[Q] Desire HD Email with Exchange Security Disabled - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I have been having problems with Android AOKP Roms for Desire HD. As soon as you close the screen, the screen encryption (witch i am obligated to activate by my work email) turns on and when I unlock, it skips my lock screen shortcuts and widgets completely.
HTC found a way around that in Sense ROMS, by introducing a delay from closing the screen until the screen security turns on, and in that time you can still use the lock screen as you should without the annoying password.
Now this has been such a big issue that for my Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet an XDA user created an email app that tricks the exchange into thinking that the screen security has been activated when it has not, and so i can use my screen shortcuts and widgets and get my work email.
Is there such a hack for Desire HD Android 4.2 ROMS that do not have Sense?
Thanks,
Daniel

Try moxier mail. It not encrypt phone, just the email app. Is very good.

Hi,
I'm not going to pay that much for a thing that is already in android because the exchange only works for the trial period, and second the widget will not work unless you go into the app, put in your password and go out so... Any other ideeas?
Thanks,
Daniel

"password unlock" window after unlocking?? screenshot, plz help me remove this
Hi guys,
I have a funny problem, I've installed lockbot and some other lock-apps as test but removed all of them except lockbot
Now when I disable lockbot I have my normal lockscreen (power button + wipe down to unlock) but now I get an extra screen where I have to enter an unlock code (which seems to be my pin code) or emergency call
I can't find back in the settings how to disable this, anybody any idea?
PS I have stock ROM with launcherpro installed
Thx

Remove it and install No Lock. Or SwitchPro Widget.
well I love lockbot except that it unlocks when receiving a call so I just want to return to my default way of unlocking (power-button + slide-down) without having to enter my pin code again
this is how it looks like, I have no idea where this is coming from
anybody any ideas what this might be?
Anyone please? I would really like to get rid of this....

Are you syncing with an Exchange server?
I've had that dialogue box when I set up my Exchange mail.
Look here (translated from Swedish)
Settings -> Security -> Set screen lock
or something similar.

yep, I use Touchdown... however I used this on my HTC Magic as well and I never had the issue on that phone. I also have a seperate window for a pincode in Touchdown itself. Also when I disable the lock completely using switchpro I don't get this message anymore. If this is coming from exchange, I should probably still get the mentionned window... anyway I can try to uninstall just to test.

don't have that... I can only
- set a pattern-lock (which doesn't work, I just get the window mentionned, when I enter my code it goes straight to my homescreen)
- enable/disable PIN code (when disabled I still get the mentionned window)
- enable visible passwords
- install certificates from sd-card
just uninstalled touchdown... no change, lockscreen remains...
anyone?

The lock is requested by the security settings within Exchange. I would suggest removing you mail account from the phone to check, unless you have access to the Exchange server or a friendly Exhcange Admin.
I've uninstalled touchdown completely but lock screen remained..

Have you tried to disable the other lock options? Go through them one by one and enable and disable them. Maybe reboot first/after.

furthermore I've uninstalled all lock-screen apps and touchdown (exchange) but that cr*ppy screen remains active
coming close to giving it up though think I'll just stick to lockbot or widgetlocker and buying a decent pouch
ehm... something I just found by accident: it doesn't matter what I enter in that lock window, it always unlocks (except when leaving blanc) !!
try this
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/lockpicker-now-updated-to-v0-94/
Hi,
tried that already (forgot to mention it)
never mind guys, Widgetlocker seems to be what I'm looking in a lockscreen and it seems stable so I'll stick to that
thanks for all the tips and hints... sometimes it's just not ment to be
cheers

[Q] HTC Activsync (Exchange) in stock Android 2.2

Hi,
Had my Desire for 2 weeks now, came from Apple and loving the change.
Tried various ROMS and find I still fall back to a Sense rom for 1 reason only and that is HTC's offering in terms of Exchange, it has everything I needs and Touchdown and the other solutions don't match it.
I would prefer a stock 2.2 Rom BUT with the HTC ActiveSync mail, calendar and contacts syn built in
I know I dont need to use Sense, currently running LeeDroid 1.8 with Launcher pro so still getting ActivSync.
Anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks
+1
Exactly same here

