Notification LED while charging? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Does anyone know how I can get the notification LED to flash when I have a notification while it is charging? The LED emits a green light continuously while charging which is unfortunate. I tried playing around with LiteFlow to see if I could get it to flash while charging but had no luck.
Anyone have any luck with LiteFlow or other apps?

you might try a flashlight app like this one... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jug6ernaut.utl.flnotifier&hl=en
this might work as well... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify&hl=en

I used a combination of tasker and noLED so noLED will only activate while charging. This is a decent solution for now.
I am just curious if there is a way to do this without NoLED. If I could somehow disable the charging LED in tasker or somehow get the notification LED to pulse when charging to indicate a notification.
Thanks for your help though!

ViperOne ROM has a tweak to enable Notification LED to flash while charging, plus a tweak to make the Flashlight on the back flash as often and as fast as you want, instead (some who work in noisy environments really love that!).

I found a thread last night that explained how to do this with tasker. It works perfectly. I'll see if I can find it.

How to disable your charging/notification lights using Tasker
Download the two attached files and place them in "/tasker/tasks/"
Open Tasker, click on the Tasks tab and then click the tab again to import. Select the two scripts and import.
Now you can create a profile that happens during a certain time, say 11pm-8am. Use 'Disable Lights' as your task and 'Enable Lights' as your exit task.
If you want to also disable your Button Backlights, create a Run Shell task under Tasker and enter this command
Code:
chmod 0333 /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness; echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness
Until Someone figures out the code to reenable the backlights, you can reboot the phone to revert them back to normal.

Cm10 has this. Green led when charging and then green with flashing orange when there's a notification.

Thanks mate .
One more question tho - i have set up the mod for charging battery : notif light lights up and stays on all the time while battery is charging.. Can this do any harm to led light or phone itself (heating etc)? Or it is intended so it can stay on for long time ?
I had light flow on my galaxy nexus. Although the features are nice, i uninstalled because it seemed very broken. The led would stay on evwn after i checked notifications and so forth. Yeah it was cool, but just didnt see the risk of burning out my led.
For me it works like charm .. But only think i want to know is this :
Can led stay up for longer time ? Like, for example, the HTC Sensations led is staying up for all time while you are charging (by default), and it doesnt burn out. So is GN led designed to stay up for long time, or no ? (Im asking this because i want to know if i can charge the phone whole night and have led turned up)
Thanks again folx
Yes it can! Start LightFlow, choose notifications"then pick the app of your choice. There you can able and enable (amongst many other options) the duration of how long you wish the led to stay on for that particular app.

LED's have a life of many thousands, if not, tens of thousands of hours. It's unlikely that the notification LED will ever burn out while you own that phone... Unless you keep the phone for six or seven years and keep the led on almost all the time!
If your led burns out consider it akin to winning the lottery.

Thank you all. ! I really like multi colored led.. I liked it on n900 (back in the old days).. I like it again I simply like when im charging the phone to have my led on all the time
Thanks folx
Ive let mine to constantly show an orange light while i leave the phone on charge overnight and a green when it is charged. Led's wont die on you unless you keep your led on for like 6years straight, so nothing to worry about

Yeh I found the same thing, seemed really broken to me, was so annoying to get rid of notifications and then still have the led going off.
Guys just a quick question. I think this led is three colors right? Red, blue, and green and to get other colors it just mixes them right?
If you guys use colors other than those three I mentioned do you guys kind of obviously see that theres more then one color shining?
Like for purple it looks like purple on top and redish on bottom. Clearly like two colors.
Anyone? Just wanna know if its how others have it or just me??

Sure it does
I have Light Flow set up to show a solid yellow color while charging. When I plug in my phone, the LED blinks on then off. If I turn the screen off, the yellow light cones on like it should. If I then turn the screen on without unlocking the phone, the light remains.
Only after I unlock the phone does the LED not function.

I found that problem was because of the ROM I was on. Some ROMS would need me to launch the lightflow app to clear the notification, but I use CND and it works exactly like it is supposed to. I could flash AOKP and it would work how you describe.
Does it have any kind of effect on battery life? Seems like it would keep the phone awake.

Control the LED notification light!

