[Q] Google account not showing phone as being used recently - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm trying to get my phone visible on the android device manager, but it looks like Google's servers haven't seen my phone since I bought it in June.
Rather, I'm looking at my Device manager in my google account and when I look at the devices, it shows my S4, but it says "Last activity seen on: Jun..."
Incidentally, I probably rooted my phone around that time. Actually, I soft bricked it, recovered it by a Kies reflash, and then rooted it.
I've tried some of the usual stuff that's suggested to do for Android Device Manager- uncheck "allow wiping the phone" then wipe data on Play Services, reset, recheck "allow wipe" reset again. But that doesn't help.
I've also tried removing my google account from the phone then reinstalling, to no avail.
So, I'm at wit's end. How do I get my phone showing up on Google?
Incidentally, this is mostly stock ROM, except for the rooting. Admittedly, I did restore a lot of stuff via a Titanium Backup from my previous phone, that's why I figured an account wipe then reinstall should help- I just added it back- didn't use Titanium Backup to restore anything.
I'm reluctant to wipe the phone completely to get it showing up again, so what else can anyone suggest?
edit: a bit more data: it shows the phone last seen while I was on vacation- read: a week after I rooted and restored the thing, so root and Titanium Backup might not be relevant there.

Factory reset. If that doesn't work, odin back to stock.

Yeah, factory reset is pretty much the nuclear option. Admittedly, with a Titanium Backup, it's not that bad, but still, time consuming.
Instead, I fixed it by not only clearing the data of play services, I also uninstalled the updates for it- didn't seem to help- and cleared the data for Google Services Framework. Reset, re-allow locations, and it started working.
Hopefully this also fixes my gmail polling issue/lack of push.

Factory reset on JB, i9250

hello everybody,
I updated my GSM Galaxy Nexus to Jelly Bean and after few hours of checking how it was with its new OS I decided to do a factory reset to be sure everything was clean before starting to put my apps, music, videos and so on... I chcecked what app were system app just to know if I was going to lose something special, but there was nothing more than some updates on GMail, Google Earth and others (the rest were system apps)...
But... SURPRISE... after the factory reset I found I've lost Play Magazine, the Google "Shazam-style" widgets and others system goodies...
How is that possible? Does the factory reset delete also system applications?
My GNex is yakju Galaxy Nexus i9250, completely untouched, no root, no unlocked, no nothing... just bought!!!
Thanks to everyone that will answer to my question.
Bye
They disappears if you are not in US.
Some say unfreezing those apps using TB fixes the issue.

thanks a lot for your answer. if I restore flashing a stock version of the ROM using the GNex toolkit will I get the m back?
They are not gone, still there but are US specific. You need to use titanium backup to unfreeze them. As I've learned here never tried it as I don't have a use for them anyway.
To know if you have them remove your sim and factory reset and do not log in to WiFi, and you will see all the goodies are already installed. Now use your WiFi or put the sin and they will disappear again.
If you use the factory image, the apps will get frozen the first time you reboot your phone. Also unfreezing them with Titanium Backup will not survive a reboot.
Since you haven't logged in to a Wifi or unlocked your SIM, the phone doesn't know your location on the first boot. -> The apps will be there after a new flash or factory reset.
Boot your phone and all apps that can't be used in your country will get frozen. Travel to the US, log into a Wifi or put in a US SIM and reboot your phone. -> All apps will get unfrozen.
Ok interested...
Androidme aosp + market access on boot installed all the body's and still available.
id like to ask a question regarding the factory reset on jb...
im on a custom rom, and i just realized that when i launch the factory reset...although it warns me that it will delete all my musica nd photos, it deletes nothing...ofcourse it removes all apps and when it restarts ...its all fresh configuration...but still my data are all there(even the app data)...
sorry if this is obvious, or just an idiotic question...but do you guys/ladies have the same thing?and how can really format my 'sdcard'?
thanks

Broke Google Wallet on my GNex, and then fixed it. If it helps, here's how.

VZ GNex user here. Traded my week old CLN Rezound, extra battery and case for a used GNex. I so feel like I took advantage of the guy, but that's because I'm such a Samsung fan.
So I got a little trigger happy with my Gnex and all of the roms here on XDA. Long of the short, I landed on Paranoid Android 2.20. Made a Tbup, and a nandroid in TWRP recovery. Then I went stupid trying this and that, ending back at PA. I went into my Wallet, entered my pass code after initialization, and was locked out. WTF? I searched and found a lot of ... you're SoL or get a replacement, which I cannot since I'm past warranty. Nonetheless, I didn't want to believe that I killed it. As best I can remember...
I loaded a bare Paranoid Android through TWRP after clearing system, cache and factory defaulting
I loaded gapps
I initialized everything, logged into and synced primary Google account, and installed wallet.
I created a new Wallet, and then reset it
I booted into recovery, wiped, Factory Reset and restored my nandroid
I went into Titanium and got a message... keep new Android ID or use old one. I chose old one.
I went into Titanium, Batch backup/restore, and scrolled down to Manipulate Data > Wipe Data for users and system apps - this gets ugly here because lots doesn't work on the phone when you do this... settings icon in the notification, home button, etc. Back button works great. App drawer opens without issue.
I closed Titanium. Went to Multitask list and got rid of everything. Opened app drawer, and started Titanium again.
I went into Batch backup/restore and deleted Wallet. Backed out
I dragged the wallet icon and uninstalled it
rebooted
Installed wallet and ran it.
I was asked to create an account.
Fixed it. Yay.
Yes, a long road for someone who couldn't find an easy fix. If there was an easy fix posted, please point me to it so I can archive it. If this helps anyone, and you find that I missed a step, please let me know and I'll edit my post.
I imagined the topic was about a regular wallet and lol'd, then I went on with my day, thanks for posting this I think

I found myself in this situation again, but I tried something different to get out of it... and mainly because I'm now more familiar with my phone after all this time.
I went into Titanium > Batch Actions > Manipulate Data > Wipe data for user and system apps > Deselect all > Selected Wallet > Tapped on the check mark to start the process.
Went back to the Wallet icon, tapped it, and viola. It set itself back up.

