Did I ruin my SD card? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I was running liquid smooth 4.2.2 and flashed a tw rom. When it booted into tw it said your SD card may be broken would you like to reformat? I hit yes and it didn't seem to do anything. I went back to liquid smooth and it did it again now I no longer get the message but it says my SD card has only 6mb on it. How could I test and see if my SD card is working as it should?

Also when I turn off the phone and charge it, it displays a purple looking battery with a question mark over it.

Try plugging it into a computer and see what it says. Actually take it out and put it in a reader. It could have a messed up partition or something

I just tried two other batteries and still get the purple battery icon with? Mark when phone is off and charging. I'll try plugging it in computer what should it look like when I plug it in?
Everything seems to work when I plug it in. I can add and remove files from it.

[Q] SRF 1.1.0 SD card issues?

I'm running SRF 1.1.0 and my SD card becomes unmounted randomly throughout the day. I restart my phone and it comes back, but again it will come unmounted after an undetermined amount of time. Is my SD card going bad or is it the rom?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Havnt had this problem but you may want to try and backup your SD card than reformat it than copying your backup back on to the SD card. Sometimes reformatting it fixies SD issues. Just a thought. Worth a try may fix your issues.

Definitely will do that when I get a reliable computer again. Desktop has a fried power supply and my laptop's HDD is failing. Hopefully maybe someone from ACS will take a quick peek and throw an opinion around

This isn't the ROM, it's a loose physical connector.
Thanks k0nane, I figured it might be something like that. Any way of going about fixing it? Or do I need to flash stock and bring it to the store?

For now, eject the card and firmly insert it. If it continues, yes, you need to exchange it.

Having issues with my phone.

I have a sprint epic 4g touch.
Im having some issues with my phone. Everuthing will be going just fine, my battery will be fully charged, then suddenly my phone restarts. It comes back on, & its suddenly hot & my battery will be dead. It will keep restarting unless I take my SD card out.
Ill take the card out & then sometimes ill turn it back on & my battery will be sorta charged again.
& then its usually okay.
But then as soon as I put my SD card back in, ill turn it on, & tnen it keeps restarting.
Sometimes it will finally stop & everything will be okay. But it just does this at random times.
Anyone have an idea of what might be the issue??

Sounds like a bad SD card or battery....or both. I'd replace each one.

Before replacing the SD card try a simple format first, because if you're like me, you don't have money for a new SD card lol
Also bout the battery, every time I've gone to sprint with battery issues they give me a new one, now I know they won't always just give you one, but if you're nicey nice to them and get buddy buddy they may

I have had a bad/cheap SD go out on me, and almost the same issues as OP. My advice backup your SD cause that fukr's gonna die for real soon. Then bam without the SD in phone runs great..What size is your card? If it's not too big I have craploads of SD's from old phones. Mostly 8 AND some 16gb in size. I know for sure I have plenty of 8gb cards if ya need one shoot me a PM..I'll hook ya up..
I'm having the same issue, I tried formatting my SD card and even after formatting it I still get this issue every once in a while:/

What I sometimes do is just plug in to a charger and then it stops. Wait do you have the same issue where your screen flickers and stuff?

my sd card isnt very old. Plus if I format it, then im gonna lose a whole lot of important stuff, cuz most of my apps are on my sd card. & all my pictures, over 2000.

I font wanna lose the apps I have on my card. I have a journal app, with over 2 years of journal entries & I cant lose all that stuff. So what do I do? Is formatting the card my only choice??

Wow. You need to backup that sukr fast. I have lost more crap from even good namebrand SD cards dying on me. I have since gone to the cloud more or less. Never rely on your phone or your SD to keep that much valuable stuff on. At least start a backup schedule on your pc or laptop. So if it does die you won't loose as much..:good:

Oh yeah NO DO NOT FORMAT UNTIL YOU BACKUP. In my exp format does not help for a issue such as y'alls. I had a Sammy card freak out on my old vibrant that literally softbricked that sukr. I was stubborn and blamed the phone but after testing diff setups/voltage/underclock. I took the card out as to not erase it by accident and forgot to put it back in. The phone ran great. Then I inserted the Sd and it made thephone reboot twice then it just locked up hard. Pulled the SD an flshed back to stock and all was good. Insert the SD. BAM same crap. So always make backups. Nandroid and internal and ext SD. It's a pain but a good habit..
Ok, so if I back up my SD card onto my PC, then format my card, how do I get the apps & the data that go with the apps, back onto my phone??

plug the phone back into comp. Open the SDext. highlight all the files copy and paste. Pretty much the same process to copy to comp, but now you are copying back onto your ext SD.
I got my phone to finally stop restarting, when I have the SD card in. I dont know why its working now, but oh well. Can someone tell me What's the difference between the system storage, USB storage & SD card??

[Resolved] SD card removed or blank

Occasionally, when I wake my device up I get this notification. It usually resolves in a few seconds. But twice now I've had to reboot the phone.
Anyone else seeing these messages or have an idea why I'm seeing them or what I can do to address them?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
ATT exchanged my SD card. and so far problem has not reoccurred.
Seems kind of a mundane resolution, especially this card worked fine in my S3, but 24 hrs and I haven't seen the messages again.
Have you tried to reseat your card? If it's an older one, are the contacts dirty? Are you using a stock rom?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Stock rom
32gb sandisk card
Reformatted in my Note 2
The behavior is like the card is slow to wake up when the phone does.

Sd card stopped working?

I was on Facebook and noticed an exclamation mark icon in my notification bar. I pulled down the notification bar and it said that the SD card had been removed, I went to play some music and it said that the file cannot be found or something, so I opened up root explorer and went into the extsdcard and it was empty. I took the back off the phone and took out the card and put it back in; nothing. I took the battery out and again tried taking out the SD card and put it back in, turned the phone on and again, nothing. I took the card out, wiped it on my shirt and tried again. Nothing.
I went into storage settings and tried to remount, but it is greyed out and says insert sd card.
Does this mean it's ****ed or what? If it is then I really hope that I haven't lost the receipt. I'd guess that this card is about 1 month old btw.
Thanks in advance

Nah, it's Verbatim.

Try USB reader and connect to pc/laptop. If it's dead it won't work but sometimes sd cards going mad and after formatting works again.
