[Q] Stuck at boot screen - HTC One VX

Whenever I turn on my Htc one vx it goes to the htc boot logo and under it it has the words in red letterss. "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permission. Failure to comply May lead to legal Action." I tried to root it but had some trouble and when i get into boot loader it says at the top tampered and unlocked. Any help is greatly appreciated.

explain all steps you did already and also if you where on 4.0 or 4.1.2 i will try to help if i can.

Sorry for the late response. I don't remember too well. I watch a guide with the normal commands to root it but was stuck where it was rooted but i could not load super user. I made the mistake of trying to unroot it and then it got stuck at the screen. I think I don't have the stock rom loaded on the phone anymore but I am not sure and I don't know how to load a rom but I can easily learn. Thank you for your help

Do you have a custom recovery on the phone

ok well if you are still unlocked fastboot flash a recovery then flash a stock rooted rom i would try ICS frist because if you have not flashed a JB RUU or the JB firmware you should still be on ICS 4.0 firmware unless you know you where on JB 4.1.2 if so install the JB stock rooted rom. to do that after you fastboot flash the recovery and have DL the rom just put the rom on a ext. SD card via PC sd card reader. also extract the boot.img from the rom and put it in the same dir. that you have adb and fastboot files. boot into recovery.Do a factory reset wipe from the recovery then install the rom for SD card. After it installs reboot to bootloader fastboot then fastboot flash the boot.img . Hint wherever you have adb fastboot files just open that dir and hold shift and right click and that will give you the option to open cmd propt in that dir. then do your fastboot flash cmd. that should do it and get you up and running again. hope it helps

When I got to flash a recovery I type "fastboot flash recovery twrprecovery.img" while my phone is plugged in while in bootloader but it just says waiting for device. I dont have any drivers installed and I think that is the problem. How can I install drivers without htc sync because The device doesn't show up? Thanks

Nevermind I found the htc drivers.

THANK YOU SO MUCH IT WORKED!!! My phone has been like this for months! You are a lifesaver! I don't need to send it in to be fixed for money! Thank You so much you are the best!

[Q] DHD stuck in HTC green logo screen

HI,
my Desire HD was running 2.3.5 android when i tried to install a custom ROM using "Advanced Ace Hack Kit". The AAHK downgraded my device to 2.3.3 with no problem. Then i run the tool again to unroot the device but i got stuck into the HTC green logo screen after it finished...
Now,
I can boot to bootloader using Vol and power buttons.
I can't factory reset my device. < boot to HTC logo also.
I can't install or update roms from SDcard. < invalid operation (E:can't open /cache/recovery/command).
and I'm still stuck on HTC green logo white background screen and the screen wont turn off.
Please help me with things I can try to somehow get it anywhere besides the HTC logo screen.
Much appreciated,
Sorry overread, that you used AAHK. Heaven't rooted my device that way. So probably my instructions won't help you. Sorry for the post.
For all of the following you need root and s-off. There are a lot of manuals how to do that.
First of all: You don't install Custom Roms via bootloader. You have to install a custom recovery first. Download Clockword Mod or 4 Ext recovery (use search function) and after that fastboot. Now follow these steps:
1) Start into Bootloader and select fastboot
2) Connect your HD to the pc
3) Unzip Fastboot and clockwork or 4 ext into a folder on your pc
4) Open CMD on yur pc
5) Navigate to the folder where the above mentiones files are saved
6) Type in 'fastboot-windows flash recovery "name of the recovery file".img'
If your on Mac or linux:
use 'fastboot-mac' or 'sudo fastboot-linux' instead of 'fastboot-windows'.
Know you can enter Recovery and install custom rom from your sd card.
Yes i used AAHK to root my device,, but didn't work out. thanks for the quick reply.
ANY OTHER IDEAS.. SOME GUIDES TO HELP ME...
are you waiting so long? Some operations can take lot of time...
What ROM did you flash? Why unroot, when you rooted your phone?
I can only advise you to use super wipe tool and than flash new ROM, or try reboot, if you dont
You need to flash an ruu or pd98img
Here's a guide

I have updated the links. check the second post in that thread for mirrors.
you can use the ruu.exe from bootloader. simply boot in to bootloader select fastboot and run hte ruu.
or if you prefer use the pd98img method as described in the thread

