Purchased a Lg optimus g 793 version from bell network in canada about a week ago , got the unlock code , everything worked just fine , as phone does connect to the Rogers network now. But it almost constantly is dropping its network connection , even with full bars. Even when connect to the network the phone does not get internet access.
Not really sure whats going on with the phone as i've gone through the settings a dozen times now to make sure i've done things corrently.
The network is set to automatic , the 2g only button is not clicked, etc etc.
About ready to give up on the thing, figured i'd give it a shot and come here and see if anyone here has any ideas.
Appreciate any help.

ok well as no one answered the question , yet i figured out what was wrong , i will share what was going on .
Ended up going to a local Rogers store , seeing if it was the phone internals having issues or the sim card .
Ended up that the unlock of the phone wipes all the carrier information off the phone , hence the constant connect to service , disconnect from service.
So if you unlock your phone , just remember you might need to change some of the carrier settings on the phone , and might be a good idea just to take it down to the store and get it setup as it cost me nothing to do , other side of the cost of the unlock in the first place.
Hope this help someone in the future.
Unlocking by code should not affect anything. It's either the sim or the network settings.

Hi everybody,
I have a big problem with my phone (or with my sim card).
Since 2 days, and without touching anything, my phone has a lot of difficulty to connect the Network that I'm registered to (Orange).
I'd got some connection problems like these ones :
- "Your sim card doesn't allow you to connect this network"
- When activating the 3G it stays on "activating" (even if I reboot the system and pull out the battery for few seconds)
- Non-send messages
So I decided to wipe all data and reinstall. It worked…but…the next day it restarts..!!
Do you think it's caused by an app or by rooting the phone with xtc-clip ?
My specs :
- S-OFF
- Rooted
- RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe
PS : the RUU has been installed with the sim card inside the phone of course.
Installing ruu with sim in shouldn't be a problem.
Easiest thing would be try another sim before deciding what to do next mate.
Thanks for replying.
In fact my phone network works again since I've created the topic but I don't know at all how ..
I've tried my girlfriend's SIM yesterday but it is a blackberry one and I don't why my phone doesn't accept it to register .. I will try again or use a friend SIM this week end.
BTW does your 3g connection make about 5sec to be activated ? Before the problem appears in 1/2 sec I've got the 3g. Now it's more, but it works.
This is not an APN problem 'cause they're all OK and for messages it's not a problem from message center since it's OK.
So I am always wondering how the phone could have this behavior without any changes.
If it makes the same again, I will call my operator to know more about it and will make a feedback here.
It could well be network/operator related maybe they have a problem.
Anyway main thing is your back up and working again.
The problem isn't resolved unhopefully... It doesn't work at home .. Sometimes yes, and the rest of the time no network (even if I got all the bars of the network and the Edge Logo) and I can't do anything.
I called the operator yesterday, they say my SIM card was defective so I went to the operator's shop and they changed the SIM card.
But back at home, it doesn't work again .. And now I'm at my job's office and it works again ..
So I conclude that there is a network problem in my block of flats ?
I will call back them tonight to see what they tell to me and will make a feedback here.
Also I tried to swap phone, the same problem with my old Sony Ericsson.
I put my SIM in my girlfriend's Blackberry (network used to work for her), and it does'nt work. Then when she puts back her SIM card, she had no network as me...
So could it be a hack of SIM card to prevent you having network at home ? (it could seem a lil bit paranoiac I know ^^)

I don't think so mate.
More probable is that the mast that provides data that is closest to your home is at fault.
I would just make sure to report it and I'm sure others will have issues, so your provider should investigate and provide a solution.

I called the network provider, they say they will call me tomorrow for me to talk with a technician.
BTW my girlfriend called them earlier and they say this is a problem due to the residence.
I tried to ask them if there is a problem with the mast, they said it seems to be normal and network works well in my area...
But the network is fine out.. In the appartment it works about 10/15mins per hour ...
For the "SIM Hack" suggestion I told you, do you think this is possible ? (I doubt because no problem out ..)
Let's wait and see ! If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate !
Thanks for the support though !
Edit : always all the bars of network and E logo just sending, not receiving when it doesn't work.
Maybe your building is a blackspot meaning signal is not passing through happens to me indoors with wifi.
And where I live in a small village I can't get a good data signal indoors.
I have to turn off 3g altogether and opt for 2g only as it gives me better call signal.
But if I walk for 10 mins towards town I can switch to 3g and its perfect.
I would just wait to speak to the tech guys and see what they say.
Oh and forgot to mention my operator reduced my monthly bill due to my poor signal, haha.
Good luck hope they sort it for you.
If not try a different network sim just as a test.
The strange fact is that it used to work perfect in the building.
There are problems for about 4 days now.
When I forced 3G using "WCDMA only", it seems the signal was better and not blocked on E/G.
And now I turned it back to Auto and it works .. I don't understand what the **** is happening... !! It comes back to 3G/H.. but sometimes it fails again ..
I will wait for the tech guys, and if it's not solvable I guess I would ask for a commercial act such as yours !
Moreover this week, friends will come so we will see if they've got network (I believe they're at the same network provider, no luck ^^) .. !
Thanks for your support again mate, really appreciated !
My phone just started doing the same thing. Its a stock phone.
Finally nobody called me back but the network came back so no more problem now.. How ?? I simply don't know .. Good job "Orange".. !
Thanks for support though
Hey xda-dev.
I recently rooted my phone and did a carrier unlock through the dial code method.
I'm currently in the US travelling, and even though I paid for a unlimited text/call US and Canada, I get a "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" and now, there's just a circle with a line through it at the top where the signal bars should be.
I will be in the US for another 4 days or so, and I need a way to get my phone to start working because I need to get ahold of friends and people at home while I'm travelling.
Is there any way to reset to default on the service menu? What is wrong with this even? I have no idea how to troubleshoot this whatsoever.
There is nothing wrong with your phone. Who is your carrier? It's probably the fact your carrier does not have any roaming agreement in place where you are.

