Kilpsch S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Headphones don't work "right" - General Accessories

I just ordered them from amazon and I got them. I plug them in my samsung captivate glide. And it does that were you hear half of the music. If you know what I mean. You don't get vocals something like that. And I have the beats audio driver on my phone that I installed from the market. But does anyone know if it should work for android and is there a way to get it working?

Did you just posted in there a comment under "cameron"? If I understood your comment correctly, that "half of music" sounds almost like when headphones is not plugged in all the way into a jack. Do you have other headphones, with or without in-line remote, that work with your phone? Or maybe there is some eq setting with beats driver that messing around with your sound quality? Try to uninstall that app/widget, see how it works, and try other headphones as well. Also, take a look if your headphone plug goes all the way into a jack. If you also posted your comment on Amazon under Cameron where you mentioned it doesn't work with a tablet, check that headphone plug for sure.
I had Klipsch S4A II, those worked fine with my Note 2, S4, and Nexus 7. Android version was the same as their apple version except they removed volume buttons because it's not supported. Sounds itself was OK. Bass was decent, but a bit muddy to my taste, not too natural. Also, bass enhancement was done at expense of lowering clarify of high frequencies (I guess to make the bass sound better?). On contrary, UE600vi has crystal clear mids/highs, with lack of bass. One of these days I will try UE900 to see if they got it right, since I'm a huge fan of UE and how comfortable their earphones sit in your ear.

[Q] Dr Dre, Klipsch, Bose Headsets?

Anyone tried Klipsch Image S4i, Bose - MIE2 mobile headset, or Beats By Dr. Dre - Monster Solo High-Definition Over-the-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk? (I got the titles off Best Buy). I hear a lot of the more expensive headsets have trouble with phones that are not apple brand. Anyone own any of these and use it with the vibrant? I am running latest axura rom with voodoo enabled, if that matters.
Can anyone skim through the best buy online store and tell me what are the some of the best headphones they carry (preferably with mic but without mic is fine too)? thanks
Best earbuds imo:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NABXXE/ref=twister_dp_update?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are on a severe discount now too. As for where it's coming from, I'm an audiophile and did my research on ear canals when I was looking for a pair for my Vibrant. The microphone also works perfect with the phone and can control music players just fine.
This set is a tad bass-heavy, just warning ya. It can handle ANY volume you throw at it too.

hmmm those look really good, I really want to get something from best buy though because I can get employee discount, if none of the best buy ones work maybe i'll get that
I own the Beats by Dre Solo HDs and use them with my Vibrant. The audio is perfect, but I haven't been able to get the Control Talk to work (although I haven't tested them yet with Nero). I definitely recommend them!

If you think the beat by dre are perfect you have alot to learn about audio all they are are heavy bass and crappy mids and highs, people only buy bose and dre **** just because media tells them too when theya re really some of the ****tiest things you can get
and vmoda is tits.
Klipsch s4i is the best out of all in the OP. Etymotic, shure, and ultimate ears also make good headsets in the same price range, not sure if BB carries any of them though. Beats and bose are all marketing, you'll find little in the way of actual sound quality.
Personally I am using ultimate ears triple fi 10s with my vibrant to listen to music, and they are very revealing-the vibrant is not a very good source in this regard. I highly prefer a dedicated DAP with a decent internal amp for optimum sound quality. These are probably out of your price range, though.

If you haven't heard the new MIE2 you shouldn't make a generalization about it. I hope those S4i's last longer than they have for others.
Some Bose are good but all of them way too overpriced for the quality.
Dr. Dre is marketing mostly though, don't get that if you're looking for actual sound quality. If you're looking for bling that looks nice in your ears, get them.
heygrl does the mie2's mic work with vibrant? anyone know if the s4i's mic works with vibrant?

I read some of the reviews and quite a few say they have poor build quality, is this true? one of the reviews said that the manufacturer wouldn't honor the warranty because it was purchased from an Amazon reseller.
anyone with the beats by dre, either solo or tours...do they come with a regular cord and then the one with the control talk? im thinking i can use my sony mw600 bluetooth with the beats without the control talk cord.
thanks.
The earphones that come with the vibrant aren't bad at all for freebies. I'd rather listen to these than the beats or the bose headphones. That said, I don't typically use my vibrant to listen to music with headphones, if listen with headphones i have a dac hooked upto my pc that goes to a hornet headphone amp and a pair of hd650 sen's.
Since I drive to work and don't take public transportation, I find that I rarely am in a position to consume media from my phone in that manner.
I do like the shure se series, you should look into them and see if they're right for you.
I have a pair of klipsch (forgot the model), the sound quality is great. Highs and lows are very clear.