Hi there,
I would recommend using a sense rom anyway. I would prefer the non-sense version of a rom as well but there is a problem with teh built in E-mail client of android and exchange. No matter what you select as syn schedule, the phone tries to connect to the server more than once a second. In the end the battery dies very fast! I have tested this many times with different roms! It is even worse when you are in an area with bad reception or have no connection at all.
Phone completely charged, 100 %, put it in Airplane mode, 6 hours later died cause the battery was down!
Sense roms use HTC Mail app wich works perfect!
Once this is sorted I will switch ass well.
there is even an official Google Issue for this
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9718
If you install a rom and put in in Airplane mode and leave it for a time, afterward you can check the partial wake in the battery history you will see the email app takes a very big share!
That is exactly what I want HTC mail client with the HTC ActivSync as well to do the push / fetch, same for contacts and calender.

HTC news not syncing

Hi
I just noticed that HTC news app (and widget) doesn't automatically sync at set intervals.
Also, if I go to Settings - Accounts & Sync and I want to add news account to sync, when I tap it nothing happens.
Anybody else having this problem, or some suggestions to what might be wrong?
Cheers
I did a factory reset on my phone and never had a problem since. I know its not ideal but at least it works

Yes, afraid that is the only way
Damn! 2 or 3 weeks ago I had the wireless not working after latest OTA, sorted now now but I had to start from scratch. Not again...
Isn't there some clever abd command to sort this? I can sync manually...

[Q] Widgets Not Refreshing?

Hello,
Is anyone else not seeing their widgets refresh? I'm talking specifically about my Email and Google Voice widgets. If I get a new message, it doesn't seem to appear, and old messages don't seem to clear out. I've tried opening the app but that doesn't seem to do it either.
This was an issue on my Nexus S 4G when running an ICS ROM, so I'm assuming it's just a quirk of ICS... since these are Google-made apps, I'm guessing it's the OS and not the apps themselves.
So am I the only one having this issue?
I experience this too on my email widget. It works approximately for a day, and the next morning, when emails start coming in, it doesn't refresh. I have to replace it to work again.
Yup, my email widget doesn't refresh consistently so I decided not to use it anymore. Kinda annoying.
that's odd, mine refreshes a few seconds after the initial notification. Cdma or GSM?
Also, how often is your email syncing? If you have it set to a long time its not going to tell you the second one shows up

GSM for me. My Gmail widget refreshes consistently but the Email widget does not.
CDMA for me. My Email and Gmail accounts are set for push, and Google Voice's refresh rate obviously can't be changed.

If u hav installed beautiful widgets then..
Well after lots of trial and error.. the only solution i found is..
1. uninstall beautiful widgets animation
2. clear data beautiful widgets from settings - apps - beautiful widgets
3. uninstall beautiful widgets..
Living without beautiful widgets is better than facing that refresh problem..
I will try the beautiful widgets uninstall...never would have thought that would have been it! Thanks.
I wasn't really referring to Beautiful Widgets, mostly to Gmail and Google Voice. Also, this seems to be happening to my Toshiba Thrive, indicating that it is an issue in Honeycomb as well.

HTC email on my Smartwatch 2

Hi
Got hold of this ol Sony Smartwatch 2 which I´m trying to use to get accustomed to wearables. Problem is I got an HTC One m7 as my phone and cannot find any way to get email from the phones stock email app onto the phone. Is there any solution for this?
Use notifier app like Watchit or AllNotify.
Otherwise, use another good email app like Aquamail with an SW2 compagnon app
Thanks for your reply, dersie. I'll give those apps a shot. I'm currently also testing redirecting to Gmail and using the Gmail app on the SW2 to view my exchange workmail.
