You probably can't additional smileys, but there are ways to use modified whatsapp apk to show custom icons.
But even that wouldn't really help because the reciever would have to have the same modified whatsapp to receive them the same way
Only way I can think off to add custom emoticons is have an app/folder with emoticon pics that you want and add them as images whenever you want

EDIT : found apps in play store that do this, but its like I mentioned using the add image option rather than smiley

I just got my HTC blackstone, and is very happy with it!
BUT, I think the sms "reader" app sucks.
Does someone know about an app that make it look more like Iphones, mabye someone wants to make one?

I like this. But do you need to let VITO SMS-CHAT running in the background for this new sms popup to be displayed? Is there a way to make this the default Windows Mobile SMS App?

The threaded sms reader that comes with PocketCM Contact is the best looking that i've seen (once you install the Dark Diamond II - 0.3 skin). And it's free!

I use this app, and you don't need to open it for the notification to come up. Just install it and turn off your normal SMS alerts, and it's your default. It's a really, really great program for threaded SMS. It even lets you export all chats into a word file. I just wish they'd come up with some better skins.

Thanks! The TF3D theme is from Lagunadub which is a proper theme. The task bar and bottom bar are Wisbar Advance 3 and I'm using a compilation of a couple different skinners work for that look. I can't take credit for any of it other than customizing it to my likings.

Agreed. What I originally started looking for was a program that had a nicer notification than that of the stock windows notification. I really liked how Vito SMS Chat looked and I've been very happy with it!
now aint this sad, i'd use vito smschat for all features NOW except well.. the threaded sms

I've installed SMS-Chat on a LG Incite and it freezes when trying to use, but if my phone is connected to the computer it works fine. Also, how do you turn off normal SMS alerts. Please help.
For me, the default TF3D threaded sms is just fine.... Can't be bothered to pay for a sms application ffs...!!!

Under Settings-Personal-Sounds & Notifications... Open here the Notifications tab and select the "Messaging: New text message" event.

hi i've installed sms-chat on ml LG Incite and it always freezes but when i finished installing it it works fine but after I soft reset my device it starts freezing. some one pls help.

However, it does not install on NRG's rom Maxmanila 23554? but I think that the idea is good and it needs some tweaking (other graphic files perhaps) to get it installed on other roms.
Anyone else's GO SMS not showing the sender's name for text messages, just the #? No issues until ICS.
To add to that ive got a gosms notification in my top bar to say ive got a new message. I can see the first few words of the message but when i click on it i cant see the text (i just get the text box to reply) and it doesnt exist in the stock sms app either.
I have this problem as well, also custom themes do not work at all. I've abandoned gosms for handcent for now at least. It's too bad the ICS theme for gosms looks so great too!

Yeah - I had the same problem. I've switched to stock Messaging app and SMS Popup out of necessity, but now that I know Handcent works I might try that.

The big feature is SMS pop up - it's super nice. SMS pop up doesn't remove the text from the notification bar, but it does mark it read, which is annoying. Handcent works alright.

Developer is working on update for GO SMS to be compatible with ICS - I have found Chomp to work the best in the mean time
GO SMS for ICS released this morning! Fixed...kind of.
Some of the messages have been linked to the contact, but not all. Can't see the pattern either. Again, only occurs within the app. Quick Reply is fine.

- Link Facebook status updates with contacts
- Link Facebook pictures with contacts
If the two above are not possible:
- When setting a 256x256 picture that is good quality as a contact picture, is there a way to have it remain good quality? Every picture I assign contacts looks like crap and pixelated

- Is it possible to create folders in the app drawer?
- Is it possible to change the color of a new message in the text messaging application? When you get a new text it's white instead of light grey, and it's hardly noticeable which conversation is the new one.. is there a way to set the new conversation (in the message inbox overview) to say a light blue that matches the rest of the UI? Or even have a notification beside the message (where it displays all the messages) to let you know which one if the new message?

**Unfortunately this is a problem on Google's end. The servers they use to store contact information on have very low picture resolution. like 96x96 low. Solution: in the account settings, turn off sync google pics or use hacksync

**Neither one of these options are possible unless your rooted. even then I haven't seen a mod for adding folders to the app drawer. It could be out there but I doubt it. There are mods for changing the apperance of the stock msg app but you are limited to whatever the themer wants it to look. (I actually feel the same way about the calender ut so far I haven't seen a good replacement theme for it yet). however, if you want full control to customize your SMS the way you want, you can either download GO SMS or Handcent SMS from the store. Both offer full customization for all aspects of the application.

I downloaded HaxSync and it's awesome! The pictures are good quality and it shows recent activity from my contacts.
I'm going to try an alternative messaging application. If I have two messaging applications open though at the same time (does the stock messaging app run as a background process all the time?), will it slow my phone down?

It will run, and is required to fetch the messages. It won't slow anything down.
Go launcher EX allows you to make folders in the app drawer i believe.
I havent used it for a while but its a really good replacement launcher and has tons of features.
You might like that.

It'll be fine mate, just remember to turn off the notifications in the stock messaging app.

Not at all. Just disable notifications in the stock app and you're good to go with the replacement.
I'm on stock yakju 4.04 and yes, I'm able to create a folder and drag it to my app tray.

Hi, is there any way to disable the hyperlink in SMS? I find it's so annoying sometime, or how can I edit it cause for most non-Roman letters the hyperlink marks the normal characters. Thanks.

i dont if there is a solution for this but using a 3rd party sms client like HANDSCENT SMS should help :good:

There is nothing much to understand in this app anyways.. their official website has stated what this app can do...
so..
if I've understand how this app works the app itself read whatsapp messages and show them outside the app, so if I open WA my status will be update but if I read the same message from the toolkit there will not be any update, right?

I installed the app and then it asked to make a backup, made it and then when i received a ping it dint dispaly it in whatsapp toolbox.
When i clicked on the msgs from notification drawer it went to actual whatsapp app.
I am on RASTAKAT 4.4 ROM.
Just open the WhatsApp toolbox if there are chats thn simply chat from whatsapp toolbox not from main whatsapp app.. that's it..
