Good rom for Note 2 (N7105) - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any suggestions for a decent rom for my note 2 n7105?
Im after stock but with extras and a bit more speed, kinda like Capychimps and Rcmix' Roms for the HTC series phones.
The Development section is packed with mainly CM Roms and Miui ports carrying bugs (Not a dig, Things take time) so hopefully any suggestions here will help myself and other users finding the same things as me.
Thanks all

[Q] Will the Note II get an official CM10?

Hello there peeps, I'm an X Note I user, really enjoyed the experience until my phone got broke heh! And then I bought an S3, my current phone. Im currently running CM10 on my S3, runs good, but because of the close sourcing of the Exynos processor, its still not THAT smooth as it should be. But my taste always is a bigger screen, so I want to get back a Note II. I highly DOUBT that Im ever gonna use Touchwiz....
So the question is, will the Note II get a hands on from Teamhacksung? And we'll get an official support from CM10?
Besides, Samsung has finally decided to give devs some documentation of its Exynos4 source !
Replies would be appreciated as I'm considering to buy the Note in few days, still not so sure! Hope you can help
The current CM team isn't touching any future exynos devices besides the S3 and the Tab if im correct. But if someone new want to come in and start developing for the Note 2 than it would be possible, which we already have a few members here working on CM10 for the note 2 and made some progress. CM10 in the works
Don't expect any official support for CM tho on the Note2..
Running a AOSP build just goes against everything the Note 2 was meant for

Then why did we have a CM10 support for the Note 1 ? Same idea, the whole idea about the Note was with the pen. And yet, the Note I got an official CM10. I dont care about the pen features, Im after a gorgeous 5.5 inch screen actually...and run AOSP rom on it. I can't bare touchwiz.
Well who cares?

Those who have tried AOSP roms and figured out that it beats Samsung's Touchwiz ROMS ? Easily and clearly. Forget about the feature Sammy plug in which are awesome for intance. But when it comes to performance and UI ? The Vanilla pure Android experience is the best one out there....

because it uses a older processor than the new Note 2 and GS3 (Exynos 4210) we use Exynos 4412, the GS2 even have problems with CM and other aosp roms. (Didn't some of your roms the menu button didnt work?)
Also the US version of the Note 1 came with a snapdragon processor..
Samsung just don't want to release the right docs for the Exynos line. you can build a AOSP rom for the note 2 it just would be a a$$ to get everything fully working with out the sources you need.
Reb0rn and simone are both working on an unofficial CM10 for the note 2, and I believe Entropy said if they get it working and all their gerrit **** is OK there's no reason for it not to be made official with them as the maintainers.
I may be wrong about that last bit though, it's best to just go read that thread.
I believe cm10 is a downgrade from the stock software. Multitasking for example separates this phone from the rest. Never thought that I'll say a phone out of the box better suits my needs than cm10, aokp, or paranoid. Sorry

[Q] Does Note 8 have lots of custom ROMs?

I am looking to buy my next tablet...researching if Note 8 has lots of ROMs. I only saw 1 ROM at the developers threads.

This tablet will never have "LOTS" of ROMs developed for it,it doesn't have the mass market appeal of the nexus and lower priced Samsung tabs.
As long as we get some good quality ROMs with the option to go "lite" if we wish and to customize and mod it i'll be a happy camper

[Q] (Q) Will custom ROMs on the Note 4 typically keep the extra Note 4 capabilities?

I'm torn between the Note 4 and the Nexus 6; I like the quick updates on Nexus, plain vanilla UI, water-resistance....
But the Note 4 has many great things going for it, not least of which are a better camera and the S-pen. If I do go with that phone, I'd like to make reasonably sure I can continue upgrading the ROM well past Samsung's EOL... But I'd also want to make sure that such things as S-pens, heart rate, UV sensors, and the like will actually be usable with custom ROMs.
Those of you with experience with Samsung Notes int he past -- is this a reasonable thing to expect? (I remember how long it took for the camera on the HTC Vision to work on custom ROMs.... but many things have changed since...)
So coming from experience that ranges between many custom roms on many phones. I think its less an issue to need to have custom roms nowadays than it was before. But there is plenty of custom touch wiz roms in the community. I think when you get the note, you have to know you are getting proprietary software and drivers for the wacom technology (s pen). Prob same for other stuff (uv, etc). Sorry answer is, get Note 4 I'd stock is okay with 2 years of legit Samsung updates. If not, get nexus. And any custom roms are gravy.
note 4 probably wont have custom roms. if that is what you are looking for get a nexus 6
I always used a custom rom that had every thing working. There are both types normally depending on what you want. Like a Philly steak with wiz or without lol.

You are assuming we can get a custom recovery. That is by no means certain.
Custom Roms are possible with the Developer edition!!

[Q] Ace IIx/Trend vs Galaxy Ace II

Hey all,
Before this phone I had a Note 4, but through an unfortunate series of events I was rendered phoneless and the Ace IIx is all I can afford right now, so here I am. Anyway, the reason I bring up my prior Note 4 ownership is because on that phone there were a bunch of variants as well, but it was possible to flash roms between some of the variants through flashing a compatible kernel as well, or in more difficult cases a data fix or things of that sort.
Anyway, is anything like that doable here as well? Or are my dreams of flashing PA on my AceIIx fruitless? If that's the case, I'm limited strictly to a few different cm 10/11 builds, beanstalk, omni 4.4 and pacrom 4.2 right? Or are there some more that I've somehow missed?
I had heard there was at the very least also slimkat ported over, but I can't find it anywhere and this gives me hope I've missed something very fundamental.
Any shred of help with any of these questions would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

Will the Ditto Note 4 ROM work on the SPH-L900?

Hello all, I'm new here and just picked up a cheap brand new SPH-L900 and I've seen a ROM that will give the Note 2 the features available on a Note 4 but will it work on the Sprint variant of the phone??
Looks like development for this phone is dead. I've been looking around and a lot of the custom roms stopped in 2014
For Android 5.1 your choices are Mokee and cm12.1. For 4.4.4 you do have a handful of decent choices. Though, you are correct development has come to a slow crawl. I keep telling myself today is the day I will commit to learning to port... But that hasn't happened yet.

Thank you Champeau. Are there any roms that mimic the Note 4 like DN4?
I think the closest you can get to note 4 is smoothest note 2/3. There are a couple s5 roms out there.
Jlmancuso is still banned from here, I think, but you can still look through his android file host files. Jlmancuso has some s5 stuff, he also ported cyanideL... Just look at his files. There is a lot there.

Also this guy has been keeping a pretty updated list of roms for years.
