nGroove Snap - Galaxy S III Accessories

Just got my nGroove Snap car mount in yesterday from the Indiegogo campaign.
I was using the Xenomix mount for my Nexus 7 and S3, but I saw this came up and liked the design of it way better.
I stream Pandora and use the TomTom GPS app on my Nexus 7 while driving. One big thing I didn't like about the Xenomix mount was that it took too much time to take on/off my tablet (Clamp style mount). In comes the nGroove Snap, this is also a mount that uses your vehicles CD player to hold your tablet or phone. It is uses a magnet to hold the device in place, and after using it this morning on the way to work, I have to say it works pretty damn good.
My mount came with 3 "badges" which are stuck onto your phone or tablet. These are really thin, 2 of them razor thin (.25mm), while the 3rd is double the thickness (.5mm, used for larger tablets, like iPads). Even though the 3rd was thicker, it is still REALLY thin, see my 2nd post for the comparison with a paper clip, and my Harris Teeter Players Card. The badges were designed to be stuck on the inside of the case used on your phone or tablet.
I still need to do some more testing on how it will do with bumpier rides while on the highway, but as I am extremely satisfied with this mount.
I haven't stuck a badge on my Nexus 7 yet, as you can tell by the pics that the screen is cracked, I'm buying a replacement for sometime this weekend.

No worries, it does not affect signal, or the GPS. I even have the element eclipse case on my s3 and didn't notice any change.

No probs with NFC, just connected my S3 to my N7, both have badges on them.

It's really a great mount. Just received mine two days ago and couldn't be happier. Phone slides a bit with bumps in landscape orientation, but won't fall off. Portrait orientation it's solid as a rock.

I'm happy with mine. It doesn't slide around at all. I made a overview video for it if anyone is interested.

I am no longer able to connect my devices via NFC if they both have badges, not that big of a deal, but it to is an issue. GPS still working fine.

Steelie Magnet Mount

I highly recommend this as a car dock. Used it on my N4 and now my HTC One GPe.
The Steelie is awesome! One of my good friends works for Nite Ize, and he gave me one. Definitely awesome.

I love the idea, but it seems like there could be too much risk of destroying something valuable with a rare earth magnet attached to my phone. Not the phone itself. But accidentally tossing it in a bag next to a laptop or near credit cards/IDs in a pocket, etc.
Wish they made it with the magnet in het he mount only. Far less like likely to put something valuable next of a dash mounted magnet.
Out of Stock
So much for that idea

I wouldn't worry about a small magnet wiping a credit card or anything else for that matter. There's really nothing that can be affected by a magnet in a laptop, except for unshielded wires, which shouldn't bother it anyways.

"The Steelie Magnetic Phone Socket contains a strong magnet. These magnets will NOT damage your tablet or phone. However, do not place near magnetically sensitive objects such as credit cards, pacemakers or computer hard drives. Steelie assumes no liability for damage to such objects."

the small magnet attached to the case disabled my cc in maybe less than a second, just the very small moment it took me to realize the card and phone don't go together.. hehe

however, the worst thing about this is that it renders the phone's own magnetic sensors useless, mapping applications that depend on it might not work at all or not properly..

Those cons aren't sounding very attractive ...
I do like how it looks on the dash though but I'm hesitant to purchase when it is back in stock.
Guess I'll just hold off and look for a better alternative
I installed my steelie on my uag case. I thought I would remove it more often in order to use with apps such as star mapping or tools using the compass etc. in the end I realized I don't use those kind of apps that much, (well I am using quite often maps, but they work quite alright in most situations). So be aware of these issues but don't let them deterr you from this mount as otherwise it's indeed very functional. you can also try to find a case that is easier to remove perhaps.

Xenomix CD slot tablet mount does not work

I got a Xenomix CD mount for my old Nexus 7 and it worked beautifully. Today, my family hit the road for a vacation, and the new 2013 model is too skinny to work. I'm going to check the thicker pads when I get home in a few days (which I'm doubting will make much of a difference), but right now it looks like a no go.
Now I'm contemplating the Mountek holder as it handles skinnier items a bit better.
Just thought I'd give some of you a heads up regarding this.

have not tried yet but should work if you have a case... don't want to buy a new car mount..

I would guess it was about a1/4-1/2 inch gap that needed to be closed. I don't know if a case will cover that. The 2012 N7 just fit in the mount without the arms having to be moved to much from closed.

Moto X griffin dock received!!!

I finally received my griffin dock yesterday and let me tell you this thing is awesome looks fantastic and it fits every single case that I have. One really cool feature is that it how's into daydream mode when docked. Personally I found that using doubletwist alarm with it worked great and makes a really great clock and alarm clock I would recommend this dock to any one that wants a dock for there moto x. Also I dont see any reason why it would not work for any android phone with the exception of phones like the mega and notes or really big android phones.
I will post pictures of it when I get home today.

