when I flex lightly the USB cable, it loses connection, and my first nexus 7 of 2012 was kaput after 2 months.
2013 failed after 1 week of use.
these USB cable are really bad quality.

Don't bend it?
I didn't bend it at all.
but a light flexion cut the connection.
I put the tablet vertical, against a wall, and the light pressure on cable cut the connection. even on flat surface, same problem.
I never had an issue with a usb cable after I stop climbing trees with them.
I changed USB cable and same happen.
so I revert back to original cable and now the issue didn't come back!
just wondering!

My advice: Don't go bungee jumping with USB cords. It's highly unacceptable, and then you've got the risk of losing your cord.
In all seriousness I did hear some usb cables have been know to commit suicide by cutting it self if you don't pay it enough attention. There are hotlines just for that situation.
It s my ubs port which is failing.
I have more and more probably to get a charge sign . I need to twist a little the USB to get a charge.
What can I do? Open the tablet?
If you can't return it I wouldn't try to open it if you can't afford a new tablet. Go get a cheap wireless charger and hope you don't have any issues with that.
I can afford but prefer to be back in Europe to send it to nexus repair.
Now I m looking for a qi charger on ebay...

Anyone experiencing a loose usb port. I just got my ATT Tilt2 last week and noticed that the usb plug can be wiggled while inserted, which makes it lose the usb connection.
i have the tmobile version and it jiggles ever so slightly...had it for about 3 weeks now...my old mda usb port broke so i ame very conscious of this issue...
also, the keypad seems a little loose around the spacebar area, like its starting to come unglued
...
My old HTC Vogue developed that problem after about 1 year of use. My week old Tilt2 is quite snug. I don't think it's normal for the plug to be loose enough to lose the connection on a brand new phone.
Try a different USB cable. Not all USB jacks and cables are created equal, I have a few USB cables from other devices with the plug slightly too big for my phones (I don't want to force them in) and a few others that are too loose for them, thus difficult in making a good connection.
Over the last several weeks I've noticed that the USB port is a lot looser. Now if I accidentally just touch the USB cable (the official HTC one) it will lose synch and reconnect.
And actually, if I'm charging via USB on laptop, it is now LOSING charge rather than charging :s

All of these parts are inexpensive and user-replaceable. Might be irritating that it should not be in need of repair but I would not let it f up your day.
Loose USB MIGHT be related to the female receiver end having a loose cinch plate. Use a magnifiying glass and a toothpick to check it. If that is not it, a cinch of the male end with a needle nose plier, just a tiny bit, might do the trick.
I'm going to call ATT warranty and see whether this is normal. I have tried several cables, all are about the same. Will see what they say. Thanks for the replies.

On the phone with them right now. They are offering to replace the phone.
Hi all, anyone else having problems with their charging cable? Basically mine no longer goes into my desire! I've compared my cable to my partners and it looks like the 2 locking pins on mine are stuck in the lock position, like the cable is plugged into the phone. I just can't seem to get them to release! I can't push the cable into the phone as these little pins must click into little grooves or something that possible shuts a latch that holds the cable in place. My girlfriends cable goes in fine though, so at least I can still charge it. Has anyone got an idea on how to sort my cable?

the htc charging cable is sh*t quality imo, My phone fell off my desk while it was charging and it stopped working aftestill r that. Thankfully, nokia uses the same usb cable when I was using the e71. Their's is much more sturdier. My desire has fallen from my desk a few times now and it's still good to go. I'd try and get a nokia usb cable if you're looking for a new one. Just my 2 cents. =)

Are you saying that HTC cable is bad if u drop your phone to floor a lot?
Is this USB cable only thing that keeps your phone on your desk?
MicroUSB cables are cheap to come by So a replacement isn't exactly going to cost a bomb.
Long story short my nexus got sent to warranty by accident/someone else's mistake.. before I could flash factory rom and lock bootloader.
I'm pissed off and worried. The problem was that the charging jack gives issues. At times it charges properly, other times it thinks its through USB. Once a charger is connected after rebooting, the phone thinks the charger is always connected even after you remove the charger.
Will they look at this and say its a software problem (even though its not) and send it back with a voided warranty? Or will they change the part without checking software or even better send me a refurb right away? Or will I just get it unfixed where I can flash to factory then send back?
I really don't know what to do. So far its been 9 days since it was sent.
For those wondering I'm in Toronto.

