Aviate Launcher - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Just tried out the new launcher called Aviate - it's in the play store and you have to sign up to get a passcode to try it as its still in beta stage. Got my code this morning and so far it seems to work and is really nice and fluid. I'm always skeptical when it comes to launchers as many of them seem to suck the battery dry quick, but so far this one doesn't. I'm running it over CM 10.2 nightly 09-10-2013. So far everything is good! I'll post later after a bit more use.

Ty ill check it out

Using it for a day now. It's pretty cool! Acts a bit like Google now with automatic notifications. So far battery life had been pretty good. Liking it!

Very interesting! They claim it is intelligent and automatically adapts to your lifestyle. It also changes your home screens throughout the day.
I'm not going to use it at this time. They don't recommend it for people who want to customise their phone. Obviously, as it automatically rearranges everything for us.
Very interesting concept though. I'll subscribe to this thread to see how others take to it.

Yeah it is interesting and I'm still not completely sold on it but I do enjoy the layout.

XDA Premium HD

So, I just decided to install the tablet refined XDA Premium HD app and really all I can say is WOW, this app looks amazing and works great on the Gnex. It's like night and day using this as opposed to the regular XDA App or even the regular XDA Premium App.
Also, it's on sale for only 99cents right now on the Play Store.
Definitely recommend it to those of you that get your fix of XDA from your device more than on your PC most of the time.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/....xdapad.activity&feature=search_result#?t=W10.
I'll wait for a few more positive comments. App notoriously sucks from xda. Bought premium in the past, as you can see I don't use it.

I bought it a while ago for my N7. It force closes a lot, like every time you leave the app for a second and return. I wouldn't recommend it.

I think it may have updated since then because I have been using it constantly for over one solid day with not a single hiccup in how it runs let alone a force close.

I use it too. Much better than the premium, but still very closes more than I'd like. And downloading attachments is hit and miss, mostly miss. Still, it's better.

I've heard nothing but bad things about the premium app. The Premium HD as I've said is amazing though. Still, going on 2 days and not a single force close issue whatsoever.

Well I just re downloaded the app and... (see image)
Judging from reviews on the play store for both the N7 and Galaxy Nexus the app is broken and force closes more than occasionally. It's usable but if you're bugged by force closes I'd recommend Tapatalk.

I think these issues are device and rom specific, possibly even kernel specific depending on gov and clock settings. I have yet to encounter that popup while using XDA HD app in almost 2 days. I'm at my PC right now but for the majority of the weekend I have been only using my phone to view XDA and everything has worked perfectly smooth.
I'm using the xda premium app and it works fine. I'm presuming it's for tablets only?

I'm running 100% stock, odexed and rooted. So I doubt it is device, ROM or kernel specific. Try opening a forum then exiting the app for a minute then open the app and press the back softkey. Alternatively try the xda button at the top right instead of the back softkey.
Please let me know if you get a FC so I can try figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I am seriously in no way trying to mess with you but I really cannot recreate your force close issue. I've tried.
Thanks for trying anyways. Well there must be someone who can help. There's heaps of reviews on the Play Store about the FCs so looks like I'm not the only one.
Or maybe it's just a Nexus 7 thing?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I run XDA premium and premium HD on a nexus 7 and havent had a force close problem. I've run it on about 10 roms but I do completely clean installs and full wipes between Rom installs.
Just wanted to report that's its not force closing on mine.
It doesn't mean you don't have an issue or its not a freak conflict with who knows what, just reporting my experience in case its helpful.
I do have a minor issue where when I get a notification and click on it, it just sits loading for a long time. But I don't like notifications I discovered it purely on accident and didn't try to wait it out a really long time or address it, I ran across a thread that said they're working on that issue already.

Yes, use it now (Ulitmate) I have found nothing wrong personally. Mine's set for Data on with screen on, Data off screen off.. I don't have a schedule set or anything (i'm always off and on the phone anyway) does increase the battery life a bit.. Download, try it for a bit.. see what you think overall.
I did use it before, just the light version. it was indeed a battery extender. But now I am using ON(X).

Juice defender WILL help. I get about 24hrs to a charge. It simply disables data/location/wifi when not in use and can be customized to run different ways for different apps
-SlimBean...the bulimic's choice for the Galaxy III
Hope this helps. It's fully customizable and it does wonders. U can train it to learn your wifi and after a while, never touch the toggle again. Use it for games so they don't go online and pick up those annoying ads (if your unrooted). And u can schedule when the net comes on to get emails and so forth when your not touching you phone.

Been using Ultimate from the beginning and if set up correctly is the difference between night and day for battery life. It works very well with no problems whatsoever on my end.
+1 When setup properly it can save a lot of juice. Or turn data off when not needed it will save a little more than using JD. But I rather have JD running so things are seamless. For Streaming audio like Spotify I find setting for enable/screen off works the best.

