[Q] Soft keys don't respond - LG Optimus G Pro

Hi everybody
I just bought this AT&T LG OG pro (used but like new) and really love it.
The only thing is that: the soft keys (back + menu) light up but don't respond. I've tried reset it but no change.
All hard buttons work (power, volume, quick memo). This is really a big deal b/c I can't use the phone w/o the back key...
Anyone has this problem? Any idea to fie this?
Thanks

I dont own the device but are you running stock recovery? If not... go back to stock recovery. Boot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset there.

Thanks for the quick reply
Everything is stock, I did Power + Vol down, it takes me to a "hard reset" screen, I used power to confirm, it does hard reset, but no change
When I touch the soft keys, there is no response at all (light/vibrate/effect), they light up only when other thing is pressed, does it mean that the touch panel is dead or something?

Up
any help?

Sorry but i don't understand
The phone is new, buyed in italy from fastweb, without modify.
If it doesn't power on at all, and you have done nothing to it, then the device is faulty. Go get it exchanged.
Have you charged your phone?
If you have and its still stuck, try taking out the battery for a few minutes, put it back in and power on.
If still stuck, then quickly exchange it.
The phone power on normally. The screen power on but just i see only fastweb logo.
There is a recovery procedure, per avviarlo in modalità di emergenza as HTC Diamond?
Shouldn't you be able to recover it from the boot menu even without using root?
Ehmm

I'm not capable, you can give a guide to follow?
Boot menu is when you hold down the volume down button and press the power button (while the volume down button is still pressed)
Seriously, you might save yourself some headache if you get it replaced if it is still under warranty/contract.
OK!

now I understand!
unfortunately I do not have the bill
OK after boot menu, What I do?
Is there an option to factory reset the phone?
As far as I can understand, you haven't used the phone yet, so you shouldn't be partial to any data on the phone - just wipe.
If that doesn't work... Well, try wiping first.

[Q] Factory Reset help

(bare with me, i am kind of a noob, i rooted my phone, but i think somone else flashed a rom..not sure and it has nova launcher) I have Verizon Galaxy Nexus and I am about to trade it along with some cash to someone with a note 2. I currently have my phone rooted and i think it is running a rom. If i just do the default factory reset...will that be good enough for when we swap phones?

yeah thats AOKP, a custom rom.. and yeah you could do a factory reset there but i would recommend doing it in recovery, power down you, hold both volume buttons and power button at the same time to get into the bootloader. then press the down volume button twice until you see "recovery mode", and press the power button to select. now if you see a android with a exlamation you have stock recovery so you will need to press and hold the power button then press the up button.. but i am 99% sure you will have a custom recovery and that wont be needed.. but either way when you get to recovery do a factory reset
PS- i find it weird that you knew to put the "[Q]" before the title but didnt post this thread in the Q&A section

[Q] How to enter recovery mode using key combination?

I can use "adb reboot recovery" to enter TWRP 2.7 recovery mode, but I want to use key combination, please tell me how to that.
Hold Power + Vol Down > Wait until LG Logo pops up and release from both buttons > quickly hold Power + Vol Up + Vol Down again
It will pop up with some message about reset to factory settings, but it's all a bluff.
Hit Power x3 times to confirm and you'll get to TWRP recovery
Thanks, it works.
actually I enter this factory reset mode before, but i just don't know it a "fake".
so will this erase all data or not?

That will depend on whether you've installed TWRP or not.
If you've still got the original recovery it will wipe it like it says it will, if you've got a custom recovery it will take you to it.
The standard recovery isn't a recovery like you're expecting it to be, if just has a way of resetting things to default without allowing you to do anything extra. OEM don't like giving people options but want a way to reset to defaults that the customer can use before needing to return a faulty unit which might not be faulty. If that makes sense.

Thought I'd lost recovery after flashing the lp rom. Sorry for the bump! Many thanks and lol at the 'bluff' factory reset!

From what I can tell, it's not a "bluff". It seems that the stock recovery partition would just automatically do a factory reset, so it warns you before booting the recovery partition. Seeing as you're non-stock, it just boots into TWRP/CWM. It's a valid warning that's simply set up in a weird way.

You don't.
We'll you might be able to but you're going about it the wrong way.
First you need to find the right forum for your device, then you read, followed by more reading.
At some point you've hopefully discovered that you should have done all this reading before you reset your device.
Also before pressing the post button on your next post, read it first to make sure it makes sense.
Thank you very much, I tried other combinations found on some web pages that failed. This one worked!
Issue remains.

It cannot write ANY data ANYWHERE. Can't take pics, Can't take screenshots, Can't download apps. Nothing. I really want my tablet back... :/

I'm probably not the best person to help, however if you put a new post up with more details on what you have access too, the community will be able to help out.

Install LG software on your computer first. Then with the tablet completely off, hold VolUp and plug the tablet into the computer. That will enter LG download mode. Use the LG software on your PC to install the latest firmware available for your device. From there you can use the guides on this forum to go custom if you so desire.

Are you sure your friend has an original LG G4 and not a knock-off?
Could you post a picture of what he has in backup and restore? Also, while trying to get into recovery mode, could you record a video? I'd like to see what's happening in each of these cases. To me, it sounds like it's not an LG G4 from LG. Could be a knock-off or something like that. It's very strange that those two things wouldn't work... One is independent of the OS he has installed as booting into recovery is very basic, and the other sounds like a customized version of the OS rather than LG's default. But I also have a European model, and I don't know where his is from... Where is it from? It seems strange...

the phone is Origin from LG and bought from CLOVE in UK. And it's already got a FOTA update last week and the rom is a stock one. posted 2 pictures. Now I realized two more things when I double knock on the screen it gets me directly to the home screen and not to the lock screen and only the back button of the home touch screen buttons is working.
These are what I have. All I can say is that the HW is opposite side of mine. Hmmm

Boot it on recovery mode to do a factory reset. To do that. Turn OFF the phone, HOLD Vol- and Power button. When LG logo shows up, Release the power button for 1 second and hold it again. (keep holding VOL-) Keep both held until you see the factory reset option. Use Vol up or down to select Yes or No. Press Power and wait for it to reset.
I tried this at the begining but it didn't work. the last thing that I tried through LG bridge to"restore update error" and after the update when the phone boot up still I had the same mistake and no factory restore. I turned off the phone and tried the recovery mode as you discribed and this time it worked and reset my phone.:good:
Thanks a lot guys for your help.
