My power button is faulty and is rebooting my phone frequently. So I want to disable it. I've searched around quite a bit, and can't find a way.
Does anyone know how this can be accomplished?
Thanks
Smith

I was wondering what I should do about it? It's defitnetly a hardware issue and not a software one.. the one way I can turn my phone on is that I have CM7 and I have the volume keys act as the power buttton
My warranty is out.. should I guts it out and open my phone up and try to fix it? Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced guys

Hey guys,
I have an issue that didn't affect me much at first, but it seems like its happening a lot more lately. When I tap the back or menu key, its like the button sticks, it keeps pressing itself over and over again so fast. I usually just lock the phone to make it stop.
I have tried different Roms, but I guess that has nothing to do with it.
Has anyone experienced this? If so, did you fix it?
I have experienced this.....the only why I could find to fix it was to return my device. Sorry this probably didnt help you much.

So my power button is broken and i'm on the official T-Mobile Jellybean release. I was wondering if there was some code I could put in build.prop that could enable the volume rocker wake until I send it into Samsung for repair. I exhausted every resource and read many forums but I couldn't find anything. If anyone could help me or even point me in the right direction it'll be really appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

what u need is button remapping.
depending on model of your phone, u can find out hard button mapping, then using adb u can assign the change.

hit thanks now or late
Hmm sounds hard but i'll try googling it. Thanks!

I had the power button issue too. I sent it to a third party place to get the button replaced. My phone is working like a charm now.
It seems the gs2's had this issue on a few of them. The button seems to get stuck and the phone keeps on rebooting.
Cost me 40 bucks to get it fixed. Well, plus shipping.
Here is the link to the place I used.

Hope this helps
Tried remapping the buttons...failed miserably. Thanks for the help guys!

Try fixing it yourself
there are excellent step by step videos on youtube
teaches you exactly how to replace all parts
I have seen the videos seems simple
just order the button assembly online
save yourself some big buks
you can probably fix it faster yourself this way too...
All right. I just received a Samsung Galaxy S2 T-Mobile (White) from a friend.
It doesn't boot up to the Stock Android. It's not rooted it's completely stock.
When you start it up it just goes to the Samsung Logo Screen then into a Samsung Android 4G screen in which the loading bar gets a lil over halfway and it just turns off and restarts the process. I'm not sure whether it's the power button issue i've been seeing in the past. Or if it's something wrong with the motherboard power button area.
I am also providing a video I recorded just to see what happens when I put the battery inside an then press the power button.
I was wondering if anyone could give me any things to try to fix it or a possible solution as I would like to fix this issue and root the phone.

Youtube of putting battery in and powering up.. An how the boot goes.
Is it constantly vibrating in your hand as it reboots? If so then most likely it's the power button
You could try circling around the power button with a pin. Blow it out then hit it with an eraser (or any large rubber item). That worked for me,

or you could just hit the power button hard a couple times with an eraser and try to put some compressed gas in there
I tried the eraser thing an It didnt seem to work. I dont have any compressed air but I will try ot when I do

Any way to remap the power button to the home button? My mom dropped her phone and every once in a while it'll just get stuck in a loop until she smacks the phone and the power button kinda fixes it self for a little bit at least. Any way I can remap the power button to maybe the home button?
I believe you can. A little bit of googling will find you a guide.

I looked on Google thru and typed xda after wards to narrow the search. Nothing was detailed enough. I figured its in the use/seckeys if I remember right, but its been 6 months since I played with the insides of the s3.

Although other properties such as Power Menu can be remapped to Home button, When the phone is completely turned off, bootloader won't respond to anything else. Better have it replaced. If you open the phone, it may be easier to reseat the spring.
