Ok so after reading through a lot of threads, websites, YouTube videos, ETC... to figure out how to get my MSL on my Virgin Mobile Epic 4g Touch GB28 I am slightly lost. I know that I have to flash a kernel and then download terminal emulator. What do I have to download? How do I flash it and how do I get my phone back to the way it was in case I sell it.
Thanks,
Cam
To get back to stock search for a virgin mobile stock one-click if you want it to be unrooted. If you want a stock AND rooted build then search for a stock root virgin mobile one-click.

So I just search for a stock version of the fi03 kernel flash it, get my msl and then flash the rooted GB28 back to my phone?
Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using xda app-developers app
You should be able to do it from where ever your at as long as you're rooted but yes just make sure to read and flash a compatible kernel. Once youre done just search for the stock one click and you should be set.

Currently, im running FD18 from way back when. Im on this because when i go into odin to try and go back to EL29, odin sends a message that is in like a chinese style language. When i click ok, the program auto closes.
Ive tried on multiple computers. Am i stuck or is there a way to at least get back to EL29 or to get the latest OTA?

Not enough info. What kernel you on? Safe recovery? Try flashing rom from recovery or updating kernel then flashing.
FD24 kernel.

You have an out dated, over seas version of Odin. Go to the dev section and in the sticky threads there are two posts .by sfhub. Find the version you are looking for in the Odin one click thread. Then go to the autoe4gt thread and download the auto root tool to obtain cwm. Read the entire OP in both threads. If you have any questions, pm me.

You need to extract Odin and Odin.ini from the zip first. It's looking for the ini file that it can't find, which is why you're getting the popup that you're getting.

I am trying to root an Epic 4G (SPH-D700). I have been everywhere on here and it seems all the info for this build version either doesnt work or is outdated. Any help would be appreciated!
GINGERBREAD.FC09 - Build
2.6.35.7 - Kernel
2.3.6 - Firmware
Not sure how hard you searched but here you go.

Odin CWM w/o reboot checked
Battery pull after successful flash
Replace battery
3-finger boot to recovery
Flash custom rom from SD card
Profit
Also, you were asking a question. We have a Q&A forum for just that reason.
Thanks for the link! And sorry for the noob post

For what he said I think hes not rooted. So just look for the kernel at rwilco.com and follow the instructions on how to flash it. Is real easy

You didn't update your baseband. I'd guess that you updated your baseband instead. And 6.0.4.1 is available.

You already did. If you are certain your device is the SGH-T999, and not any other variance, grab the LJC (or MD5) standalone in my signature and flash it.
Thanks the LJC standalone solved the problem
