hi does this work on stock phones too would love to get the volume higher too work in a nosiy area and hard to hear the phone ring sometimes
If you think this phone's speaker is to low, try using an HTC phone! Their speakers are pathetic!

This phone has great speaker volume ! if you think this is bad, the HTC Sensation must permanently be speaker less in your possession
I came from the sensation and the speaker was pathetic. GS2 blows it. Although i would still like it louder lol

Any updates on this? Maybe using service mode? I can get into service mode with *#*#197328640#*#* but I cant make any changes that do anything (actually one time I made it so speaker or handset did not work at all but a restart fixed it).

Try louder volume hack or volume + from the market. Just be warned you can eff up the speaker permanently by altering the stock levels. Then you will be even happier with a blown mobile speaker lol.
I found this in the international note 2 forum. Works very well on our at&t version. I didn't write this, just reposting.

I flashed this the other day and noticed crackling in my incoming calls, I knocked the in call volume two clicks down and it went away. I think its pushing the speaker to hard. But sometimesbthe crackling is worth it to hear the call if you are outside or in a noisy area. Anyone else who flashed this noticed anything.

I too found the sound so loud it crackled! Reverted to stock today. May try to follow the OP and edit it to 55 or so. Loved the louder notifications, but the ringtone and music was way to loud!

Thanks for posting this here! I only normally stay in the at&t note 2 threads. So I never would have known about this and I've been looking for something that would boost the sound of Music through my headphones. Thanks alot! Exactly what I was looking for

I can help modify any setting within your phone to make it individual values louder..like incall, headphone.loud speaker..or make them combined within that config file ...pm me or I'll make a thread of different config files.. maybe I should make a thread to help?
That would be great.

So.. I don't mean to sound like a troll at all, so please don't take it this way... Just a serious question...
When you are on a call... You can use the volume rocker to lower your in call volume. Have you tried that?
Also, rooting in and of itself shouldn't cause any changes to the phone other than granting super user privileges.
Sent from my Galaxy S3 on AT&T
Another option would be do a factory reset and see what that does for you.

First thing I thought of too. Why not just lower the volume?

As the title says. I listen to music when I try to go to sleep, and at my lowest volume, it's still too loud. I couldn't find any info on how to lower it further, but that might be just because I put in the wrong keywords. Any info on how to lower it?

Try a music player like PowerAmp. It has it's own dedicated volume slider which you can use to lower it further.
It's easier to click "thanks" than type it.
What rom are you using? Because if i had to guess the rom probably has the volume boost mod/edit pre installed.

then you just rooted, you didnt flash any custom roms. which means you dont have the audio mod. The S4 is naturally that loud then. im guessing you can do the opposite of what the audio mod does, and instead of increasing the max volume, you decrease it. theres a tutorial somewhere on the forum on what file to edit on your phone. search for it, follow it, and instead of increasing the number, lower it

Volume boost is noticeable on F240l on g2v5 ROM but the speakers during phone call stopped working. Once I removed the mod and replaced with the original file I backed up earlier, the speaker phone started working again.
Backup the file snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 in system/etc/snd_soc_msm before install.
