Do you keep your One in a case? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Hey guys this is just getting some feedback on how easy it is to scratch the HTC one and whether you have it in a case or not.
I personally have kept it in a case since I got it but I feel that I am hiding the beauty of the phone. I wanna keep it out of the case but I'm scared that I will end up scratching it

I just received this case today. It's super thin and clear so it barely looks like I even have a case on it. It's definitely not a rugged case. Good for scratch protection but definitely not going to protect much against drops. Not a bad choice for $3.99.

Nope. This phone is too gorgeous to keep it in a case.

Got me one of these at the XDA DevCon: http://www.cruzerlite.com/community/xda-developers/htc-one-xda-molded

I use this case:
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/htc/htc-one/htc-one-case-ultra-thin-air.html
It's really thin and they have a clear and a matte version. I have the matte version but can still see the beauty of the One perfectly.
It comes with a really awesome screen protector too. Can't even tell it's on there.
20 bucks, free shipping, and I ordered mine on Thursday and had it Saturday.

HTC double dip flip case on mine. It even fits in my leather pouch for added protection although not needed.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

thinking of getting a leather wallet case for the phone/ wallet. Not going to keep it in any sort of case during use.

got a platinum case with a kickstand

Have a white and gray otterbox on mine, I use that while I'm at work but when I'm at home I take it out of there, hate having the case on the phone. Also dont use Screen protectors either, got one when I bought this from Best Buy in a combo pack with the otterbox, the sales rep put it on for me but all I can see is imperfections in the screen no matter how good they do it, so it came off and I'll stick to never using one

Using a Poetic case, just until I get used to the dimensions. Then it's coming off.

Are any of these cases a TPU material, or all hard shell.?

To Case or Not To Case...

So I got a regular rubber case with my Nexus (assuming it would add the least amount of thickness) and I always use cases with my phones but I'm noticing that it really increases the thickness and feel of the phone, which I dislike.
How many of you are and aren't using cases and what is your reasoning for each?
Should I risk not using a case or should I just suck it up?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I'm not using a case, and my only reasoning is that I haven't found one I like yet. This thing has flown out of my hands inadvertently so many times, I will probably be getting the sylicrilic from VZW just to have something on it until I find what I'm looking for. If I can ever figure out what that is.
I just ordered the Diztronic TPU that everyone is talking about. Hopefully I'll like that one better than the one that I got from Verizon earlier today...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
No case for me yet. I also haven't found one I like. I'm really attracted to the nekkid look though.
I'm generally a nekkid guy. Dropped my precious today and the plastic back is VERY susceptible to scratches. Reconsidering my no case choice but love this phone as is.

I use a case but...
A scratch on the body won't bother me as much as a scratch on the glass, so I would definitely use a SP if nothing else, but that's just me.
But I want mine in pristine condition for when I sell it and get my Galaxy Note II
I'm definitely getting a case. I never did mind a bulky phone ( I used to have a n900 with an otterbox on.. That thing was a tank, in both size and durability)
Got a case.
This phone with such a large glass and slender body to go along with it feels like it would fall apart if I ever dropped it. Maybe it isn't so but handling something this expensive/large/slender needs some protection for me to freely use it with peace of mind.
I'm using a temporary Case-Mate Barely There case along with no screen protector right now and I'm very antsy when handling my phone. So much so that it's a hassle.
Got the Diztronic case too and will be using Ghost Armor when they finally have the product line.
I had my wife buy the phone AND an Otterbox when she went to vzw... I have had OBs on all my phones and will keep doing so. Sure you can get it cheeper online but I pulled the phone out of the box put the 4g card on then put it in th OB!!!! And that is where it will stay!!!
I don't care about maintaining the cheap plastic backplate much to justify for a case, but I got myself a Silicone case from Verizon anyway because I don't want to scratch the camera lense when laying the phone on the table.
Diztronic rocks. I have a bse full body shield on and the case fits with that too. Scratch proof and protected. Love it

This. Otterbox is the only case I trust my devices in. Had one for my OG and iPod and I recommend them to everyone. Already have the commuter for the SGN and I won't even get the phone till Christmas! I'm ocd about keeping my devices pretty.

heres one thing i don't get from you guys that go naked. what about the effin camera in the back!? you realize every time you place it on a surface you're landing it flat on the plastic of the camera?
I never wanted to go no case but since my Desire, I've preferred the pouches just because it doesn't add to the size of the phone, and then you don't have to worry about anything hitting it. But I think this phone is just too large to use a pouch with. I bought a Nokia-brand pouch that fits my Nexus, but it hangs out the top by half a centimetre. Not a problem because it's not loose in the case itself, but it's still not the best situation.
One of the main reasons why I prefer the pouches is because then I don't have to worry about a screen protector, but I've already got a nick on my Nexus' glass, so I'll probably wear an SP and a case all the time.

