Hello,
I'm wondering, is the Nexus 7 2013 incompatiblity with Micro USB to HDMI adapters a hardware or software limitation?
Could, theoretically, a custom developed software driver, enable the use of such adapters?
Who used CleanRom 1.5 and connect to TV with MHL successfully? I afraid of this Rom which don't support MHL connection
MHL needs hardware that the N7 2013 doesn't have.
This tablet uses SlimPort. Ask on the CleanROM thread, but it probably does support SlimPort since stock does.

you mean that maybe only the stock rom support slimport, any custom else such as cleanrom,v.v... won't be supported slimport?

No I'm saying since cleanrom is based on stock, it should support slimport, but ask on that thread to be sure.
Hi dudes,
did anyone try the mhl for the 7a?
i tried with note2 mhl adaptor but doesnt work.
or will it work with a nexus5 mhl adaptor?
cheers!
appears to be NOT supported from find 7a
Does mhl only work on stock Roms?
Hi,
anyone having some experience with the TabS2 en MHL HDMI?
Thanks
No but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has?
Thanks
Yes.
bought a small cable (6€) ....
tried one time ... works fine...
take care : in my case HDMI must be powered using a usb cable.
nothing to modify in settings..
I use MHL all the time. It does not fill the screen entirely as my phone MHL image does, but maybe that's the aspect ratio of the tab. My TV allows changing of the aspect ratio to adjust fit properly. Unfortunately my 3D projector does not allow tuning from an HDMI source. I have both 2.0 and 3.0 Samsung MHL adapters and they work fine with this tab.

I'm using a Rocketfish MHL adapter with the included Samsung adapter and USB power. It's working perfectly.

No MHL with new Galaxy Tab S2?
I have just got Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" LTE T819 which is sligtly refreshed version of T815 with Android 6.
MHL does not work. There is no HTML option in the menu.
Samsung pages are inconsistent. Some claim that MHL is suporrted, some other - it is not.
Is it the question of hardware "improvement" from T815 to T819?
Or is it due to "upgrade" of Android 5 to 6?
Grzegorz
Same here.
Got the 819 model and mhl is not working. Same cable works with older Samsung tab (tab 3 8.0 inches), which should have same mhl version.
Either was removed with marshmallow update or it is removed due to hw revision.
Samsung website says it is supported, but clearly ain't true for my model.
I've got official Tab S2 dock and the original Samsung MHL 3.0 dongle - all work through HDMI (on the original 2015 version). However, you have to put up with the 4:3 screen ratios even on the 16:9 monitors..
Exactly how?

I have all of this and have been trying since I got my tablet, nothing shows up on the screen. Do you have to do something to the tablet or something to make it show up?

Sorry for not answering you (I only rarely visit XDA) - I havent added any apps to make it work. Its very much plug and play. Which version do you have? The 2015 Exynos or the 2016 Snapdragon? I've got the 2015 version.
I have also found it particular with certain screens and monitors too. Some do not report back to the device properly for resolution choice, whilst others will bawk at the tablet being on a non-standard 16:9 resolution. But it does work with my TV at home and my 4K monitor at work. I'd suggest you also try it with other monitors and TV's directly via HDMI.
There's a root app called SecondScreen which works well for aspect issues.
i have 2015 samsung galaxy tab s2 9.7 inch and mhl cable, micro, charger, hdmi output to hdtv, but i get a no signal on my hd tv, any clues as to why i thismodel compatible yes or not. if yes can you tell me the adapter to use. I use a mhl 5 pin adapter i picked up for $8 on ebay., but i dont know if that is the correct mhl adapter.

you need samsung adapter if you use generic mhl.
samsung pin is different than generic mhl.

My Question:
“Does the Samsung Multimedia Dock for Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0/9.7 support HDMI screen mirroring using the tablet 819 model ? Some members of the XDAdevelopers forum cast doubt on whether it works.”
Your Samsung Multimedia Dock webpage say’s it supports Galaxy Tab S2's but does not explicitly confirm model variations, and it also say's "4K resolution is only supported by MHL 3.0 support devices (MHL 2.0 or 1.0 devices support FHD)"
Sumsung Support Answer:
“Upon checking on the technical specification of the device, MHL is not supported by your T819 tablet.”
and
“You can only use screen mirroring using Wi-Fi. I apologize but it will not work. Both devices needs to have MHL capability, however, your Tab S2 T819 doesn't have this feature.”

Sumsung Support Answer:
"Upon checking on the technical specification of the device, MHL is not supported by your T819 tablet."
Surely this would only require a simple software update to re-enable MHL on the latest version S2 tabs ?

Contact Samsung Support and try to extract more detail from them. Ask them what is the root cause, and is there any possibility of a future fix or work-around.
I didn't say this in my above post, however I was on Samsung Chat Support for about half an hour just flushing out the above couple of lines I posted.
1st level support are junior staff, and their job is to shield senior staff from the customer.
I was initially given superficial answers and had to keep probing with cross-checking questions, challenging their logic, and requesting they escalate to senior technicians to finally flush out the above answer in my post.
I also requested that they document this technical information in their manual and on their website, but I am not holding my breath.

Does anyone know of the otterbox defender case or any case will fit the mhl adapter with the case on..?
