Are there any good ones out?
My biggest issue is that I don't use a lock screen, so to change a track I have to be able to pull down notifications and use those controls.
Did you come up with a solution?

I did not, have only been running on treadmills due to this problem.
Also makes lifting weights a pain.

Are you asking about music? Or about devices like JawBoneUP/Nike FuelBand?
I'm asking about arm bands to keep your phone attached to your person and not too far away so that headphones get ripped out.
Ah ok...
I bought a holster/case combo from Verizon that I use daily for exercise. I tried an armband, but this Maxx is huge, so I opted for the holster.
I use this armband which I had for a previous phone and it works well. It is called "Verizon Motorola Droid X MB810 New Sports Armband Pouch" and pretty cheap on eBay.
Pictures of my Droid Maxx in the armband
EDIT.... I don't have enough posts to post pics I guess. Here's an album link.... imgur (DOT) com/a/VeCdz
I carry my phone in my pocket rather than on my arm (and just run the headphone cord inside my shirt to prevent it from being snagged), but I did see this case on androidcentral.com: http://www.shopandroid.com/armpocket-xtreme-i-30/4AA10642.htm
running Exercise arm band
Hi well guys I also found these arm bands...may be you will find one of them good one for you....both are not much expensive and even available for free shipping too...so you can just check out them
1. Body Glove Armband - Black
2. Belkin EaseFit Plus Armband - Lime
I ordered one of these for $4 shipped!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300939070640&ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
It's says it's for the Galaxy S3, which is within a couple millimeters of this phone in all dimensions.
As someone who doesn't exercise much outside, what is the purpose of an armband? When you're running you can't really use the phones display. You could use long press actions on volume keys I suppose. Why wouldn't you want to just clip it in a Otterbox defender holster on your waist?
Does it bounce around too much?
Does an armband displace weight of the phone better?

Well, here is my opinion...
For one thing, if you have a short headphone cord, having the device as close to your head as possible is useful. Anything that weighs as much as the Maxx will bounce uncomfortable if it's in a clip on your waistband. I generally wear soccer shorts when I run, with the phone in my pocket. The Maxx without a case is just light enough that it will not bounce around. When you put an Otterbox Commuter on it bounces around in the pocket like crazy. I'd imagine that the Defender would be much worse. And running with something on your waist makes it more likely that you'll catch the earphones with your hand/arm while you are running, which can be very bad for the headphones, the jack, or the phone (though you can fix this by running the cord inside your shirt. If you run shirtless, not so much.)
Strapped to your arm? Much more comfortable, plus it's easy to do things like hit the volume buttons with your other hand while you run. And you can let the headphone cord sit behind your back rather than on your side, making it less likely that you'll catch it with your arm.
Here is the armband I bought for my Maxx from Amazon; fits perfectly with my TPU case on it! I run outside with it all the time.
I use the flip belt and have enjoyed it for running and lifting. I got mine almost a year ago now and think it cost around 30$. It holds not only phones/mp3 bit ID cards and keys. Yes if you put too much in then you might get some bounce while running, but this has been the best option I've found for running.

I just purchased an Otterbox Defender for $31.95 on eBay (an excellent deal! ). I just wanted to see if the case makes the phone more difficult to use and if there are any problems that have arisen to anyone as a result of it.
I used the defender for a day and returned it. For one, i forgot how much of a non-fan i am of soft shells/cases.... since they seem to attract dust from other dimensions sometimes. The holster is nice... but in order to clip it in or take it out, it usually seemed to be a two-hand job, so that kinda defeated the purpose to me. It also seemed to make it slightly more difficult to actually get an accurate read with the fingerprint sensor.... i believe mostly due to the silicon outer shell, which as you swipe your finger, would peel back somewhat and make it hard to actually get a complete scan without stopping short or something like that.

