[ROM][JB 4.3][Sep 04] Unofficial CyanogenMod 10.2 | Fully Working - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It'sabout this ROM Port by tommypacker
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438832
Hey, I was happy to find a working 4.3 JB for Desire.
All Tests were fine until I recieved a call. The person on the other phone couldn't hear me, even when I called her back.
Seems like mic doesn't work at all during a phone call. It's always muted. Anybody else having this issue?

What radio are you on?

Thats the latest, so thats not the problem.
It could just be an issue with the rom. Its an early release of a port.

ROM issue. The dev won't be working on it until 2014, so you better switch to you previous ROM.

Yep, I'm on Chromium now, trying build 11. Very good experience with build 10 so far.

what's the most stable alternative?
Hi I've been running aokp 4.2.2 on HTC Desire for some time - it's great except for the video issues when using the camera (I understand that's an issue for many 4.2.2 roms?) - so I'd like to move to a 4.3 or 4.? rom that's recommended
Is the Desire S better supported on 4.3? - I've just put a CM version on an old Desire S (that's got some faults, so I can't tell for sure) and it seems OK at first look.
Many thanks, Geoff

Camcorder fix coming from [email protected]

OMG, paul reckons revised r20 update later today with camcorder fix (post 782)!!!
http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=311328&view=findpost&p=1325531
or am I reading this wrong!?
More than likely true as AdamG, Kali and Defer are working on it aswell. They got it working last night, just haven't built it =)
This will still be a port of N1 so Im gonna wait for Adam to fix bugs on his release
Why do you have a problem with N1 port ? Running great here ...
Also - they are further into the development on the port version than the real deal - so IMO it's better / more stable ...
/Inc
this should be a port from N1 froyo, maybe is
time for 720p for Desire

A port will never be as stable as compiled from source ROM.
I dont have a issue with ports as Im using deFrost atm.
Either way boys, were getting our camcorder fix... I'm sure Richard will also be on the case too... happy days

If you are using defrost - then why not use defrost with camcorder fix instead of waiting for Adams "raw" build ?
Endless discussion I guess - sorry ;-) - I just don't get it.
I look very much forward to the camcorder fix myself

Two for starters:
The lack intermittent loss of the optical trackpad
The notification light intermittently sticking on
not to mention FC errors on XDA app.
Excellent news this would be awesome when it is released. Will give me a reason to move back to a Froyo rom now with the announcement of a camcorder fix

[Q] Call delay solution?

Hello!
I've had my Desire for a year now and I've tested lots of custom ROMs. They all, save for one, have had problems with call delays - i.e. when someone calls and I answer, it takes 1-2 seconds for the other side to hear me.
Now I'm using Sandvold's ICS ROM and I'm generally happy with it. I've got the Call Delay Patch but it doesn't seem to be working.
Does anyone know of a working solution to this problem?
Thanks!
Do you have the call delay patch from the android market? and if you do then it might not be compatible with ICS

Yes, I do have the Call Delay Patch from the Market, like I explained above. It doesn't seem to be working, though.
Call Delay Patch works fine here [also using Sandvold's rom (version 0.4.2.1)]. Which version and kernel do you use? Performed full wipe?

Except for the camera preview, the roms works very well. I use it with stock hboot and tiamats-kernel and stock a2sd. Launcher is LauncherPro (switched to it because it's the smoothest for me). It works really nice. Yes, I got some black-screens or random reboots, but so rare, that I do not really care about it.
So I highly recommend to update to latest version!

Thanks, mate. I followed your advice and upgraded to the latest beta this morning. Still haven't had the chance to check the call delay, but the rest of the ROM is indeed much better than the previous version I used to have.

[Q] JB rom with working camera and video?

Ok, i already anticipate replies based on "use the damn search", ...please do us all a favor and don't clutter the thread with that kind of posts, try to max your posts number somewhere else :silly:
Anyhow, atm i have tried to install few JB roms on my HTC Desire GSM, the latest i have installed is JellyNow(btw: battery friendly), but still the same problems remain, the damn camera works but not so stable, often results in soft restart and when watching video as well(sometimes)
Is there a stable JB rom with camera and video working?
Please reply with posts where you can speak from your own experience, everything else is without arguments.
Thank you all in advance

Simple answer is NO.
There are Nikez and VJ's CM10.1, but the camera and video are choppy and tearing.

yup, i have stumbled upon this one a week or two ago, but i have read somewhere that its development has come to STOP, apparently lack of developers in their team....i am not sure if this is correct information.
Although i might give it a go, to see how it goes...all i need is daily driver, i am not that active user, because JellyNow can hold 2days, but it isn't usable any more, sometimes i cant answer a phone-call, because when ringing screen doesn't respond as it should, just showing incoming call, then it needs up to 5sec to start reacting....wierd.
Anyhow i am still in a hunt for a fine balanced rom....the problem is i am now addicted to JB stuff, beacuse it almost has it all i need within OS, so need for installing additional apps is minimum.
Tnx
I'm using jelly time and the camera and video work perfectly fine...I've been using this ROM for a good 3 months now...I will just add though that for some reason I can't find the camera now to use it lol but I think I disabled it cuz I never use it and would always accidentally open it....
I'm using jelly time R29,
I hope this helps you!