i've never used one of these, just looked into it, cause you posted it. Going to have to look into it more now.
good choice. i expect this case to b great because their silicon cases are the best to me. they just stretch after awhile. like any other silicone. but that case isn't rubber. btw, Rearth reached out to me and let me know the case fits both GSM and LTE models.
I dropped my phone within 24 hours of getting it. It left 2 quite big marks on the body. The plastic body is pretty soft and can be easily damaged.
I now have a replacement and put in case striaght away. But it does feel so much slimmer and nicer without a case
do you find excessive dust with an otterbox? seems like my G-nex is totally prone to dust. otherwise i love the case, makes the phone a little easier actually for me to hold without getting the feeling like it might just slip out of my hand.
BSE body skin and XO skin screen cover here.

Meh why is it so hard choosing a case..

Is it just me or do you guys also spend AGES looking at case after case?
Basically i dropped my phone S3 on Sunday and cracked the screen, today i got it repaired so i now want a case/cover that protects over the edge front of the phone. But i don't to add massive bulk or for it to look too ugly.
Im thinking of getting the Otterbox commuter or the Ballistic lifestyle smooth, which one you guys think would better suit? or is there an alternate case better?
I know its been asked loads so apologies in advance.
Your not the only one. I'm a flashoholic and a caseoholic lol and very very picky with both.
My favorite sk far is the Incipio NGP. I love it. The lip should be plenty to protect from most drops and it adds very little bulk and gives the phone a really high quality feel. The right balance between slippery for pockets and grip for when your holding it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
My vote goes to the Incipio NGP as well. It is less thick than the GS2 version, but this reduced thickness (0.7mm) makes the phone quite a bit thinner compared to the S2 situation. Feels slick and slides easily out of pockets. Overall one of the best simple TPU cases around, although it is not exactly cheap for just a TPU case.
Naked is best

can't get Incipio NGP over here have to get it sent from the US, i'm going to the US in 2 weeks for 6 weeks so might as well wait till i'm out there as it might take longer than 2 weeks to come.
Do phone shops stock all sorts of cases out there or do you have to order online? would be nice to try before you buy, none of the shops here have anything decent...

I think most order online. Or at least I do. You'll find a decent selection at most stores but they all have different ones so if you could make it to like an att sprint and Verizon store you should see quite a lot. Online always has a better selection though

not due my upgrade yet, still on s2 but been searching for ages for a case to suit my needs when my s3 comes.
the best I think for me so far is the Acase Superlegerra Pro. looks like exactly what I need.
Hard to choose, right? The Paradox of Choice.
I actually bought too many cases (again) because I couldn't decide. Got various TPU cases from ebay, and Cruzerlite, and the popular hard polycarb Rock case, but finally settled on a so-called hybrid case: the Incipio Silicrylic dualpro, as it provides the best protection, grip, and looks, without adding too much bulk.
(Looking forward to Incipio's future cases for the Nexus 7 too)
I was also in search for a case for more than two weeks. At last I settled for Acase Superlegerra Pro. Lot got good reviews and value for money.
Also providing the same level of protection of a Otterbox commuter.
I have looked at reviews and posts (thanks the_Biz) to finally purchase the Case Mate Tough which is presently being delivered by Amazon. My next step is to select a protective screen which I have not decided but it may be the Ultra Crystal for its 4H hardness and compatibility with all cases. Now I am searching for a couple holsters the horizontal and vertical possibly the Reiko and Active holster respectively but I need to review further for quality and compatibility. When all the above is completed I will order the phone and should not worry about cracking the screen like you had experienced
I got the trident ageis and it works pretty well. I always keep my phone in a case but what did I do I took it out to put on a new screen protector and it slipped out of my hand and landed face down. Luckily there was no damage and I put it right back in!

Living in the UK, the main issue I am finding is that you guys in the US get the best cases!!
Yeah I hear ya, but for the moment I'm going with the otterbox commuter case since I have had good experiences with them
Later on next month I'm a customized case mate
I have 5 cases already. The Neo Hybrid in Infinity White, the silver SGP Ultra Thin, the Glacier Otterbox Commuter, a white/ red silicon/hard case from eBay, and a clear case that I got with the phone. And I'm always on the hunt for a good looking case lol

Verizon threw in a free case when I upgraded to the S3 which is brilliant because it covers their logo
Slim I'd say reearth slim takes it over case mate barely there. I have both.
I think the seidio active is awesome although for all the case conversations on xda I never see people talk about it for this phone. Definitely better than the spigen lumi for hybrid cases. Again I have both.
And u can get a kickstand on the active if that's how u roll. I did..