I've used Defenders before with my Nexus One & HTC HD2, and loved them though they were very bulky, but I thought the extra protection was worth it (just in case). I Ask because the my Defender for my N1 had problems with the buttons and they weren't really responsive and dust always got in the screen from the hole for the trackball. Thanks for your feedback! I'm planning on painting the plastic shell either red or white since I've always envied the iPhones multitude of colors
I have had mine in a defender since day one. I used it without for about 1/2 a day then loaded it in. I own a construction company so i am out in the dirt and weather constantly so the otter box is almost a must. I haven't noticed any loss of functionality. It takes a few times to learn how to unsnap the latch with the knuckle of your index finger as you remove the phone with one hand but it works once you learn the motion. No problems whatsoever using the fingerprint unlock, it is a pretty cool feature. I did notice the screen was not as sensitive for about 5 minutes until the plastic cover built in the case settled down to it.
Jack
I have the defender on mine..no problems so far..yes it makes the phone a little bigger. Its the first time that I am using such a case.
I quickly figured out how to snap it in and out of the belt clip with one hand.
I also have mine in a Defender case - However i ripped out the built in screen protector in the Defender case - those things are lame... I have a screen protector i put on within 10 seconds of opening the box for the phone - my screen has never been touched since taken out of the box...
I have no issues with the Otterbox Defender Case or Holster whatsoever...
Not to hijack the thread but the Otterbox Commuter is an extremely solid case that gives excellent protection without the bulk or the soft exterior of the Defender. I used one on my iPhone 4 for the past 6 months and loved it. Waiting on that model to show up for the Atrix now.

This. I bought my Atrix along with some anti-glares and an Otterbox Defender. I quickly realized how worthless the Otterbox's built-in screen protector is (and how muddy it makes the screen look), and promptly ripped it out. I got used to carrying my Captivate in a Defender, so I was already used to the holstering/unholstering procedure. You do have to make sure not to rub your finger against the shell when using the fingerprint scanner, but it's a pretty easy technique to learn.
ive had quite a few of them there great for protection but forget using it with a dock

The only dock I am interested in is the car dock. Will either of the Otterbox cases (defender or commuter) work with the car dock?

Can anyone tell me if the Atrix overheats in an otterbox?

It shouldn't. Personally, I think the Atrix runs a little cooler than the iPhones and both my parents have the defenders for their iPhones and neither of them have had any issues.

My GN arrives tomorrow and of course I'm very excited!
Does anyone wear their GN in a case with a belt clip? I've seen one on a website but the only review said the interior was rough.....can't have that.
If I have to start carrying my phone in a different manner due to the phone's size, so be it - but I'd prefer to have it on my belt.
Thanks for any feedback!

Just got the Note Saturday and looking for the same. Not a lot to choose from what I have seen. I saw this on Amazon and for less on ebay. Have not ordered yet. I did order a TPU case and screen protector from Amazon but not sure yet about how to use as a phone, whether in the pocket or on belt...

Got this for the streak last year

I too prefer carrying my case on my belt. Would prefer a horizontal case, but got this one last February. Belt loop through the belt, soft pouch.
Perfect size for the streak.
If/when a horizontal case comes up with a spring belt clip that isn't EXPENSIVE, I'll get one of those, but for now this one serves the purpose.

Yep fits it without stretching the pouch. Easy to get it in/out of the pouch.
The only "issue" is sort of a shoot yourself in the foot with a gun issue...
Sometimes when I get home, if I'm on the phone when I pull out the belt, I forget the phone is still on there until I hear it thump against the carpet LOL...never had an issue with it being in the pouch hitting the floor.

I might consider it ON a case, but I wouldn't want to stick anything on the phone itself. For one thing, it wouldn't fit in my car or desk dock.
Does it come with extra adhesive pads? If not, then what do you do if/when you get a new phone?
Attached this to the outside of a case, and it is GREAT.
I am a cyclist, and I have ruined phones by dropping them off the bike. I can now ride and use a phone if needed. (Yeah they say texting and driving is bad xD)

I'm considering getting this but all of my phones have extended batteries with the extended back piece :/. I'll just get one for my brothers iPhone I guess lol.
Wow that really does look pretty handy. I am wondering if I cam modify my rugged case to fit this without adding any thickness. it just might be thick enough (My case) I would have to cut out the cases kickstand but this acts as a kickstand so I lose nothing.
but man $30 is steep for that.
It comes with one extra sticky pad. Flygrip. The one handed solution. This sounds like a smartphone pr0n fapping device. One hand to hold the phone, the other to grip your fly.

