Does anyone have scratches on the screen. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Any one of you guys uses screen protectors . I always use one but hate the orange peel effect and cheap one going dull after a week. i have zagg. And now ghost armor on the screen. Does any who does not have screen protector and yet screen is not scratched?

I've had my phone over a year and a half...no screen protector. But I do have a seidio hard case and holster. I do construction and drop it and use it with dirty hands a lot. I have like maybe 2 tiny scratches. But nothing that shows up when the screen is lit up.
I think its not easy to scratch these. Maybe bare in a pocket with other stuff or a purse maybe....but that's just asking for scratches.

I've had the phone for 8 months and have dropped it on cobblestone and gravel - both times fearing the worst after the phone's ending position has been face down. No noticeable scratches on the screen. The cobblestone drop was in part cushioned by my foot, but the gravel drop yielded some serious dents on the shiny frame. I'm glad to see the phone is handling abuse this well.
I'm generally not a fan of covering up a phone I've bought with bulky (or not so bulky) cases and covers. I've yet to see one of those making the phone look better.

I've had my s2 for over a year without a case or screen protector and I only got 1 tiny scratch up by the clock and is not noticeable with screen on and also I took a really fine grit sandpaper for plastic and sanded the shiny trim off my phone so its all black and nice and smooth and it really looks a lot better!

For me, in my job....I could care less how my phone looks....I need it to not break! LOL
Big bulky hard case and holster all the way! I think it looked good anyway....tho case is scratched to crap now.
Not shelling out for a new one while I'm on contact ....been there done that.

I heard our phone are not gorilla glass just some reinforced glass. The international version are indeed gorilla glass, tmo cut corners on our phone . They said s3(dead) is gorilla glass and ive got scratches on it after about a month owning it. the s2 is my phone untill contract is over.

I've had a habit of putting my lighter or some change in the same pocket as my phone, and in the past it's scratched my phones all to hell. Not an issue with the s2.

I've got scratches on my back since last weekend . Can't remember how I got them there. Hmmmmm
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989

Gorilla glass, or whatever glass on the phones don't help with scratch resistance.
It's all about direct impact resistance so the screen doesn't break as soon as you tap on it really hard.
All screens get scratched but it is a matter of noticing them. The only way to prevent them is with a wet applied protector as static clings probably do micro abrasions and whatnot that no one notices without a strong light.

Had my phone about 2 years now. The silver band around the rim is chipped and scratched at the corners. However, the screen itself is still completely clean without any marks.

i have used ghost armor for almost 2 years, had it replaced for 5 bucks twice, works great

Had screen protector for about a year took it off no scratches. Don't think u need a screen protector at all for this phone
However my bezels are completely ****ed lol

Minor
Have had my gs2 since it came out and I have one minor nic on the screen, i've dropped it about 20 times atleast, use to be the ARMY so i'd take it to the field and jump out of planes with it, has been a great phone would really love xperia z but to broke to get one, you know how it is.
82nd 2/325AIR case anyone knows

for those without protectors/cases put your phones under a bright light, what bothers me are the micro scratches LOL

screen protector
I use zagg mostly for non-smudging. No problems with scratches.

ive always used screen protectors, and once I change it after a few months.....crystal clear again. I have a bad habit of puting change and keys in my pocket with my phone but no scratches what so ever.

I've had this thing since release and only a few tiny scratches from going to the beach. Never has a screen protector. Only a d30 case from T-Mobile.

I do not use a screen protector. I have had this T989 since last February, and I have no noticeable scratches, although it is rarely in a pocket with anything else, and has only been dropped when wearing a heavy case. Luckily.

I've always used a big bulky otterbox like case...seidio...with holster.....and tonnes of 6 foot and less drops....no damage. Just the bezel, from the case. No screen protector ever.
Plan on getting the N4 soon tho....it'll have the toughest case I can find! Lol

[Poll] Do you have a scratched screen?

