Cases finally showing up on eBay

I've been searching every couple days since the phone was released only to find the shields, glare protectors, and skins... Finally they have the low cost cases that many users have come to love...
Judging by the looks on some, I'm not saying they are grade A, but having bought some for past phones, they are comparable to some of the $30 cases sold at some retailers

This is the same case (and seller) I have except mine is black. It looks, works, and feels great... Though it is a little hard to take off once it's on.

whats that case material called thats like not the rubbery silicone, but not a hard case? Its like a soft plastic that doesn't have a rubber texture.

if the material you're describing is what I'm imagining (and as counter-intuitive as it sounds) it's rubberized crystal cases. (like the one in the first link)
it doesn't feel "rubbery", it feels smooth and soft-textured. nothing at all like the rubber you'd find on a shoe or tire.

I believe you are thinking of TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes)? It's generally a material that is flexible but very smooth, and usually translucent.
Unfortunately I don't think there are any TPU cases yet for Captivate, but I think they are coming (they have them for the standard Galaxy S / Vibrant), but that's what I am waiting for as well.

Per Wikipedia, they have several trade names (but seems mostly from Pharma)
ELASTOLLAN (BASF & Elastogran)
PEARLTHANE (Merquinsa)
DESMOPAN (Bayer)
PELLETHANE (Dow Chemical) Sold to Lubrizol.
ESTANE (Lubrizol)
IROGRAN (Huntsman)
But in terms of cases, the only trade name I know of is that I believe Amzer calls their line of TPU cases "Luxe." Other places usually refer to the cases either as TPU or "Flexi Skin."
I'm personally waiting on the "Luxe" line from Amzer to be released at the end of the month for the Captivate.

I got the black version of this case and I'd say it's by far more attractive and more protective than the overpriced crap they have at the AT&T store.
I attached some pictures. Yeah, I rigged up a cradle for the phone out of some large zip-ties, and I must say, it works great. Don't be dissin'!

Yep, that's exactly the same one I have. The one thing I would say to notice about this is, that without a screen protector, and if you keep it in your pocket... this case just seems to be a "force dirt to collect in certain places" device. (Keep it in your pocket for a day or two and then take it off and see how much dirt is chilling out under your case)

Thats the one I want as well. Mainly cuz its got some cushion like the silicone ones but doesn't stick in your pocket like the silicone ones...
Only problem I have with it is the pattern on it. Its a nice pattern, but coming from the world of bberry, its been done and over done. I feel it might look a little busy with the translucency/being able to see all the original case detail under it.

Is there another place I can get the hard snap on cases other than ebay? Keep trying to catch them with some in stock at the store and they never have them...and I'm sure they are like $30 there...

[Review] Momax UltraThin Case

Just a quick review of one of the better cases that I have come across...for those who dont like TPU and soft cases were the lip around the screen would easily peel back, and dont feel like actual part of the phone...Seems to be the only option was to run with no case, or them clip on cases.
The Momax UltraThin is the best case for myself at the moment, offering all that I am after, a phone that is still slim, protects it from minor scratches...I admit, not much drop protection but then, even thicker cases dont always promise absolute protection.
Anyways, the case is well lipped, accurate and precise, the holes for the buttons are well placed and shaped, overall very easy, as if there was no case on. The camera hole is well flushed to the camera itself.
Most of all this case actually clips on very tight and firm, just the way I like it...there is no give or any gap or loose points like TPU cases or SGP Neos...its just a firm case, that makes you feel like you are holding onto a phone without any added bulk...
Plus, the paint job on it is absolutely stunning...pretty flawless, high quality product...for a fair price...Ill let the photos do the talking...

I got mine on Ebay, shipping took about 1 week to New Zealand which is as slow as things get...

Also, is the material on the inside part of the case metal? I'm afraid it would scratch the plastic on the back of the phone if there's any rubbing.. ?

It is plastic, very smooth so I do not think it would scratch at all unless there is sand or other small hard particles between the case and phone.

There are no mesh that allows small dusts to get between case and phone I suppose? I believe it also comes in transparent as well...

Have the same case - price and quality are perfect. I like that comparing to original phone materials this case feels like good-old soft-touch back panel. Only drawback I can find is that this case can be scratched easily - after a month of carrying my phone mainly in the pocket there appeared lots of small scratches. I bet this is due to the material of the case.

is there any problem with voice conversation like other ebay cases ?

I havent had any issues with calls or GPS...

Not a fan of cases that expose the top or bottom of the phone so I am still looking while my S2 is in transit.

Impact resistant case with a strap hole,suggestions?

Because of issues with my HTC Vivid, which is not discontinued according to ATT, they are switching me to the HTC One. I have used the TPU cases for years and loved them because they were impact resistant and had a hole for a strap. I know it seem odd but the stap is really important to me because without it I would drop my phone SO often. But for the HTC one I can;t seem to find a TPU case with a place for a strap, the one x,s,z all have them and so does my vivid,but not just the one(m7) Can anyone suggest any?

