[Q] Don't make calls - Sony Xperia ZL

I bought my Sony Xperia ZL in Vancouver, Canada. Its model number is C6506, its build number is 10.3.A.0.423 and its Android version is currently 4.2.2.
Before I leave Canada, I unlocked it then I come to Brazil. Its Android version was 4.1.2 and when Sony launched news updates, I did it on my phone.
After I updated it, the function for making calls doesn't work anymore. I type any number, then I click on the button to call and nothing more happens. It's like I didn't have press anything. Everything on my phone works well, like 3 or 4G, SMS and I receive calls, or collect calls. The only call that I make it's Emergency Call.
What could be that is preventing me to make calls ? Any other doubts, can ask me any time.

Hmm. Discover a logcat for call related messages.

Man, thanks for your answer, but how can I discover a logcat for call related messages?
Best regards

I perhaps had a similar experience: dialing on the dialer would produce a gray screen, after which nothing seemed to happen.
However, I found that after waiting a bit (from 10 seconds up to several minutes), the phone would either start the dialing procedure or go back to the dialer.
I suspect this coincided with other running apps acquiring root privileges in the background, and superuser not handling these quick enough. I've since replaced superuser with supersu and have yet to experience this issue. Then again, I hardly ever use my phone for calling someone.

[Q] Strange: I hear the Caller before I pick up the pohe

Hi All! (pohe = phone)
I have a strange "problem": sometimes when I receive a call, I hear the caller's voice before I pick up the phone. I hear that she or he is breathing, speaks to somebody, etc. Same thing as in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5W0OWDPhn0
How is it? Do You know something about it?
Now I use LeeDroid 2.2, but the same thing happened with the stock ROM, so I don't think it's ROM-related...but who knows...
Thanks!
There is a similar thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745969
But without a solution.

I've narrowed this down in my case to it being an issue with receiving calls from the AT&T mobile network. All the calls I've received that do this are from AT&T users or Net 10 users (which are using the AT&T network). No issues with calls from other Sprint users, Verizon, etc. As of now, Sprint hasn't been able to offer a fix.

So it might be an issue with the carrier not the phone or rom, maybe the sim, don't know.
Thanks for Your answer, I'll check this tread.

Xperia ION native dialer doesn't seem to work with calling card dial

I upgraded my wife's SE W890i to Sony Xperia ION (LT28a) phone three weeks ago and I just found out that ION's native dialer doesn't seem to work with calling card dial . An example of the calling card dial is to put access number, PIN and the number you want to dial into the dialer as followings:
800-555-1212,0123456789,202-555-1212 where 800-555-1212 is access number, "," is a "pause", 0123456789 is PIN and 202-555-1212 is the destination #.
I've used this calling card dial feature for more than 8 years, all my smart phones or non-smart phones have supported this feature. But for whatever reason, it doesn't work on Xperia ION. Has anybody seen this issue with Xperia ION? I've not done any mod on this phone yet, I'm still using stock (GB) ROM.

Yes, I'm on GB. If calling card dial feature works for everyone else, then I must have a bad LT28a. I'm going to BestBuy for exchange.
Thank you guys for looking at this.

I went to local BestBuy store this evening and put my simcard to their demo LT28at phone. It turns out that the calling card dial feature doesn't work their demo phone either. Now I'm convinced there is a bug in the LT28at GB stock firmware to prevent customer to use the calling card dial feature.
Same Problem but with ICS Galaxy S2

I'm having the same problem. I've been dialing into a morning conference call for the last 2 years and now my new S2 with ICS doesn't register any numbers dialed after the connection (Most numbers anyway...the 9 seems to be working fine lol).

I went to local AT&T store last weekend, and played with some of their latest Android phones, such as LG nitro HD and Samsung GS3, none of them didn't seem to work. I'm wondering if AT&T purposely blocks this feature on their latest Android phones. I have a 18 month old motorola Atrix, the calling card dialing has been working perfectly fine.

I am wondering if you have to use the Wait instead of Pause.
Unfortunately the wait doesn't work either.

I am not sure how any of you got conference call numbers to work from the contacts. My HTC Evo V won't see the pauses nor with my Sony TL. My Motorola Triumph has the same affliction.

Care to enlighten us on this "call waiting paradox"? I have never had an issue with call waiting.