I've seen a number of threads about the screen scratch issues, but i am struggling to work out the proportion of people suffering from it.
Does your Galaxy Nexus have any screen scratches?
If you don't have a scratched screen and can post to say if you take any special care with it (like keeping it on a pouch, screen protector etc...)
I have 2 deep scratches.
They are the length of the diameter of the circle exposing the front facing camera.
They're probably from sand that I was around when on holiday.
I highly doubt I would have any noticeable scratches if I didn't expose it to sand.
I was going to return it to the store I bought it from and tell them there was something wrong with it so they'd give me a new clean one, but I'm okay with it now and I returned to the UK 3 days after the 28 day return/exchange policy so I couldn't do anything anyway.
Anyone know any way I could easily mask these scratches? They're on the left bezel so they don't interfere with the screen but I'd like to mask them anyway.
No scratch, no screen protector (hate those things).
just put on a cheap ebay screen protector and you'll be set
nothing to make a big fuss about for some scratches when it can be easily prevented with a $2 screen protector
even Gorilla grass gets scratches too
Have you found your screen protector has stayed on correctly? From my past experience they seem to start peeling from the corners.
I really want a Galaxy Nexus, but I know my OCD will really get to me if I get a scratch on the screen.
My phones with Gorilla Glass have never had any scratches whatsoever. This is my third phone too. I carry it either in my pocket or man purse lol

I doubt that. I've been using my sgs+ for 4 months and not a single scratch. My phone has been exposed to sand, dirt, even keys but no scatches

I've had a few minor scratches in the bottom left corner of the screen due to the dropping it a month ago. Now, I've got 3 more, quite visible scratches on the screen. Despite the fact I dropped it once, I take care of my Nexie. I keep it in my pocket, without the keys. I don't have screen protector nor the case, pouch. My girlfriend who's got Desire S(no screen protector) has got no scratches on the screen, even though she keeps it in her purse.

Gorilla glass is still just glass, its not magic, it can be easily scratched by something harder than glass. take a bit of sand and rub it on it and you will have a scratch.
I just got a small gouge in my screen, not even 1mm wide, near the middle some time yesterday. It's more of a chunk, then a scratch. Reminds me of a minor impact. My phone is in a holster, never my pocket. I was working on my car, and may have touched the screen with a less than clean hand that led to the scratch. About 1 week after the phone I got a small scratch near the top of the phone, out of the visible area.
I have a stenheil / sgpstore Oleophobic on the way. i was holding out for a Ultra Crystal by stenheil (best screen protectors ever made hands down IMHO) but it doesn't seem like they're going to make a crystal for the gnex due to the curved screen :-(

LOL! sorry its just you said you have a phone holster when your pocket is mere inches away.
anyway no screen protector but got scurve case for it, also have it in my pocket with nothing in it but a micro-fiber cloth because that's just how I roll. Also always leave it face down on a clean surface. (curved screen so screen doesn't touch the surface woohoo!!!!)
No scratches only had mine for a week though, no screen protector and just in a TPC case.
I have had my fascinate for a year with no scratches and plan to use Nexus same. Hopefully it stays scratch free.
I always keep it in my right front pocket, where nothing else ever goes in there.
Just sat on my nexus and ruined my... screen protector! Thank god... this would have definitely ruined my screen.

No scratches yet
I've had mine for 2 weeks now. Thankfully, no scratches yet. I was really worried about the glass on the Nexus with some of the forum threads I had come across. I was coming from an OG with Gorilla Glass.
So far, in 2 weeks of use (treated the same way as my OG Droid) I don't see even the slightest of scratches. I also love the oleophobic coating on the glass. It really does.wonders.
In comparison, my OG had a big scratch on the screen in the first 2 weeks of owning it, and it almost got me to switch to a screen protector. Not that it means that the glass on the OG was worse, but rather, that these things are all luck related. I'm sure that over 2 years of use, my SGN will also have scratches, just like my Droid did.
Gorilla glass/ reinforced glass is not magic. If you're unlucky, either can get scratched in a heartbeat, no matter how careful you are with your phone.
No screen protector and I have scratches on my screen.
I have some micro scratches on it from day 1 before i was able to apply a screen protector. Seems like the glass is not as hard as my old iPhone 4 where i used it w/o protector for over a week and it seems fine.

Believe it. My old G2x had 2 scratches on it. Luckily I had it replaced when an update bricked it. First phone with a Gorilla screen and the only phone that got scratches. Sand and dust are destructive on them. Knives and keys... not so much.
This time I put a screen protector on. XO for me... and a case. No chances.

So, are there any methods of masking scratches after they appear?

Has anyone else noticed scratches appearing on their GS3 screen?

