Hello everyone,
A quick question I'd like to pose to everyone about Android 4.2.2 Roms out there. Is anyone else having this issue, does anyone know what may be causing this issue?
I have flashed a couple 4.2.2 roms (jellybam and liquid smooth) and I have tried two visual voicemail programs. An apk of the normal sprint visual voicemail (worked with liquid smooth 4.2.1). And Google voice. Each for whatever reason will only use speakerphone for output. Both programs I have went into the settings to make triple sure that the normal ear speaker is selected as default. And even when toggling while playing a voicemail, the output doesn't change. I don't see anything in the phone settings relating to this issue.
Any ideas comments or questions for me?
Thank you!

can you post where you got the sprint voicmail apk. I'm running LS 4.2.2 stable and would like to install it to test it on my phonel
Look up sprint VVM for cm10 and you'll find it

Happened to have one on drop box. Working fine for me.
Not all ROMs have this issue, but yes, on Google Voice, some ROMs play out through the loudspeaker.
This occurs, for sure, on both $MyName's AOKP and task650's AOKP, as well as a handful of other ones that I've tried. PACMAN does not have the issue, nor does ParanoidAndroid, last I checked.
I've accepted the issue and stuck with AOKP myself.

Nearly everyone gets that. I can't get rid of it for the life of me and I've tried every method out there. If you do some research you'll find a bunch of methods and hopefully one will work for you

yeah I've done that I've also done that method where you send a voicemail message to [email protected] and apparently that gets rid of it for some people but nothing worked for me sadly. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I just learned to deal with it honestly it's not the worst thing in the world

Did you check your APN settings?
I had a similar problem on Synergy, but it happened over time. Activating screen popping up after a reboot. And all my service's worked just fine. I just hit the home button to return to my launcher.

This is an issue with HyperDrive no one seems to want to to talk about. If you read through tge HyperDrive forum there is very little mention of this issue aside from a post about it here and there.
Obviously this is a major issue but again if you read the HyperDrive forum everyone claims its very stable and they have no issus.
If ask for a fix in the forum you get "Search Is Your Friend" or told to flash the ATT LTE fix (Which did not work for me after a few hours on rls13 or 14)
When I mentioned that the core functions of the phone (calling, txting and mms) should be working before a ROM should be labeled as a release and not beta, nightly or rc and the developer should fix it I was greated with "how dare you demand a developer to fix anything".
I agree its a great looking rom, but its fundamentally broken. Sms works until you have rebooted a few times then you get the dreaded activation fail and no sms(I have found that if you turn airplane mode on and off sms works again till reboot). Why is this issue not being talked about in the HyperDrive forum. How come this issues wad not fixed before rls14 since it was there in rls13?
Why the conspiracy in the HyperDrive forum that everyone claims this rom is not broke an working fine. But yet we are all posting here because we have the same issues, and we are being ignored.

It's a multicarrier rom and also Verizon based therefore issues will arise because of it imcompatbilities. It's not some secret conspiracy drummed up by the NSA or whatever. When I ported a Verizon ROM I deleted the activation app and the setup app and never had it pop up. It's annoying yes but nothing beyond that,
These aren't products sold to consumers (Every rom here is a beta no matter how stable it may seem, as is mine). They will try to fix things but sometimes they fall through the cracks. Most people who say it works fine know what tricks worked in the past to get it working correct. (these are the same for most verizon ports)
- for sms not working, push a mms to system from say a i747 rom or use the aosp mms mod
- for phone not working, push a SecPhone.apk and SecContacts.apk to the /system as well or just like the above you can open the rom with 7zip and drag and drop those in before you flash
- voicemail, change the # to you phone # like it is on at&t roms
search for the ATTLTE zip posted in the development that helped some people in the past.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2218594
-If all else fails sometimes a complete wipe, everything and all and flash. All rom's are YMMV.

I tried the Hyperdrive rom as well (rogers sgh-i747m) and was stuck on the activation screen and the "No connection" screen on the google play store.. I researched everywhere for this resolution but with no result.
SOLUTION: Skip this rom and try another one. Currently running liquidsmooth and lovin it!
Cheers
this might solve it
I had the same problem but it just started working after I updated Samsung apps. I don't know if it'll work for you, but it did for me (its worth a shot). I still get the activating screen but everything works my txt and calling works fine its my 2nd day testing. Let me know if it work for you because that would that would be the solution to this annoying problem.
Has any one found out how to get the activating screen working or make it go away?

