I ask because I did. From 100 cms onto a wooden floor covered in thick soft touch linoleum. The 'sealed' back sprung out at the side opposite the power and volume buttons. It will not go back in. Not impressed.

The back is held on by tiny spring clips. I used a plastic credit card to slip along the edge, then pry/pop each tab. I think there were 4 or 5 on each side.
Use something thin and plastic so you don't scratch the bezel.

Just use your last name as your company name, and your address is all you need.
I've dropped mine from >1 meter exactly 6 times. Twice when cycling to work. This thing has seen some asphalt but is still working.
Here's a quick and dirty way to fix the back cover:
1. Carefully remove the back cover from it's place. The right way to do this is to push it down towards the bottom of the phone, but to do so you have to first remove the plastic bottom piece. Another way to remove the cover is to slide a screwdriver under it and gently push middle of the cover upwards. This is how I got mine off, I never removed the plastic bottom piece.
2. Fix any clips that are bent, they appear to be quite durable so you should be able to bend them back where they should be without breaking them.
3. Study the closing mechanism. The right way to seat the back cover is to place it few mm lower than it's place and slide up towards the top of the phone. Again, the plastic bottom piece should be off when seating the back cover, if not you'll find that one of the bottom covers clips is sitting on top of the bottom piece instead of under it. Screwdriver and carefully applied force are your best friends when getting that clip to it's right place.
Sorry I can't provide the instructions to do this right. I don't have any idea how to remove the plastic bottom piece.

Good piece of information there. Thanks. My phone is only one day old in my care before the back pinged. A courier is meant to be delivering a new one tomorrow and taking away the old one. I was going to use this as a good time to practice going up to B114 but I've lost my bloody micro sd card. Arghhh.

No idea, obviously. I don't even know because my wife bought the phone as a new business surprise present, whatever the hell that is...
I'm assuming from one of her dreadful catalogues because it never showed up in my bank statements. I was quite happy with my Nokia and my Galaxy Nexus. She always gets my cast-offs, so maybe she wants the Nexus. LOL.

Hmm question is if its worth it right now to buy one. I mean 20 $.....
Battery Cover from the outside does not show any abnormality and i thought: if it "fits" in it should be pressed in the right position by the other pins and the shape of the notch.
What do you think?
I find the back cover to be the biggest pain in the ass ever to remove and put back on... Anyone know what the correct procedure is to put the cover back on? The bottom looks like it requires some ..sliding... and the rest you need to push in with the cover bent, moving from the bottom and going upward one by one? >.> bleh
...The Droid 3 and Optimus V's covers werent this bad...
I bent the bottom right pin (If you look from the back) now my case doesn't shut properly. I think I'll wait till the price goes down before I buy a replacement though!

the bottom right seems to be the hardest to get in. you have to get it in with bottom two tabs at the same time for everything to fall and snap into place. it can be a pain if you don't know.
I agree the back cover is the only physical issue with the phone.
Make sure the bottom side is nicely in before snapping in the ones on top to avoid breaking the button hooks.
I got sick of the case sticking up at the back so tried to bend the bent pin back, and it worked perfectly!

I had trouble getting the back on with all the pins in place. For me, the right side bottom pin would not go in.
Instead of forcing it, I discovered if I inserted the bottom 2 pins of the back, then starting pushing the side pins in from the bottom and working up, then they all went in without too much trouble.
Good Luck!
I bought a grey One X, but decided that I should have bought the white, and so I purchased the rear casing and sim card tray from ebay.
All installed perfectly and my phone is working without issues, however the thing that did hit me as strage was after rebooting device with the white casing on, the handset reported a software update for the device (not an app update) of which I said ok.
Can't see any difference in what it reports in About this phone in regards to Software, and so was wondering is it possible that by changing the rear housing it also changes the CID of the device ?
Using CID reports HTC__001 ??
I know this is probably a newb question, however this phone is my first serious Android device other than my old Nook Color.... So if i'm making gaf's please excuse them.
Thank you.
Cool to know that you can change the outlook like that. Might want to buy one back just in case i want to try grey or white gets dents. Thanks!

