Dev donation.. Need phone for more development

Recently, one of the members if team rejectz has had a minor accident with his E4GT. My team mate, friend, and mentor had his phone ran over while keeping a child safe from on coming traffic. As we all know, this phone is very sleek and can easily slip from your hands or pocket. In this case the phone slipped from his pocket while.scurrying the young child out of harms way. He very well may have saved the child's life. But by the time he turned around his phone had been ran over and crushed by on coming traffic. This could happen to any of us. Sprint has claimed it was user negligence and is charging Lorjay $100.00 for a deductible to obtain a replacement. We are all struggling in this economy and none of us have an extra hundred bucks. Lorjay589 has been an invaluable help to this forum and community. He started team rejectz as well as taught and mentored me and others of our team so we could help make these devices better. In doing so our team has collectively brought 5 of the newest roms, many new png images, mods, lockscreens etc. Currently we have raised approximately 42.00. We are just about half way there. I also apologize for my misbehaving. Yes i said misbehaving because i didn't follow a key rule in which could have gotten me in big trouble. But thanks to Jayharper08 the mod for this thread. I know now what not to do and whats appropriate i also encourage anyone else to follow the rules Of XDA and the rules of our moderators. Also thanks to everyone who helped on my thread. It was closed and i believe that its the rightful thing to do.

Thats good at least. Insurance is your best friend. I had a blackberry storm 2 back in the day and on day 2 It dropped into the bathtube I was pissed cause I didnt add insurance at the time of purchase. That phone retailed back in the day for 579.99 and I found another on ebay for 450 bucks. Horrible.

Yep, been there too, sadly with a blackberry as well. LOL. No insurance. Luckily they had a refurb they sold me for around 300 i believe.

Yeah it was the curve 8530 I believe. I was on us cellular at the time. Right before they launched the mesmerize. And you know any phone on us cell has been out for a while lol

One last post about the blackberry. Absolutely with ya jay. I do not miss mine either. Funny thing. I was going through my tech pile o crap I keep and four d my BB curve. This was a few weeks ago but I held it in my hand and it felt so cheap and small compared to this phone. I remember when I first got it though. I was so excited and happy. Now it just didn't impress me. Man how technology has changed.

Upgrade/Moral Dilemma

I got the unlimited family plan last June and got the Epic for my wife and I. This family plan is now turning into a business plan as I'm getting phones for my guys too.
My issue is that I am a tech junkie and I am starting to feel phone envy with all these guys getting the note 2. I have another person to get a phone for and I'm realizing that instead of waiting another year and six months to upgrade I can do it now and pass on this epic.
The problem is that I love this community, and would like to start putting out some roms for a group that I think is going to be hurting for devs shortly. While I'm pretty sure the note 2 is not lacking in this area.
Am I worrying about nothing? Is everyone leaving this phone soon anyway? If I don't use this opportunity am I going to be the only one here in a year? :sigh:
I just feel like it's too early to leave now, but will be too late later on.

Reasonable to believe when S4 is released and if the specs live up to its hype, majority of users will consider the move. I am considering and upgrade and may not be on this phone at the end of the year. Only because it will be 2 years and trying to get the family on 1 cycle is the plan. Its an opportunity you should highly consider

That was the original plan, just wait it out, and get the latest and greatest, but my guy needs a phone now, so it's upgrade now or in a year and half. Other option is to use my best buy buy back to help with the cost of an out of contract phone when the s4 comes out.

I think a lot of its are in it till the s4. This is a great community though and I feel your pain. The note has a lot going for it but I have a feeling the s4 is going to knock it out of the park. We always need good devs and would hate to see you go. But do what you have to. I'm sure you'll be happy either way. Although with all these 4.2 rooms coming out and jb ota around the corner at some point soon this phone will be hanging around for quite a while. Good luck with your decision.

I love this phone but if I had LTE I would upgrade now. I also think S4 will be my next phone since it should drop around the time the Network Vision upgrades start here. Bottom line do whatever makes you happy. The community will carry on and more devs will jump onboard since our phone is cheap now.

I have a note 2 and I love it I came from the e4gt and had used my upgrade to get the note now if the S4 really calls out my attention which I'm sure it will I will sell the note and put in the differences and pay full price now if you think you can do that do it If you're a tech junkie a don't see the problem of hesitating on doing something wrong for yourself just do what you want bro.

Note 2 is down to $169 on Amazon Wireless right now! I can upgrade now but I got this device as a replacement for my 3vo and haven't had it that long. I really want to see what it's going to be like after the jb update. If for some reason we end up not getting it then I'll upgrade but really don't see the need to just yet.

