My brother just got the One yesterday and told me today he can't get his to mount the USB storage. I asked If he searched online for it and he answered with "extensively." I told him I would ask if anyone on xda had the drivers for a MacBook.
So... does anyone have HTC sync drivers for a MacBook?

I only have Mac computers and the only 2 ways I can do anything with the phone and Mac is to either use HTC Sync Manager or Android File Transfer.
HTC Sync Manager People say it sucks but I've personally never had a problem with it at all.
Android File Transfer
They both work flawlessly for me.
EDIT: Looks like I may have misread. Did he already download HTC Sync? And it won't recognize? I didn't have to download any drivers or anything, I just downloaded HTC Sync Manager and it connected to my phone once I plugged it in.
I think he said he couldn't find HTC sync for mac. I appreciate the links. I will give them to him and let you know if it works for him.

He said it is not being recognized at all. He has HTC sync manager already.

Weird. HTC Sync I believe includes the drivers for the One. Has he tried uninstalling HTC Sync Manager from his Applications, restarting his mac, and redownloading and installing? That may help.
If not, have him try Android File Transfer. It allows him to transfer files, music, etc from his mac to the One, and vice versa.
Definitely try Android File Transfer
I have used it with my HTC one on my mac.
If that works, he will know it's some weirdness with HTC sync.
If it doesn't recognize either...then it's a different troubleshooting step...

I'm rather puzzled by this problem with my windows 7 laptop. Htc sync recognizes the Desire and connects (though with problems, see my other post). But the option of showing the sd card as a drive isn't available on either the phone or the computer. Is it a question of drivers? If so, where do I find one that works?
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Joe
Have you got the latest HTC syc installed?
Working on Win 7 32bit for me. Haven't tried ot on 64bit but also haven't seen anything to suggest it doesn't.
I assume you are also using the USB cable that came with it and not a different one which may only be a charge cable.
Hi i had this problem, you have to uninstall the HTC drivers from programs and let windows install via update. HTC drivers/software are poor!
htc sync works
I haven't been using the htc cable but will try it. Also will try uninstalling drivers...
Ta,
Joe
I have the same problem: I installed HTC sync (the newer version from HTC's web site) and everything works fine with synching between Outlook and the Desire. During this process I also see the new removable drive.
But, If I only mount the SD card as a hard drive nothing shows us and I have no access.
I am using the original HTC cable and as I said the synching works just fine, just not the mounting as a removable drive to gain just file access.
Have already reinstalled htcsync. Computer recognizes HTC sync. When mounted as a disc drive the computer recognizes it as a drive, but when clicked it does not recognize the device or the SD card with information on it. was previously working with no problems. I have no clue on how to fix the problem. Is there any setting I could have changed by accident? My phone is rooted.

Had this problem a while back. Had to uninstall HTC sync, uninstalled all HTC and Android drivers, using a program called usbdeview. Unplugged phone from usb and Rebooted my pc. Reinstalled sync and everything worked fine. As a note I've also had problems with HTC supplied usb cables and my firewall from keeping my phone from transferring files.

Thanks for the reply! Did what you said, and it did not work. The computer recognizes the device, and says that it is ready. Before when i would plug it in, a window would pop up asking what action I wanted to take. I would open windows explorer to open the SD card and view my files. Now it does not pop up. When I go to my computer and click the drive for removable disk, it says please insert a disk into removable disk. This makes no sense. Anyone else have any advice?
Is your device rooted? I ask because a lot of us that are rooted used unrEVOked and had to load drivers before doing so and you might try just loading the drivers from their site. I can link you too it if need be, let me know.
Hello everyone !
I've already searched on the forum, but all I tried does not work...
I have a big issue with HTC Sync. When I plug my phone to the computer, the phone says that it can't find HTC Sync installed on my PC. I'm on Windows 7 32bits.
Thanks in advance.
Its htc sync running in the notification area? You need htc sync open and running before you connect your phone.

Yes, HTC Sync is running.. but no result
Some times the PC shows: "HTC Sync port of Desire HD is not responding. Please disconnect cable and reconnect after 10 seconds"
Up .. Nobody ?
Just to add .... i do have the same problem ... i upgrade HTC sync to the latest version 3.0.5511 but the problem still exists ....
any help
Try un-installing/re-installing HTC Sync - including the drivers - by using 'add/remove programs' (assuming it's the same as on XP ... ). Try again ....
Do you get the option on the phone to 'sync', 'mount sd card as disk drive', etc? If so, does the 'mount sd card' option work?
If still no, try MyPhoneExplorer - client on pc and app. on phone and it's free. Google will find it.
Dave
@dvhttn:
thanks for replying
1) uninstall/install didnt work
2) phone is set to HTC sync ... when Mount SD ... the sd mounts with no problems
3) myphoneexplorere looks like a good software ... still having problem with its connection but trying to play here and there ... will feed you back soon
Thanks again
I updated to official JB and now on connecting to pc via usb it doesn't show the same notification window as ICS.
There is no option as Charge Only or Disk Drive..
Is this normal, how to allow disk drive access in this case.
You can automatically access the phone storage on both sides (pc and from phone) at the same time. AKA mtp usb storage.

