I was setting my overclock with setcpu and it shut down my galaxy gio, and when it rebooted it just kept on the blue circle of cyanogen mod.
I already flashed stock and it would keep on something like the blue circle of cyanogen mod. I flashed cyanogenmod a couple of times too. Already partitioned my sd card again and i already wiped everything a couple of times too...
Someone help, i have readed like hundreds of posts and nothing seems to work
When i flashed stock i used a flashable cwm recovery, because odin dont detect my gio.
Flash stock rom and than go into stock recovery and wipe everything.
Hit thanks if I help

Try to flash the stock rom with odin, and when the infinite boot starts, enter in the recovery and wipe everything!
This should solve your problem :victory:

I'm also having the same issue
(Also im a newbie this was my first attempt at any flashing etc.)
installed signed_cwm-5.0.2.7-flashablezip-ext4only.zip
then installed Jelly Bread v5.0
was ok for a while and working but then i wanted to play with other ROMS (in this case i now wanted to try cm-10.1.4-GT-S5660-gio++.zip)
I enter recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe batt stats
Then install cm-10.1.4-GT-S5660-gio++.zip
Then it hung for 35mins at loading blue circle screen.
I then took battery out and enter recovery, and attempt to wipe data/fatory reset and it says:
--Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/stl13
Formatting /Cache...
Formatting /sd-ext...
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Formatting /sdcard/ .android secure...

Yes I only use that CWM nothing more.
Maybe is damage. Becqau format he system I can do with any CWM onçy wipe the dalvik cache isn't possible.
So if you can do nothing for sure you have a hardware problema.
That happen's when your try put a custom ROM or the phone broken and after you try to solve it.

It gives you the option to do so under advanced, but when you wipe it it doesn't give you confirmation that it wiped.

This is why many roms suggest using AR instead of clockwork, and why most times when you have an issue with a ROM, and say you already wiped, the first question you'll generally get is "did you wipe with clockwork or AR?"

So, don't use clockwork? Switch to AR in ROM Manager?
Or use CW through Recovery instead of through ROM Manager, at least until you have problems. I never have, and I've flashed plenty of ROMs, kernels, radios, etc. Even tested to see if dalvik was wiping correctly, and it was. But nobody cares about my anecdotal evidence, and there may be some issues that I've just dodged.
Regardless, there are several threads about this already.

Doesn't mean it's not happening. But it also doesn't mean it's not not happening, either. All it means is that it's not confirming whether it is or isn't wiping, but it may or may not be wiping and just not telling you that it did. Or didn't.
ClockworkMod DOES indeed wipe the dalvik cache. I think the reason why many people are confused is that it only takes a second or two for the dalvik cache to wipe on CWM, whereas it takes longer on RA. However, the reasoning behind this is simple- most people wipe the cache partition before wiping the dalvik cache. When you wipe the cache partition, you are wiping everything on that partition, including the dalvik cache. So in essence, when people go to the Advanced menu in CWM to directly wipe the dalvik cache, they are essentially wiping a blank folder.
If you don't believe me, try this:
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Go to the CWM partitions menu and mount the cache partition
3. adb shell
4. cd /cache/dalvik-cache
5. Type "ls-a" and note all the files.
6. Exit adb shell
7. Wipe the cache partition in CWM
8. adb shell
9. cd /cache
10. Type "ls-a". This time there should be no dalvik-cache directory.

I posted this exact test and result a couple of weeks ago, with the same reasoning. People don't care, they believe what they want to believe.
It would be at least compelling if somebody from the other camp would post proof that CWM does NOT wipe their dalvik cache.

Other camp is always anecdotal. "I couldn't flash xxx Rom after wiping with clockwork, but I switched to AR, wiped, and was able to flash perfectly". Hell, I'm one of them, was only able to flash BS once I switched over to AR.

I had the same issue
Did you created an SD-Ext Partition on your SD-Card? Without the Lockscreen and some other things won't work, since they are stored on SD-Ext
I have made an sd-ext partition but i still have no lockscreen! is there any workaround or solution?
I have the same issue. I first installed AceSMod007 (v34) with out creating a ext4 partition, and got a lot of low storage message. I then wiped the SD card and created the FAT32, swap and ext4 partitions. Did a factory reset from Recovery and flashed the AceSMod007 zip again. Everything seems to be working now except for the lock screen?
Did I need to wipe something else before flashing again?
EDIT:
BTW, there's no lockscreens available in the settings...
what mean the lockscreen doesn't work? Is there no lockscreen? or u can't unlock ur phone?
There's no lockscreen. When I press the power button it just show the status bar and the background image and nothing more. I can unlock by press the track button. If I go to the settings to change the lockscreen, there's none installed.