You'd have to allow roaming. You can call Rogers about it, one thing though, unlimited text/call US & Canada can mean from your city. Once in the US, you're not on Rogers towers anymore, therefor, you get roaming fees.

It's not your service, It's your phone. I noticed this the other day when I went to the states too, but I forgot to make sure that I automatically roamed to the right network.
Try this.... Go to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators | Searching | -> Automatic
As soon as you go into the Network Ops it will start to search to see what's available around you. Make sure after you've searched its set to Automatic. That way when you are out and about, It will go to whatever network the sim card is in your phone it will choose that one first, but if it can't find that one it will go to the next best thing.
I did the same thing myself when I moved to Vegas for 2 months... I unlocked my sim and put in a T-Mobile card in...
If that doesn't solve the problem, then your phone wasn't unlocked fully. Reason why I say this is I work for Rogers/Fido and have seen this issue a few times other than doing it personally myself.

Hi there guys,
i have an lg g3 D852 canadian model
am not able to get LTE on that phone only E almost the time sometimes goes to G then gets right back to E
and sometimes it goes on LTE but very rare.
im really tired of calling my carrier and spending hours on phone without fixing my pb.
ive tried everything, like the APN, settings, repalced sim card and nothing changed, still having E (EDGE)
is anyone can help me plz
ill be appreciated and very thankful
Google and search for your model hidden menu cose..
Hidden menu>Lte only>modem setting>RAT selection>Lte only....done
But remember that if your carrier is not have lte network in any area your mobile also not pick network as it will only pick lte network
hello everyone
so i've recently bought lg g3 phone model LGLS990
everything works just fine until i go into mobile networks and change the preferred network to LTE
when i do that i lose my phone signal and all i can do is emergency calling, it's like there is no sim card inserted anymore
and when that happens i can't even change the preferred network to gsm again
but before i've done that i could've used phone for calling and messaging and internet but internet wastes my credit tho i've got a data plan and it's way too slow
i think this is related to my threat each time i turn on the phone a dialog box appears says: "hands free activation contacting network"
a couple of seconds then it fails and there is an option that says activate when ever i click it, it tries to reach my mobile network provider i suppose but then it fails too showing this message: "Sorry - we experienced a system problem during your task. please dial *2 from your Sprint phone or call Customer Care at 1-888-211-4727 from another phone to complete your task."
**im pretty sure that the sim is okay since i use it on my old galaxy s3 phone and i use 3g just fine
**i've tried to change the preferred network to all of the options listed
**i bought it new but the seal wasn't on the box tho it couldn't be used i guess since the screen sticker was on it
**the one i bought it from have brought it from another country but it's not shown that the phone is locked, i've never used a phone with a locked sim so i really don't know how is it like :/
**when ever i open sim toolkit i find the network provider's name there but when i click on it it keeps loading and nothing happens
**the android version is kitkat 4.4.2
sorry for any language mistake and sorry for my modest knowledge
please reply asap so i can try to contact the guy i bought the device from and try to get back my money if it's unsolvable issue
thanks in advance
Hello everyone, first of all I would like to apologize because I am French and I don't speak English very well, but I think you are my last hope for the trouble I am currently experiencing.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975F) with a Rom Surcouche Operator Bouygues Telecom :
- N975FXXU4CTE9/N975FBOG4CTE9/N975FXXU4CTE9
I wanted to remove my Bouygues Telecom Rom Operator to install a Samsung Rom Stock without any overlayer operator. The operation is well finished so I am now on the Samsung Rom Stock:
- N975FXXS6DTI5/N975FOXM6DDTH7/N975FXXS6DTI5
Except that since this change of Rom I have almost no more 4G+ where I live knowing that before I was always in 4G+ So I would like to know why just by having changed the Rom I lost my 4G+. ( Worries which lasts since September 21st, 2020 ) I wanted to go back but I passed from a bootloader 4 to a bootloader 6
Knowing that I'm with the Free operator, I tested my Free SIM card in my wife's Samsung, I'm getting 4G+ so the problem is not my SIM card, I also sent my phone to Samsung, the phone has no hardware anomaly so it's from the change of Rom, I tried to reinstall the same problem, I also made the wipe I tried everything ...
I also have at home a 4G+ router with a 4G+ plan with the operator Free and I am in 4G+ at full speed ...
I hope to get some help from you because on the French forums I don't have a single answer ... Thanks in advance for your help and sorry again for my english
Test the internet speed on both phones using your sim's data plan with speedtest. If the speed is the same in both then the problem of the 4G indicator is only aesthetic.
Hello bigcalvin, unfortunately I have tested but the speed is not the same at all in 4G+ I go up to 235Mb/s while in H+ I go up to 3Mb/s so there is no problem with the 4G indicator