I'll upload a few for you shortly. Though it just looks like a white one X
Here you go folks.
Basically genuine HTC housing replacement, very simple to do. You have to order the sim card seperatly so make sure you order one at same time.
The phone pops out of the housing with a little bit of prying and put a little bit of sticky tape on the volume rocker and power button so that they dont drop on the floor when you remove your phone from the housing as otherwise you could end up missing a little part.
The trickiest part is popping out the speaker from the old housing and dropping it into the new. I used a pin to pop it out of the hole it sits in and then just dropped it into the new housing.
Squeeze your phone in and it will click into place. remove the tape on the outside holding the volume rocker and power button and hey presto new phone
And if I can do it, anyone can
Cool, thank you!
Is there any tutorial for the replacing?
How much did you payed for the case and the sim tray?
Link to where can I buy one for my one x?

Also note the back cover has self adhesive areas that need exposing before installing, and the inside of the camera lens has a blue plastic protection film that needs removing. Because it is clear plastic covering the self adhesive areas it can be missed and your back cover will not be fitted as well as the original.
Self adhesive areas are:
1) The whole area that essentially covers the battery has a plastic film cover that needs removing to exposed the adhesive.
2) The USB hole has a raised support that has a small plastic strip that needs removing to exposed the adhesive
3) At the bottom left and right sides of the back cover inside edge are small sticky areas, again the plastic film needs removing.
In terms of software updates because the back is changed, it was just a co-incidence, the back cover has no intelligence in it to alter serial numbers etc.

Phil

Yep great advice
It's easy to see where the self adhesive areas are simply because of the bright blue sticky plastic that was on my white case/housing inside.

Yes I would think the white is much more obvious. If you have a new grey back, the film doesn't stand out at all.

Where did you order your parts? On ebay I could only find parts for e720 (or something like that, the chinese one x)
If you are opening your device, I would highly recommend that you read the Official HTC WiFi antenna repair guide as you might want to add those strips in to strengthen the contacts.

Bought the phone on impulse second hand for a good price,. So saved €289.99 off the regular sim-free price on expansys.... When there was that much of a saving, I wasn't going to argue about the color
(checks Expansys pricing, actually it was €309.99 price difference between what I paid for the grey and the white sim-free model there)....
Just a bit of info for you regarding opening up your One X (housing removal). This is part of an email reply that I received from HTC warranty in the UK, when I asked about opening up my One X to check something.
We would not advise you to take the phone apart as this will invalidate your warranty.

I don't really know if that's true, but that's what HTC said. Make you own decision.
I realise you insert something like a pen into that hole near the corner but case doesn't want to come up.
The first time it came up I felt like I was going to break it as I pulled so I pushed it back down, now it doesn't seem to want to pop up at all.
Edit: Got the corner coming up now but I'm worried about how much force you can use to pull it up.
Edit 2: Done. You don't exactly want to use that kind of force with a brand new phone, but the back cover can take it.
I used that method, now I just use my nail in a corner and pry it off.
Find what? Who the heck is OPPO?

Hello,
I have been loving my 7x but dropped it the other day and shattered the screen. Phone still works fine but I want to fix it, obviously. I am looking for somewhere to get a new screen/digitizer or maybe just the glass. I have seen some on ebay but don't want to wait a month to get it here to the USA. Anyone know where I might be able to find something closer? I am also going to try Honor but don't know if they will sell me just the parts.
Thanks for any help
Honestly, buying the part off Ebay is your best bet. I shattered the screen on my 7X as well. Replacement came within a week, shipped from California. Honor wanted like $150 for service lol. Not worth it. Plus, I heard they take forever with service. Check this part out, this is the one I got. It is tough to get apart but heating up the edges with a hair dryer helped. As long as you removed the screws at the bottom it should come apart with some effort.

