Have a boost mobile S3 great service and works fine. Used as a donor for my Note 2 (nothing like a note 2).. Flash went well, only problem is 3g barely works and no 4g even though the S3 gets it.. All updates and firmware go through. Same with PRL updates. But 3g barely works (slow to connect when I take off wif)i. Then very slow speed. Absolutely NO 4g which I was told if I had a 4g donor I would get when I changed over to the note 2. NO SUCH LUCK... Anybody?

I have had my Sprint Galaxy S3 for quite a while. This pass month I see that in my area, i'm getting switched to 4g rather than 3g. I was thinking to myself, this is great, they are rolling out the 4gLTE soon and i'll finally get the speed that i'm paying for. After a couple days, i noticed that the 4g signal was getting cut off. Cut off as in i don't get any data signal at all. I would think that if i can't get 4g signal, the phone will switch over to 3g but that's not the case. My data signal is totally gone for about 5 to 10 minutes and comes back as 4g. This was getting very fustrating as i will be browsing the internet and then suddenly not get any data and would need to wait.
So i decided to call Customer Service. What the CS told me was that the S3 is not setup for 4g WiMax but setup for 4gLTE. But I told the CS that i'm getting 4g WiMax on my phone but it gets cut off for a long period of time. CS understands that we can get the signal but the phone doesn't react good with that signal, therefore, i'm getting cut off for period of times.
So the solution that the CS gave me to get constant data signal is to change my "Preferred network mode" from LTE / CDMA to CDMA only. I was taken back about this because I feel like i'm downgrading because of Sprints issues.
My question is, anyone else having this issue and can't find how the 4gLTE icon looks like for the Spring Galaxy S3, mine only says 4g, is that the LTE signal?
The s3 only supports lte, so yes the 4g icon is lte. No the s3 can't connect to wimax it can't even see wimax as an option since it doesn't have the hardware. It would be like trying to use your bluetooth headset to connect to your wifi Internet, just isn't gonna happen no matter how many different ways you try.

Most likely they are working on the tower your connecting to. Anytime the do work upgrades your signal including data can go wacky untill the work is completed.
No Galaxy S3 on any carrier can get Wimax 4G. These phones can only get 4G LTE. And i believe T-Mobile gs3 can't get LTE not 100% sure but i believe so.
Turning your phone to CDMA only will lock your phone into 3G only.

As Evil said, when you see the 4G icon its connected to 4G LTE. Its not like the iPhone that will say 4G LTE. Im having the same issue as you are. Its great that LTE is rolling out in my area, however they are still updating towers. So I don't have great LTE speeds yet. So I've turned off LTE on my phone until there update is complete.

so im rooted, and used the AWS hack to get hspa (which i was actually showing 4g before i did this) anyway, i was in BJs today (supermarket lol) and i noticed i was on Edge, looked at my wifes s4 (tmo) and was on 4g. i went airplane mode and restarted, still on edge. out of the store went right back to 4g (and parts of the front of store) is there anything i can do you think? can i flash a tmo modem or will that mess things up since im using an att phone?
BTW im using straight talk tmobile - 4g is very fast here, one night i pulled 11mbps. but i average around 6-8mbps

I had a EVO 4G for over two years Flashed over to Boost Mobile. I never had problems with data connection as I am with Galaxy S3.
Two weeks ago I Flashed a Spring Galaxy S3 over to Boost Mobile but my data speeds have been unbearable, I always have 1x showing and its super slow eventually drops. It basically cycles between, nothing, one bar of 1g, one bar of 3g, then nothing again.
Not sure if its fair but I am starting to put he blame on the Galaxy S3 simply b/c it works fine on the EVO 4G.

Mine did the same thing. What I did i reflashed upgrade the prl and made sure network mode is on cdma not lte/cdma

I have a boost galaxy s3 and this has horrible service, upgraded from the warp and this thing is horrible with data service. The Verizon version works just fine. Did factory reset after firmware update and still have issues with the data service. Hope if we get the kit Kat update will be fixed. This phone is stock not rooted. Tried the connection fix in market that fixes 30+ times per day. Not always reliable tho. If any knows of a fix or tried something that seems to work I am a willing tester. Anything but root and custom firmware on this device. And I do not have wifi here and my connection is set to cdma only sprint connection optimizer disabled. Android 4.3.

So I bought an Att note 4 unlocked I bought it knowing I might have internet issues but it was cheap, and I'm having issues with the Internet it works fine its fast(not as fast as it should be) just very bad signal and constantly looses connection and searches for network I checked the apn it's on tmobiles network all looks fine, I'm guessing it might be the band issues but I'm using METROPCS which uses Tmobiles network I had a G3 and G2 pervious to getting the note 4 both where from tmobile and never had a single issue with those I would always get full signal never dropped a call not only that I would get download speeds and upload of over 30mbps now it's taken a dump. Any suggestions? I despise att because I use my network a lot away from home I was averaging 150gb a month on my G3 now it seems that it will be hard to do that with this phone pretty bumped use Netflix a lot watch movies online download games etc. :crying:

I have tried everything only 2 different apn servers to try
Everything works ...just slow for the most part
It's not a tower issue either...it's like that everywhere
Download should always be faster than upload

I would think you can't get too upset if you're using a phone from one carrier on another, right? I mean there ARE differences between the networks and the devices themselves...
Hey guys, I have received a Note 4 from amazon the phone works great however, my 4G LTE is very slow and i can only receive one bar in my house but when im around the town where i live it will its will works ill get 2 to 3 bars with spark then it will stop connecting and causing my apps (facebook ect) to stop working saying " unable to connect" then i would have to switch to 3G to atleast get it to reload again because it will try to get 4G LTE with one bar its killing my battery so much because it is trying to get the connection to stay then stop working i'm using my old UICC sim with my Galaxy S4 i dont know if that would make a any difference, its making so crazy with having slow 4G LTE when i had my iphone 6 and it worked fine , Every day i need to turn from 4g LTE to 3G daily to get atleast okay service. but even the 3G is slow with full bars. Any ideas guys ? I contacted Sprint, they said they reported the issue and they will work on it.
