I have the humble bundle app installed on my nexus 7. Recently I've tried to install PvZ from there and after it downloads I'm unable to actually install the app. Whenever I try to click on the install nothing happens. It's like the click doesn't register. The screen hasn't locked up however, because I can click cancel or anywhere else just fine. This happens for other apps as well. I think it's a recent occurrence because I was able to install apps like this previously.
If anyone has any idea what's going on, I would like to thank you.

Did you scroll to the bottom of the permissions? If the permissions take up more than one screen, you can't click install until you scroll all the way to the bottom.

Yeah, I scrolled all the way down. It's like the touchscreen stops registering touches on the install button, but still allows touches anywhere else.
Installation of apps from unknown sources still enabled?

I am having a problem installing the Amazon Appstore (and the foxfi installer too now that I think about it). I am able to download the APK and run it but once in the program the install button does nothing. I mean I click on it and there is no error message, no program crash, nothing. It's almost like the install button image isn't a button and I'm clicking on nothing. Clicking cancel or show all for the permissions works fine.
I have enabled install from unknown sources and even tried to disable it and try but nothing works. Has anyone encountered anything like this before? TIA for any help.
EDIT: BTW I'm on stock and not rooted.
SOLVED: Thanks to Zerkai it appears that Screen Filter and Screen Adjuster can prevent APKs from installing.
Try to install these apps with an APK Installer. Like the following.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwyLDEsImNvbS5wb3RlbnRlLmFway5pbnN0YWxsZXIiXQ..
See if that changes anything.

Just tried that and it is exhibiting the same issue. Called amazon and they hadn't heard of it and had no suggestions on how to fix it. They did mention security apps might be able to block installs and that led me to look at my apps. I did have Norton mobile security installed but stopping it and then even uninstalling it didn't get rid of the issue.
This is really starting to frustrate me.
May sound obvious, but have you tried restarting your phone?
If you were rooted I'd recommend clearing your dalvik and /cache.
One thing you may try is cleaning up your SD card.. Even try renaming the android folder on your sd card. It holds app data for diff apps. you system will recreate it. just delete the recreated on and change the name back after you've tested it.
The only other option (that comes to mind) is a factory reset. I would try the other stuff first. Something is corrupt somewhere.
By any chance are you using, Screen Filter?

I am not, but I did have screen adjuster installed and figured whatever screen filter was doing might be done by screen adjuster. So I uninstalled and guess what it worked now. Thanks a lot Zerkai, you the man.
But wtf would screen filter do that could cause this?
Beats me. Lol. I was baffled when I figured out Screen Filter was the cause. But all is well as long as it's not active. Have a good day!

Old thread. Yes, I know. Came across this thread trying to fix the same issue. The app causing the issue for me was JuiceDefender. I think JD controlling the screen's brightness level was the issue. Anyway, I disabled JD and I was able to access the button.

Tapdeck
Sorry to bump, but we can add Tapdeck to the list of apps that cause this problem. It's a live wallpaper.
My gs3, which is stock rooted, won't install certain apps. It lets me get to the screen where I have the options to Cancel or Install. I can cancel with no problems but when I tap install it does nothing. The first time this happened was with one of the free apps of the day from the Amazon app store and now it happened with two more apps I've tried to sideload. I've sideloaded apps before and I've install apps from the Amazon app store. I do have the install from unknown sources checked. I'm confused as to why this happens only with certain apps. None of the apps say they don't work with ICS but even if they did I believe I should still be able to install them, just get FCs or something
I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if someone might have any possible solutions. Any help or suggestions would be great.

Are you using something like screen filter or lux auto brightness? I have issues with those two because they "overlay" the screen and don't allow you to push the install buttons.
Sent from my SGH-T999
Wow that was too simple. Yes i have been using screen filter. Its weird though that i can press everything else on the screen just fine even the cancel button. I can even open my apps that are in the same spot on the screen as the install button. Guess i never tried to reinstall those apps without screen filter so this never even occurred to me.
Thanks for the help

I am rooted and uninstalled talkback and after every reboot, I see the talkback hand icon with the "talkback is enabled" in the notification bar. The temporary fix is to go into Accessability and turn off one or everything (varies time to time) that uses it and turn it back on, after this, talkback no longer shows in notification bar. At this point, it is gone until a reboot, in which it shows again.
I have even tried reinstalling talkback, disabling and freezing it then uninstalling, no change.
How can I get rid of this?

Stock ROM
Nobody?? This is driving me bonkers and I refuse to believe nobody else has this issue or can help me out
Try uninstalling, then delete dalvik cache and cache in recovery
Do you have Tasker or any other app which interacts with notifications.

tried disabling both others 1 by 1, no change
Using a File Explorer. Go in and make sure to delete the Folder that the app created. There may be something in there, that is causing the issue. Also if you are no longer going to use the App, there is no need for it to have a folder.

I ran a search with Root Explorer and found 4 results for "talkback"... all of which are on my external card as backups to versions of the app. Just got good measure I deleted and rebooted, issue remains.

musta missed this post, sorry. Tried this, issue remains.
I think your not removing the app correctly. It's remaining either in the apps folder or the system folder. There is something which is reinitializing the app and creating all the folders you already fou d.