I just got my phone a month ago and I take very good care of it. In fact my old Nexus S which I had for 10 months with no screen protector doesn't have any scratches on the screen. And it's worth pointing out that the Nexus S doesn't even use Gorilla Glass, let alone the Gorilla Glass 2 that's in the GS3.
I have noticed a series of fine scratches appearing near the bottom of the display. A friend of mine from Ottawa also got an S3 about 3 weeks ago and he also mentioned he has scratches on his screen and he has no idea how they got there.
The body of the phone is also quite soft, and the other week I accidentally dropped it on my wooden patio deck and it dented the edge of the phone on the lower right side, exposing the black plastic under the pearl-blue finish.
Could this be a manufacturing issue and/or defective Corning Glass? Samsung has noted they have received a higher than anticipated return of S3's since the launch. Please post your feedback so far with the Galaxy S3.
I should note that I absolutely love this phone, and it performs incredibly at everything else it does. No complaints at all, except of course my issues with the screen. I'll be taking it in to a Samsung Service center in the GTA in the coming week or two to get a full analysis.
Note: I've attached 2 images of the scratches on my display.
I have a screen prot. on mine since I bought it, so no idea how it is without it. my camera glass or whatever has two very fine scratches on it though. And I baby this thing like crazy. Usually have it in a pocket and with nothing with it.

I got some very fine micro abrasions on my screen before I put a screen protector on it (only took about 3 days for that to happen). Despite the fact that this is gorilla glass I think a screen protector is essential.
Nope mine is still pristine. I never put it in a pocket with anything that has enough hardness to scratch it. My zippo, keys, loose change, etc... Its always either by its self or with my leather wallet at most.
Yup, I have some very tiny scratches I didn't even know were there until I was using my phone in sunlight. I'm pretty amazed how they even got their considering I baby the phone like mad. I think Gorrila Glass 2 is just better at hiding scratches.

i dont get how people that have a top of the line 800$ phone don't buy a simple 2$ screen protector. Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, but anything harder or equal hardness will scratche the screen. Sand which is made of fine glass particles will scratch the phone in your pocket and thos tiny particles are practically everywhere. If you dont have a screen protector, i hope you have gotten your lesson.

Those scratches are pretty visible. Defective screen, perhaps? Either that or you had some majorly sharp sand particles in your pocket and applied significant pressure to them against the glass.
I've had mine for >1 month now. I keep it in my pocket with keys and occasionally coins, and not a single scratch on the glass surface. However, I do have a metric ton of scratches on the plastic back cover! Gorilla glass can take a beating as long as the items that are rubbing against it aren't some sort of crystal (think quartz in sand) or some sort of extremely tough metal (think tungsten).
Edit: derp, forgot to mention that I don't use screen protectors or cases on my phones.

I'm aware the phone is not scratch proof, I've owned a number of android and iOS devices. This is the first time however, I've seen scratches appear out of nowhere. None of my other devices used a screen-protector and none of them scratched, that goes for a Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, iPhone 4, and iPad v1.0.
Apparently the screen of the GS3 is very sensitive to scratches and necessitates getting a screen-protector. This will be the first phone I've had to get one for.
You should need to use sand or a similar substance to scratch gorilla glass. My sg3 looks mint, and I have never used any sort of protector on it - and I have it in my pocket with my keys sometimes.

I remember when Gorrilla Glass was new on phones and people were doing scratch tests. I was bold enough to do one on my Galaxy S - I tried to scratch the screen up with my keys. Never got a single scratch.
The Galaxy S3 on the hand, I don't know what's wrong with it lol. It must be really prone to scratches as I can't even recall a single time a relatively sharp object has even been near the screen.
Damn, those are some deep scratches considering you have no idea how they got there. I've only got the SGSII & I put a zagg on it the 1St day I got it & I have 2 case mate cases, 4 tpu case in various Vol, two aluminium back case things & 3 bumpers, 2 plastic/rubber the other metal. Over my 2 year contract this fone will end up,costing me around 2k, so your damn skippy Ima protect it better than my child.

