Is it possible to have a landscape bootanimation that is sized correctly?
I always use my tablet in landscape mode, I have the rotation lock on. So a custom landscape boot would be awesome.
Possible?
Possible? yes, but in my experience it was never smooth, unless it was a static image. The image has to cover the entire screen(1920x1200) otherwise it will stretch to portrait itself and look ugly. Imagine images with a size of 1920x1200 moving at 24 frames per second and you get an idea of how sloppy will move. But a static one or really simple one I guess it could do the job. Gonna try that one tomorrow.

I was thinking the Google Gears one that was ported over.
That would be awesome in landscape.
As long as the resolution is correct etc.

I'm deeply sorry, I forgot, I'm doing that one for you right now, I'm testing it. It's the one that says google and has some gears moving.
Edit: Good news, I made it, it works perfectly landscape, bad news, I'm using the Nexus, and XDA fails to let me upload it and d-h.st is down. I'm gonna upload it tomorrow as soon as I get to a PC.

Awesome.
Here you go:
View attachment bootanimation.zip
The image is rotated the original landscape intended mode(nexus logo), camera on your left hand and the micro usb on your right. I don't know if you have noticed but every boot animation when it's about to show the lockscreen, they sightly move if you are holding the nexus landscape or have the rotation to landscape mode lock. That can/will happen to this one as well, the image may be landscape but the booanimations for the Nexus 7 were intended for a portrait mode, anyway, it looks great, I think I may do an AOKP one in landscape.
Looks really good. Now I just need a landscape splash screen and my tablet will be complete.

am i high or is this phone not quite bright enough to determine photograph orientation when uploaded to an app? if i take a shot in portrait mode, it'll upload to facebook, twitter, etc. in landscape. as far as i can tell (at least in twitter) there is no way to rotate that. any one else had this issue? are we forced to always shoot in landscape?

180 degrees is just upside down resulting in the same issue. i can 'rotate' the phone 90 degres and that puts it in "landscape" and it'll work fine. that said it seems ridiculous that i can't take a shot in portrait mode and it'll just work. pretty big miss by samsung.

Thanks. I meant 90 degrees. My brain not working good in the morning. LOL!
Yeah its a miss by Samsung. Later when we get new ROMs (you will need to be rooted), Im sure there will be a camera app ported from another device (maybe HTC Amaze) that addresses this issue.

already on the juggernaut bandwagon!
Anyone know how to create the red/blue static thats in the Battlefield 3 menu when youre respawning? Or at least what the effect is called.
You would need adobe after effects. If u mean as a still picture then its easy on Photoshop.
Wrong section to post this by the way.

My bad. Thank you for the help though. Do you know what i would have to do to implement this on a still picture?

You could do a HTML/JS (or HTML 5) rollover effect when the mouse rolls over the image it switches to the staticy-broken one like on battlelog.
Do a search for "HTML javascript image rollover"
especially the feature where u "zoom" and it shows u a preview of all your pictures in a card form! just venting
unless someone knows how to get it on AOKP??
I miss it too! If anyone finds out of a way to get it please share it!

Yep, that's it!
I actually prefer the ICS gallery as it utilizes the screen real estate much better. With it you can see almost 12 larger pictures as opposed to 9 smaller ones on the 3D gallery. Plus it doesn't get all wonky if you don't hold the phone straight. Oh yeah, you also lose the pictures editing option with the 3D gallery.
Hated the old Gallery...I welcome the new one!
It is still in aosp if anyone wants me to build it.
Edit: I lied. Its a different one.