I just flashed this ROM last night, and I love how it looks, but I am having the same "Activating" issue. I have all data connections, and I can get out of it by pressing the Home button, so it seems to be just an odd Verizon hold over. I dont have the Activation spp to erase in the system/apps folder to get rid of it. Any suggestions?
Hi all,
I have been hunting around for the last three days and cannot find a unified answer as to why MMS does not work on my i747. No MMS function is kind of a deal breaker. I have changed APN settings a number of times to no avail. Switched from PA to CM and back no wipe and full wipe etc and still no dice. Does anyone have any solutions that are repeatable? If so I would love to make it known.

Does everything else work? Like phone calls, texting, and cellular data? If so, more than likely APN related. Who is your service provider?
Yeah. Everything else is fine. Sms is good and quick. Data speeds are tip top. Mms messages just stall out at "sending" I use ATT in Colorado.

Well if everything else is working properly, then I'd almost bet it's APN related. Double check, and make sure everything is entered properly, periods, spaces, capitalization. If so, and it still doesn't work, did u make a backup of stock before u ever flashed a custom ROM? If so, restore it and see if they work. Also, have u updated your modem?

Can you receive mms messages? Because I recently couldn't send picture messages, but could receive them. Turns out picasa uploader had some corrupt data. I would make sure that app isnt frozen or accidently uninstalled
Some of the newer ROMs have issues with resizing the image being sent - it is larger that AT&T will allow. I don't remember what thread it was in but someone mentioned that there was a change made to the mms.apk that caused the issue. They posted an APK that they pulled from a ROM from June (I think it may have been a CyanogenMod nightly).
--edit--
I think it was polobunny that posted it. I'm too tired to look for it but his post in reply to fastest963's post on a possible CyanogenMod resolution to the issue in the thread listed below.

I had that same problem with Slimbean. I sent them a logcat and the fix had something to do with "the lack of hugemem for kernel".
Not sure if this is applicable, but this guy posted a fix on a thread for MMS issues on a 4.3 ROM. Perhaps worth investigating?

So it looks like I was suffering from the ATT/cm photo resizing issue that was referenced a few replies back. The most recent nightly addressed it and it seems to work well now. Going to try to send a bunch of pictures of various sizes to verify its functionality but it looks like people with ATT and i747s should be on an even playing field on CM. I wonder how soon paranoidandroid will have this update.

I have had this issue on almost all ports and CM roms. Compounded by living in a poor service area. The only consistent fix for me is what Bruce Lee suggested and use a 3rd party sms, I like GOsms personally. Actually I like stock better so I turn off notifications in Go and greenify it until I need to send a pic.

I dont think I've tried again after fixing permissions so ill try that. Thanks. If its that easy, I'll be both happy and pissed that I didn't try that. I noticed earlier in this thread someone said something about the picassa uploader. I usually freeze that app, and was just searching for what it does. If you don't mind me asking, are you aware of any issues that may cause in sending MMS? Seems to only be involved with uploading to an account, which I dont have.

Only problems I've had with MMS are as follows:
"Sending" bug - either fix with "Fix permissions" in recovery, or just using a different mms.apk from a ROM it did work on (4.3)
APN settings - only happened once on a 4.2.2 ROM, don't remember which
Never used picassa uploader, or froze it (I don't use TiBu). But recently with the 4.3 ROM's I've tried fixing permissions is all it's taken for me. Just to be safe I've made it a practice to Fix Permissions 3 times before rebooting, also clearing cache/dalvik

Ok. Thanks. I just noticed newest CWM doesnt have fix permission so i did it through scripter. Only tied once though. It didn't work with that one try. I have also tried pushing new mms.apk but no luck. Ill try a couple more fix permissions and try again. Always nice to have new oprions for this fix so thank you again for the response.

I'm currently using novaGen ROM cm10. I tried different MMS.apk from his mrom and also a couple themed aosp apk's I grabbed from somewhere. The weird thing is, I use cool tool to monitor data sent and speed, and I can see data slowly going out but they never complete. However gosms worked on the first try. I used TW ROMs like Goodness for a long time with the same results. I also just got a new s3 cause my IMEI and or my hardware got borked and I lost my backup, so ive eliminated the phone as the issue. I do live in a tough service area but still after 45 min it fails. I get around 25% signal strength. I have tried in a better area in the past but not too recently. Same results.
Hello guys,
Alright I am having an issue with my SMS. I currently have a Note 4 on Sprint. I can receive SMS messages, but cannot send them. I can send and receive MMS, and have no issues placing phone calls or using data. The only issue that I am running into is responding to SMS messages. I am currently running the most recent CM 12 nightly, but have tried reverting to older nightlies to see if the issue still persists. It does. Things that I have tried:
- Rebooting phone
- Reflashing nightly
- Data wipes
- Updating the ISMS
I've spent the last few hours looking at similar problems and the way that they have resolved them is by disabling Google Voice. Well, I don't have Google Voice on my phone and have no way of disabling this.
The kicker to all of this is when I wipe and reinstall my nightly, everything will work (send and receive SMS) until I shut off my phone or flash a new nightly (or until my phone dies). So I'm trying to figure out what is going on. If you have any ideas or have come across a reliable and recent solution let me know.
Thanks!
It's listed on the forum page for CM12 that they're having issues with the texting. The developers are trying their best to get it working but they aren't sure what's causing the problem.