Ah nice to see another headphone enthusiast on xda. Im also running a usb dac from my laptop to a hifiman ef2 to drive my denon d2000s. Been thinking about picking up some hd600s to compliment the denons.

Samsung Supplied headphones, Volume+

Ok, so do these things just suck or is it something a good EQ could fix? they seem muffled and sadly my Klipsch headphones were the victim of my electric seats in my car so I don't have anything to compare them to. It seems like they sound better on my G2X, but Volume + seems to work on the G2X where it doesn't on my Galaxy S 2.
Oddly the free version of Volume + does seem to work, but it has no EQ settings. Anyone else noticed any issues here or have any advice?
Music is a big part of owning an android phone for me, if its gonna sound like crap over headphones then I'm gonna be hurting.
PowerAmp has some very nice EQ presets and controls. Now with Version 2.0 it is even better. I guess that Jugs ROM has DSP too for some sound tweaking.
Guess I'll DL DSP manager again I paid Volume+ and it was a great app for a while, guess I got my $0.99 worth for sure.
actually for once, these are very nice premium quality earplug headphones and functional, compared to previous ones from past phone releases, that were of low quality

And they don't sound muffled to you on the Galaxy S 2?
I think they sound better on my LG G2X so it makes me think it's a phone issue. I know it's not ROM as it carried over from the stock ROM to Juggs 1.1
what you are describing might the the audio chip people are complaining about all SGS2 using the yamaha instead of the worlfram whatever chip
have you tried hooking up the earplugs to another player?
i usually stream my music to by Stereo BT headset or car BT player
I don't like tons of treble, and especially hate the mid-highs. Compared to other OEM headphones bundled with phones, they're top notch. If you use SRS HD Audio Lab on your Windows computer, you can get some serious kickin bass out of them, bump up the highs and remove a ton of harshness.
i hate this type of headphones they just keep falling out of my ears lol...... I rather use the standard round ones from my htc lol
i too have small ear holes, so i can only use them for short periods of time, and when i'm not moving around, else they comes off on their own easily
i always buy the over the ear type, those that hangs on your ear
or simply use the big studio headset style which gives WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better sound quality.
in that remark, seems like Sony is now being over taken by skullcandy
you see them EVERYWHERE these days, subway, bus stops, school yards specially, some work places, etc.
if you see anyone using a Sony, it's like WOW! a needle in a haystack
other brands like the german Scheiner (whatever spelling), those are also rarely seen in public now in days
I actually think these are decent earbuds. I use them from time to time on my laptop. I have some better quality sony ones that I use with the gs2 though.
can anyone provide me with the controls for the headset?
(ex: press twice to ff a song, etc)

I've tried the stock headset (which is exactly the same as the headset that comes with the Nexus S) and the stock headset is alright. Better than Apple earbuds, but not earth shattering. If you're half-way serious about music then you are more likely to use your own earphones/headphones anyway

Really??? That's the only thing I hate on my Nexus S 4G - Low volume speaker, sometimes I dont even hear when my phone rings, or barely hear another person when using speakerphone..
Wasn't the case with Epic 4G (Sprint's Galaxy S), it was very loud.
I've tried Voodoo sound but it only helps headphones audio.

I use custom ringtones from an app called zedge, they're really great. If you download a certain ringtone or message notifier it can be louder.
I'm missing calls like crazy because of the low speaker volume output. I can't hear the text or email notifications either.
I'm not sure why they used such a low volume speaker on this unit. That's one thing that Motorola has always gotten right... a very loud speaker.
Oh well...

It may well be possible via an update - my HTC desire HD was woefully low.. Very quite from the speaker.. After an update a few months ago I noticed a significant improvement!
Wow. I thought my GN was faulty. Setting such a low speaker volume is criminal
I can attest to he quality of the audio output on the device (via the headphone jack) to be pretty decent. On par with the 4S, if that says anything. They're powering my headphones well enough.
The speakerphone? Yeah, there's no denying that it isn't top-notch.

