Using t-889 in Pakistan - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey friends.. I bought a t-mobile note 2 from a used phone retailer in Karachi Pakistan. It is currently working with Pakistani networks.. my question is that if I install a custom rom such as jedi x17 or cleanrom on my phone, will my current sim still work or I will not be able to get any network?

It should work as long as you are flashing roms meant for sgh-t889 or you can flash any rom except the modem.

Do not flash N7100 ROMs. (N7105 ROMs are ok though.)

Just flash the Jedi X8 to get rid of the tmobile stuffs. There are too many stories of boot loop after flashing different modem to phones for other carriers.

Flash ROMS on other variants (Note 2 /Note II)

I didnt find a thread on this so I'm going to make one. I have an i317 and was wondering if we can flash other rooms from other carriers including the international forums if we flash the modem and the kernel. Because not a lot of devs say there Rom works on other variants

I'm using 4.3 miscom's custom rom just trying to change my LTE band, i used to change it from the service mode main menu. Maybe you're right it might be the rom itself
What rom are you using so i can try that one instead?

Yep. That is a port from international rom. Like Bajanman said. Please provide a screen shot depicting modem. Looking for Baseband version.
We may be able to tweak build.prop. Maybe.

I'm thinking you need to flash the J2 modem since this was the last one that wasn't RAT restricted.

[Q] KitKat Upgrade

If I switch to TMobile now will I still get the KitKat update from ATT when it is released? Using ATT Note 2 unlocked.

Negative..
The carrier dependent information will be different when using the ATT device on T-Mobile....
You'll need the MK7 modem to get the device working...along with the t-mobile sim card...
ATT will not recognize the device...g

I'm on t mobile now and did not change anything. Using the MK6 modem that came with the 4.3 ATT upgrade a while back.
Only functionality that I lost was hotspot that is blocked by some ATT system files.

No issues if you are on the tmo network...
Many users have ATT devices using mk7 modems for tmo...
It's the only way to get full device function...
But if an ATT modem is working fine for you...there is no problem leaving it if you prefer...g