No issues. Naked but carried in a belt case. I don't put out in my pocket to avoid sand or other debris.
I am having micro abrasion issues as well. First Gorilla Glass phone I have had this issue with, previously my HOX, Gnote,,sgs hercules,Optimus LTE, SGS2, Razr, atrix etc have never had this problem. I m inclined to to think it is a first run manufacturing problem on the new process, or that Gorilla Glass 2 is prone to micro abrasions.
As for the the blah blah blah buy a screen protector rants, the reason i buy 800$ phones is to be able to touch the screen and have the best interface experience, if i wanted a dampened plastic screen and refracted light i wouldnt buy the newest phones out there. If it meets your needs, awesome, but not all of us are looking for the same experience, so please refrain from the obvious.
Don't get a screen protector, get a nice rubber skin, I got a $5 one from amazon, dropped twice on pavement from 5+ ft, and no marks anywhere.
Screen protectors compromise screen sensitivity (noticeable if you use a stylus) and don't protect the rest of your phone.

Well there was a huge argument on whether note has a gorilla glass or not but one thing was clear it had a pretty good scratch resistant glass that said and done no glass is fully scratch resistant and hence precaution is better then cure.
For the cost of a skin/protector its really no contest .
Aids resale value as well .
SGS 1 and 2 covered and sold for a good price .
Screen protector has already saved SGS3 from scratches after dropping on gravel .

I got a small scratch on mine the first week I had it. Some kind of microscopic bit of grit got on the screen and the pen picked it up while I was drawing. I felt it happen and stopped before it became a big scratch. Now I have a screen protector. The glass is NOT scratch proof. You might luck out and never get a scratch, but don't be fooled into thinking it can't happen.

I've put a matte screen protector on mine not to protect it from scratches but to reduce the smudges and fingerprints on the screen. It also helps reduce the slippery feeling when drawing or writing on the screen, but that's just me.

I'm curious - does the s-pen leave behind marks on the matte protector? Or does it depend on which tip you use? I recently ordered some matte protectors because I liked the feeling of my s pen on my phone screen (which has a matte protector) but it left behind some marks that i had to wipe away with my fingers. Also, I would assume that matte protectors are slightly abrasive, which would cause the tip to wear out much faster? Any thoughts?

Hi all, would like to share my thoughts. Been using both sgp screen protector before: cystal clear & matt.
am using black rubber tip but both sp are way too rough. Decided to go naked on the screen and its really comfortable on spen for both tips now.
While using white tips, both sp works smooth and fine but it just doest feel as good as naked.
Tried a screen protector, no good - bubbles and dust everywhere. Much better to get a good quality cover/case I think.
I'm currently using the stock Samsung sleeve. No screen protector. No scratches or issue.
Mmm im glad i put a screen protector on. One time i put imy gn10.1 on top of a mattress(my sisters room was being remodeled) and i wanted to keep it away from the puppy so i put it up there. The mattress was up against the wall behind the coach btw, I know im not the smartest when it comes to common sense haha. Anyways for somereason it fell and i nearly had a panic attack. Apparently there was like a metal heater thing underneath it with sharp metal edges. So when i picked it up it cut right throught the protector and pulled it back leaving some of the screen exposed. I havent changed rhe protector yet but i could only imagine that if i didnt have one on thered be a huge deep scratch and the screen would be useless . Ive never actually cut through a screen protector before... only slight scratch marks. Its one of those thick ones too(zaggs?)
But its good to note that im careless with my electronics so a screen protector is a must. Ive already dropped my gn2 like 3 times in 3 weeks... sad i know. But i guess if u dont seem to drop ur electronics all that often then there really isnt a huge risk. And i dont mind having a screen protector on, to me ive just gotten used to it like nothing is there. And on my samsung infuse 4g i dropped it probably 200+ times not even kidding. never once scratched the screen(although i made a big dent on the edges). I just swear by protectors . However its also probably good to note that i think the water damage(3 times revived), shock from all those drops, etc is what damaged my infuse.... it was barely working when i traded it in for my gn2 after 20mo?. So now i use a case too with my gn2 haha....
Actually screen protectors always give me a peace of mind. After dropping my infuse several hundred times i knew everything would be okay and the screen wont get damaged.
So i thought that i should share my experience what could happen if u dont use a screen protector. .
Bare naked screen looks new but I can't say the plastic does... Scratched and dented.

Anyone got scratches on their screen WITHOUT protector?