Actually my loudspeaker is par. Doesn't compete with matrix loudness though. It is very clear though and no bass. My earpiece is very clear too. It could definitely use a little boost though. Earphones with mics is very loud and clear. Same for Bluetooth.

Really? I was curious about this as well. I compared my Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S just now with the bundled headphones. My 4S feels much louder and had more base. The Nexus sounded low and didn't have "thump". There's always a slight hiss in the background too.
I can barely here anything from the external speaker.. The system volume like locking he screen or tapping on icons.. Can't hear them on full voulme also! its so faintt..

The "Jack" on this phone is fine. I've tried several audiophile ear buds and headphones and find this phone with power amp to be pretty good. Music volume EQ is a decent app too if you want more bass and loudness.
Ditch the beats and get some vsonic or some klipsch and you'll see.

Guys, truth is the hardware isn't up to par on the audio side on this phone. That's been proven. I know that even without looking at the internals of this phone coming from another Android device.
However, the OP called himself an audiophile, but had a pair of Beats... Whatever, but he is correct. I wouldn't say "sucks", but not as good as it should have been.

Download Neutron Music Player. It's worth paying for!! Its sounds much better than power amp(my old player); its louder, offers better headroom/snr ratio, direct hardware control, and doesn't lose any clarity, when using EQ. Also, Check to see what setting your music is encoded at. 320kbps for MP3 is the highest setting, but I go with Flac. If you know the basics of setting up an EQ and want great sounding audio, then download neutron! It actually gives an accurate representation of the music, as opposed to most mods which are meant to "Enhance" your listening experience, but don't depict the true sound of the recorded audio. Whenever I mix down a new recording, I trust Neutron with my MDR's, SE215's, and grado's headphones for the true sound! For fun, I add about 3-5db around 40-50hz for some extra punch; especially when bumping some electronic or hip hop. Furthermore, I wouldnt recommend beats headphones. They're tuned strictly for hip hop and electronic music. They add all sorts of obnoxious EQing at 50-80HZ, 3khz, 5khz, 7khz, and 10khz, so they'll sound like garbage on any other genre of music. I attached a link of how sloppy the frequency response is on these so called, "Studio" headphones. If you're looking for a great headphone, check out head-fi.org. They offer reviews of over 266 headphone, arranged by price range. Let us know how you make out!

One of the biggest reasons I choose Android over Apple is for the audio. Although the volume of music on Apple products reach unbelievable heights, the sound quality itself is not any better than what most Androids have to offer, even on their stock music players. Furthermore, why would you even want to listen to your music at top volume on an iPhone? You'll be deaf within a minute.
Our Galaxy S3 has absolute trash for presets. Listen to every single preset. You'll find that most of them will raise the volume of vocals when there's no background bass, and the vocals volume will lower when the bass kicks in again. It's annoying, it sounds as of you're putting your head next to a speaker, and shaking it around so that the music gets a wavy effect. Thankfully, Samsung gave us a beautiful option at the bottom of the list of those poor excuses for presets, called "Custom." In it is a 7 band equalizer that's actually very damn decent.
The Beats by Dre, although frowned upon, is perfect for the equalizer on the S3. I myself, am a basshead. I love my music to have some rumble and thump to it. Just play around with the bands until you find the perfect eargasm type sound. What I love on the S3, is that the volume is quite loud. With most phones, equalizing audio sacrifices a lot of volume. With this phone, my equalizing will barely phase the volume of my music.
When I equalize, it'll go something like this: The lowest (first) band will be set the highest, giving the music that precious deep rumble, but adding punch as well. The second band is set significantly lower than the first in order to retain that punchy bass. This makes the vocals sound more shallow though, but I dont care too much because I hate flat bass. The third band effects both bass and vocals about equal, so I set it to about midway between what the first and second bands are set at. This gives the vocal a deeper touch, but doesn't take too much away from bass punch. The middle band is what mainly effects vocals. I set it one below the third, because setting it too high gives the vocals a bit of an airy or dry sound to it. For the fifth band, I put it one higher than the third. The last two band are set higher than every band except for the first one. It livens up the treble so that the instrumentals don't sound boring.
My equalizer preset is extremely coloured, but that's just how I like it to sound. It's almost a V shaped equalizer I guess. Big bass, recessed mids, and high treble. I have the V-Moda Crossfade LP's for my headphones.
I dunno, this post might not have been of much help, but I just felt as if I should offer my 2 cents.
For some reason having beats makes you a complete moron now a days ?The reason I have beats is beacuase one of my fav genres is hip hop, and when it comes down to it, beats sound decent when it comes to rap/hip hop you cant deny it. For every thing else yes they are trash so I use my M50s.