Did you try a different cable at least?
I have a random HTC cable that is bad (I think) says it's charging via USB when It's on AC, it even charges at USB speed. My original cable was loosing connection so I ordered a new one from Amazon for $6.99 (spend over $25 to get free ship)

In my honest opinion, rooting a phone shouldn't affect hardware like your USB port. My cable went bad from dropping my phone from my desk to my chair mat cause my chair would catch the cord and pull the phone. New cable fits nice and tight ;-)

I know for a fact its faulty hardware. It's actually a common issue with this phone http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23789
So after having the "Charging" issue when the phone wasn't plugged in anymore and sick of always having to bend the tab inside to clear the charging status, I decided to order a replacement flex cable from wholesalegadgetparts.com
I ordered this flex cable since I do in fact have a i515 CDMA.
After getting the cable and cracking open my phone, I'm surprised to see that cable does not have the same connections on it. It looks more like the i9250 cable that the site also sells. Cable1 Cable2
Does anyone else have this issue arise?
Which cable should I get now?
Thanks!
Bump for today. Really need some help with this!
I would get the one that your phone needs. The phone has been out for 6 months and Samsung has been manufacturing it for 8 probablly now. There is bound to have been some slight design changes.
I just purchased this unit. is it normal that the Stock Cable is Hard to Plug on the Charging Port of the Phone..
i need to try so many times before i can plug the charging cable to charging port of the phone before i can plug it successfully. i'm thinking of breaking the charging port if this is the case? Anyone who have the same concern? Thanks

I noticed this as well. hopefully if something gets broken its more likely to be the connector on the cable than the charging port. I have tried a few other cables as well and all are pretty difficult to insert.
Well the way I see it would you rather have it flop around and be loose, or have a night tight fit?
On a more serious note I had the same issue when I first recieved my F400S. After a week or so it got better, you can always try an older micro usb cable thats more broken in to avoid this issue.
when i first got the phone it was like what you've desribed. but after a while, it wasn't an issue anymore, i guess its a good sign that the phone is brand spanking new.
Same for me, hard To plug in ...

Hi,
I tilt the usb-connector up (just a bit) while plugging it in.
Greetz
It requires a downward angle tilting towards the device to insert.
Same for me, but once you're using qi charging and Wi-Fi file transfer, you'll hardly ever use the port.
got it! it was like virg** phone. haha..
wow same issue here.

Only way to get it in is by tilting the cable downward. Tried few cables, they are all doing the same thing. Exchange perhaps?

Tilting the cable to plug in seems to be the norm on pretty much every G3. I doubt exchanging it will help.
Once you've done it for a while, it should become pretty easy to do.
Tilting the cable and just dealing with it are fine, but what happens when you stay finding usb cables that don't want to charge your G3 properly? I have one (very nice) 10ft cable and my phone plays a game of connecting and disconnecting while trying to charge with this cord. This courts does not give me the same problems on other devices. However the G3 charges just fine on all my other cables. Not using this cable is an obvious answer but i worry that the problem could get worse and what if I start having problems with other chargers?
For now, the solution is to tilt the cord slightly downward (or upward, depending on your perspective) as the port is just sliiiiightly more flush with the opening. My advice is to get used to doing this. A broken charger port is really a PITA, so taking an extra 2 seconds to plug it in is the prudent choice. My dad gave me a lot of good advice when I was growing up, and one of the gems turns out to be "don't force things."
As mentioned, once we get some wireless charging back covers on a more accessible basis, we'll all just use wireless charging and never plug in again. Except in the car.
The cable from my old GS4 plugs in very very easily. I haven't tried charging with it tho. I use it mainly for usb mtp.

Difficult at first. It did get better for me though. I too thought i had damaged it or that it had shipped that way. And I also thought I was just breaking it more each time I charged and contemplated exchanging LOL. Make sure cord is facing the right way first (im still trying to put it in upside down sometimes), then you do have to tilt it down a bit to get in initially and then it tilts slightly up before fully inserting. It was very diificult to do the first couple days. Day 5 and its way easy. Hope this has helped and put your mind at ease This is my first Android phone and i'm luvin it!
the past new phones i had. was always hard at first to plug it in.
just gotta lube it up
Any new updates on this? I guess tilting the cable a bit is working, but will it ever get to the point it will go straight in? It really appears that this is not a defect but a LG design for the port.

still the same.. still virgin after many charging cycle
I agree with what was previously stated, after a week with phone, I've become used to putting the cable in. I'm pleased with the tight fit as I've had devices where it feels loose and unsecured.
