[Q] Is Xperia ION LT28i LTE phone ? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

I am buying this ION (LT28i) to use the LTE from AT&T's network here in the US. Is this LTE enabled ? Heard there are three versions, LT28i/at/h and dunno which has LTE and which doesn't. Also, will I experience the fast LTE speeds seen in other LTE phones on AT&T network ?

Yes the lt28i is LTE.

Thanks Spectre51! Really appreciate your quick reply. I have a couple more questions. First do I see the blazing fast LTE speeds on this device as on other AT&T devices ? Second can I unlock the bootloader and install custom roms on this particular model ?

Speeds should be fast. If I remember right I used to get 20mb+ down on LTE. To see if you unlock the boot loader dial *#*#7378423#*#* then go to service info then configuration if it says boot loader unlock allowed Yes then you can.

[Q] Xperia PLAY 4G AT&T - Will it work on T-Mobiles 4G HSPA+?

I am considering getting a Xperia PLAY 4 AT&T for when my contract ends with Verizon. I aw the new T-Mobile plans that were announced on July 1st and am considering going with them, as they have a new plan where if you bring in your own phone their services are really cheap. Anyway, my question is if anyone here is using the AT&T PLAY on T-Mobile in the US if they can tell me how good is the HSPA+ with T-Mobile? I thought I have seen somewhere that TMo and AT&T share the same frequency for HSPA+. Can anyone give me there feedback on this? Thank you in advance.

Edit : I read your post wrong at first. I know my r800a is carrier unlocked and will work for both att and tmobile. But I havent used it yet, If I do though, I will be sure and let you know!
Hate to revive an old thread but wanted to let everyone know I switched from VZ to Tmobile last night, and I am getting 7mbps down 2mbps up on my unlocked AT&T xperia play.
All in all I am very happy.
Kinda off topic but whats the model for the play 4g as I looked it up and could not find it...wouldn't be different then the r800a/i/x/at or is the at the 4g version?

Its AT&T's xperia play (R800at) they call it the xperia play 4G because it has the HSPA+ frequency. So not really 4G, more like 3.5G.

The "r800A" and "AT" are pretty much identical. I think the "A" was just sold outside the US. You could get an R800A and flash the right TA file to it and use it on AT&T.

I have an R800a on t-mobile but the hspa is super slow for me, has the big H symbol but its exactly what I expect running edge, something must be wrong, is 120-150 kbps on hspa normal?

Interesting, I didn't know that the LT28 was a "Verizon Wireless-Certified 4G device". So I went to verify the LT28's compatibility on the verizon site using my IMEI and Serial #, both came up as invalid.
Can you provide the information that you've determined it can be used on the Verizon network?

Verizon is CDMA not GSM and as such doesn't use a sim.

Mostly true, but apparently Verizon does have some sim/gsm (I think voice only) phones but they are far and few. According to their site it has to be a "Verizon certified 4G device", and the Lt28 is not (and probably not any off Verizon phone either).

LTE for Sony Xperia Ion LT 28i

Tell me please, is there a way to use my phone LT 28i in Russian networks? I will clarify the issue. Setting up the modem for LTE through software or does it depend on the model of the modem? Can I get the software from any model that works in Russian networks for use in Ion?
Ok, I will ask anyway. From what device I can copy the files that are responsible for its LTE modem on Ion? As these files are named and where they are?
Surely no one is trying to do?
I think the LT28i doesn't have a LTE modem. Only the AT&T model.

Incorrect the LT28i has LTE built in and the firmware supports it out of the box. It all depends on what LTE network bands your carrier uses and whether the phone supports those bands.

Oh. Interesting. I thought the other Ion models (the ones that not At&T) ones "only" had HSPDA+. Nice to know.

Thank you for your response. But my question remains. Which model can I get drivers for LTE in Russia, where they are and how to call them? Can I install the drivers from another phone model? Suppose LG? Or from the Sony Xperia Z? Can anyone tell where the files are and how to get it from the firmware Z? Or put on sharing with installation instructions.

There aren't drivers. The phone only supports ccertain frequencies. Look at the specs for it then look at what frequencies your carrier uses.

In my opinion, you're wrong. Now I will wait for the new XTX for Ion. It will be based, as I understand, the firmware on the Z. And Z supports LTE in Russia. We'll see. )))

It isn't software only. If it was like that, we'd have many and many phones with worldwide LTE. The hardware also needs to support the frequencies. It's like saying that a change of drivers would make a Bluetooth device work as a radio, which uses other frequencies.

LTE on Fido

Here's my issue:
I have a Bell unlocked ZL that i currently use on fido. I have matched the band specs to other lte enabled devices on fido roster for lte compatibility (1700/2100mhz specifically because that's what my ZL has) but i'm not getting lte.
I ran in to this problem with my unlocked s3 and note, but for some reason I was able to get lte with my Nexus 4 (purchased from fido), which technically doesn't even support lte.
I have the correct answer settings and everything, but my phone just won't catch an lte signal.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me?

I';m with Fido, and there is no problem with LTE after upgrading to 4..2.2
from your screenshots i see the difference with my settings:
Name: Fido LTE
APN: ltemobile.apn
the rest is okay
MAY be it's case sensitive. can't guarantee that.
I had to set it manually.
the LTE sign appears when data is chosen.

As it turns out, the twat that sold me a "LTE sim" actually sold me a regular sim.
After buying a proper LTE sim and swapping it out, (no apn settings changed) I now have full LTE access.
With dual shock 3 support built in and the IR blaster for universal remote functionality, I'm 100% satisfied with my Xperia ZL.
Bugger all the haters that chirp about the screen and viewing angles. It's a tight ass phone and the tech behind it is well beyond par.

XAS with LTE SIM?

Hello folks..
Im just wondering if anyone of you TRIED to insert an LTE SIM to Xperia Acro S? Im wondering about the mobile internet speed if possible. If you have LTE sim with data, can you go try to insert it to your Acro S and do a speedtest?
THank you and hoping to hear from you
If it supports it i see why it shouldent work
try inserting the sim and going to settings to see if lte has shown up
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
LTE requires a proper LTE frequencies built into the phone. Something that XAS doesn't have. The SIM is only part of the process

Thanks for the response.. you know, im outdoor most of the times with my laptop so USB tethering is vital for me. Now, Im considering to buy another LTE phone, can you guys suggest some which costs just right?
Im thinking this Xperia SP but color saturation are poor like Z and V is an older model so I guess i dont want it. Plus the 8gb internal storage is annoying.. if you have any other phones to recommend within the same price range will be appreciated a lot