Have the same problems I think. Updated to latest CM 12.1 nightly and cannot send text message to people in my contact list. It says "message sent to invalid destination check the number and try again. Error 2127. I have tried reinstalling google and syncing all contacts back in but that does not work. Tried deleting contact in phone and google then adding them again and taht does not work. I am at a loss and texting is pretty important. I am done with CM 12 if this does not get fixed. I am ready to donate but not like this..

it boggles my mind why people recommend CM. I've yet to see a stable "current" build of CM for any of my phones. I had a Sprint SGS4, and there never was a stable CM11 build.

Hear that. I gave up on CM at CM7 about 4 years ago. Never heard of a build that worked. Yet some swear by it... Go figure. :what:
As we don't have an official thread dedicated to cm 12.1 for T-mobile s4, I create this so that T-mobile users can discuss everything about Official cm12.1 for jfltetmo in just one place. This way, we will be able to help one another better.

NB. I am not the maintainer for this device.

I don't use bluetooth, but I see comments in jfltexx thread that say it is fixed in the latest version which is today's version.

That is good to hear. Maybe I will give it a try.

Try and report back!
i just installed it along with the official gapps from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
wipe dalvik/cache and now having random gapps crashes... gonna play with it a bit more, not sure what my plan is.. i'll probably do a hard flash instead of soft one if it doesn't want to work

No crash at all on my side with pa stock 5.1 gapps
i feel like it should work with the official cm package, no?
it looks like the issue might have something to do with multiple user accounts.. i only have one account. i wonder if there's a way around this. i've been reading some other people's reports about these crashes and many are saying that it doesn't matter which gapps package is used. i guess i'll try pa gapps if i don't have any success
edit: i decided to just try a factory reset instead.. i'll update on my progress
edit: factory reset worked fine.. now i just have to put all my settings back the way i like them

Just wanted to post a quick update. I haven't seen a Bluetooth crash yet. I had a bit of trouble pairing my headset though. Took a few tries and shutting BT off and back on but it did pair. My watch has also been consistently syncing. I have yet to stream music through BT, but assuming all the crashing is gone so far, it may be safe to assume that it will work fine.

Thanks for your feedback my friend!
No problems here at all. Used heavily since the OTA with the 1+one theme. Loving CM12.1
anyone else having problems with the stock email app and exchange email addresses? I added a hotmail email and i get constant "exchange has sopped working"
I am on 4/29 nightly, Have not seen any issues so far. I will post if I see anything. This phone works flawlessly with cm12.1, I don't even see the purpose
of upgrading to a new device now. lol at chumps that buy a new phone every year.

No, I am on cm-12.1-20150430-NIGHTLY-jfltetmo.zip atm and the error has been happening since the first release.
Curious if anyone else has a problem with an exchange mail or is it just me...

I'd like to save you guys a lot of heartache - Bluetooth is definitely an issue depending on how and where you use it. I've found that if you're pairing with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices or car head units, Bluetooth will crash consistently. I actually posted my attempts to troubleshoot it in a thread here: forum(dot)cyanogenmod(dot)org(slash)topic(slash)108738-bugs-with-121-on-i9505 (same username, my account here is too new to post links) and you'll see that my last post (as of this writing) is that I'm reverting to stock.
As I type this I'm anxiously waiting for all of the stock updates to finish so I can do some testing with my BT LE HRM and see if Bluetooth is stable again.

It seems like a pretty big issue. Not sure why it isn't working correctly since it is a much older model. It is definitely annoying to deal with.

Definitely an annoyance. I posted in the other thread and should probably put my update here as well - I flashed back to stock (4.4.4) and have gone a full day without any Bluetooth crashes. I have a Nexus 7 that I've also flashed to CM 12.1 and would like to experiment to see if I have the same BLE problems there, but unfortunately just don't have time since I'm heading out of the country in a few days. Seeing as how I'll be without a high speed connection (no ability to research or download updates) it's more important that I get back to a stable stock while I'm travelling. When I return I may find some time to experiment further and see if it's even possible to extract the Bluetooth packages from my stable 4.4.4 system and somehow use them on the CM 12.1 installation. I'm a newb at this but I'm hoping that there's some level of cross-system compatibility, kind of like how drivers for Windows 7 usually will work on Windows 8.
May I ask what kernel you guys are using?