if the app2sd its working correctly, then is ok
but if the first time u installed it without ext partition, then some part of the rom (like the lockscreen and some minor things) was not flashed!
should be enough only to wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash the rom again..
if at the next boot doesn't work, try a full wipe..wipe data/factory reset (u will lose ur settings and everything..make a nandroid just in case), cache and dalvik..and flash again..
edit: i think ur recovery is 2.5.0.7
When I select Wipe Dalvik Cache in the Recovery menu it says: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)

Hi!
Recently installed the RunnyMede AIO ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961
Problem is I get a lot of force closes, market, htc hub, htc likes, and so on.
Tried fix permission, still force close.
Thank you!
Make a full wipe before installing rom? Boot to recovery and wipe cache + dalvik-cache. Solves most FC-problems.
yes, factory reset/wipe, cache wipe, and dalvik cache wipe before install.
When wiping cache and dalvik cache, it's fine for a while. Then suddenly there is all sorts of force close.
Any idea?
I was having heaps of force closes too, check out my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362911
so far using a2sd+ instead of XD2SDX seems to have fixed it
Okey, I will try a2sd+.
But when using a2sd+ instead of XD2SDX, i get only very little internal memory, compared to XD2SDx. Only about 12 mb.
How do I solve this?
I used XD2SDX and have had no issues at all.. I am using the ROM as my daily ROM.. that's how stable it has been!
I did the usual stuff factory reset/wipe, cache wipe, and dalvik cache wipe before install.
Very strange.

That's not a FULL wipe, because you did not wipe /system. With factory reset only /data gets wiped. I recommend to wipe everything and flash again.
Tried reflashing with alpharev, but when I get to the third step, the livecd says "waiting for flashing to complete..."
And the phone says "Normal NAND detected. Non-PTV4".
And it just freezes there.

everything is still working fantastic for me since flashing cm7r2 hboot.
I flashed mine by just putting the zip file on my sdcard and renaming it to PB99IMG.zip as I had already s-off'd my hboot previously.
when i was trying out the stock hboot roms I always did a full format of
/boot
/cache
/data
/system
/sd-ext
and dalvik cache
I also flashed cm7 r2 hboot, and now all is working fine, excellent!

Do you know if you have the updated radio (v1.00.00.0928)? If so, then you need to know that there are only a select few ROMs and kernels that will work with the updated radio. If you also have the updated hboot (v1.57, I believe), then you're kinda stuck (like me). If it's older than that, then you can try to do the RUU process to revert back to the old radio.
Good luck!

This problem generally comes due to mismatch of kernel(boot.img or bootloader) and ROM. Check weather you are using correct kernel image or not.
U said u are wiping everything that's fine. But are you flashing a boot.img before installing custom ROM.??

i downloaded CM 10.1 RC 2 and attempted to flash and got the unlimited loader, so i went back into cwmod and whether it's flashing another rom, deleting cache using built in cache deletion, or using dark swipe cache deletion, it only ever performs the first action and freezes at that screen.
for example, 15 minutes ago i tried flashing SGH-T989_DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4.zip and all it has the screen has displayed for the past 15 minutes is:

using the "wipe cache partition" option shows:

and the screen stays on that until i take out the battery. any thoughts?

I think I am in the same boat as you, but with CMR v6.0.3.1. Bonus is I haven't figured out how to get my computer to see my phone on USB in order to reflash stock using Odin.
One thing my previous searches turned up is INFAMOUS super wipe, which I believe is what we need to use with CM10.1 rather than DARKSIDE. Can any more experienced people confirm or deny?
Thanks

While you are in download mode hook your phone up to the computer and see if it starts trying to download an odin driver or not. Mine did that one time for me. As soon as you go into download mode plug it in to see. If not redownload the adb drivers and while they are installing keep phone plugged in to usb. As far as darkside wipe you do not need that anymore and yes infamous wipe is better suited for your needs. In recovery can you access mount and storage option? if so, format data, format system. format cache, then flash new rom or recovery if possible. I do not ever dirty flash even though you can do it. I like to make sure every rom I install is clean so I always wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format data, format system, format cache, etc. Might seem like a lot to do but it always works for me.

While you are in download mode hook your phone up to the computer and see if it starts trying to download an odin driver or not. Mine did that one time for me. Apologies if I am hijacking the OP, maybe you can try these things too and tell us if you have different results?
Under mounts and storage, I was able to format /data and format /system, but the phone froze up while formatting cache:
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1

I am not using cwm 6.0.3.1 so I don't know. I use a custom cwm by sk8terwitskilhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/d5zpq8tg5sznegg/cwm6027touch_v14.4.6_hercules.zip
You cannot use Darkside Superwipe on CWM6. It is compatible with CWM5.

He has to re-flash a recovery with Odin. If that doesn't work, re-flashing a stock ROM with Odin will work.
It sounds like you have a problem with your USB port though, so I am not sure what you can do to fix your phone.
