Battery problem? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

<Hello world>
I have this issue, I have a Hercules black and when i turn on the phone it stuck in boot logo, it passes Samsung logo, then quickly to T-Mobile loading screen, it keeps there 2 to 5 sec, then to samsung and 2 seconds after just reboot and again and again, so I connect it to charger, it says almost full battery, ok, I turn in on, boots normally but in last boot screen (Samsung logo) it keeps there about 1 minute and finally enters to Android, I wiped the phone almos 3 times, changed rom to 4.0.4 and 4.1.2 again, its not rooted, its in stock, and the phone randomly shut down, I dont know why, because I made a Antuntu Benchmark to check if the problem maybe will be caused by CPU load but nothing, it turns off in Facebook , so I left it in standby about 30 minutes and when i get back the phone was soo hot, i pulled battery off and I dont see nothing strange in it, the phone was hot, not the battery, also i taked apart to see if a cable was bad connected but nothing, so I dont know what it haves.
Also, sorry for bad english.

Sounds like u may have a power button issue, if not that then I would suggest updating to 4.1.2 or rooting the device and not switching back and forth without rooting like that...

I checked it, but it doesnt turn on by himself when i put the battery and it doesnt keep vibrating except when it turns off by himself, i watched that when I am using it it just get too damn hot in camera area and it turns off, also when i make a call or answer it it just freeze it and i cant hang off and press any key, so i have to quit the battery, also i dont get sound, i dont know if its related, i dont get sound from speaker or earphones but from the front speaker i get sound for calling...

Someone can tell me what problem is it? I dont know what part i have to repair and I need to use the phone.

[Q] Is my phone bricked???

so, while listening to music the other day on my new evo rockin' cm7 rc2, the volume would turn up, but not down, so I decided to take out the battery. I left it out for a second, and when I put it back in, the phone would not turn on.
I took it to the car, and let it charge for about three hours, then tried to turn it on.. the phone just vibrates 3 times, and starts blinking the green light like there's a message, but the screen never turns on.
When I try to boot it into recovery, the phone vibrates 5 times, but still gives me the same result...
So, I was just wondering if my phone is completely gone, or maybe something is wrong with the battery?
Try a new battery first. Are you able to get into recovery?

it seems that my phone is just stuck i diagnostic mode, anyone know how to disable it.
I know leaving the battery out for a LONG period of time will allow you to boot into bootloader, anyone know how much time?

Xperia play vibrates but doesnt turn on?!?!

Hi,
So I've had my Xperia Play (R800i) for almost a year now. It was working perfectly fine like any other day, then i didn't charge it one night. So now, it doesn't turn on at all. I hold down the power button, it vibrates, like it always does to tell me its turning on.. But nothing! Nothing comes up, the screen just stays blank like its turned off. My first thought is to take out the battery and put it back in but nothing. I try countless times, but still the end result, was a blank phone. When i put it on charge (before i hold the power button), nothing happens, then after a few seconds the LED charging light turns on, it was orange or red, i cant remember, so i left it like that. Came back a few hours later, the light was green, but still nothing happens when i try turn it on, except that little pitiful vibrate i get every time. I did leave my phone off by itself for a bit and still the same result. Yes my phone was rooted but i did this way back before this happened. So please help me, i beg of you.

I had this problem, and if you flash a JB kernel, you will see that the screen will show up, so the problem is that ALS chip doesn't work anymore, so you have to replace it, in ebay there are a ton of them. I thought it was a water damage in my case and i broke it, so won't boot up anymore.

This might be off topic but i LOL'd a bit there. I know he is just trying to help and I also get your point but it made me giggle when i read your post like "wtf bro why do you always have the same answer in every black screen thread." I don't know, maybe I'm just nuts. LOL!
Anyway, back to topic, We have the same situation. Black screen and just vibrates when you switch it on. It's been 4 days since my phone died on me. I really missed my Xperia Play now. But as fma965 said on the other Q&A thread, it might be the flex cable. Good luck and I hope you can fix your phone. Not unlike me, my only option is to buy a new one.

[Q] URGENT HELP:Phone won't boot

I've had they Hercules for just over a year now but have only been using it for the past four months. I have only downloaded educational apps. However, yesterday i was not using it and came back to find it vibrating every 2-3 seconds. I removed the battery and left it out for an hour. When i replaced the battery, the phone began to reload but stopped during the boot, made a noise I've never heard before and began to vibrate as if going into recovery/download mode. I have been running ics for the past 4 months. The phone does not boot at all and is very frustrating . I have also tried charging it with no luck. Can anyone assist me with this problem??
sounds like you have the dreadful power button fail it gets a little jammed up try sticking a toothpick or something skinny in there and wiggle it a bit see if that works for you if not check if your still under warranty are you rooted or stock ICS?
u have a bad power button. try unsticking it.
Agreed. A friend had a similar issue and his power button was stuck.
I'm rooted and the warranty is up