I'm still on Android 4.04 and thinking I should upgrade, but wondering which ROM I should try. Which one do you guys think is the best one at the moment for speed, stability and the least problems?
maybe it helps to you to make better choice. At the moment no maintainer on them.

lol everytime I ask I get a new one... good to know rootbox has wifi working, what about battery life?
thanks!
Different people had so many choice
All 4.2 use same kernel, IMHO similar battery life.
I toggle 3g, wifi and mobile internet only when I need, and 2 days like 60% with stock battery, when I use too much mostly a day or 2 the 100%.
You should backup and try all of them

I found PACRom v18 w/ patches to be fully working minus bluetooth headset and skype (audio).
I never had dropped calls, duplicate texts etc. which are some of the issues i'm having in stock ICS. Battery was great once I installed JuiceDefender Ultimate .. I haven't switched up to Rootbox 4.2.2 because I couldn't get GPS to lock.

What about wifi tethering? Bluetooth audio does not work at all?

I have been using Rootbox since late January. I mostly like it, but I keep having multiple texts and sometimes I get a "not receiving texts" issue until I totally wipe the phones caches, data and rom and reflash. Getting kind of annoying because it's about every 2-3 weeks or so I gotta reflash or clear to a total wipe to fix an issue. Probably related more to the kernel than the rom? I dunno. I am thinking about trying CM 10.1 or DMan's daily driver which I think is based off of 4.0.4? 4.2 is nice, but I need a phone that's a touch more stable and so does my gf. Her phone has the same issues as mine at varying intervals. Rootbox is really nice, it's the only modified ROM I have experience with on these phones. Shame the dev community is dwindled but they did excellent work thus far. If I could I would take over...but I am no programmer. I think I may end up back with stock GB eventually though I'd rather not. I like having my Nexus 7 and phones all on the same 4.2.2.

Bluetooth won't work for headset hands free .. it may work for music (link w/ car radio to play music).
wifi tethering works flawlessly.
torch doesn't work from toggles but installing flashlight app from store easily resolves.

Thanks. When I get this phone, I would like a rom that mimics Jelly Bean, since I have an Epic 4G finally on Cyanogenmod 10 and I'm already used to that. Looks like I'll have to try a few roms (I don't think Cyanogenmod will ever come to the Captivate Glide ), but I'll keep the one you mentioned in mind.
I finally installed AOKP. The only thing I found misbehaving is bluetooth car handsfree.
has anyone tried with this rom ?

Can you explain 'bluetooth car handsfree'?
I get bluetooth / headset. And I believe I get 'handsfree' - click the button on the headset and it answers the call, and click the button on the headset, speak who you want to call (voice dial), and it dials.
In this case, your car is your headset? (Speakerphone, happens to be mounted in the car?)
Any chance (hoping), that it works with a bluetooth headset, in which case it could be a device compatibility problem?
Or is it just handsfree bluetooth (period) is unhappy?

Known ROMs with working phone mic?

Are there any known 4.3 or 4.4 ROMs with working phone mic?
I've used CM 10.2 Stable (4.3) and Carbon Rom (4.4.2). Both work great, the only issue is that the headset is not usable for calls (low mic output). My solution for now is using the earbud/mic, but I'm curious to know if anyone has made progress on this. Aside from this, the various ROMs are near perfect for my needs.
I'm not very knowledgeable on the details of writing ROMs, but would any type of source code release from LG help developers solve this? Curious to know what the main hurdles are for the devs and what tools they need.
Thanks.
Wish I could tell ya but I don't have a headset with a mic. I'd say give AICP a try since it uses AOKP sources instead of CM. Might give ya a better outcome.

Still no luck on a solid working phone microphone (low volume on other end). And the search continues.
Now that mid March has come around, has anyone had any good luck with a working in call microphone?
I was previously using several 4.4.2 Builds however, the need for a working phone mic was too critical for daily usage.
I'm using a 4.3 build (Slim Bean) which I believe is the only one with a working phone. The build is an unofficial beta and the only real issues are lack of microSD function, FC on Google Drive, and a few freezes here and there. Overall it's usable for my needs but would like to get back onto 4.4.2 granted the phone mic works.
Any suggestions/advice would be great. Thanks!

Here is a manual fix for the in call mic from JustinNL on XDA:
Step 1:
download a "build.prop editor app", I used: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor
Step 2:
Modify these 2 specs in the build prop editor
persist.audio.handset.mic.type=digital --> replace digital with analog
persist.audio.dualmic.config=endfire -- replace endfire with false
Since i changed it i haven't had any complaints so far but flashing to new nightly makes it revert again, keep that in mind."
Been working great for myself and others.