Be honest and tell people you have an extended battery.
i got a small issue with JD ultimate:
i set it quite correctly i think, but then, it prevents datas from coming to my phone, even when they're enabled.
let me explain better:
i set it so datas are off when screen is off and on when screen is on.
so i turn my phone on, datas take smth like 5 to 10 seconds to enable, everything normal till here, then the small H or G appear meaning i'm connected through 3G, but even then, i'm still offline... i wait, and wait 5 mins, but still, the H or G is visible on top right of my screen but.. no data.
i disable juice defender, restart my phone, didn't solve.
then i uninstall it completely, restard my phone, and everything works fine again...
anyone could help me on this one?

Direction of Lifeless Rom

Hi All,
I'm about to release version 7 of the ROM; however, are there any other modifications people want on the ROM. Mods they saw in other posts that I can possibly implement?
Thanks,
I'm not sure if it has already been added, but I really want Google Now added. That is the biggest thing about JB that I miss
A themed rom would be sweet! It would definitely stand out. ICS dialer would be a great start. Also an optional zip to flash inverted apps.

I would like to see a inverted Gmail and Playstore option.
More AOSP-ness. Possibly a trebuchet launcher port?
A direct to recovery option is a must!

Goo manager will boot you into recovery if you want in the meantime.
A boot in recovery option as others have said would be nice im currently using a reboot recovery widget from ROM toolbox pro but it would still be nice.
Also adding the conversation skin mod to aroma would be a good edition

How to fix lag in 4.2.2 system wide.

I have stock gnex on takju, since 4.2.2 I have suffered from lag all over the place, the lag could be fixed by restarting the phone but it would eventually come back.
I have only 300MB of data plan and I noticed that Facebook and facebook messenger where using about 50MB a month on the background without any user interaction and just a couple of days ago I started seeing Facebook app as the second most battery using app just behind screen on, this made me uninstall Facebook and and I instantly saw performance go up all over the place, it was night and day comparison, my phone feels like new and the buttery effect is back.
Now I installed Facebook back just to test and it indeed is the reason for my lag but this time I used greenifyed it and it fixed the lag too.
So there you go, hope this helps

Does matter. I disabled background data (as opposed to removing the app entirely) on Facebook and have noticed substantial speed improvement instantly. The only place you can do it, that I'm aware of, is from the mobile data screen when checking the apps usage.

There are two places to disable notification from Facebook on mobile.
The first would be to go into the settings by clicking on the 3 point button just right of the multitasking navigation key, then disabling notifications.
Second, by clicking on the top left corner button inside the Facebook app, then clicking on privacy settings --> notifications---> mobile push--> uncheck all
Sometimes I think Facebook deliberately tries to complicate the notification settings so as to keep pushing themselves on our faces!

I've had luck with disabling auto-rotation for some reason. Caused SystemUI to lag after time. Hopefully it'll be patched in 4.3.

My MIUI experience. Pros/Cons

Well, I brought myself to removing my CM10.2 and trying the MIUI ROM. It was a very slick, very smooth ROM. I overall enjoyed it. But with it being a ROM of course it had a few minor bugs. And I did have a few dislikes. So I'm gonna list a few things I personally noticed about it. Fell free to post your thoughts and any resolutions to anything I'm gonna lay out.
PROS:
-a smooth, soft feeling touch that was full of color and a very nice setup. The was miui was set up in settings for example was on of a kind. I was not disappointed. The theme app that was there gave me full control of changing the status bar, lock screen, home screen, etc. You have full control of customization. WiFi also seemed to work just fine.
CONS:
- Sadly, my LTE didn't appear to work. I tried adjusting my setting to fix it. No avail and that kinda was frustrating. But with WiFi working it didn't pose to much of a issue. I also experienced to apps for my gallery, and I was unable to delete it because it was a system app. Some of the themes I downloaded froze my phone, causing me to remove my battery and restart my phone. I wasn't bothered by it to much, I'm rather used to having to do that with previous phone.
Over all if you like a fresh and fast ROM you will love MIUI. But with these few issues I went back to cm. As I need my LTE cause my phone is also a work phone and I need the fastest internet I can get. So feel free to post your thoughts on MIUI and any fixes. Because I would like to switch back and continue using MIUI.

LTE works you just have to select it in settings when you first flash the rom because it doesn't default on. Reason there are 2 galleries is because MIUI has its own gallery and since we have to use 4.2 camera it comes with its only gallery also hide one in a folder if you dont like one. And theme issue I've never experienced this

I love the visual development compared to all other ROM.
Looks great.. but I'm still in love with AOSP.
Right out of the box, I think MIUI looks a lot like ios . Maybe too much.
It is a great ROM though, and very user-friendly.
Could I see a screen shot of the phone? Keypad, in call. These are things people over look, but this is our phone is it not? For most if not everyone on here, the only phone they use.