Strange enough this just happened to me 10 minutes ago. I did manage to get the phone to boot after slapping the hell out if my power button which gave me the only means to get into recovery so now I can comment from experience. Ive been running pac for 3 weeks. Just yesterday my phone started doing really weird ****, dont know if it's just coincidence, calls would go through to random people, every time I clicked gallery I got a random reboot, I couldnt call voicemail, and trying to change wallpapers gave a reboot. Today I was changing a wallpaper and boom random reboot then began the loop and vibrating. A few things I noticed while this was happening, if I attempted to go into recovery the samsung splash screen appeared followed by the stock kernel splash( samsung and the blue bar at the bottom) which made me believe it wasnt the power button but indeed rom or kernel problem, also my led flashed once while going through the vibrate loop and I know the power button has nothing to do with that. I did manage to get pac to boot about 4 times by slapping the hell out of my power button but it went back to the loop after a few seconds so the next time I managed to get it to boot I held the power button and booted to recovery. Once I was able to get in to recovery I restored a liquid smooth back up. Ive powered the phone off and on with no problem. Now I'm just waiting to see what happens through out the day. I was running pac with cerux when this happened. I truly believe this is not a hardware problem at all until I get it again with another set up. If you need help I getting your phone to boot I could possibly be of assistance so pm me unless you want to keep getting responses from people who haven't experienced this at all. This was the single most scariest experience Ive had since I ve been flashing, even worse than my brick because I knew I bricked immediately.

[Q] My TMO S3 (T-999) will not turn on.

I didn't have luck finding an answer to this on the forums so I figured I'd make a new post. I have been running a version (not sure which) of Liquid Smooth for a few months. Yesterday, I noticed my phone was on a boot loop. It would vibrate, show the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen and then turn off. I pulled the battery and memory card and tried again. It still wouldn't come on. I pulled the battery and then rebooted to recovery mode. I went there to wipe and reboot. When I tried to do that it said something like, "what you are looking for can't be found". I pulled the battery again but this time when I tried to turn it back on it did nothing. I have no vibrations, I have nothing on my screen. I'm not sure what could have happened because I haven't made a change to my phone for quite some time. Any ideas?

Battery is going bad or the hardware is going bad.
What recovery and version?
Have you tried booting into recovery or download mode?
Take battery out and put back in:
Recovery: volume up, home button, power
Download mode: volume down, home button and power

I'm not able to get the phone to come on so I don't know the versions of anything I've used. All I know is my phone is the T-999. Sorry, I know that's probably no help at all.
You don't have a spare battery do you? If not, you should see if you can find someone you know that has one. It could be that you battery just went bad.

I tried all of this but did not have any luck. The phone doesn't do anything. It doesn't make any sense how it can just stop working out of nowhere like this. Wouldn't it mess up immediately after I rooted/added a custom ROM if I did something wrong rather than a few months later? I'm afraid that the phone may be done for. : (

I hate to say it, but usually when something like this happens it's most likely to be hardware related. If you don't have access to a spare, go to a T-Mobile store and ask to borrow a battery to see if it'll power up with a known good one. Batteries usually don't just die like that, but it can happen.
So you don't get a short vibe or anything out of it? What about when you hold the power button for about 10seconds? If you remove the battery and plug it in, do you get an led lit up? How about with the battery in?
If the battery turns out to be good, you could attempt the debrick method by KAsp3rd stickies in development. I don't see why it would be a brick, but at this point I'd try anything available just to be positive.
If you have insurance on it, it may be time to consider using it.
Sorry to hear this is happening to you man. These S3's are starting to get a little old though, and no matter how careful we are, they do suffer more abuse than any other electronics we may use. I'm seeing more and more posts like yours recently, I'm sorry to say.
Keep us updated on it, and good luck with it!

S III sgh-i747 turned off and wont turn on URGENT

i apologize if this has been solved but i am on a very tight time frame as i need this phone for work and cant spend any longer searching. my phone randomly turned off by itself this morning and will not turn back on. it gets to the samsung splash screen and the screen just goes black and the phone wont do anything, its like the screen is stuck off, i have to take the battery out to make it turn do anything at all again. it was stock this morning, never been rooted or anything, i just rooted it about an hour ago and installed twrp and flashed jedi invasion 5 on it in hopes it would help. now it gets past the splash screen and to the initial setup screen but it only stays on it for about 3 seconds before the screen goes black again and i have to take the battery out for it to do anything again. im not an expert by any means but i have flashed note 2's and played with them a bit and know my way arround them for the most part. any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
almost forgot to mention, in download mode it says qualcomm secureboot: enable
not sure if that means anything but i didnt get any errors while flashing or anything
thanks everyone

I would make sure you have to correct drivers installed for the phone on your computer and ODIN back to stock. You can give that a try and see if it helps.
I'll check that out when I get home but I'm pretty sure everything is right, it was doing it before I even flashed anything so I think something else is the problem

Faulty battery or power button. You can try ODIN back to stock, not likely it will help.
It's not a battery or power button problem. Before I rooted it if I took the battery out and turned it on again it would turn on fine if I kept the screen from turning off. and the battery was staying charged, and if it wer a power button problem why would it work to turn the phone on but not again after its on?

My vote is a faulty power button. Has been known to happen on the S3. Could be power issues though. Bad battery could be the culprit. If flashing stock does not work see if you can get a battery to test out.

ok so i flashed stock and it fixed it temporarily. after i flashed it it was working great so i decided to root it and flash jedi. so i did this and it still worked great. (at this point i should mention that the sim card in the phone has been deactivated this whole time) so since its working i activate the simcard, restart the phone, and the problem started again. so i took the sim card right out and turned it back on and it works perfectly fine without the sim card in... what do you guys figure? should i try a new sim card? has anyone ever herd of this happening before?
EDIT: tried my other sim card in it and it doesn't work either, so it snot the simcard itself