Even i have the same problem. Even if we are able to access the sd card from both sides, the sd card isnt being shown on the pc. I installed htc sync manager, but that just shows your media files, not your other data. Please help out fast!
Ums made place for mtp. You can mount your sd card in recovery

Some taiwanese pioneers report that it requires something from windows media player 11 too. Make sure you have these two software installed.
Alternatively, you can use newer windows to obtain simplify this problem.

I know about that.. When u connect the cell HTC Sync Manager Setup requires WMP 11 or above. I already hav 11.
Need some thing else, i have tried everything, I dont understand how can a Driver file b missing when i have run HTC Driver Installer and have downloaded the HSM setup file from HTC.com straight that too twice..
Initially the setup showed some other files missing like MS VC Redist 2005 etc, so i got them one after one then it stopped at this error...
All I wanted was to enjoy my JB but it a nightmare nw..
Remove all htc drivers.
Install the latest one from htc.
Reboot your computer
Connect the phone and let the drivers get installed.
I hope it works.

How can i remove all htc drivers, i know the device manager approach. But read sumwhere that these drivers are some times stored in system and same reverts when u connect the device..?
They have done away with usb mass storage in JB and gone to MTP storage. A decent work around is to mount with CWM recovery or TWRP recovery
Also this has been discussed before mate

I removed all drivers from device manager, then using htc sync installed the latest drivers HTC Driver Installer 3.0.0.021,
Then rebooted & connected the device.. But again same error of MTP..
I have an image of it.

Hey guys I'm sure many of you noticed that ever since we updated our One X to Jellybean Sense, USB Mass Storage has been changed to MTP format. That issue has been taken cared off here. There was also an Autoplay Menu, showing to install HTC Sync Manager or Open to View Files (which showed a bunch of drivers and stuff...) especially when you uninstall HTC Sync Manager from your PC . Now there's a way to remove that as well.
1. Use Root Explorer and head on over to System/App
2. Mount as r/w from r/o if you haven't
3. Delete HtcSyncManager.apk
4. Reboot and Enjoy
If you have any problems mounting your system afterward, try rebooting your phone and PC. If not, simply reflash your ROM and it should take care of it .
Will update this thread if I find any more issues and workarounds.

I think simply reflashing or restoring the file should "unfix" it

You can also simply "Disable" HTCSyncManager from Settings>Apps>All. This was you can easily re-enable when you need it!

Just updated my cid_032 to JB and saw this HTCSyncManager autorun as cdfs at My Computer and start to find way to remove it. Found this thread and because i'm not rooted tryed this soluton , but it didn't work , there is no "HTCSyncManager" app in Settings>Apps>All... there is only HTC Sync app which is very different... maybe it's time to root this iron
p.s: just thinking wheather if I install HTC sync manager on my pc ( i installed just drivers , don't like much soft if it's not needed ) this autorun will disappear from itself ( some kind of checking and stopping automaticaly ) ??? 10x in advance...

Yes, I think it will this is annoying when you get tired of HTCSyncManager and you uninstall it and this autorun keeps pestering you to re-install it . Why haven't you rooted it tho .
Still not able to mount it on my macbook after these steps. Are you sure it makes it mount as a block device again?
I fixed that problem just by removing the drive letter from the corresponding drive. Haven't seen the annoying popup since.
Thanks, removed the system app.
Or go to Settings-->Apps-->all-->HTC Sync then stop and deactivate the app.
And if you later want to reenable it just do the same but with activate and start.
greez
I removed HTCSyncManager.apk, and it helped initially, but the sucker was still popping up in Windows, only now a couple of minutes later after I plugged in the phone. I traced this down to Windows service HTCMonitorService, which I had to stop and disable to completely prevent Sync Manager from popping up. Apparently the purpose of that service is to periodically check for presence of the phone at USB port and start sync in case auto-start didn't do it. That's one more step that you need to do if you want to keep HTC Sync Manager software in Windows (for drivers for example), but prevent it from loading up every time on USB connection.
By the way, none of this is specific to HTC One X. I have One now and before that, One X+. They all suffered from the same problem, so this thread likely applies to most latest HTC phones running Android.
This is now called 'PC Synchronization', not HTCSyncManager.