Awaiting the pics. Good to know that it is likely to work with a variety of phones in a variety of cases.
Question: is it easy to plop the phone down onto the connector like with most iPhone docks, or do you have to carefully position the phone above and push it down or really try to fit it in? Because I have a wireless charger and love how easy it is just throw the phone on there, a great USB dock would be that much better as it charges faster than wireless charging, not to mention it works with all phones.
You can dock it quite easily it just slips on and slips off very very nice dock I really enjoy using it and it is definitely a must buy for any moto X owner.

Do you have another phone handy to try with the dock?
Definitely thinking about getting this dock for my nightstand. I love the idea of this, because of the AMOLED display. Usually with the display all the way dimmed and a black screen it was a bit too bright for me at night.
just wondering when u ordered yours and did u order it from moto or griffin.
I ordered a dock on 9/19 and I haven't even gotten a tracking number yet.

(Video Review) Sonivo Nexus 5 Wallet Case with a Sleep sensor

Here it is guys, the review I done for this case. Absolutely in love with it.
I thought I'd share this with everyone as if you look online there really are no wallet cases in the world like this to have the sleep wake function.
If you want more information about this case reply to this thread and I'll try to best answer your questions.
Hope you like the review and the case as much as I do!
Whoever this sonivo crowd are, they smashed it with this case :good:

I couldn't use a case like that but good job with the review.

Everything looks great. I keep wanting a case like this but taking pictures seems to be a pain. How easy is it to take the phone in and out of the case?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Does the magnet interfere with the phone in any way? Maybe the compass or any other sensors?
[Edit] also, is the phone held snugly in the case or does it seem like I could come out with just a bit of flexing?

It's fairly easy to get the phone in and out. If you insert the case one side at a time its really easy. I normally insert the phone in from the left side then once that's in, clip the right side it. Getting it out is the same thing just in reverse. The support on the case is tough but does have a bit of allowance to allow the phone to come out.

Been using it for a few days now and haven't had any problems with it.
No movement from the phone once it's in the case. It's a hard case support thats made especially for the Nexus 5 so once the phone is in won't be going anywhere.
Hope that answers your questions.
One other question: does qi charging work with this case or is it too thick?

Seconded. This looks like the best case with an autowake cover. But it's also the only one that's not available in North America
I was curious about this wake n sleep function and played with a magnet on the phone, the sensor seems to be on the top left corner of the screen. Might glue a thin magnet into the cheapish pink wallet case my gf got for her N5 to ad this feature :good:
Where can or will Americans be able to purchase this? This case seems to be the best option and I only use wallet cases.

I have one that's similar:
http://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Googl...=UTF8&qid=1384880507&sr=8-13&keywords=supcase
The only issues are (1) doesn't work with a car mount as is a frequent case problem and (2) the phone seems to get hotter with a wireless charger than the phone gets without the case on.
I'm assuming if you have this case, you have your phone in your jacket pocket.
I'm also a bit worried about the magnet for the flap, wouldn't it demagnetize your cards?

For those with the Samsung (expensive) cover, could you feedback on:
1. is the magnetic attachment of the tablet to the cover sufficient so there is little chance of the tablet falling out
2. is it possible to place the tablet at an angle to make note taking with the S Pen comfortable, for example if you had a an hour meeting or lecture
thanks in advance

For #1, yes it holds quite well.

For #2 yes.
For #1.... In my opinion there is much more than a little chance... I have had problems twice since I have it.... (2 days....).
I am buying and using Samsung tablets since many years... And I think this is the worse cover I have ever seen... Very ugly with those bars.... And very insecure.... Book cover from s2 was much better and nicer....
So sad with it....

I have the magnetic book-cover and have not had any issues or close-calls with the cover losing its magnetic connection - even when I deliberately pick it up by the front-flap.
I now have the light green book cover. Yes good quality and the magnet is adequate to hold the tablet safely in place. £42 from Amazon UK so still not cheap. Black version is £33 from Amazon.

Samsung original Folio Case, Keyboard Case and S Pen are now on sale at Best Buy USA
Keyboard case is very inefficient. As a normal cover it is too bulky. The attachment of the S-pen is a joke.
I got it for free, but I am quite sure I have to buy a special book cover. Like the one I had on the S2
TheS2 cover fits but does not switch on or off. Is there a solution for that?
HUib
the keyboard cover has been chucked in a cupboard. I'm still looking for a decent case.
Also £599 - tablet is not worth it imho.
Hello, I purchased the green Samsung cover and have no issues. The magnetic connection is strong enough to keep the tablet still, but not too strong to interfere with spen use...
Very satisfied.

Thanks. I’ve now have the standard book cover and keyboard. Writing with the tablet flat on the surface is not as bad as i expected.
