Yes there are a couple. Search and you will find them. Bin4ry's method and a prerooted CWM flashable rom are two of the ways to do it with locked bootloader.

You can't root 587 directly. You have to downgrade to an earlier version of firmware to do so, and then flash a 587 kernel to get it back to the most updated firmware (therefore keeping root).
Flash this, root with this (by running the runme.bat file), and then flash this
Good luck!

You have to use flashtool to flash firmwares/kernels onto your phone. Here's a tutorial on how to do it.

Did you tried sony offical unlock? If you can't either, I think there's nothing you can do.
[I saw some website (don't remember the url) that claimed that you could unlock it via imei codes, but it was pretty expensive (€ 49,00)... Plus I'm not sure if this was for carrier or bootloader unlock.]

At this Sony thingy where I can check if my BL is unlockable or not it says "No". So I can't flash any unofficial kernels.

Just add this to your build.prop at the end -
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Save it and reboot. It works 100%, I tested it myself

Well Doom has clearly stated that this rom can be flashed on locked bootloader too. All he needs right now is stock ics with CWM installed and then he can flash the rom
Plus cwm is available even for locked bootloader now
But CWM is not fully working. And it's outdated version.

Yes, u r exactly right, before updating via SUS, to install pre-rooted JB, I had tried with installed CWM(locked bootloader, stock ICS 4.0.4) downloading that ROM but CWM didn't work properly. Isn't there any other way to get root acess till now @ 6.2.B.0.200 (locked bootloader)?

doesn't work in xperia v 4.3 too
I hope that the devs will make an exploit that will work on 4.3 The next couple of weeks,Having no root access is a disadvantage especially for us. ( Xperia M users) Because of the low internal memory problem we can't play hd games with big data files,The solution that i found for that is rooting and Using Directory Binder from Lucky Patcher and another problem is those battery hogging bloatwares,We can't remove those bloatwares because we don't have a root access,I noticed that after i updated to 4.3,The battery drains fast,And i think it's because of those damn bloatwares.

Off topic:Hey guys i just want to share what i discovered to speed up our device
Disable animations
A hidden settings option in Android will give you access
to commands you may have never known existed. Go to
Settings, About Phone, scroll down to Build number, and
tap it seven times. You will now have access to
developer options. These special settings allow you to
do a variety of things, but they are meant for advanced
users and shouldn't be changed unless you know what
you are doing.
One tweak that could speed up your device is disabling
animations within the operating system. To do this, open
Settings, go to Developer options, and scroll down to
the Drawing option. Next, turn off the Window animation
scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration
scale. This will disable animations that occur when you
open, close, and switch between apps. Although the
interface will look less polished, there should be less lag
in performance.
Note:Works on other devices too.

Well, Xperia M doesn't come with Bravia Engine oficially, but yes, you'll lose Bravia Engine, TrackID and Download music/video info functionality from Movies/Walkman app, along with other proprietary Sony features that I don't remember now.
BUT you can make a TA backup, enjoy root from unlocked bootloader, and when a working root method for locked bootloaders arrive, you restore your TA backup to relock your BL and get the proprietary Sony features back...
I still prefer to wait for a new root method, but there's always a method (although hard) to get root without waiting for new exploits

Nice but...an heads-up: I strongly suspect that as soon as you unlock the bootloader you void your warranty (actually to unlock you have to communicate to Sony your IMEI); it doesn't matter if you then come back locking again