I was thinking the same for such a simple device, but it looks well made. I'm betting it could be redesigned to be even thinner than 1/4" thickness which isn't all that thin.
Agreed 1/4" is almost as thick as the phone itself.
Machine this bad boy out of aluminum or even Titanium and make it 2-3mm thick at most and I would eve pay $40 for that one.
Problem is if that outer piece gets too thin it could bend/sheer/snap. It looks like it has a thick glossy paint coating to top it off which looks nice and may add to the durability. Using those metals may even add to the price and you'd be paying $40 or more.
I'm finding more and more often with the epic 4g touch less and less hands on experience when it comes to accessories. Best Buy has only one case I'd even consider buying (platinum series case) and Radio Shack only has full enclosure cases that go on your belt. Not really digging that solution. I may just invest in a Flygrip, how long is the free shipping good for?
I know and $40 to $45 would be fine if it was say titanium (it would be strong enough that thin) and at minimum half its current thickness. ie around 2mm would be nice. maybe 3mm.
as it stands its a lot of money for an awful thick piece of plastic. (relative to the size of the phone)
Good idea, too big for me though.
Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G Touch.
Thanks for the review. Looks awesome, but wouldn't be able to put the phone on a car dock or desktop dock after you put the Fly grip on I'm assuming...
Just purchased on of these. Cant wait to get it.
I am kinda worried about the car dock thing though since I've been seriously considering getting one. I thought that magnetic dock in the other thread was pretty cool, but after having this IDK if it would work.
it would not be all that hard to modify the car dock to work with the Fly Grip if you positioned it properly.
If you do the tilt insert method ie you don't slide the jack slider up and down this might work.
get another dock of any kind (one of the cheap ones on ebay for $6) just so long as it has the depressed section with the 4 holes for the universal quad mount.
you glue it onto the back of the vehicle dock. making it THICKER.
now you have enough depth to "cut" a hole into the vehicle dock large enough to encompass the flygrip.
and there you go. vehicle dock and flygrip. it is 1 2 3 ? no but its doable.
BTW discovered the kickstand built into my case works almost exactly and just as effectively a flygrip.
I was contemplating how to cut a hole in my case to accommodate a flygrip adn it hit me ahh just use the kickstand already on it -)
I will make a video tommorrow.
30 dollars is WAY too much for this thing...10-15 dollars at the most, but no way for 30 dollars..
I got one on the way thanks for the heads up qbking77! I think this is perfect for people with 4 inch+ phones.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
I posted the link to the grey / blue Belkin one towards the end of this thread, and really like it!

If your at the gym just get the Samsung HS3000, bluetooth stereo adapter..works really well sound quality is good too! Just leave your phone in a gym bag so you don't have to worry about your phone falling or getting crushed..
I used this for my Galaxy S1:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...=1343186933&sr=8-5&keywords=Galaxy+S3+armband
I hated it! You can't press the buttons very well. The plastic bubbles up, making swiping hard. The cut-outs don't work well.
I avoided the Belkin because it looks like more of the same -- hard to use. And $20 too.
I bought these two from eBay (pictures attached):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/26107246592...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1413
The 1st one is the one I truly wanted. I wanted something that will hold the device securely but will let me use all the features and buttons.
I'll let you know how secure it is when I get it. The picture looks loose, but I figure then I can use it with my Diztronic case and it should fit snug (Bonus!).
I got the 2nd one because it looked nice for running when it's sprinkling. Water + device = bad.

ATT stores carry this http://www.alternativewireless.com/nxe-activesleeves-phone-cases-large.html
Comes as a pack of 2 for 30 bucks, the XL size fits the GS3 pretty good. I have a 17" bicep and it isn't as snug as I would like, but when I am in the gym they are a little over 18" so it fits great. And when I run my arms are usually up and flexing often so it stays snug then too. Just sitting at my desk it doesn't work as good lol.
Its neprene or something and super stretchy so you could probably fit the phone into a smaller size.

