No you don't.
Now after being so bold, what application are you trying to use?
I associate tun,ko with OpenVPN on UDP port 1194.
Are you trying to install a home baked OpenVPN(other VPN service) that locks you into a specific server as part of the app and etc???
I have OpenVPN running on my XPERIA LT26i with 6.2.B.1. 96 ROM and it's working just fine.
No tun.ko file required
Use the 'new' ICS 4.0.4 OpenVPN applications and above and you don't even need root access.

[Q] Help with OpenVPN on DHD

Hi, I use the LeedDrOiD HD rom on my DHD and the OpenVPN Application Server VMware appliance.
I get a connection with OpenVPN Installer and OpenVPN Settings from the Market but I cannot access the remote LAN.
If I use the LeeDrOiD modified stock Desire HD kernel with the OpenVPN tun.ko module and CIFS (map SMB shares) module built-in, will I still need the OpenVPN Installer and OpenVPN Settings from the Market?
Anyone got this working?
Solved.
LeeDrOiD modified stock Desire HD kernel with the OpenVPN tun.ko module and CIFS module built-in + OpenVPN Settings did the job.

Hi,There are a similar modul for Custom Rom cm11.0_golden.nova for the device Samsung Galaxy S III mini I8190 (golden)? It´s impossible to connect my bt-keyboard (periboard-805) with my smartphone. The device can pair the keyboard but then the keyboard do nothing. With the stock-rom it´s work correctly.

[Q] Signin system app for stock system

Hi everybody, I wonder if it is now possible to sign system apk for the stock firmware.
I'm currently on the 4.0.4 build 6.1.A.2.45 and try to instal the zerosms app I had on my previous x10 with Cyanogen.
I know it's a hard question/problem but I didn't fellow the xperia scene for a while and we never know^^
The fact is I'm not ready to "rape" my Xperia S like I do to my x10 XD
Anyway, have a nice day and sorry for my poor english.
Vilam
EDIT : another little question : is it possible to update manually from 6.1.A.2.45 to 6.1.A.2.55 ?
There is a way to sign apps
There is a app for linux and windows called signapk it is a java app and I suggest you Google it
Ps
And yes you can manualy upgrade
Just download a stock ftf or flashable zip of your desired version
Thanks for your answer, the problem is the app I want to sign is a system app so I guess I need the private key or something similar that is not avaible to stock firmware, or maybe I miss something big ?

Xperia Z3 Remote play is ported to rooted 4.0+ devices. can we run it ?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/4-4-4-stock-xperia-devices-ps4-remote-t2868092
as the thread above, the Xperia Z3 remote play for the PS4 has been ported to all android devices with root access.
is it possible to install it ?
i was just wondering the same thing and landed on your post.. sucks that there is no answer.
I was able to make it work by manually putting the files into the correct folders and setting the permissions to rw-r-r.
But there is no solution for pairing the DS4 yet so not so great...
