Just got upgrade eligible. I've been wanting to get into some developing a bit. This might be my first phone I actually do that with.
Just checking out the community here and saying hi. I'm coming from an Evo Shift and we had one of the best, most friendly communities around. Only reason I haven't updated yet is I'm hoping for a sprint version of the Butterfly (DROID DNA) next year q1

I've been stuck on cm for so long, but I'm not a fan of the recent direction they're going. :'( AOKP or PA seems nice

Welcome to the LG. I'm a pretty new user of it as well...haven't even rooted or unlocked just yet...waiting a little bit and letting it settle in to my daily usage before I tinker

Believe me when I say that once we get this puppy opened up, I'll be pumping out anything and everything I can build....my sig doesn't even fit all the builds I'm doing on the Photon and Atrix....so here's a rundown:
AOKP
CM10
CNA
Liquid Smooth
King Kang
MIUIAndroid
MIUI.us
Paranoid Android
PAC Rom
I also have done a couple of builds of Xenon, but interest in that waned, so I dropped it...kinda hard to maintain all the builds solo...LOL
Also have done a few builds on the Infuse
Looking to get to work on it once I get everything situated with my current stuff
That sounds great. I have not rooted either, I will look forward top your work. If you need a tester. Let me know

Very good to hear
Great to hear some love coming this way for LGOG. I've been rooted since day one couple weeks ago but haven't found need to unlock. Can't wait for some AOSP on this. Used to own OG Evo and GS2. From what I understand this device should put me as close to a Nexus 4 as I can get on Sprint! This phone is great stock!

Camera
LTE on this device....and while I think N4 has 4G, it's HSDPA+, not LTE
slightly diff ram
Edit:
didn't put in the storage, as I don't think that's as big a deal as the others

The N4 has been made able to access several 4G LTE networks, including AT&T LTE, band 4. But then we've been made able to access GSM networks, although it requires a bit of hardware modding.

My friend is very excited about that bit. We live in Los Angeles, which is lucky enough to have Band 4 LTE, although not in our specific area. I have LTE a few miles away, and and he will get it soon enough. When the OG finally receives some good AOSP, we will be switching phones fairly often

I considered the same 2 devices (S3 was a VERY outside possibility). In the end, I went with this because of price, as well as I just thought it looked awesome. I am incredibly pleased with the purchase. I came from the same device as you (S2 E4GT). This feels like a whole different world in terms of build and OS feel.

More potential. Endless potential due to the N4 being based off the OG, the camera for bragging rights, and the sheer build quality. Main reason for me was the price, got it for $99 from Best Buy, while as my brother paid ~450 for his Note II.

I say that in jest, but curious to see who all is interested in BB or has their time come and gone? I've done a lot of research on their new phone and seen a lot of leaks, and see nothing really new. Looks to me like a mix between iPhone and Android.

Not me. I had a 9700 for couple years, good phone and business device but when it comes to play time it fails. I'm a die hard android fan and with the exceptional piece of hardware the Note 2 is hard to leave it for BB.
BTW I am Canadian lol. Blackberry is just to late to the game. Another big Canadian IT company in the gutters
It would be pretty neat to get the launcher/themes over to Android, though wouldn't it? The interface seems pretty cool.

They did play in the full touch screen world early on but it failed. Blackberry's key selling point is the keyboard it self. Regarding OS, I've been saying it for over a year, Blackberry should have played with Android earlier on.

iSheep have different mentality. At least where I work... "But... wait... how... Wait a minute, I can jailbreak and do the same, just watch me"
I am not holding my breath.
I work at JCPenney's and with former apple bigwig now running the show here, its amazing how many problems I encounter daily with CR-apple devices...
I just want to pull Ron Johnson aside and tell him to invest in XDA Devs to manage competent android devices... been waiting months for any new app, and the ones we do have have are in serious need of updating(months overdue)... to think how fast devs get things accomplished for practically nothing on XDA, while apple devs under contract with JCP take months to get anything done is a travesty

First, be sure to have both apps opened. Then, on one of the apps touch on the typing area, to bring up the keyboard. Write at least one letter, and it should be able to float around. I tried to make it float without writing a single letter and it won't. Maybe it's just me, but it worked as described.

I wouldn't be surprised if a jailbroken iPhone could do that. And it'd be worth more in 2 years - and it'd still be getting software updates too, which I'm almost positive our Note 2s won't be getting in more than a year. >>
However, one thing the Note 2 can do that the iPhone will never be able to do is use a stylus like the s-pen. Sure, you can use a stylus, but it's like drawing with preschool crayons.
Just thought I'd be the voice of reason here lol

I don't have a note 2. I have an iPod touch and an Atrix 4G.
Apps on the iPhone can't resize. There is no framework for it. Even if it were possible the screen is too small.
Also I haven't seen any alternative keyboards.
The iPhone has a solid, simple, smart experience, however it does not have the potential of Android. An iPhone looks nicer, works seamlessly but isn't as capable as an Android phone.

I taught about buying one for awhile. But Jawbone kinda starred me the wrong way. When they came out with it, they only released it to the Crapple side of town. And I wanted it then!! Now they decided to give to us ANDROID users. I haven't had it, don't think I'll jump on it unless the Up is highly discounted.
I kinda just dropped Jawbone all together, don't use any of there Bluetooth products. Gave them all to my girl. Earpiece, jambox, big jambox, had em all!! Even the big earpiece they released, when they first came out!
But how are you going to come out with something that good (JawboneUP) and not give it to everyone. Only the isheep people. Bulls*** I say.
It's probably not selling anymore so they decided to give it the the android fans! BS I say!!
Just my 2ยข on the subject

I figured this out. It was the Sabre Kernel, which I am assuming interferes due to the Voodoo audio enhancements. I switched to Perseus, and it is all good.
Hey meatlocker, do you think you could upload the jawbone apk? It says it's not compatible with my sg II in the market and I can't find the apk anywhere...

If your problem is only with large screen then go for it! Because when I bought my S3, my first thought in mind after unboxing was "seriously, why did I even buy this huge phone" (saw S3 first time). My co-worker has it, so I have had a chance to play with it already. It's not much bigger than the E4GT, but I want a phone where I can reach across with my thumb without having my palm activating stuffs on the edge of the screen.
