So then, I have played with Google Voice and GrooveIP but GrooveIP sucks somethin' fierce... any OTHER apps like that which work with Voice so I can run an AOSP/AOKP ROM and accomplish this goal?
I guess I want to know if I have an active WiFi Connection and a Google Voice # that I can forward to and I use EverVoice or WiCall, will that accomplish the same thing??

Wifi calling is no longer an apk for JB. It is baked into the framework. TW is the only way currently available to use T-MO wifi calling on our device. I haven't heard of any JB aosp type rom on any device being able to take advantage of T-MO wifi calling.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
TW is the only way? What is TW, sorry for having to ask, but I also enjoyed Wi-Fi calling from t-mobile.
TW = TouchWiz is the interface developed by Samsung.

Re-read my post. Start with the part where it says TW is the only way *for our device* ("our device" is not the LG G2).
What part is not right? Reading is fundamental.

Wow, you don't have to be a **** about it. I'm sorry I didn't realize that the conversation was device specific. I just did a search to find relevant information about AOSP WiFi calling. I know this is in the note 2 section.

Couldn't tell if you were trolling. People with low post counts calling people out for no reason in forums where they haven't made any contributions is always suspect.
You won't find a *built from source* AOSP rom that includes WiFi calling. The community doesn't seem willing at the present to take on the herculean task of implementation for this niche (not to say unimportant) feature. RoI value isn't there. The old WiFi calling app available a recently as ICS just doesn't work on JB and good people have given up on implementing it.
The best you can hope for right now is a port of a device that comes from mobile supplied device equipped with an AOSP style stock software that has the feature included. The Nexus series excluded (Google isn't keen on letting carriers mess with Experience devices anymore). If an implementation were to happen I think it'll be from the Nexus community or another device of that ilk.

Meh.
Glad someone made this post. I was thinking of switching to T-Mobile. But without Wifi calling...no thanks. Not even sure if I could get signal in my apartment. Plus their horrible coverage...oh well. Really wanted WiFi calling.
Maybe I'll have to look into a proper VOIP instead of google voice. (Horrible to use over WiFi.)
If you really need WiFi calling, stock ROM always comes with it built-in.
I always use stock ROM with a few mod, and I'm happy with that.
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302313 and https://github.com/FennyFatal/the-ims-open-source-project-for-android
I'm not sure what either of those are, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.

A while ago, I downloaded a nandroid someone posted from their T-Mobile Galaxy Note II to see if I could pick it apart for wi-fi calling, but I don't use it so I can't really test it and I lost interest. Now, I've packaged up the Wifi Calling app with all of the libs it came with and added in the build.prop from the zip. It might be a lot more than what is needed, but I don't want to have to keep uploading bits and pieces. If you think you have an idea of what you're doing and want to try it out, go for it. I don't really know much about wi-fi calling at all so unless you have some sort of logcat, I'll be of little to no use to you at all. I guess that's about it...
You can use the ics wi-fi calling package to help you out by possibly using it as a reference/using parts/etc.
FOUND HERE
And here is what I've extracted from that 1GB+ package.

Let us know what you find and good luck

Hm... by the looks of it, it would seem that these are only settings for Wi-Fi calling. So it would seem that you'd have to mod the settings apk to have the option for WiFi calling settings. :/ I'll look into elgins (CM10) source sometime to see if I can add it in. If I can at least get the app starting somewhere, it will be easier for everyone else to debug/fix it up. If anyone has messed with the note 2 and can confirm that WiFi calling is accessed via settings and not launcher (app) that would be helpful as well.

From what I have seen and read on my HTC One S it is built into the frame work on JB so way above what I know good luck.

I'm thinking the setting could be added in way that is similar to this:
https://github.com/SyNtheticNightma...mmit/bfac7c05daab9f6294f7419ea6173c4a1c569092
Though I don't know the exact name of the package for the wi-fi calling settings... I'd need to decompile it to find that out (unless you know another way, I'm not too familiar with apks). I could also try whipping up an icon for this if you need one.

Sorry for a late reply (haven't had the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-T889) so long...
Wifi Calling settings are located under Settings / More settings /
And includes two items: Wi-Fi Calling (this is to enable/disable with a check box), and, Wi-Fi Calling Settings (This offers Connection Preferences [Wi-Fi Preferred / Wi-Fi Only / Cellular Preferred}, and, Help)
For reference, the above menu structure/selections are based on Stock F/W 4.1.1, Build Number JRO03C.T889UVALL4
Is this still a work in progress or has it died?
it sure died.. adding wifi calling to JB has been a task for over a year..no dev has been able ot make this work...so sad.