It's important for you to specify carrier and which version of the phone you have. I presume from your other posts you have a Verizon GNex. The first respondent to your thread is in Manchester so I presume they have the same as I do - the GSM/HSPA version. I have never had issues with call waiting and I am thinking this is probably an issue with only the CDMA/Verizon variant.
there's an issue with call waiting? why didn't anyone tell me
maybe its an issue with your provider.
Well...I'm a Toro and have no issues.
Never did.
But do you mean the bug where you suddenly go mute to the other party?
I heard from most people that that was fixed for them on 4.1.1 ROMs.
Ok. So if I am on a call and I answer the phone to pick up call 2 everything is sort of fine but I cannot tell who I am on the phone with. It just say on a call. There is no where I can switch to the other call, call #1. No swap button, or anything. Then when I hang up with call #2 it seems to have hung up on call #1. But if u wait about 10 seconds the phone rings and call #1 is there... I cannot just simply hang up and call #1 is there. I am not the only person with the issue, as I have seen it frequently on the Web being reported.
I am on a Verizon LTE version of the phone. My fiance has the same phone, same issue.

Definitely doesn't happen on the HSPA version. Tried it last night.
I seem to remember a thread where someone was complaining about difficulty controlling multiple calls on the CDMA iPhone, and their screens looked significantly different from the GSM/HSPA iPhone. Are there certain limitations to CDMA networks?
I know the issue has been around since ICS. I have always experienced it, root and unrooted... Here are some other threads of people complaining, as I have researched this quite a bit. I would be willing to try out another for Verizion CDMA if I knew it would fix the issue. I am currently running "Vicious-Toro V1-JellyBean 4.1.1 "
Anyway here is another thread I have found with people complaining about this:

unable to make vonage calls using wifi/3g/4g after rooting and cyanogenmod upgrade

I have been using Samsung Galaxy S3 from Tmobile (T999) which has been running 4.1.2 android and everything was working fine..Recently I have rooted the phone and installed cyanogenmod ROM which upgraded the phone to Android 4.2.2. After this both Vonage mobile and extensions wont work with either Wifi/3G/4G. Yes none of them work. When I make a call, it goes upto "ringing" and immediately the call gets dropped no matter which number I call. Only vonage to vonage mobile calls go through. Any call to non vonage land or cell phone gets dropped right away. Ran through each and every possible troubleshooting step with tech support on the phone without any luck....anyone out there to help with similar issues or tell me if it is compatibility issue with phone being rooted/custom ROM?..this is driving me nuts searching google and trying to figure out what is the issue...please help anyone who know.

Pretty sure I saw someone else complaining about it a while ago. It's an issue with Vonage on 4.2.2, if I remember.

Nexus 7 LTE as a phone - opinions?

I have a note 1 GT-N7000 and almost never talk on my cell phone - I use my Gvoice VOIP for that with a real home phone. However, there will be times I'll need to talk on a cell phone.
Anyone have any idea if or how this might be workable on a nexus 7 lte with say, the T-mo $30 walmart plan (100 minutes a month, 5GB data)? I know that there are VOIP app options like GrooveIP but that has really sucked for me in the past. I doubt there will be a voice mic on the nexus 7 LTE but bluetooth would work. The only problem I see is there not being a native dialer?
Is this somewhat possible or is this a hopeless endeavor?

probably a lack of response as there are 2 or 3 current threads with responses in the past 24 hrs.
there is a microphone.
you can make VOIP calls via speaker method.
i installed a dialer from the playstore and could not make calls.
i installed GO SMS PRO from the playstore and SMS work perfectly.
i installed LINE & WHAT'S APP and they work fine.
my voice calling relies on skype:
OUTGOING - using on using skype Caller ID to identify my usual Australian mobile phone number
INCOMING - calls to my Australian mobile phone number are forwarded to my Australian skype number

But we cannot do a normal call. Is hardware or a software problem?
Has anyone got a native dialer to work at all?
You're not going to be able to make cellular voice calls on the Nexus 7 LTE. It doesn't have the hardware.
I'll sell you my Samsung Galaxy 7.7 if you want a giant phone, however.

It is probably not a hardware limitation. Hopefully there will be ways to get around. I love my 7.7 but the Nexus is definitely better

well today i've installed Go SMS on my N7 LTE n i was able to receive and even send SMS (real SMS through mobile carrier network, not the OTT service).
I've also tried to install Go contacts, which has a dialer to test the phone call ability but no luck, N7 didn't seem to catch the call although i could still hear bip bip through my phone (which call the N7' sim)
conclude: n7 can go texting just fine, but can't make a call. i don't know if developers can solve the latter.