Hey guys.
I bought around 4-5 cases for my HTC one so far. but in the end, NOTHING beats the HTC one naked in your hand, so i bought an invisibleshield protector for it .
But i dont like the screen protector. so im wondering, people using the phone with no screen protector, have you got any scratches on it? or does the Gorilla glass really work?
It works to a certain extent. Gorilla Glass is rated about 5-6H hardness. That will save you from most metals. Sand/stones will definitely scratch the glass as they can contain Quartz, which is 7H. Glas.t is rated for 8-9H so even those won't scratch it.
No scratches on mine so far. Like the poster above said, just watch out for certain sand/minerals cause they are hard enough to scratch the screen.
My last phone had GG as well, dont remember if it was 1 or 2, but it had a bunch of tiny scratches in one spot, turns out it was my earring (which is made of quartz) scratching it every time i used it.
So now I only answer my phone with my right hand lol, since my left ear is pierced.
I got mine about a month ago, and I still didnt get a screen protector..

Actually, keys cant scratch your screen. The metals they're made of are too soft compared to GG.
Its sand and rocks that will scratch up your phone if they ever find a way into your pockets. in other words.. better be careful at the beach.
They get into your pocket anyway, even some particals of dirt on flooring at hard enough to cause scratches. When I get my one ill probably get the glas screen protectors and take off after a month or 2

I'm not too sure as to how I got my scratches either but I do have two on the screen. I usually keep my phone in it's own pocket or at most it would be with my car key fob which shouldn't scratch it.. But otherwise I think it's just from normal use, maybe some sand or something. Thinking about jumping on the Glas.tr protector though.
It might well be alright without a protector; the glass is certainly quite resilient, and what others say is quite true-- short of sand, quartz, and other hard minerals, you're usually good to go. My problem is just that you never know when that kind of muck get get into your pocket, or onto a table, or anywhere. More importantly for me is keeping the screen clean from fingerprints and other gunk, so I picked up a matte screen protector just now and I am incredibly pleased with it.
I previously tried a Spiegen SGP UltraCrystal, but although it was unbelievably clear (indeed, many people who handled the phone were astonished to learn that there was a screen protector on the device at all), it picked up fingerprints like nobody's business. I was quite disappointed, especially after the huge success of my Armorsuit Militaryshield for my Galaxy Nexus. But matte is definitely the way to go.
Spigen makes a nice screen cover that's glass itself haven't tried it personally but about ready to.

I used some Matte protectors off ebay , but they were crap, they took away all the qaulity of the screen. I personally do prefer matte ones, but cant find any decent ones.
bought this one, if its german it must be good lol.

Got a small scratch on the top right part of the screen. Noticed it after 6 days of use with a tpu case and no screen protector. But I don't like screen protectors, got myself a spigen leather flip case which protects the screen when I kept my phone in pocket. Looking for a spigen glast, as I can't get it right away from US.

It'll get stratches which CANT BE seen by naked eye, only when exposed to direct light. So if you are okay with it don't use protector.

What's the point of a screen protector?

I thought gorilla glass was supposed to be so strong?
Unless you're keying your screen, why need one? It makes it look dimmer, and they look ugly.

Yeah, I never understand it either. You buy a phone with a nice-ass screen and cover it up with some cheap plastic. Almost 2 years, my S4 is still looking good without any screen protectors.

Not to mention air bubbles, they get discolored after a while, you can't enjoy the screen quality, and I looked it up. Apprarently Gorilla glass can get scratched by a steel file, but nothing less.
Basically, unless you're carryimg around an iron file in your pockets, and putting your phone with it, you're good.
And yes, knives, and keys can scratch your screen, but you have to go out of your way to scratch it. It won't scratch if in contact like your pockets or something.
The only real risk of screen damage (realistically I'm real life settings) is dropping it. A screen protector isn't saving that. And if you work construction, a screen protector ain't saving your screen from what ever a gonna damage it on the site.

I must admit there is a small scratch on the screen, visible at a certain angle with the screen off, but I don't look at my phone at that angle or with the screen off.
I've had a screen protector and Commuter series Otterbox case on mine since day one. I've only had to change the screen protector like 3 times in almost two years, and that's only because they started losing their resistance to fingerprints. I've never had any problems with air bubbles or screen dimming because I didn't buy el cheapo screen protectors, but they weren't expensive either.
After all this time, I can take off the case and screen protector and my S4 still looks like it did the day I bought it.
It's a small price to pay for keeping your phone in great condition. No doubt the next owner will appreciate it when I decide to upgrade.