The main reason I'm going to stick with this phone is because wimax. Sprint doesn't yet have lte in my area and if I upgrade I will be stuck with slow ass 3g. So unless lte gets up and running soon I'm just going to stick with the Epic 4G Touch and with this site it keeps me from getting bored

Get a Note II, join devs like myself as we can sure deliver excellent works to the users

Print that, take it to BB for price match - even though you're an upgrade.
If you're lucky you'll get a steal on this phone! (One other person said he got on GN2 threads)

Geez Garwynn wish I thought of that lol! Not sure if it would've worked though. I'm still happy with my Note for $199. Wasn't sure if I should do it or not before but this thing is absolutely amazing! I thought the e4gt was a beast but my God lol! What a difference. You guys that are thinking about it just do it. You won't regret it. And if you're thinking you might want to wait for the gs4 I was right there with you but in all honesty I don't see how they will compare. This has tablet like features that the gs4 might not have. Of course we really won't know until the final spec sheet is released but either way it won't be this size. And it is beautiful guys!

I'm an indirect dealer for Sprint, ATT and Verizon; I get to play with a lot of phones. You could not be more accurate. Not only is the Note 2 in a class if its own. It really is a "phablet". It doesnt need to be held close to the face, yet can fit in a pocket.
More importantly, the execution of Touchwiz is remarkable- its usefulness is beyond comparison, justifying every pixel of the huge display and proving it is not a gimmick.
As far as the E4GT goes, its second-life as a premium Virgin/Boost handset should prevent development from drying up.

Ok im really sorry but I dont ****ing get this there are 100 threads about if we are going to switch to gs4 or all that crap this phone has nothing to with galaxy line not even close I dont know why people asking all this question and what makes you ****ing think that with gs4 coming out they are going to drop the price, I hope they wont drop the price and actually raise it because I hate seeing cheap people on this section.

On the box it's called the galaxy note 2 so it has something to do with the galaxy line. OP, Sprint won't drop the price for awhile. Maybe never. If you want it asap then look to other dealers or buying it used.

I doubt there's going to be a price drop on the Note 2. Not till the Note 3 anyways.. You guys are comparing a phablet to a phone. Price drop for the GS3? Sure, you can already get one practically free..

I bought my phone off the contract cause I wanted to keep my upgrade, I just hate it when people try to buy stuff they cant afford and ask stupid questions since note II is a phablet and not a phone.

It's true. If you can't afford it at a certain price then don't buy it. But that's probably why they want to see it go down in price, because they can't afford higher price. Nothing wrong with that. Plus I saw an article that said s3 and note 2 aren't far off in costs to make. In the end the reason for price difference is the cell company trying to make more money cause phone is bigger. I guess it could cost them more but either way just look at the prices for the note 2, started at $299 for new customers, about 3 months and new customers were able to get it for $99 from Amazon.

He's not making up anything man. It IS called a phablet. Yes it's a phone too but it was designed as a tablet. I know the word phablet sounds really stupid but that's the chosen word I guess. How many phones out there have an SPen or have the features ours has? Think about it. Our device already does more than the gs4 ever will and once we get all the new software it will be even better.
Btw op watch the prices on Amazon.com. I got mine for $199 and I've seen it go as low as $169. It's different almost every day.

I've seen this situation occur on every Galaxy device I've ever owned. Vibrant, S2, different carriers, now ths Note.
I recommend when you want to donate money to a developer, ask them directly for their donation preference. Or you'll end up in a thread like this where the guy who was supposed to be in charge doesnt even know where people's money magically went.
Not accusing anyone, just stating the facts.
I remember this 12 year old kid hustling thousands out of people when the S2 came out, he used multiple accounts to "talk up" other accounts that were wannabe developers for false hope donations.
Kinda just comical at this point.

Seeing how the other Developer in these forums received his Donated Note 8.0 with no problem I highly doubt there will be an issue here.
That said, I would think it would be better to just donate to the Dev himself and let him order it. E-Bay ships all over.

Want baked? I'm considering one of these or the Sony Tablet Z, a donation could go along way towards my decision!

Not yet, last I asked the people at the post office here on Saturday, they said that it would take 15-20days, despite the priority shipping. Anyways its been around 11 days, so shouldn't be too far now.

Definitely will be looking in to it,...but have to wonder, how much of a PITA will it be to get a replacement for warranty purposes.

For $300 bucks, I will get one to compliment my note 3. Hope to get invite and work on ATT LTE network.

These phone seems to be incredible for specs and price.The only thing is the big size but maybe you'll get used to.

I.........know!My thought remain the same,was discussion on OPO,i think it will be an opponent of next google device instead of Note 3

Specs aside, you have me on the fact this is made to flash custom ROMs without the manufacturer or carrier bloat.
It's about time a company says, "here is a high end device. We are going to give you some awesome features, but if you want, do with as you will... And BTW, here is how you do it."
If the phone had the same specs as the gs4 and had this idea I would buy it. Just the idea behind it is what sold it for me. I will be getting one whether or not I get it for a $1

Non replaceable battery killed it for me.

I'd prefer a SD card slot, as I carry a lot of music, and don't like cloud.
Id buy one, just to try something new, not so sure about this invite option. I'd figure any company would want to have full availability as soon as possible.

I did enter the Smash your phone and win one for $1.00 thing but I did that with an old S3 (I'm not smashing a $700.00 Note III for a $300.00 phone)
