Is there a good stable CM 4.3 yet anywhere? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Every N7 2013 Cyagenmod thread I see has nothing but bug reports in them seeing the quadrant benchmarks with them though is VERY attractive, since it blows the doors off everything else.
Is there any current CM build that is reliable and bug free enough to use without issues?

Only bug I've had with the official CM 4.3 ROM is occasional random reboots. Other than that it's perfect.

Its more than just benchmarks though, ui customization is on a greater level than what I have experienced thus far with xposed framework and x theme engine or even with cydia substrate and winterboard, The ui and multitasking are lag free, web browsing has no touchscreen hiccups, and gaming is also smoother on cm 10.2. I'm using unofficial (09/05) nightly build with the elementalx kernel 1.3 and am loving it.

I havent had any issue with Kang

I haven't read of any CM 10.2 based rom that suffers huge bugs. They're actually really stable considering the short time 4.3 has been out. I've been using Kang for a while, and everything works beautifully

Maybe its time to give kang a shot then. Thanks for the input guys. Like everything, you see more posts from people with issues, than from people who are not having issues.
I was considering using Jassy's R5 kernel.. is there another that's more feature rich?

Faux perhaps, has its own app as well.

I have faux, but rolled back to stock after some lockup issues a few weeks ago. Cleanrom just doesn't have the same performance at CM does.
I like cleanroom better than stock, but I've always liked CM on my galaxy s3.

U mean like antutu score?

The scores I've seen that are ungodly high are quadrant scores. Granted, you have to take scores with a grain of salt, but when I see a jump of 15,000 on a different rom score, I have to believe I'll see real world performance boosts.

I'll have to hunt it down. I'm following several rom/kernel threads.

Same here I'm also looking for one that stable and doesn't have issues right now I'm running CM Kang with elemental x and it seems good.

I just downloaded kang, and was looking at elemental x as well, since jassy hasn't updated for quite some time now.

Latest CM kang nightly is running great for me! 9/8 is the current. I'm just using the standard kernel for now but might try elemental again.

I'm rocking kang and elemental x 1.3, and am getting better performance than a galaxy s3, or the htc one.
I am seeing some wonky wifi connectivity though that I didn't see on cleanrom.

honestly i think your rom will be the best and most awesome rom ever. Head over here to build it.
I have used ARHD and was very happy with it. I just switched to the Gummy ROM this afternoon and I like it as well.
The problem is no one has enough info from you. Different ROMs have different features. Because of this, "best" is largely opinionated. Read through the [ROM] threads in the development section. Try and get a feel for what features you want then ask around for which one people like the most.
My experience:
ARHD: Pretty much 4.0.2 stock. No visual changes, just performance enhancements. Nice and smooth ROM
Gummy: based on leaked 4.0.3 with major enhancements. Toggles in the drop down menu. Ability to over clock and under volt. I have not ran it very long, but so far really like it.
Hope this helps.

I was on ARHD 2.1.2 for a little while. It ran much better than stock. Then I tried bigxie's ROM and it felt much smoother than ARHD. I'm currently using it with Franco's kernel. While benchmarks don't really tell the whole story, bigxie's ROM with Franco's kernel is quite fast. I get over 3000 on Quandrant (vs 2200 stock, although I think it's an optimization issue) and over 6300 on Antutu (vs. 6000). I like it b/c it looks stock, but adds a few conveniences, like having the power widget in the dropdown notification menu for easy toggling.
From the research I have done AOKP seems to be a winner...I have no experience with it as Im waiting for the price on the gnex to come down before I pull the trigger. But its a very popular among the members I know who have switched to the gnex.

Score one for the fellow Fascinate owner! If he can find one of the best ROMs available on the Gnex without even having one, the answer should be even more obvious to Gnex owners. I use the Toro version of AOKP myself and can confirm droidstyle's conclusion

I ran CM !0 for a few days but I used a Mac and MTP doesn't work so its a bit of a deal breaker for me, but in all fairness its Extremely stable to be an Alpha build. My first android phone was the G1 and then on to the Nexus One so i'm a sucker for AOSP based android roms and for Cyanogen Mod in general so ill be running it when the MTP gets sorted out on my Mac.
I tried Wanams rom, I remember him from my SGS2, Hes a great Dev & its really stable as well.
The best all around so far for me is AndroidUser00110001's Rom linked below. I've found the wifi disconnect problem that i was having with the other TW Roms is gone and it has had the best over all balance of performance and stability.