I have a Fosmon PC+TPU case and an Otterbox defender. I use my phone all day every day for work and switch my batteries out so I use the Fosmon for everyday work use. It comes off easily and protects the phone from everyday use and is cheap as hell. The clear back is flexible and the grips on the side even more so and hold well so far. You can see through the back if you have white you can see the Samsung S3 logo. The Otterbox is when I finally get the hell out of my house, and it does the job but is a pain in the ass to change batteries compared to the Fosmon. There are plenty of reviews of the Defender so you dont need to hear my 2 cents. I opted to spend more on a beefy case with cheap one for every day, it suites what I need very well and if the Fosmon ats $5.88 lasts 6 months I'll be happy.

[Q] Case recommendation!

Hey guys, my S3 should be here by the end of the week, woooooooooo. But I need some help deciding on a case and was wondering if people who have tried different cases or used just one and can reccomend it could chime in. Basically I want something that will protect the phone, specifically something with a lip so when screen down the screen isn't touching the surface it's on, and basic protection of the phone, I don't drop my phone often, never dropped it on concrete, I'm not very clumsy but I still want something that'll protect my very very expensive phone. The Otterbox defended and similar cases seem like overkill for me, but the clear plastic 2mm case seem like not enough protection, so I was wondering if there was a nice middle ground that wasn't too thick and bulky but would definitely protect the phone. I've got my eye on this one http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s-3-ballistic-sg-maxx-series-case, any other suggestions?
Keep in mind I'm coming from a Desire Z with a thickness of 14.2 mm, the S3 feels like a piece of paper in my hand coming from that, so a little bulk doesn't bother me.

That's a nice deal for the Kraken, I like the Aegis as well, they look really nice.
I know you said the otter box is excessive but they actually have two different styles at sprint. i have the slim otter its not bulky but protects everything. I like alot due to the fact that it protects the charging port as well as the ear phone Jack. I had the s2 before and my charging port always got stuff in it like lent from my pocket or what not. The case is lined with a silicone case inside a hard shell which will stop dirt from getting inside and scratching the device as well as making it more drop resistant. It is deffinatly worth having for 30 dollars.
The otter box i have is actually smaller than the case you have posted and comes with one screen protector as well.
Here is a youtube review of the case if it dosent play just google galaxy s3 otter box commuter caae.

+1 for Otterbox Defender. Its not anywhere near as bulky as I thought it was going to be and I really like how it provides me with solid, square edges so I can prop it up on my display screen in my car dash very easily and it stays securly in place (for the most part).

Do I really need a case?

Im ordering a Nexus 5 and I don't know if I should even buy a case. Im not a person who drops the phone a lot but I do put it on flat surfaces that made my GS3 scratch. Since both of the phones are practically plastic, I thought it might happen to the N5 as well.
I will get a screen protector for sure, but do I need a case?
Thanks.
If you drop it from any significant height it will damage.
I don't drop phones. So I'm going caseless most of the time. Out drinking though I have a neohybrid
As for scratches on flat surfaces, it's pretty tough and I wouldn't worry about it.

No you don't really need a case.
/thread.
it really depends what you do in the day...if say you are huddled over a desk from 9-5 then probably not; if you work in a hospital/clinic constantly moving around you should probably get one; if you go to the gym you should probably get one; etc. it depends on the person.
I am getting a Spigen screen protector and a case to use at the gym and if I'm going to be out doors where it might fall out of my pocket. Other than that, my lifestyle isn't such that I need one. I'm really just worried about the screen. If I damage the body, at some point there will be replacement parts and I can replace it.

You should be able to request a refund without having to ship the case back. Just tell them that this case is unusable/defective, which it is honestly. I also left a review on Amazon with the picture to warn people as well.
What made this even more painful though is I waited 3 weeks for this case to arrive (I'm in Canada so not sure if it was a customs thing) and I did just fine without any protection

lmao.
All rigid cases can cause this. Gaps in between the phone and the case cause abrasion and will wear off the urethane soft touch finish. Go for a TPU or silicon case or cover your phone with a skin to prevent this.
The case will also pull your back plate off as well. I stopped using it after that. I am lucky I don't have any scratches.

I've had the rearth slim since it launched and have zero scratches on my phone. Not saying that this case won't scratch but I've taken it off and put it on several times without issue. It fits so snug and feels almost identical to the back of the N5 I love it. Adds quite a bit of additional grip as well

I had that case on my galaxy Nexus and when I finally took it off to sell the phone it had scratched the **** out of the back/bottom of the phone.
Never buying one again...

Get the Diztronic, have it for my N5 and had it for my N4, never a single problem and I dropped my N4 a few times even face down and it never had any damage with the Diztronic on it.
This is my greatest fear from hard cases. I only buy rubberized or tpu cases encased in a hard case.