Strong and scratch resistant...not scratch-proof...big difference.
A good case can protect the screen from taking a skid across concrete just as well though.
I hear spider web makes a great screen protector.
Pp. Lol

This.
Scratching can be done with less than a steel file.
I keep my phone in my front pocket and the only other thing that is ever in that pocket is paper money. Nothing else ever goes in that pocket.
I have 2 small scratches after 18 months. Neither visible when the screen is on...but there none the less. Best I can figure is they are from the metal rivets in my jeans.
A screen protector would have prevented that. But would have also lowered the quality of the screen in the mean time. Its a trade off. And each person has to decide which is more important to them.

Been putting my phone in various pockets for the longest time, and absolutely no scratches. I don't know what you guys are doing to your phones. That sucks.

Phone case is a different story. Need one. Screen protector, I don't get. I got one with my case, and I don't even use it. These screens do not scratch unless you're very reckless.

ive thought the same thing. so i didnt use them.
but i only buy flagships and the keep good resale value to put towards my next one.
so in that case, i use them to get the scratches on the plastic and the real screen is still fresh.
i also feel the same about cases! they make your phone look like tupperware!
resale resale resale! plus i dont like ugly beat up looking stuff.

Had 3 deep scratches on my S3. Near as I can tell it was from sharing the pocket with tools every now and then. So not sure about "very" reckless...but maybe only a "little" reckless.

Yep only need a phone case. Screen protector is useless unless you're dumb.

Lol, lemme get this straight...
You guys agree that screen protectors are "dumb" and "useless" while at the same time admitting that your screens have scratches on them...
Makes total sense. [/sarcasm]
I'll take the hardly noticeable decrease in screen clarity over scratches any days. You can always change the screen protector for something better, but even minor scratches are permanent. No thank you.
It depends on what screen protector you get, if you get the Chinese protectors 3 in a pack that look and feel like seran wrap you could windup with lose of clarity and a tacky rubbery feel.
Last year I got a Spigen thin air clear case and it came with a screen protector that looked like a rigid piece of plastic and kind of thick, I figured it's included with the case so I gave it a try. Well I was pleasantly surprised at the feel quality and clarity of the protector, you cannot tell that there is a screen protector on the screen, very hard and slick feel on screen and the same sharpness and vivid color of the original plain screen.
It was a ***** putting it on, had to wet the edges to get it on right, in the end it was well worth it.
Spigen screen protectors are considered premium screen protection.
Who knew.
Pp.
The only screen protectors I've ever used was a three pack from Tmo when I bought my S4 and the one that came with my Otterbox. I don't remember the brand of the three pack, but they worked just fine with no noticeable loss in clarity. The Otterbox screen protector has some weird wavy pattern when tilted while the screen is off, but it's otherwise fine. No noticeable loss of clarity with it either. I'm in no rush to get a new 3 pack.
Honestly, I don't know how anyone in this thread can seriously argue against using a screen protector especially considering the cost of the phone they protect. IMO it's right up there with purchasing the phone without insurance.
I grabbed the Otterbox Defender, popped the screen protector that comes with the OB out (because I got tired of little bits of dust getting behind that screen protector from either the charging port, speaker holes, or the headphone jack) and just put a Zagg Invisible Shield on it. On top of the dust getting behind the OB screen protector, it also seemed to add a type of haze to the screen which I didn't like. It obviously detracted from the 1080p HD look. I haven't changed the Zagg shield since I got the device and only very recently have I noticed very small lines appearing at the part of the screen where I swipe to unlock and the keyboard area.
The tempered glass screen protector I have used for the past two years has saved the screen glass two times now. One when a hammer fell out of my hand a couple feet from the floor and hit my phone by my feet. Glass protector cracked but the screen underneath was unscathed. The replacement survived multiple drops face first on concrete over the next year and only gained a couple micro fractures. Replaced that one last week and the screen underneath was still as good as new. Tempered glass protectors don't degrade image quality or hinder finger movement either. I know mine was extreme cases of abuse but they really are beneficial unless you feel like replacing the whole front glass of the phone after a mishap happens.

Why would your phone ever be near your feet, or on the ground in general?
