And I have another problem with my nexus .
It's slow, doesnt always react to input, etc etc.
I already am on stock and it seems that I just have to live with these problems.
But the newest thing is that doesnt go to sleep. When I press the power button the device turns off for 2-20 seconds and turns then back on again. I already did a factory reset and as i mentioned above I am on Stock Firmwar/Rom (4.3).
Any ideas?

I have a idea that COULD solve all your issues.
Go back to stock via fastboot.

I went back via fastboot. several times. to 4.2 and to 4.3.
Still the same problem. I think it is an app that is waking the device but how do i find out which?

Use betterbatterystats or a wakelock detector to see what is waking your device.

I used wakelock detector. Turn the Device off, then it turned itself back on and this is what the app shows my... actually cant read from that which app ist causing the trouble

I've been using the NFC with the TecTiles when I first got the phone and everything was working fine. I recently started running into a problem with the NFC where it wouldn't work. I would have to go into the system menu, turn NFC off and turn it back on in order for it to read the tags. A few minutes later it wouldn't read the same tag until I turn it off and on again. What could be causing this behavior? I'm running FreeGS3_GSM_R3_FiveOhFive rom, with the baseband of T999UVLEM

Yes even after reboot, it would still occur. Maybe it's an issue with the rom itself?
Hi!..I have an issue with the screen. Sometimes when I keep my phone aside my phone screen suddenly lightens up shows the pattern unlock page and automatically turns off. This happens 4-5 times in succession. First I thought its because of the antivirus app so I uninstalled it but still the problem persists. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any suggestion will be helpful.

I think we'll probably need a lot more information than that...
It could be anything. When I have mine plugged into my computer and the screensaver kicks on or when the laptop falls asleep, it does the same thing to mine because the USB power is cycling but it could be anything. Are you rooted? What ROM? What kernel? What is the battery state? Go into settings > apps and see what's running, start testing those out.
If your rooted, the problem with the screen waking is possibly superSU granting an app root access. Its usually a toast pop up saying that an interactive shell has been granted. At least it has been for me in the past. You can turn the notification off in the superSU settings.

my gf's HD2 used to do the same thing after she dropped it on its bottom right corner.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
My Nexus does that from time to time. Running AOKP JB preview builds. Latest franco kernel. Screen just turns on. No popups, no notification, just shows the lock screen until it times out again. Doesn't do it enough to worry me but it is a little odd.
No I have not rooted my nexus, using ICS 4.0.4. My phone is yakjuxw so haven't got the JB update yet..I have general apps like Facebook, whatsapp, power toggle, etc to name few.

Next time it does it see if your phone says charging even though not plugged in. Could be a bad charge port on your phone.
Had the same thing. The culprit turned out to be folder sync.

no there is no bolt shown in the battery indicator...could be an app issue??
I know its been reported with jelly bean that the screen is unable to turn off normally and you have to push the power button to turn it off. Currently the only fix I know of is a reboot. Anyone with any other tips??
Mine works fine, did you flash any mods or some kind of lock screen app?

Yes, I'm on Wicked Sensations v1.2 right now. But i've read that a few people have been having this issue with JB. I just started using XDA so I can't post on the OP yet so thats why I posted here. Was just hoping for some feedback and opinions. I have flashed a few mods on it, but none seem to be the problem...i dont think. haha

I'm having the same problem
I am not rooted and running stock jelly bean (ota version that I installed early because I was too impatient for them to push it to my phone). I have noticed my screen randomly staying on, too. It's very annoying because sometimes I don't notice until my battery is dead. A reboot fixes it temporarily, but I'd love a permanent fix if anyone has any additional ideas! Thanks! I've tried all the obvious settings, but can't figure it out. Is there an app that can help me figure out what the culprit might be?
(And can I just say, an edit to a post ought not fall under the "wait five minute" rule for new posters. Just my two cents .)

Use an app called Stay Awake. Works great for me.
Hello,
Today my phone randomly turned off by itself, and when I turned it back on, it got to the samsung screen and then went black. After I tried again/pulled the battery, it did the same thing. I can access recovery and download modes, but when I tried to restore my phone, my phone ****s off before the process can commence. Since the phone barely stays on for 5 seconds, I can't get Odin to see my phone. Please help. My phone is rooted, but I never installed a custom ROM. I'm still stock.
Try to pull the battery, then plug in the USB. You should be able to enter download mode without the restart.

Doesn't work. When I plug it in without the battery, the charging light comes on, then turns off, then the mini vibration happens. But I never get a samsung screen. Can't access download mode at all without the battery.
That did happen to me before. I'm trying to remember how I repaired it. When the battery is in, and turned on. Is it rebooting alot or stuck on the Samsung screen?

The samsung screen will come up, disappear, and then the phone doesn't do anything again. I have to pull the battery to get it to turn on again.

Hmm. I'm stumped. Sorry. I had the very same issue with my i777. I had the Odin screen on while I fiddled wth the USB connection at the phone until it finally stayed connected long enough to push a recovery to it. Although it doesn't appear you have the same issue. I figured I'd throw it out there. Again. I'm sorry I can't help further.

Not to my knowledge, I can still push it just fine.
There have been more than a few instances where someone would have similar issues where if would shut off after a few seconds. Most times it would reboot itself over and over, but for a few people it would just shut down.
Most of the cases I've seen, it turned out to be something keeping the button in contact causing it to trigger the switch.
Sometimes it was the button itself got jammed, others the button felt ok, maybe a bit loose, but under it it was essentially pushed in. A couple have apparently just had a bad switch or a short.
May or may not be the case here, but thought I'd go ahead and mention it.

Some people simply opened up the phone and reseated the button. Others had to buy a new button and replace themselves. Some sent it in to a repair shop to have it done for them and a couple who suspected it was an issue with a switch or a short on the board I don't think were ever able to fix it.
One guy got mad at his and slammed it on the table. After that he said it worked fine! I do NOT recommend this!!! But I have fixed stereos, VCR's, CD players, and all sorts of electronic equipment with this method! I would never attempt it with this fragile screen though!
What I recommend is that you go to a phone service centre that does JTAG, that way they can diagnose and repair the motherboard

I can't be so sure, but to me it sounds like the motherboard, if you have used triangle away before and have a clean flash counter you could send your device to Samsung for service and repair?

I was under the impression that Sudden Death couldn't happen to US variants and they they had fixed it in the updates, guess I was wrong. Gonna have my friend look at it, if he can't fix it i'll send it to T-Mobile.
when you try to access dl mode you get the option to continue or reboot, choose reboot and long press home and volume up, this will cause recovery to boot up (I sometimes have trouble getting it to boot with my problem without this method) then flash your rom again or flash a firmware package. this will at least get you into your rom for the time being. Then you can work from there.

Hey guys. I'm new to the Galaxy Nexus forum and I need help. My phone has been turning its screen back on after I lock it. Most people say its a hardware issue but I just got this phone and its brand new. Is it a software issue?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You bet it can. Try factory resetting your phone. I do assume you're still running stock everything.
If you are and that fails, a hardware issue could be due to a sticky or faulty power button.
I'm running stock 4.2.2 and there's barely anything on it right now. I'm the second owner of this phone but the original owner never used it so I don't know what else is wrong with it.