Q: Flashing Android Revolution HD 6.0.0 (1.29.401.11)

Hey guys I've just unlocked the bootloader on my HOX and installed CWM and rooted. I had a Galaxy S2 before so flashing roms was a bit different and before I end up bricking my my new phone, I just wanted to get some more info/confirmation as to what I (think) I know before flashing a new rom, Android Revolution. Hopefully this can help some other noobs.
I've downloaded the required files, the rom zip, the kernel bootimg and super wipe.
I have a FAIR GENERAL idea of the steps but I'd like to confirm here before damaging my device.
To my knowledge:
1) Place the rom zip on the internal SD card via USB cable as normal along with the super wipe zip.
2) Boot into the bootloader, enter fastboot and connect the phone via USB and open CMD from the same folder used to root it, with those files present. When CMD is opened enter fastboot devices to ensure the device is being detected and then flash the bootimg kernel using the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
3) (unsure of this step and following steps...) After flashing the bootimg via adb reboot the device and enter bootloader mode again and this time enter recovery.
4) In CWM, reset to factory settings (data wipe), clear cache, clear davlik and then flash the super wipe zip and finally flash the rom.
Those are the steps I know..and I've also read of a .bat file to execute the adb commands automatically but I don't know exactly how that works and I'm a bit scared to try it. I've done my research so please don't flame me for asking this, I'm just scared as hell to brick my new phone.
If someone has a clearer simpler list of steps please post them or please correct any errors I have there. Thanks in advance for the help guys

Making the bat file is very simple..I'll help you on fb if you want...Everything else looks good though...do you really need to connect to the pc every time you want to flash? 0_0

The bat file isn't an issue..once I have the correct commands (if someone can confirm that too it'd be appreciated ) I'm good. And yeah I think so because a kernel ..or bootimg can't be flashed in CWM cuz its S-On ..so anytime u need to flash a new rom I guess you'd have to flash the kernel for that Rom via fastboot.

Stuck trying to install custom rom

Okay so I am trying to install the jdroid rom, btw first time ever doing this so bare with me, anyways I can't boot my phone stays at HTC quietly brilliant screen with some writing underneath it red. I can get into the bootloader menu, where I am rooted and says my bootloader is unlocked. I can also get into clockwork mod however I messed up when transferring the rom onto my phone. I unzipped it and put it there instead of leaving it in the zip file. I can't mount to my laptop through clockwork mod, is there any other way? Again I can't boot my phone. Thanks
EDIT: Now whenever my phone boots, it boots into the clockworkmod and keeps rebooting I can't do anything, cant mount my phone at all

You need to enter the fastboot mode ... hold "volume-down + powerbutton" for 10 secs and then again push the powerbutton to enter the fastboot mode.
Edit: and after that use the comand fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img

What you need to do when flashing:
a) CWM recovery
fastboot flash recovery xxxrecovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
b) Flashing a ROM
extract the boot.img from the ROM.zip
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
enter recovery
install the ROM.zip
reboot

as long as you can get the correct RUU and flash the correct stock recovery, RUU will defo work, then you can start again from scratch. I've done this myself
edit: AT&T????? Are you even in the correct forum using the correct files/methods??? HTC One XL is different forum, different files!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright I got out of it using the st&t ruu, though I live in Canada and on Rogers. Data doesnt work but that is not surprise. Gotta wait for a root access and/or bootloader unlock for 1.85. will be patient.

Boot loop, no device found error, can't do anything

Hi guys I am a new user to xda-developers and I am a noob still at rooting and flashing. What happened is that I had rooted my htc one x tegra 3 international version a couple of days back as i wanted CM10 Alpha 9. It did work but then I wanted to get the CM 10 Alpha 11 after flashing i don't know what happened now my boot screen is only in the CM 10 loading logo and I accidently deleted clockwork recovery (don't ask me how I am an idiot) and when i connect my usb for fastboot it gives a "no device found" error when i give any command in the command prompt and its like i cannot even do anything on my phone like flash a new recovery through fastboot or flash any rom. I mean my phone is literally not working. Can you guys tell me what to do because I have been through many threads here and none of them have helped me maybe because I am an amateur.
I really want my phone to work and I have been trying for the past 3 days and no luck at all :crying:
Thanks

