Xperia Arc S - completely dead...Please help. - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It was previously working fine, but is now completely dead.
It has never been modified/rooted etc etc. Always just running normal stock.
No vibration when I press the power button, nothing.
Any ideas how to fix, what it could be?
Thanks.

Update Service no longer offers that option (at least not for me). PC Companion is now to be used to repair phone firmware.

It features battery?
Have you tried to remove and replace the battery?
Try downloading some FTF rom format and make the flash through Flashtools.
There is an option that allows you to flash the kernel too. Check it!
Here you will find the rom you need:

I think this will solve!

[Firmware] Xperia S - Stock SG-Generic - 6.1.A.0.452 {1257-6921}

I just packed up Android v4.0.4 (6.1.A.0.452) Generic Singapore to an FTF.
Download from: Here!
Filename: LT26i_6.1.A.0.452_SG-Generic-(1257-6921).ftf.7z
(Use 7-Zip program to unpack)
MD5: fff2dbc63b59394bedfff82b35b0c81f
Size: 331 MB (347,666,090 bytes)
NO ROOT REQUIRED, NO BOOTLOADER UNLOCK REQUIRED, WILL NOT VOID WARRANTY
You can flash this without losing any data!
If you uncheck the "wipe userdata" box in Flashtool before flashing, you will not lose any data. You can convert from any customization to this one without any problems!
To flash this, follow the following steps:
For starters, make sure you have the latest Flashtool installed. If you have issues with Flashtool, make sure you also have PC Companion or Sony Update Service installed.
Download the .ftf file to your computer and place it in the Flashtool\Firmwares folder.
Open Flashtool and click the lightning bolt in the menu bar.
Select Flashmode and click OK
Select the right firmware in the left column (LT26i_6.1.A.0.452_SG-Generic-(1257-6921).ftf).
Check or uncheck "Wipe User Data". If selected, all user data will be deleted. If you want to update or change customization without losing data, uncheck it.
Click OK and wait for the instruction to unplug the device, ...
Turn your phone OFF, and plug it in while keeping the volume down button pressed.
Follow the steps in the main window of Flashtool, wait until the flashing is done.
Note: I'm providing this as it is and I'm not responsible if something goes wrong! Flash it at your own risk!!

thanks for the file....anyone knows if there are any differences between the sg version vs the ch generic versions? (app wise....which stock apps can be removed with root)???

Hey, does this version have any of the known issues? like the re-draw issue? I'm on the CH version right now. Thanks!

If you haven't wiped before, then you can try this to wipe and reinstall. Basically it's should be the same.

It's seems the same, with couple of extra apps that can be removed. Many apps can be disabled without root.

No lag if you do a factory reset and format the sd card in any firmware.

I see, but did you have the redraw issue with the CH ICS? If going to the SG ICS will eliminate that issue, I'm definitely up for going though the wipe/formatting process again.

Yes, few times I experienced re-draws, but so far I've not experienced it in this firmware. But I don't think there is any difference in the firmware itself.
Previously I flashed the CH without wipe and experienced lot of issues, then I flashed with wipe and the issues reduced, now I've flashed this firmware the official way (went back to my own GB and then upgraded using the PC Companion).
Good luck .
can power saving and neo reader app be removed in this SG Generic ICS rom without root? I am on CH ICS version now and these are the two stock apps that i wouldn't be able to remove. tks!
I experience some lagging from CH and HK even with full wipe specially phone and Go sms. I will try SG next and hope I don't have this problem otherwise ICS is great.
I don't have lag issue with the CH version. Redraw is rare, maybe you should state if you have lots of widget or resized widget so that we can narrow down the problem.
I have few widget, none of them resized, I don't have redraw issue. I say rare previously because that time I was trying other launcher. That is the time I got it.

Nope. I believe they can be disabled, but I haven't try yet.
I wonder if any of the issues so far is caused by having an unlocked bootloader.

[Q] [Please Help] Weird battery issues - Xperia Arc

Hello everyone,
I've decided to get help trying to fix my Xperia Arc which has weird battery issues.
I tried so many things trying to fix it that I don't now what to try/where to look for an answer. So, I decided to ask you guys for help.
The problem started this summer, I updated my phone with the official ICS update, and after that, battery life went from average to awful.
I have, at the moment, a battery consumption of around 20% per hour, and it doesn't change whether I'm using the phone or not.
I have tried the following things :
- New battery : same problem
- New kernel rom => Tried different kernels (arcknight/stock ...) and different custom roms => same problem
- Re-locking the bootloader and flashing stock 2.3 => same issue
- Installed software to check what was using the battery : nothing stood out.
So now I don't know what to do, I'm at loss. When I was running custom roms I always remembered to delete the battery stats once the battery was full, didnt help.
Also, I thing the problem is the battery sensor ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Vincent.

ICS requires you to restart your phone after every time you charge it. Bug in the firmware.
If still dropping too fast - Then it has to be some of your settings, that you use, either a sync or GPS or something.
have you wipe battery stat in cwm?

1.
Revert to stock. Relock your bootloader. Repair phone with pc companion.
2.
Check your battery. Take it out and study it. Is it deformed, swollen or anything?
3. (OPTIONAL)
Clean battery pins on phone and battery with aftershave
4.
Get a new battery
Cheers guys for the answers. I tried everything you guys recommended and yup same problem
I'm sending it in for repairs and hopefully they'll fix it.

[Q] Lose GSM signal and does not regain (ACRO S)

Hi there,
I have an Acro S and absolutely love the hardware couldn't wish for any better. :good:
However I have an issue I am struggling with right now. At my workplace I get patchy signal with my carrier (Orange/EE in the UK). I'm ok with this but lately when I go to a part of the building where I lose signal, the phone never recovers signal again, it just shows "Emergency Calls Only" and needs either re-booting or airplane mode on and off again to recover signal.
Is this something anyone else has seen and is it likely to be a software issue or a hardware issue?
I've looked in the settings and I am running software version 6.1.A.2.50 which I think is the latest.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix as my wife is pregnant and I'd hate to miss an important phone call because of this!
In my view, this problem must be connected to which ROM you are using
with refrence to my experience, I get so many issuses like this..
Firmly suggest you change your ROM and try again XD

Thanks for the advice, however I am using the standard Sony ROM and there doesn't appear to be an update available. I'm tempted to root the phone and install one of the ROMs in the development section here but I use the Barclays Mobile app and find it very useful and that won't work on a rooted phone.
Do you have an Acro S if so which ROM are you using?

You can do a Repair using PC Companion...But before you do, backup all your settings/apps in the internal memory as it will factory reset your phone all the way back...So just do full backup using " Backup & Restore " first, then connect to pc and hit Repair using PCC

So via PC companion I have now installed the latest firmware 6.1.A.2.55. Let's see if this fixes it. Hopefully it will otherwise it's a reset and re-install of everything (Painful!)

i have considered that, and want to avoid that. but i guess no other way then.. thanx fos helping.
I think there is a problem with system partition. So you should system repair by Xperia Companion.
If you have rooted device firstly relock bootloader before system repair otherwise Companion wouldnt accept device to repair.
Or you can flash stock rom by using Flashtool. but be careful about FSC scripts.

I could solve it removing the notification site from Chrome, from menu setting Chrome, web site setting, Notifications and bloqued all sites except Google, then the issue will desapire