There are a few. Most of the ones that have it are soft wallet-style cases, though. Here's one of the exceptions:

Wow that is a...interesting...case, ty for the suggestion! Lets try to stay away from the soft wallet types as i came gay enough with a tiny clutch, no offense anyone

Yeah, you'd think there would be more lanyard cases with the proliferation of snatch and run smartphone thefts.
Found this one also, though I don't know how well it would work.

Depends on the design of the case and how much padding it has, but usually yes.
Not as much as a hybrid case, though. A hybrid has a soft sleeve reinforced by a hard frame.
EDIT:
I haven't used the Trident case, but it seems decent. It runs about $25 on Amazon and while the number of reviews is small most are positive. There's also a video review here:

TPU Bumper?

So I've been looking for a TPU bumper for a while, and all I've seen are normal cases which have a back. I'm looking for one thats just a bumper and without a back. currently i have an aluminum bumper on my OPO but i dont like it much because of the sharp corners and slipperiness.
Anyone know of any tpu bumpers out there?

this isnt a bumper though. its a case with a clear back. plus according to reviews, theres a gap between the lip and the bezel of the device which doesnt look that great, and the back clear plastic scratches really easily :/

I know its not a true bumper im saying its the closest thing we got lol

I think there are no TPU bumpers available because they do not hold to the edge without slipping often. Just imagine you put a rubber band around the edge of the phone and taking it in and out of your pocket.

this is unfortunate. i think it is possible to make one though. the nexus 4 has a bumper and its completely round lol. plus rhinoshield had a model for it, they just never went through with making it.

I have been looking for one as well. I thought about getting that Orzly Fusion mentioned earlier in the thread and seeing if I could separate the back from it. I love the feel of my sandstone back, and don't want to cover it.

Looks like that might work. I think if you used a dremel cutting wheel and left a little of the clear lip around the back it might work really well.

I have one and you should be able to do that, however, it does seem like the back would be loose which means you might have to either cut the plastic from the outer edge which can be a hard job and leave some plastic left on the inside to cover the slack or fill in the slack with something else, either way it is achievable but you do risk losing £10

I don't think anything exists that is a bumper case that isn't made out of some kind of metal.

There are quite a few metal bumper case for OPO on Ebay and and Indian Ecommerce site flipkart, but I don't want a metal one.

X-Level clear TPU case, for the minimalist case user! (Pixel 2 XL)

Just received some of the Clear X-Level TPU case I found and ordered, it is .78mm with clear matte edges all around that feel great in hand.

The case is similar to the 'MNML' case in that it does not provide a lip for the screen, but it does hug the screens curves to provide a bit more protection in case of accidental drops since it is made of TPU. Dont get me wrong, it is not not a drop proof case at all, but even thin TPU material can absorb more of an impact than hard plastic, and with a good screen protector you're set. The camera is also ever so recessed enough that it wont hit flat surfaces when placed on them. The buttons are also feel great and tactile.
The only thing that may bother some, but doesn't bother me since it isnt that noticeable from afar, is that even though it has the "dot buffer" most clear tpu cases have, it still shows some "water markings" where the case meets the back glass. This is likely because of how thin the case is, and how the back glass curves and melts into the 2 XL's corners. The case will also likely yellow and scratch over time, but that is why I got a small supply lol. I'll be able to swap them out as needed since it will be my daily for a while.
(On a side note) If anyone is interested I would also be wiling to sell some of the extra I have. I know it sounds like an ad for me to sell... but I just feel I got more than I needed.. and it seems these are hard to get in the US for some reason. So if you are just let me know, id do $12 shipped, first class, US. If you want more than one Id do a deal cause of shipping as well! If I have more than one left i want to sell that is lol

I find matte finish slippery and like the cheap TPU L&K case on Amazon much better. They don't get much smaller than L&K.

It actually does. The L&K is about as thick as the Ringke Bevel. I had the "Pleson" version of it (theyre both the same just rebranded) and that is how thick it felt. The X-Level is .78mm thin.

Loving this case. Was concerned it would crack like the mnml ones it's tpu so that won't be a issue this will keep me from going commando I hate cases

It took 23 days to reach me in Los Angeles from China.
Just got mine yesterday and I love it. I've been on the hunt for a good clear case to show off the phone. I first had the Spigen Liquid Crystal but it added a bit too much bulk for my liking. This one is just thick enough to protect the rear camera lens when the device is resting face-up. My only complaints are that:
1. there is no lip to protect the screen if I want to set the phone face-down (seems to be common amongst slim cases), and
2. the cut-outs are a bit sharp from being unfinished (though really this is not a big deal for me).
The fingerprint reader cut-out is a bit off-center but at a glance it isn't noticeable for me.

Unfortunately after some time (2 weeks) case has weird bluish discoloration.
I'm assuming this came from holding my phone in pocket (jeans).
I have also Ringke clear case and same story, same discoloration.

been using this for more than half year, same as other tpu case, it will turn yellow as time goes by.