I use ePhone by Comwave. lol. You get a specific number. And I dont have a working sim card anyways , so I made whatsapp with a textplus number lol
Ive been looking around and researching on how to get wifi calling on AOSP roms. I have made what I believe to be a big discovery. T-mobile now uses IMS for newer android phones, which is UMA/sip etc. I decompiled the ims-service.apk from the stock DLJA rom. I found an XML that contains the settings to use the service! You can get the IMS installer from here http://code.google.com/p/the-ims-open-source-project-for-android/
I put the settings into the app and tried connecting but it came up with ER05, invalid SIM card. I googled that and it I get leads to saying that the sim isn't authenticated for WIFI calling. I know that it is, because it works fine on stock roms. I've also attached a logcat of me attempting to connect. I've attempted to change some of the info of the strings to reflect my personal phone number but that did not change anything.

So I took part in a survey this morning sent from T-Mobile. They had some very interesting questions pertaining to Wi-Fi Calling and AOSP ROMS, specifically if I was running on a rooted device, and if I was able to get Wi-Fi calling enabled on whatever ROM I was using. They had other questions about Wi-Fi Calling and how much I would use it, etc...Apparently they're recognizing the community and are starting to ask the right questions. I like this line of thinking!

Let us not assume they are asking these questions to try and help us.. Everything T-Mobile has ever demonstrated toward the hacking community was finding ways to prevent or patch and progress made.. like they're going to assist us with tethering or wifi calling on custom ROMs.. not going to happen.. They are probably asking so they can investigate how it is working on an AOSP ROM and patch the exploit..

Nope. Not gonna happen. At least, that has been the conclusion in the other 15 or so threads asking for WiFi calling in any other ROMs besides the stock(ish) T-Mobile TW ROMs... If WiFi calling is a necessity to you, you can pretty much give up on the GE ROMs, AOSP, other carrier's TouchWiz ROMs, etc... One option that DOES work as far as making/receiving calls without the built-in WiFi calling though would be to use GrooveIP forwarded to your Google Chat account, then set your carrier call forwarding to go to your Google Voice number. You can turn Airplane mode on, then set your WiFi on and still be able to receive calls on both your cellular number and Google Voice number. The only thing about that though is that although you can receive calls on both numbers, you can only call out using your GV number. Also, you'd have to toggle airplane mode to receive text messages to your cell number.

There are a few peoples working very hard to do just that. Unfortunately tmobile spread all the necessary files through out the framework. It takes time but I'm sure it will be done. There's a few thread in the developments section as well as the app/theme section if you want to follow it.

True, they are. But even the stock TouchWiz camera doesn't fully work on the GE ROMs. I know the camera has nothing to do with WiFi calling, just pointing out the fact that even though they're both built into the TouchWiz framework, the gutted version of TouchWiz we know as the Google Edition is sufficiently different so as to have some pretty significant obstacles to overcome when porting features to it versus other Stock TW.

just because they have the same hardware and some same features (wifi calling mainly) doesnt mean they are implemented in the same way. the code is completely different. Like i said before, its not as simple as comparing the two roms and seeing the differences. There are plenty of devs working on this issue, and you dont think they havent tried doing what your about to do? Your asking for a bricked phone

If at all it bricks the phone then it'll be a soft brick because all it'll do is either add or replace files. Maybe they haven't tried it before. Maybe my solution works. maybe it doesn't. Yes i know code will be different but not all of the code will be. if you can find the similar code maybe it'll help.

If you flashed the Stock T-Mobile ROM, and have a T-Mo SIM, you should have the setting - there isn't an "app".
Go to Settings > Connections > More networks > Wi-Fi Calling Settings.
You should be able to turn it on or off and then set your preferences.
Remember it has to be a Stock ROM, none of the non-Stock ROMs support Wi-Fi calling.

Sorry for my spreading of misinformation. I thought I had read that it was only Stock. Is it that the ROM must be TouchWiz based? Is that the issue - so no AOSP, CM nor GPE?
As to the APK, I thought he was asking about an APP he had to run.
Again, sorry, and thanks for the correction.

Yes wifi calling is touch wiz based.

Technically, its been made available for other platforms - My wife's HTC Sensation has it. But yeah, on the Samsung S4 only the TW based ROMs have it.

There is no apk yet.....All US T-Mobile TW roms have WiFi Calling. Only international doesnt
I remember on my old HD2 there was a thread where Wi-Fi calling was added to CM7 and I think also on CM9. Maybe a developer can get some ideas to get it to work on aosp?

I think what it is is that T-Mobile had the feature baked into whatever custom interface the phone manufacturer was using. With the HTC phone, it was probably baked into Sense. In the case of Samsung phones, they were baked into TouchWiz. Recently, the ability was added to iOS 8, adding recent iPhones to the capable list.
I may be wrong, but I think it was a way to discourage tinkering because they were trying to encourage people to take up expensive flagship phones. If WiFi Calling could be plastered to just any old GSM phone, the more expensive phones lose their appeal.
