So I just bought a Tmo s4 and rooted my device. After installing the latest TWRP, I have tried installing PAC ROM and Slimbean but my lte doesn't work on either ROM. If I flash back to stock it works fine. I tried adding the APN settings just in case I missed something but to no avail. I went into the dialer and used *#*#4636#*#* and changed the network to lte only and I lost signal completely. Anyone having similar issues or a fix?
Thanks

The model is SGH-M919. I'll try the one that you mentioned.
Did you actually test the speed and confirm you didn't have lte? Most aosp roms don't show the lte symbol.
I didn't test the speed but I did try another rom, Virgin ROM and it displays the LTE symbol fine now. Thanks for the help guys!

You're doomed bro. Turn back immediately.
Should be fine as long as you dont change your modem. I suggest you use mobile odin and unselect the modem. I did this with my t999v wind mobile and its fine.
I asked the same question with similar responses. But could those that had success maybe give a bit more detail on how they managed to odin the TMO stock? It passes the md5 but then fails when flashing, I have flashed numerous times in odin with no problem. Maybe an obvious requirement I am not aware of (stock recovery stock download or some such thing)
Thanks for the answer. I have another question. Before I turn to Frosty, my mobile network was only 3G and H+ but now with frosty, its only the 4G icon. So with frosty im on real 4g or its only a "fake" icon?

T-Mobile has no real 4g. Some roms are coded to just show E and 4g for 3g, H, and H+, while other roms break it down more

I recently got a LTE sim card, and an LTE data plan with Fido. 4G worked for about 5 seconds (I even did a speed test) and then now it's permanently on H+.
APN is set to LTEmobile.APN but when I change to Network Mode LTE/GSM, my signal goes blank and stays like that until I go back to GSM/WCDMA, which doesn't make any sense.
I'm using Task's 10/28 Build, which is the only build that doesn't have black screen unlock.
I tried updating to his latest 4.2 but LTE still didn't work.
Any ideas on what is wrong?

did you not read what he said? He has an LTE sim card. To the OP try a google search and see if there are any different apn's. Its not rom related because task650 gets LTE speeds with his rom. Or if your phone is unlocked and you know someone else that has the same phone or LTE sim card pop it in and try it out

Some ROMs have incorrect Fido/Rogers APN settings; I'd go over what's in the ltemobile.apn settings and compare it to a known good set (such as the ones in the stock ROM).
Soft bricked my phone by going back to rooted stock ROM through Odin. Guessing I should have formated system. Anyways fixed it up. Got lte working on rooted stock. Then when to miui no lte. Read that lte is a problem with many on this ROM so I lose. Hope I can get it working eventually when off stock.

Carriers use different labels for H+/LTE - ROMs differ in how they interpret the actual signal speed.
Some ROMs accurately reflect the network speed, some don't.
Some carriers promote/sell speeds that they cannot provide in every area.
There are many possible explanations as to why you are experiencing this.
You should provide your ROM, carrier, APN settings, network speedtest results, etc. for more in-depth answers.
I have a Galaxy S III from AT&T. I got it unlocked and activated on T-Mobile last month.
Now, I went a month on AT&T roms, but recently I flashed SlimBean, which is dual carrier. My phone immediately connected to LTE! Never had I seen LTE on TM's network on this phone before, so I take that to mean I need to run T-Mobile ROMs to get LTE service.
So just now I tried to flash BeanStalk for d2tmo, but it won't let me install it because, of course, it's not made for this phone. From what I have read, though, it should work fine on my phone. How do I override this failsafe so I can run T-Mobile roms on my AT&T gs3?
"You do this with 7-Zip/WinRAR
Note: DO NOT EXTRACT ROM!
Open the zip file, do not extract, go to:
/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script
1)Open updater-script with a script editor such as notepad/notepad++ (makes things 10x easier), or gedit if you use linux
2)Delete the first line of code (all the way up to the first semicolon you see) and delete the first semi-colon as well
Do not go past the first semiclon when deleteing and DO NOT forget to delete the first semicolon."
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You'll want to delete the highlighted text in the updater-script, then save it. You shouldn't run into anymore problems or errors when flashing the ROM.

And the Rom won't give you LTE. Most T999 roms will show 4g, but look in settings for your true connection. You probably had it all along.