But some people (like me) don't edit our pictures! Plus if we do, we can always go back to the old gallery! I like options! That's why I have an Android phone

Inspired by Zurginator's cool Nexus 4 backplate backgrounds, I've started working on a live wallpaper interpretation of LG's Crystal Reflection glass process.
Current release: 0.6-pre
NOTE: I'm not currently working on this and don't currently have any plans to come back to it. It was a fun diversion for a couple of weeks. Thanks everyone.
Features:
Reacts to motion of your handset or tablet in a realistic way
Optionally reacts to ambient lighting conditions
Somewhat configurable (color of dots and background, number and size of dots, show/hide the lines in the dots)
Free (as in beer)
Free (as in speech, BSD 2-clause license, pull requests welcomed!)
Known bugs:
I haven't actually seen the back of a real Nexus 4 yet, so I may need to tune the response function once I have. (And I do have one on the way.)
Needs a demo video. (I'll take a community contribution here.)
Other TODO:
Optimus G pattern (apparently some diamondy thing?)
Point source lighting mode
Consider OpenGL ES
Consider dropping support for all API < 18 if Filterscript DTRT?
Ch-ch-ch-changelog
Enjoy!
nicely done! i was gonna comment on the other post about live wallpaper...beat me to it haha!
Looks really nice. Also I did modify those default values a bit.

v0.5-pre is built, adding an option to disable the little lines across the dots, adding a real icon, and simplifying the label used in the Live Wallpapers list.
You may need to uninstall or delete prefs for the old version. Definitely try that if it's refusing to load.
I've noticed that if I crank up the number of dots across on my Nexus 7, I can still get significant delays in rendering, despite using precomputed bitmaps. I suspect that the Nexus 10 will experience poor performance due to the sheer number of bitmaps to render. As it turns out, there's no access to a hardware-accelerated canvas from a live wallpaper, so I may have to rewrite the core as [edited] OpenGL ES (graphics Renderscript is deprecated), which would delay feature work.

After I went into the wallpaper settings and came back out the dots were there for me.
Seems to work for me even after clearing shared prefs. If you're setting it on a level surface or with the display straight up and down, with the default settings the display will appear black; more so if you are in a dark room (light sensor is enabled by default). I don't expect there to be a reason to make significant changes there to the defaults. All indications from reviews of N4s say that you don't normally even see the pattern; if anything I'm probably overstating the effect.
Thank you! It´s beautiful and i like it´s kind of sparkling.:good:
Can't wait to try it out once Google gets the N4 back in stock.
Dude thanks a million this **** looks sick on the N4

hey i adss expecting the nexus on the back of the device to be colored, unfortunately its just plain gray..
can u come up with something like that in the live wall paper.. just a suggestion

Anyone wanna post a video? I would but my current phone doesn't have a gyroscope. Or a light sensor. Or a processor fast enough to take a screen video

Sorry, no, I don't plan to do anything along those lines.
Incidentally, OpenGL, even with the help of a framework: pain in the butt.
UPDATE: Along those lines, rather than wait for me to figure out how to make that work, have v0.6-pre. It has some modest performance improvements.

Nice work - I can definitely notice the performance improvements. Liking the customization options, as well.
This is fantastic, thanks so much for this. Perfect wallpaper to match my N4.
Really nice work mate. Keep up that great work Thanks
Can someone post a video? Im phoneless right now haha
So, if you have only 2 pages on your main screen on the HOX, and use wallpapers like these, you'll see that each word will fit each screen (so, on screen 1 you'll have the word "FAVS", and on the 2nd screen you'll have "HOME").
Is there any way to do this for 3 pages? I wanted a "FAVS", "GAMES" and "HOME" wallpaper, but every way I put it, the words keep overlapping to other pages (for instance, in the middle "GAMES" page, you would see the S from "FAVS").
Thanks in advance.
Guess making 4 isn't an option?

Make it 4, then. How would I do it? Without having the words overlap the other pages, what would the resolution and disposition of the words be?
Is this actually do-able?
You could try to make a widget on every page you need which says "favs" or whatever using uccw.
That way the wallpaper would onmy be a background.

Heh I thought of that just as I refreshed the page to read your comment.
But still, would be nice to be able to do stuff like that in the wallpaper.
For now I'll stick with the widgets then, but if someone actually knows how to do a wallpaper with any number of pages (except 2, that one's easy) that don't overlap each other, please share!

So I just tried that, and that's EXACTLY what I wanted. Thing is, it's laggy when moving between pages.
I've even changed the "Maximum Memory Usage" setting to "Unlimited", to no avail.
Any non-laggy alternatives?