Definitely AOKP. Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean versions are awesome. I've yet to find any bugs that keep it from being a daily driver. In fact I've found none. But I haven't used it that in depth much, we shall see.

Jelly Bean AOKP vs Cyanogenmod 10

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone has thoroughly tested both Cyanogenmod 10 and AOKP with Jelly Bean. If you have, what are the performance differences, as well as the default theming, and most importantly, battery life. I'm currently on Bugless Beast which has no modifications, so I'm not really interested in which has more features, because I'm sure they're both full of them. Currently I get around 2 hours of screen on time (CDMA Nexus), which I consider good, so If you've experienced more than that on either of these roms, please let me know. I plan on switching to one of them when I receive some good reviews. Thanks

Seriously, if you're not into customizing, stock. Stock ROM, stock kernel, just stock. Unless you have Verizon since there's no JB update I don't think
If you really want either of them, here's my "short comparison"
AOKP: AOKP is probably one of the most customizable ROM out there. It has all the settings that I personally care for and use a lot. On top of that, faux kernel helps this ROM run like a boss! Not a smoothest ROM though to be honest. Also not all the features from ICS is in JB yet, so keep that in mind.
CM10: This also has a lot of customization, but not as customizable as AOKP. (That's only by few features though). CM is known for how stable it is. I personally had no issue with CM when running it on my GSM phone. However, there isn't stable version yet.

Yeah, but CM is a bit more stable in my taste. But nothing to write a book about AOKP is very stable, like you said.
You can't judge a rom if it isn't labeled as "stable" by the dev.
I am using AOKP since the
early ICS builds and i am using their JB versions now. They have tons of customization (and much more to come) and although they are considered nightlies (actually they are weeklies or so ) they are pretty stable and fast.
I have always used franco kernel with it and it is just great.
I currently use AOKP build 4 with franco r281, a black wallpaper, black theme and auto brightness. I get 4 hours of on screen time using the extended 2000mah battery. Besides the on screen time the rom is very battery friendly, with no random wakelocks.

Hey, I'm trying Liquid Smooth atm. It's pretty smooth so far
Only irk I have about it though is that it's missing Sound > Vibrate preferences. Ie When it's on silent it's not totally silent as the buttons still provide feedback (vibrations) on touch. The stock rom behavior is to be completely silent except maybe alarms. It's nothing major but an annoyance that hopefully will be gone at some point lol.
I thought I posted a reply already but I guess not??

Stable setup for my S3 (d2att)

For almost two months now I've been running my S3 on a CM nightly + leanKernel stable with great results!
I leave the clock speeds at default, and with Trickster MOD in Governor control i adjust InteractiveX screen_off_maxfreq to 594,000 and Multicore Power Saving to 1. I usually always flash different setups for different phones.. I go through about 5-8 androids a year, however ive kept this S3 longer than I usually keep phones and this setup has been DELIGHTFUL to me!

Absolutely try out Quantum, its like CM 10.2 on steroids and it gets updated every 2-3 days and gets much better battery life than the official CM nightlies. Quantum's only for d2att, so the developer has really awesome support and puts a lot of hard work into the rom.

I'm actually really loving my new setup.. Similar to my original post except I'm running the latest AOKP by task650.. Works so nicely with leankernel!
No stock for me...
I really wasn't feeling the stock ROM so I came to xda and found that CM, Slimbean and Task650 have been saviors.
Been jumping back and forth for a few years.....different devices but mainly my S3.
Love this place.

Quantum is the best of the best, you should try that one!
I've been running hyperdrive with faux's stock kernel for a while... Flawless performance and battery life for me
Quantum by far for performance, stability and battery life and he updates the roms and kernels daily!

If OP does flash Quantum, the newer kernels are a must have unless you run into stability issues. (Kind of rare, but still plausible.)
Quantum is a great ROM, and has a super kernel!
Just make sure that if you flash it, disable MP-Decision using an app like Trickster MOD... you need to read through some pages I believe to figure out that you actually have to - so just so you know
New quantum 4.4 is just as smooth even in beta form

Yeah Quantum is great. Been follwing Pwncakes since his first 4.3 release in early August. And 4.4 is solid as a rock! :good:

I think it's a great ROM however after flashing it I get reboots at least every 10 minutes and I'm not sure what's the cause of the instability because I updated the firmware to I747UCUEMJ2 and I also updated to the newest version of CWM...