[APP][ROOT][1.6-4.0] ButtonLED
EDIT: I figured out that we can actually control the LED notification light with this app now. Instead of using the file for the capacitive buttons, just substitute it for one of the LED files.
Green - /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/led:green/brightness
Red - /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/led:red/brightness
Remember to also enable it in Accessibility! It still doesn't work well for any time less than 1 second, but I don't feel like that's a huge deal.
If you want to use the button LED, you can still use that file as well.
Since the OG's notification light (or frequency) is shameful to say the least, I just discovered this app today and it's sooooo handy for our phones even though it was meant for phones with no LED at all. Basically, it uses the capacitive buttons as a notification light.
Download the HDPI version and install it.
When you first open it, you have to tell it where the button backlight file is since it's different on every phone. Ours is located at /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/button-backlight/brightness.
Lastly, scroll down in the main menu to where it says "Enable ButtonLED in accessibility" and click on it. It'll take you to the system accessibility settings where you just have to toggle it on.
It took me a little while of playing with the settings to get it working how I wanted, and you can do the same. I have noticed a few issues here and there, but overall it works pretty great. One thing I found was that if you try to set the LED on time to anything less than 1 second, it just does a real quick flash, regardless of what length you chose. Personally, I like 1 second on, 1 second off.

Have you noticed any change in battery life? Reading the developer's posts, when the notification lights are active the phone doesn't sleep.

No difference so far, but I don't think that I've had a notification that I haven't seen and cleared within five minutes. I'd be interested to see what the drain is if it goes unmonitored for a couple of hours.

I can't even get this app to let me change where the led is located. How did you get it to work?
Edit: never mind I simply had to update my busy box version
BTW: I love you for finding this app
LOL, nevermind, nice find!

Not with this app unfortunately. You can either tell it to use the green color or the "red" (orange) color for the LED and that's it.
Works on stock kernel?
Is this supposed to work with stock ZVC kernel?
Test works, and the logs show that ButtonLED detects and processes my notifications, but it won't light the led.
I tried everything, what he says here too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37134835&postcount=338
But terminal gave me an error creating the path.
does that means it's not supported?

[Q] LED frequency

Has anyone figured out how to change the LED frequency without downloading apps like LED flow? I am looking for something like a build.prop mod.
Thanks

Also looking for it. Looks like it flashes every 20 seconds. You have to watch your phone to see that it had received a message or something.

Literally just got done setting up Light Flow - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite&hl=en
You have to enable it under Settings>Security>Notification Access. Then disable it under Settings>Accessibility>Services. Enable LED in Settings>Display>Notification light, and click on Notification light and uncheck all EXCEPT downloads apps.
Kind of a pain but worth it because you can set custom vibrate patterns, LED flash frequency and color

I've just attempted this and no go.
1. Went to Settings>Security>Notification Access and enabled Lite Flow Lite.
2. Went to Settings>Accessibility>Services and ensured Lite Flow Lite is OFF
3. Went to Settings>Display>Notification LED and turned off all the apps (incoming call, missed calls, etc..) Does the Parent "Notification LED" have to be ON or OFF?
4. In Lite Flow, changed Gmail to Blue
5. Ran the test feature: No LED appeared.
6. Turned off screen and sent an email to my phone. NO LED appeared.
Anything I missed?

Hey, thank you for the instructions as I looked everywhere for how to get LightFlow to work on my G3. I really appreciate this.

notification led not working any more

guys, i didnt get the exact moment when it stopped working and can only speculate about what caused it, but my notification led isnt working any more. nothing triggers it. not whatsapp, not gmail...
is there any way to test it or tune it without relying on third party apps?
im on stock taimen with flash kernel, systemless xposed and gravity box.
thanks!
I dont think it ever has??? Isn't that why we have always on display and dont need notification light?
It definitely works. I use the app Light Flow - LED Control to customize my LED. Maybe try that app with charging light and see if it turns on when charging. Make sure you have blink light turned on in apps and notifications --> notifications --> Blink light.

How did you enable it using EX kernel manager?
I've tried this. It doesn't blink. Within the software, the Charging LED doesn't have a blink option, only solid.
I'd personally set the LED to only be on when I've missed a call or text since I don't care about emails.
Yes, I remember it being the same way on the G7 Power, and then I found out that it had a LED by installing one of the custom roms which had taken the time to add some custom features allowing full control of it. If it can be solid, it can also blink, it's just a matter of programming it that way, perhaps a developer could figure it out.