I got this one in the mail.
Unfortunately the phone fits very tightly. The case keeps mashing the buttons when it's in the case.
My friend ordered one and said his is fine. If you order off eBay, might want to get 2-3 direct from China and use the best one.
Also, don't order unless you have fairly thick biceps. I don't have would I would consider super-thin biceps, about 13-14 inches, but this thing is definitely designed for someone with a 16+ inch bicep.
Just got one of these... pretty impressed.
I have had 4 cases so far (had a half dozen or so for my Nexus 4; none I was happy with) with my Moto X:
Otterbox Commuter: Too hard to take on/off, lousy buttons, slippery.
Amzer Pudding: Meh, buttons not so good.
Incipio Dual Pro: Love it.
Trident Aegis: This is one pretty beefy piece of silicone. While the plastic out piece is not as grippy as the almost candle wax feel of the Dual Pro, it has a better texture than the Commuter, and enough silicone in the middle and corners (with a nice little ear) to make the phone quite grippy, without it sticking to your pocket.
Not quite as easily put on/off as the Dual Pro, but much easier than the Commuter due to no outer hard shell going over the buttons.
Buttons feel just as positive as the Dual Pro. This is definitely my case for the golf course, hiking, and anywhere else I think it may get knocked around.
Hey man great overall summary. Would you happen to haircut any pictures of the phone inside the cases? Would love to see how they look.

Headphone jack has a very easily removed cover that moves well out of the way. But the diameter of the case above it doesn't seem like it would support a wide connector (I can measure if you want).

Appreciate it. I went ahead and took pictures to give you a good idea. In terms of numbers: I'm hoping for around a 15mm clearance; whether it is at least feasible to trim the hole to make it so.

I have the Seidio Dilex case w/ holster, and really like the look of the Aegis case better, but the lack of an available holster makes it a non-starter. Does anyone know if the Aegis case works well (or at all) with the Seidio holster? The dimensions listed on the Trident web site indicate that the Aegis case is 0.15" taller than the Dilex, but that's probably from the "points" at the ends, not the center - where the clip would hold the case in the holster.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea...if push comes to shove....I might just do that. The only thing that worries about that is the change in impedance from doing that. I'm sure I can compensate but I hadn't thought of it before cause I always got lucky with the cases I bought being able to fit the whole 15mm diameter.

I have 555's too. Great headset! But creating a short pigtail won't increase impedance. The 555 uses an OFC cable, so if you really want to keep it pure, make your pigtail out of the same stuff.

You could always get a short extension cable with a smaller plug.

That is what I use now so I don't ever have to worry about it no matter what phones/case combo I'm using. I hated the idea of limiting my case choices just because the jack opening was a little tight.
I have a Trident Aegis for my Moto G and it is indeed a tough, rugged case that provides a lot of protection. I use it when I think the phone might get bounced around some. But, I found it too bulky for every day use. Much more so than I thought it would be. I ended up with an Incipio DualPro and find I like it much better for normal use. It still provides good protection but without the extra bulk of the Aegis.

Appreciate it. I went ahead and took pictures to give you a good idea. In terms of numbers: I'm hoping for around a 15mm clearance; whether it is at least feasible to trim the hole to make it so.

The Ballistic SG1188-A065 SG Case for Motorola X Phone has a fairly large cut out for the headphones so it may do the trick. I manage to plug in the large socket adapter on the hifiman re-zero's, although sometimes I have to make certain they are connected snuggly.
Unfortunately the forum won't let me a post a link to show you how large the adapter is because I haven't made ten posts.
Try googling headphonia hifiman re-zero
I have the Trident Aegis case for my X. Bought it off of Amazon, new in the retail packaging for $20.00. The case works well & as expected. The only gripes I have I that the opening for the headphone jack is wee bit small for all of my Jacks & it collects dust like crazy on the rubber parts of the case. It also is harder to find desktop docks & car mounts to fit the case (thickness & the charge port covers get in the way).