Have you tried in different areas? What it seems like, is that the stock Samsung ROM is not compatible with your carrier. With system on a chip (SoC), carriers can turn off bands that they don't need, or as a means of locking you into their network.
Sent from my SM-N976V using Tapatalk
Honestly I'm not going to lie to you I've tried everything I've tried a Bouygues télécom rom (bog) a SFR rom (sfr) a France télécom rom (ftm) and a Samsung stock France rom (xef) with my old Bouygues télécom rom (bog) bootloader 4 I always get the 4G+ since I changed my rom and I switched to bootloader 6 I never get the 4G/4G+ again and I sometimes get the 4G+ logos but there are 10 seconds left and then switch to the H+. ..
Hello, sorry for the double post but I don't know where to find help you wouldn't have a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance
I don't understand anything anymore on this phone knowing that my wife and at free and I can receive the 4g very well. I have a 4g router, I can receive the 4g free and my phone since the update doesn't receive anything anymore, I have to go out of my house and walk a good 100 meters to hope to receive the 4g whereas I didn't have this problem before I made the really strange update...
No one would have a solution to give me or manipulation to do I take all the information.
Try a "reset network settings" if you haven't already.
Clear the system cache on the boot menu; it never hurts to do so.
Hi, thank you for your answer unfortunately I have already reset the network settings I have also done the factory settings system cache also reinstallation of a new rom I had to do it about twenty times but still nothing :/

Yeah pretty basic stuff... that's all I got
Most likely a settings issue but you probably know more than myself at this point to troubleshoot this problem.
Try doing Google searches and view the results for other Samsung phone models and years.
Most times I can find a solution like this or trip over it as an indirect result while searching.
Some of the Samsung software issues have been around for years...
I've already searched everything on google I'm French I've searched on English forums and everything but I can't find anything at all.
I am in France with the mobile operator "Free" which uses the frequencies 700mhz/1800mhz/2600mhz I would like to know if there is a possibility on this phone to choose the frequency that I want one by one I have the impression that it is my 700mhz frequency that has a problem on my phone :/
By using the free App 'Shortcut Master (Lite) from Google Play, you can get access to the Network Settings. In there you can make Band Selection, allowing you to test network connections and performance per band (=frequency) or combinations of bands.
See following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...guide-hidden-network-settings-exynos-t3995501
Hope this helps!
Hello OnnoJ, unfortunately I have already tested with this application so it doesn't work. However I compared everything with my wife's phone a Samsung so I have exactly the same settings as on her phone ...
I have to go out of my house and walk a good 200 meters to hope to get 4G, however I specify that before I made this famous update I was always in 4G at home inside and outside of the house and this is not a concern of the mobile operator because otherwise my wife would have exactly the same problem as I have now and I would also have exactly the same problem on my 4G router ...
I think I've done everything and above all I've tested everything and unfortunately I had Samsung on the phone and they put the blame on the operator whereas as explained above my 4G router and my wife's phone have exactly the same mobile operator so they would have the same problem as me ... ...
I would try to revert to the newest firmware that your carrier uses, just to see if the issue is about the bands, search for the latest firm for your carrier, provided that it is of an equal or higher bootloader version to the one you currently have installed, that is what I would do
@thominekevin76000.
Not saying it may help you, but the application works fine for me to access network settings. I use it all the time, as it helps me at home and at work to make the optimum band selection for that specific location to prevent hopping between different cell towers and to have a stable and fastest possible 4G+ connection. CellMapper app allows me to see connection possibilities with the various cell towers and their power.
Hello winol, I can't go back to my old Rom because I had a bootloader of 4 and now I switched to a bootloader of 6 so I can't go back :/)