Make sure you have all the correct drivers installed on your pc.
when you plug your phone in bootloader and then fastboot
it should say fastboot usb on your phone
if you have adb and fastboot it should recognise it then, you can flash recovery
try the command
fastboot getvar cid
and see if it comes back with your cid then you will know its working
failing that you can restore it back to stock using an RUU.
ive added some drivers for you.
put them in a folder on your desktop,
Go to fastboot andif your pc cannot find you a driver automatically , then go to device manager, and look for your device then right click and click update. then browse for driver manually and select the folder on your desktop, worked for me
Do You open the command prompt exactly in the folder where the adb drivers are? Left shift+ right click on the folder where the adb files are. Then "open the command prompt here".
Try to command: "fastboot devices" and look what it says

Hey thank you for the helpful reply much appreciated. The usb driver is fine as it says "My HTC" so thats fine. I relocked my phone through fastboot somehow that worked yay! But its weird the fastboot commands work but not adb is there something wrong i am doing, whenever i type any adb command it comes with "no device found error." Plus when I flashed clockwork recovery through fastboot commands it says its successful but it doesnt go there it goes back to the cm10 boot loop. Im guessing because adb is not working or something it must be because of that.

Yes with fastboot its working i get my HTC device but not with adb. Whats the difference anyway im sorry i am a noob so I dont know but I think its important to have adb working or I can't run any recovery right because with fastboot I can flash a recovery but the recovery won't start.
Adb is just a tool which allows the phone to communicate with the computer. If you have rooted your phone you must have it in your computer. It should be in place where you installed SDK drivers. SDK/platform-tools/.

Okay so I managed to get adb working too. Thanks guys but now i flashed CWM Recovery which works and tried to flash CM10 Alpha 11 but again its stuck in the CM10 loading screen. I guess I should now get my stock RUU and install that because I cannot get any custom rom to boot, am I right? That means relocking the phone and getting the stock recovery image. I need to know which stock recovery image to download is it the 1.29.401.7 or 1.29.401.11? I am pretty much guessing the 1.29.401.11 recovery image. And my stock Radio is 2.1204.135.20 which is the European model because I used to get OTA updates before I started rooting and stuff. And I need to be careful if I am doing the correct installation.

Wow thank you so much! You are a life saver I didn't know something so simple I missed out on and when I had been getting instructions from devs to flash custom roms, they didn't even tell us to even flash boot.img or maybe I was thinking it was not important. Wow thank you so much! CM 10 Alpha 11 is working properly and now I learnt a lesson to flash boot.img.
On a final note, if I want my stock RUU radio back, do I need to get boot, img from anywhere or am I fine. What is boot.img anyways?
Again, Thanks everyone I really appreciate it.

Phone stuck in htc logo while rooting

Hello.
I try root my htc One X international, i unlock bootloader, then i use r3 endeavour insecurebootandroot , and in a middle of rooting cmd on my computer just shut off, and phone stuck on htc logo, since then i can't turn it on , all i can do is use power and volume down, i try factory reset, didn't help, phone still stuck on htc logo, when i try recovery, i get phone lay on back, with red triangle on it.
please, can anyone know how to fix it ? htc always was pain in ass to root, but this time i stuck. Many threads are similar, but mostly people stuck after they already rooted and flash rom, i don't go that far, not sure phone is even rooted, but bootloader is unlocked so far.

Mate, it sounds like your system is wiped, so the phone can't boot. Do you have any experience with fastboot and ADB commands?
If so, download a custom recovery (CWM, or TWRP, or Phil'z touch - recommended), place it in your fastboot folder, and type:
fastboot flash recovery downloadedrecoveryname.img in CMD window.
This wil enable you to use custom recovery.
Hopefully, you already have a custom ROM which you want to install. Extract boot.img from the ROM.zip, and place it in your fastboot older, and type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img in CMD window, followed by fastboot erase cache.
Then, reboot to your recovery, and flash ROM.zip (I guess you don't need any specific instructions for that).

No, mate.
The ROM.zip goes to your sd card.
You can copy it through recovery, but mounting sd card.
In recovery you have all these options. Also, in ROM's thread (whichever you chose to flash) there is thorough instruction how to flash ROM.
