Hi,
I've got a camera app on the play store called "Snap Camera HDR" and people have reported that it crashes on the Optimus G.
I don't know what ROMs they are running, (probably Stock) and I've had one report for geehrc and one for geeb so it probably affects all models.
If somebody could get me a log of it crashing and help with testing, I'd be really grateful. Attached is a full version of the app.
This will work for a few days but will then fail the license check, send me a log and I'll give you a licence for the app.
Thanks

Tried it on this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437562
And well, it works good, cant get it to crash or so :d
Tried and working well on stock european rom 10d. No chrashes but a few times it took pictures by itself and sort of merged two pictures together. I think it was in HDR mode. Attached a pic of it.

OK, Thanks, I don't know what the problem can be then. I'll try to get more information from the people who said it crashed.
The HDR photo looks about right, you have to hold it still to capture two exposures.

I've snap Camera for 3/4 months and never crashed on stock rooted ROM.

I'm running the current stable version of CM10 and love it except for one problem. The camera sucks now. It will not focus. It seems to be stuck on infinity even though in the settings I've changed it to everything from Auto to macro.
Is it possible to load just the stock camera on top of the CM camera module?

Apparently you can't. Take a look at the thread I created just yesterday about this:

Can't run stock camera on cm due to drivers not playing well together. But U can run the android 4.2 camera. There are flash able zips all over the place for it. Only downside I've seen from it is if flash is on it'll crash gallery but that only happens to some people. Either way its worth a try sense flashing it won't replace the cm camera just runs along side it.

Thank you. THAT was a helpful answer.
Now I just gotta find that zip.

Well, Now it's really broke. I flashed the camera file from your link and when the new camera launches it crashes when I try to take a picture.
So it's gone from bad to worse...
I re-flashed the file 3 times with now the same results. Even the old camera is crashing now.
It's ashamed I can't get this working because I really love CM10 otherwise. Apparently it's just my device though as others seem to not be having this problem.
I feel like a dolt for having to ask this, but where is CM10 for this device? I checked the get cm website, and the development forum here, and couldn't find anything aosp except for miui.
BTW, a broken camera is a hallmark of anything CM.

Here's the link for the Sprint model.
http://get.cm/?device=d2spr&type=stable
Just browse up a level for different models and "nightlys".
It's great that this forum covers so much but unfortunately it also makes it difficult, even using search, to find anything.

Sounds like something went wrong with the flash. Maybe the lib files were missing.

Could it help to flash one of the recent "Nightlys"?
I've never done that because it's taken me so long to get the layout of all my apps and pages the way I like them. I know there's some way to back that up but that's for another post I guess. Too new to the whole rooting and ROM flashing process...
I don't think I ever had problems with the CM10 default camera, try a clean flash and try again, and yes, the 4.2 camera does fc on the gallery, sadly its the only reason I can't see myself using anything CM based , I love it, but the default camera basically throws the whole ROM off for me

Yeah it only fc if the flash is on but that's a killer for me. Only hope is when cm 10.1 hits SG3.

I had the same problem.. sorta.. after snapping off a photo, the camera would just freeze, then warning / pop up stating 'gallery not responding'.. I ended up dumping and starting over. I'm using the CM10 build date of 11/13 and so far so good, camera and gallery working correctly now.
Google Edition Camera apk
Wondering if anyone was able to get it to work on Shelnutt2's CM10.1. I keep getting force closed on camera, gallery works fine though.
[SOLVED] It wasn't working because of a mod on the media_profiles.xml file that I was using. Once I went to the normal file, it started working.
I can confirm rear and front cameras as well as photosphere work on Lifeless 14 however photos are limited to 8mp.

Is that the one from Banks gapps?
Edit: I flashed photosphere. Then the new camera app installed; however, it force closes when opening the camera app.
I just tried on Shelnut2 CM 10( build 6.27).
What I did to make it work was (using Titanium Backup) uninstall Gallery. You will get a notice if you want t, uninstall gallery2.apk, hit yes. Then install Google edition camera apk and the camera should work with 13 MP, not reboot necessary (although it is recommended).

Interesting, in Titanium, I see Gallery 1.1.400001 and when I try to un-install, it says "Cannot remove system app, Failed to locate the apk file"
It's weird because with other system apps, I can remove without issue.
Edit: Figured it out. It was because of a mod on the media_profiles.xml file causing it to force close.
This may be a dumb question, but where are you getting photosphere from to flash before installing the new camera app?
Also will it work for stock ROMs as well?
Does this replace the stock camera app?