[Q] Crashing apps after restore

Yesterday my phone was acting weird - Poweramp was starting at boot, Poweramp told me it couldn't verify my license, I had no media volume (but system volume was ok), my lock screen was being bypassed on boot, S-voice was starting whenever I put headphones in, no sound from bluetooth, etc. Weird stuff.
After troubleshooting and coming up empty, I took a backup with Clockworkmod, then restored to a backup I took on the 4th. When I rebooted, apps started crashing non-stop. Not only gapps, but also twitter, dropbox, etc. Every 1-3 seconds I'd get a couple of crashes. I also get a lot of notifications (not in crash windows) that it "cannot open database". These appear across the bottom of the screen, like when I'm notified that an app has received superuser access. It happens so often I can't even shut the phone off - I have to pull the battery.
I restored to a backup I took on January 10th and got the same thing. I restored back to the backup I'd just taken, same thing. I wiped the cache and the dalvik cache, same thing. I reflashed my gapps, but that didn't fix anything. I tried to remove my google account, but I can't get into the menu because the phone's crashing too fast.
So far, the only way I can get a usable phone is by performing a factory reset and setting up my phone again.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my data back? I have an app backup from January some time using My Backup Pro, but I don't want to lose a month's worth of data if at all possible.
I'm running a rooted Galaxy S3 (AT&T) on Stock 4.3. I've been messing with Xposed for the past couple days, but disabled almost all of the modules while trying to troubleshoot the issue (and it seemed stable before it started acting weird while I was shoveling snow). Also, only the most recent backup has Xposed installed.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: I was able to remove my Google account and this initially stopped the Google apps from constantly crashing, but other apps continued to crash. After a minute or so, the Google apps started crashing again.
I was able to restore a much older backup (4.0) and this seemed to work ok for the few minutes I tested it.
I did a factory reset on 4.3, which seemed ok, but when I started restoring my apps through My Backup Pro, android.process.acore started crashing every second or so. I cleared the cache, but it didn't fix the problem (in fact, it started crashing on the lock screen, which hadn't happened before.)
I'm starting to wonder if I need to flash a new ROM because something not backed up by Clockworkmod is FUBAR.
As far as I can tell, the causes of my issues were:
I think my CWM was messed up. When I flashed CM11 to get a working ROM, I saw there was an update pending. I installed that and it seemed to fix the problem with making new backups. I don't think I'll be able to recover the backups from before, but at least I can make new backups now.
I think the android.process.acore issue was the result of the My Backup Pro backup being from CM10.1 when I was trying to restore to Stock 4.3. I think there was some system data in there that wasn't compatible with stock. Selecting only the 3rd party apps that I "needed" to install seemed to resolve this.
I don't know about the original sound issue. I got a ticket response from Poweramp saying it was a Google account mismatch issue. I hadn't made any changes, so my guess is that somehow the account was corrupted. I don't know if removing/adding the account would have made a difference, since the whole thing blew up before I could try. It's also possible that something else got corrupted that caused the volume issue. Volume works fine now that I have a new ROM, so it was definitely not a hardware issue with the headphone jack. I backup restore or factory reset might have fixed the problem, but I don't know for sure.

Text Recovery after Factory Reset

Are there any recovery methods to get text back after a factory reset that were not backed up to the cloud?
Yesterday the 7.2 update to Swipe for Facebook bricked my device. It was completely unrecoverable. Could not even boot into safe mode to uninstall the app. As soon as my phone would unlock, the screen would go black, then crash to recovery giving a corrupt data message. I had to factory reset. For some reason even though my phone was setup over 48 hours before this happened, the backup function did not back up my texts. I've lost over a years worth of data, some vital to my work. Any help is appreciated.

I use SMS backup and restore from the play store. It is free to. The google cloud backup is Hit or Miss sometimes it'll back I'm up sometimes it won't. SMS app restores all your pictures and everything else that were in the text. And it saves everything to the cloud if so you choose. I think the only thing you could do that might work is do another factory reset and pick a different cloud backup.

You can try logging into your Carriers website and see if you have some sort of web texting enabled... Or give your carrier a call as well.
I know for a fact AT&T and Verizon have this option (but may not be enabled by default), not sure of others. Other than that, If you didn't have an app backing them up, you may be out of luck :/
Good luck!

Google Play Services keeps stopping

Woke up to my phone displaying "Google Play Services keeps stopping" I read a few posts and tried what was recommended. Tried to clear cache, freeze/unfreeze app, reboot, etc. No change. Some one suggest a Factory reset. Seems like a quick fix.
I am now reflashing the Mar release with -w. I hope that will "fix it"
Has anyone else seen/solved this annoying problem?
EDIT: After reflashing the Mar release -w I am getting "Settings keeps stopping" Any suggestions before I have to do a full Flash/wipe?
EDIT2: I gave up on fixing the problem and ran flash-all with wipe. Now restoring my 151 user apps from Google. Have a good set of TiBu back ups too.

Hey Swieder I'm interested to know how your TiBu restore went. I maintain a full backup set that i havent ever had to use and wondering if they will be reliable on 10. I've heard data restores can be hit or miss on 10 so would be happy to hear your success. Also, why restore apps from Google? I usually turn off Google sync and do a batch app + data restore.

I let Android play restore most of the apps and associated data. Once that was done I used TiBu to fill in a few missing data pieces and apps. Worked great.