I am uninstalling the app via ROM Toolbox. I freeze then uninstall it through that app. How might you suggest?
On the phone itself settings>apps, >all apps or go into your root explorer go to system apps and delete it right in there and reboot. Go back in and make sure it's gone. Right now your using a 3rd arty app to remove another app instead of going g to the root source.

Go into Menu - Settings - Application manager - All. Scroll down till you see the App. Tap on it. Tap Force stop. Tap Clear Data. Tap Uninstall. Then just as a precaution Reboot. It should then be gone.

It is not there as I have uninstalled it and can find no trace anywhere with any app or system app.
Reinstalled it so I could follow these steps. Followed EXACTLY as you suggestion. Force Stop, Cleared Data, Uninstall. At this point, it is again removed from the app list (as it was minutes ago). Rebooted and icon STILL shows after reboot. Confirmed Talkback app is not in App Manager. Used Root Explorer to ensure "talkback" is NOWHERE in my phone and verified it is removed from Accessibility screen.
I know how to uninstall an app, but it seems this sucker is embeded into the stock ROM somehow. Other ideas? Nobody else having this issue on Sprint S3?
After opening Accessibility and sitting on that page, the icon goes away after ~1-3minutes and/or clicking on any app that uses Accesibility, but will show again after next reboot.
UPDATE: I went and uninstalled EVERY app that used Accessibility (after MUCH hesitation and backing up the settings several times). Icon still remained. Rebooted and GONE!!!!! OMFG! A complete uninstall did it. Now to reinstall those I NEED and pray!
Hope it stays sorted. Try not to restore any data, or very little.

At this point I'd recommend a Full Wipe, and Flash.
It will always show up after reboot if u have anything turned on in accessibility-services settings. Go to accessibility scroll down to services and see what u have on and turn it off and the icon will go away turn it back on to use whatever u had turnded on

Hi,
Fairly basic Android user here with an irritating problem. Running whatever the most basic version of Lollipop is on my M8, installed today but this problem has been ongoing well before that.
So the problem is that the 'Install' button here on the screen in the image attached is totally unresponsive, no matter the app I'm trying to install. Showbox is here but that's just because it's an old apk I had on my phone, I've the same problem for anything I've tried.
In the fine words of Ned Flanders' father, I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas - thought it best to ask for advice from people who know more than me. Any advice much appreciated!

I have indeed!
Do you have any screen dimming app installed? I've had the same issue on my phone with total screen control, whenever I tried to install an app with TSC running the install button was unresponsive. When I stopped TSC from running I could press install without issue.
Some apps will for some reason stop you from hitting install. For example.... I use copy bubble... Which has a floating circle for accessing the clipboard. If that bubble is on my screen, I can't hit install... No matter where the bubble is on my screen. I just close the bubble and it's fine.
Look at apps that may be causing the same affect. ?

Just to confirm that this was the issue, would never had occurred to me! Was using Twilight, turning it off sorted it out. Thanks a million!
Glad you got it figured out. :highfive:
Good evening, just lately I have encountered a bug when trying to install APK's. When I go to install via Package Installer it will open up the screen and when I go to press next it doesn't do anything, I have tried rotating the screen and pressing Next and it just doesn't work whatsoever...
I powered off my device and powered back on and this seemed like it fixed the problem.
Is/has anyone else encountered this? I've also noticed ometimes when typing on the keyboard the sound goes tinny for 5 seconds or so and go back to normal, it's been like this since unboxing too.
I haven't had this issue exactly, but when I install a new app and it asks for permission to access my location/storage/etc.. I can't press Allow.. I can press Deny though no problem at all. Right now I'm manually going into apps/permissions and granting all my apps whatever I think it needs.. Just a pain to do it that way though!
I had this issue the other night. It seems an invisible overlay gets stuck sometimes. Not sure what app or why, but clearing all the recent apps fixed it for me. Try that if it happens again instead of waiting for the phone to restart.

Also had this problem two days ago and restarting seemed to fix it. I was disabling some of the stock apps at the time so I wondered if that had something to do with it but I don't know, don't think I re-enabled any of the apps or anything before or after the reboot and so far it's been working since.

Thanks for your feedback and I have also had that problem too. Of course yes we can go into app settings and enable and like you stated it's a pain haha. I know this isn't the place to point these problems out and get them fixed but it's nice to know I'm not the only one ??

I'd like to mention I have disabled and uninstalled quite a lot too, but I can't say if this adds to the problem. It'd just be really nice to hopefully get the new build of software that was recently announced on Xperia Blog but I can't say if this will fix the problems etc. I don't know? ??

I've experienced this issue as well and the culprit seemed to be an overlay permission from another app. As I'm sure everyone knows, this phone's screen is very bright even at it's lowest setting. I like to read at night and the light bothers my wife so I started using an app called Nightowl that further dims the screen. Nightowl produces a overlay that dims the entire screen. If i happen to be running nightowl and try to install the app, I can't tap install. Once I turn off the app I'm able to install like normal. Hope that helps lead you in the right direction as restarting the phone every time a problem presents itself is kind of a bummer.