Where did you get your phone from? Amazon?
Through Honor
Did you change just the glass or the digitizer too? I ordered a replacement with the digitizer. Is it difficult to swap out? Any videos on how to do this easily? Not my first time doing this but first time with this phone. I want to tear it down the least possible. Thanks.
screen and digitizer is in one piece. it's not hard. I just did my wife's phone for the 2nd time.
remove sim tray
Two screws on the bottom next to usb port. Remove them.
pry on bottom corner and work your way up the side to loosen. Pull apart bottom then work your way up.
Do not pull back off too hard as finger print sensor is attached.
Follow finger print ribbon cable to to phone and metal plate, remove screw holding plate in place. Pop off finger print cable from motherboard. (ribbon cable next to it is the screen cable.)
Pop off screen cable
bottom of phone should be black speaker. Four screws hold it in place. upper left screw also holds in a metal plate.
pry speaker out as there is double sticky tape holding it in place.
Would suggest putting a suction cup on screen. If screen is already cracked, put tape on screen to keep it together.
Now the fun part. Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and heat up the screen around the edges from the front of the phone.
Apply gentle pressure to suction cup to pull screen from phone.
Once screen is removed, clean up glue/double stick tape and apply new tape.
Reverse process to put back together.

What do you mean by the back doesn't work as in the fingerprint sensor? Maybe you didn't get somthing hooked properly.
The McLaren on the back of the case is a very sharp metal and began peeling after 2 weeks. This resulted in deep cuts on my hand and a good amount of blood. I have 2 small children so it was scary. My older son likes to bring my phone to me when he wakes up and threw the phone screaming and I had no idea what was going on.
What case? I got my 7t pro McClaren 5g edition from t mobile the other day and no case was in it. Although the t mobile rep did take about 10 minutes in the back retrieving it.
When you open the box. Remove the bottom from the package and you will find a case there... I would warn against using it. However, it definitely should be there.

Hello, is you post related to the OnePlus 7T? Just asking as you've posted in the OnePlus 7 Pro device forum.
If it's really OP7T related I intend to move your thread to the correct device forum.
And Merry Christmas to everybody.

OH wow!! Thank you so much, I had no idea there was a secret compartment at bottom of box ?. The case looks awesome.
And you were right, I looked closer at the back of the phone and saw the sensor you're referring to and the McLaren case has that cut out however the Poetic Case did not have it.
Thank you once again.
Any pics of it ?
Well, that's very cry cry story, but i can't imagine how this cut can hurt, why your kids is take your phone (they haven't other toys?), next will be car keys and accidental crash, and at last, how you holds your phone for take injury from this cut out, this story just freaking me out by level of dumbass :silly:

Did you pull the metal off where it says McLaren? Because from the picture it looks like you don't have metal there

Looks the same as mine, indented but with metal in the bottom of the indent.

If the metal is shiny piece then yes mine has it. Why would I pull it off?

Yes
Same happened to me, first one finger with a 1 cm cut and the second time the mc laren logo was stuck in annother finger. No kids we scared though. no pics. but that sharp angle of the mc laren logo is the culprit imho.
Came right off with my fingernail, and was easily half attached and peeled up mid removal as could happen accidentally in a pocket. Not great... and the M is quite sharp.
Just peel it all off . Should look better
Yes that was my only point that it is a terrible design and oneplus should change this going forward. I know I had a smart user tell me to stop crying about it but I just wanted people to be aware.
It's a slippery phone on the edges - use a case or else.
If u haven't bent the letters get a strong adhesive and tooth pick and glue them back in place. Unless u like them off. It's not made bad if there metal it sounds like the glue isn't strong enough and u can just fix it ur self with a primo glue.
I've had my Mclaren for months and, even though I saw this thread before I bought it, I figured it was a single defective case
Today, I had to use plyers to pull 3/4 of the M out of my index finger. I hadn't had any peeling or snags prior, but I reached into my pocket to get my phone and came out a bloody mess.
I'm fine now, but just like OP said the letters are razor sharp. I'll be peeling the rest later today and I won't be replacing it; It's still an excellent case.
Clone of case without logo
Perhaps this might help. I ordered one of these so I'd have a similar case on hand when the original wears out. https://www.ebay.com/itm/McLaren-Style-Luxury-Carbon-Fiber-Genuine-Leather-Oneplus-Sports-Car-Case-Cover/143539669280