Well I had LTE / GSM / WCDMA selected in the settings on CyanogenMod for the I747 and it wasn't connecting to LTE. Only HSPA+. So either it's the ROM, or T-Mobile launched their LTE network here at the same time I flashed SlimBean.
I'm running stock i747 and I get Lte all over Chicagoland. I'm rooted now, but I got it before I rooted too. I'm using the stock 4.1.1 that came with the phone, picked it up for $180 a few days ago...Wow this thing is awesome.
Thinking about going with Dandroid tomorrow...still deciding att or T-Mobile version.

Please do let me know! When I was running the AT&T roms, I had "Simple Mobile", "StraightTalk", and "T-Mobile". I tested and all of them worked, but just connected to HSPA+.
Now that I've installed a T-Mobile rom I am also getting "Solavei" and "T-Mobile LTE." When I select T-Mobile LTE, my phone connects to the LTE network. When I have the regular T-Mobile option selected it doesn't connect to data at all.
EDIT: I am testing again, and I actually can connect to HSPA+ on the regular T-Mobile APN. Let me walk around and see if I can make it connect to LTE. Then I'm going to flash an AT&T rom and try to get it to connect to the LTE network by manually adding the APN. I'll let you know how it goes.
Can the APNs determine what type of network you connect to?
I'm just curious what APN settings you're using to connect to LTE on the AT&T rom.
Okay, here's another update as the result of some testing with my T-Mobile rom:
When I switch to the "T-Mobile US" (no LTE) APN, I noticed that my data cut in and out sort of randomly. I speculate that the reason for this is because it was trying to connect to the LTE network but couldn't get data on it because my APN was set incorrectly. This is what confused be before. I switched the data mode to GSM / WCDMA preferred and it immediately connected to data, and was consistent.
So I think if I just add the T-Mobile US LTE APN to an AT&T rom, it should connect to LTE properly?
A long time ago when I was just on the T-Mobile US APN on an AT&T rom, it was doing the same thing with being inconsistent with the data connection until I disabled LTE so it stopped trying to connect. I'll take the fact that it tried to connect but couldn't as enough evidence that it knows how, it just needs the APN.
Yay figuring things out! Sorry if my words are confusing or I maybe I should have made a new thread for this. I'm new here, and I'm not sure how this kind of things work.
Thanks for the help in figuring that out!
Sorry about the sidetrack, I'll work on getting 4.3 next, and let you know how that goes.

I used to work for t-mobile and that's the LTE APN...
check on their website the LTE coverage areas around you.
Make a backup of your device and attempt a factory reset.
there were some devices I worked with that the factory reset worked like a magic trick.

I can't really do a factory reset, as I am currently running CM11 and I was previously on ATT. My friend on Tmobile get's LTE coverage here so I would assume I would be capable of that as well. Or at least get 3g coverage.

Hmmm, ok. I have the second to most recent CWM and I reflashed to CM11 again just this morning. Still don't have access.
Hi I seem to have a problem getting LTE. I'm using a galaxy s3 i747m on Fido and I'm using stock Rogers ROM. I have a problem with LTE. I used to get it everywhere most of the time but it now only works once in a while. When I do finally get LTE it only works 30% of the time. I have full signal LTE but it doesn't load any webpages or anything. Once and a while it does though. I have tried bootloaders, modems, different Roms and I can seem to solve this problem. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Thanks. I need my stable LTE back.

By modems do you mean basebands?
Have you look into your Access Point settings and preferred network type?
Yes by modems I mean basebands. My network type is LTE,3g, 2g. My APN is right. I can get LTE but when I do nothing loads at all. I have tried different Roms, different modems, different kernels and nothing seems to work. I did have LTE that worked before though.

When did it stop working? Do you remember what was done to the phone?
If nothing particular was done before that happened, you might wanna give Fido a call so they can check your connectivity and perhaps get a new sim card.
Well it stopped once flashed aokp ROM. I have a cut some card so that could be the cause unfortunately. I'll try a new simcard and see if that fixes it. I might also try flashing back to complete stock but I'm not too sure if that would help at all. I remember having LTE as soon as I turned it on and now it never turns on.

I have literally tried everything lol. I think it has something to do with our phones picking up the wrong signal. I live in Mississauga Ontario and I get LTE in the middle of the city but it doesn't connect at all. All it does is take forever to load a page and times out.

So I fixed the issue. I added another APN to my settings. So I have two ltemobile.apn for fido. I turned off the phone removed the sim. Turned the phone back on without the sim and entered service mode *#2263# and I put it to LTE all in the settings. I then turned the phone off and turned it back on with the sim and lte is working and my speeds are back. After that was all done I entered back to service mode *#2263# and put the network back to automatic all and now the phone automatically connects to LTE when I want it to.