Beats are the "trend". Most audiophiles don't take them or anybody that uses them seriously.
I've owned a pair and can honestly say my daily use creative aurvana buds sound better than any beats I've tried. Hip hop is my music of choice.
The Yamaha eph-100's are great for hip hop too..
$150 can get you some iems that are twice as good for half the price of beats.

But he has the ATH-M50, which are seriously good headphones
I wasn't happy either with the S3 sound, having heard what a quality is, I bought the cheapest decent DAC - Fiio E7 and it sounds great with my M50's

i might have to invest in a cheap amp then :/

Great BUT badly let down

OK so I got the phone the other day and YES YES YES once again we have a winner
BUT
Headphones!!! Samsung have for some reason they have placed a VER POOR set of headphones from AKG.
I was excited to put them in when I got home but that excitement didn't last. The sound is tinny with no real deep sound to it. Even 2016 S6 Edge headphones were much better.
WHY o WHY o WHY can't someone in testing/development really sit and listen to audio before approving them?
Michael
i use the cheap as chips betron headphones. the bass blows u away!

they put out plenty of bass with an eq. also, dont forget headphones need to burn in for 100-150 hours.
Is this a troll post?
Miles better than any set of headphones Samsung have ever included. Check the EQ settings in the menu.

headphones just like any speaker have a break in period. Most people fail to realize this and judge a speaker immediately for sound. Best thing I've found to do if you want to break them in quickly is anytime you are not using the headphones, plug them into an ipod, computer, etc. and play a bunch of music on repeat so it hits highs and lows and leave them playing. Easy to get 12-15 hours a day of constant use if you don't use them much, or if you use them even more. Leave them run all night in another room, etc.
Edit: These headphones remind me a lot of the Shure studio style headphones. They have a very neutral sound that needs an EQ adjustment to bring it to your tastes (referred to as colorless sound.) I might feel different after break in but this is what they remind me of for now.
Most people are used to stuff like beats, Bose, etc. that heavily color the sound in their own way. Sometimes to the point an EQ can't fix it.

Totally agree!!!! How can you complain about a better product you use to getting

I Think the headphones are great. Not sure start you are listening to but you might need to mess with your eq or get your hearing checked.
Supposedly they are not AKG headphone but Samsung headphones tuned by AKG.
Can't really complain about something we received for free -> especially when that "something" is much better than what we are used to receiving with a new phone.
Headphones, like many things, are user specific - we ALL won't like the same type of headphones since there are so many other criteria that goes into what makes a pleasurable listening experience for the average user -> genre of music, ear type, source quality etc...
If sound is that important to you, invest in a nice pair of headphones -> you won't regret it.
I was immediately impressed. OP, do you know what depth is? That was the first thing I noticed and I'm only a beginner audiophile at best. Actually more depth and range than my BT Beats. Heard sounds in songs I hadn't heard before, maybe even the whinny of a unicorn.

audiophile and beats do not belong in the same paragraph or sentence ever...LOL
I like the headphones... sounds good
Not better than my SoundMagic E10's.
I took these on a journey to wembley yesterday...
At first I was amazed. Then after a little tuning and when I got them just right, they sound phenomenal
Sounds great in my S8+ and in my Lenovo laptop...
In fact they are the only ones I use right now.

I found that BUNDLED AKG are better in mids and highs than Momentum IEM but lacking in bass. Tried with exynox 955f.
So when you buy a phone all you really care about are the headphones? So your paying 800+$ for headphones? Why don't you just save yourself some money and BUY some good headphones? Now that said I tried them and you are correct they don't have a ton of bass but I thought the clarity and sound was VERY good. If I want the bass I will through on some Beats. Also after I changed the size of the ear plug things so they were tighter the bass was a little better.