It should work on stock roms as others have done it. I don't think it replaces the stock camera, instead you may have 2 camera apps (make a backup of the current camera/gallery app before installing).
Have you tried just installing it like a normal app? That should work.
If you need the photosphere addon, you can find it here: Banks Gapps Photosphere
Works nicely on Jellybeer.

its the media profiles that messes it up. i pulled the one out of beanstalk and moved it to the ETC folder and it works now. heres the file!
Works well with AOKP, btw I didn't the flashable zip that was included in that thread and had no issues at all.
I'm not rooted and I got it working fully but for some reason mine only goes to 8mp. Not a big deal for me but still would like the option.

Hello,
Looking for the most stable AOSP Jellybean ROM.
Recently have been having trouble with everything - Tasks AOKP, Cyanogen Mod 10.1, you name it.
My issues are mostly front facing camera not working in 3rd party apps (instagram)(causing a restart) and MMS not working (Fido - have correct APNs).
I just need something that works - that is not TW.
Suggestions.
As far as mms goes are you using adblocker? If so that's why it blocks the port mms uses.

This problem seems to be pretty prevalent with all AOSP ROMs. I don't know why some people have the problem and others don't. I just recently found it when I tried to use the front facing camera on Focal (same prob as instagram). Haven't really found any real answers here. Don't know if I'm just looking in the wrong forums or what. I'll try and let you know if I find something.
Carbon is the best!!!
I've been running pac man rom nightlys for a month now and everything seems to be working great.
I've been running on Task's AOKP for months with 0 issues. *knock on wood*
I switched over from CM because it never seemed like they could get something truly stable.
Carbon
Carbon is the best IMHO. As far as the front facing camera, I think that is mostly a problem with the app itself.
I'd have to give Quantum a shout out here. Haven't had a whole lot of problems with it, and Pwn is quick to fix things if necessary. I honestly don't know where he finds the time...
Best ROM threads always turn into "pull it out and see whose is better" threads.

I dont know if im the only one struggling with this issue but whenever I use a 4.3 Rom and access my gallery, it reboots every time. Its pretty annoying, but I really want to use 4.3. Does anyone know how to fix this issue????

I asked this same question in a different post. Remove ALL MP4 files, and the reboots stop. Unfortunately, we gotta wait for support, or use a replacement gallery that does support MP4 on 4.3... I have yet to find one.
Full system reboot? That's some interesting exception handling!

I'll give it a go tomorrow. The issue isn't the gallery itself. That works just fine. The issue comes along when you have MP4 files that the gallery tries to read. I have no clue why most ROMs do this...But I will certainly give yours a go and see what's up.
Thanks for this, btw.
I have Galaxy s3 with SlimRom 4.4.4 build 7.0 and using instagram version 6.5.0
I'm trying to upload a video I rendered using Premier Pro to instagram, I used the setting I found on this site, ... okay can't post links but if you google "premier pro instagram settings" look for a post on a site called whoismatt dot com where he details effective settings for premier pro to export an instagram compatible and mobile friendly h.264/mp4 file. These settings have worked before.
The upload bar goes halfway and then instagram tells me the video failed to upload, no other error and I don't know how to pull any logs from the app to see what is actually failing.
At one point I was able to upload videos, I was using an earlier version of SlimRom (no clue what build but it was still 4.4.4) but since I updated to build 7 it hasn't worked. I did a clean update too, wiped everything off my phone and installed a fresh rom, Slimrom 4.4.4 Build 7.0.
Apart from the rom the only other major modification to my phone is using V6 supercharger, no OC. I had this problem even before I applied the V6 mod, after I installed build 7 of my rom.
Any help on this? I am and amateur photographer and film maker so I really would like the ability to post videos of things I make on instagram but I'm also very picky and like editing my videos before posting them.
As for looking on the forums and googling for the answer, the only things I keep finding are "instagram fails" or people complaining that instagram doesn't have this or that feature. At one point I saw a mention of a temporary folder being out of the permission scope of the instagram app so it causes the upload to fail but other than a bit of speculation there was no definitive answer on how to fix that. I also believe that was on a different phone/rom.
Thank you.
Looks like there was an update to the app a week or two ago. Maybe that could be why?

Sounds like a ROM problem then. You'll probably want to talk to someone who actually uses those. I only use touchwiz ROMs so I'm not familiar with yours.

Yeah I'm hoping someone using it will post on here, but doesn't seem like it. The thread for that rom has been moved in to the developer area and I can't comment on it. I also don't think my problem is severe enough to PM the dev and hog up their inbox.
