You don't have to actually root but you need the OTA file that corresponds with your CID.
I suggest just doing this method if you honestly can't wait. It is pretty much the Stock Rom.

The link is in the post above, but you do know that by flashing the Rom you will not gain s off? If that is what you were meaning in the first post?

Hi I have a HOX and I rooted the phone and installed cyangenmod 10 but it started to bug out so I wanted to put my stock ROM back on but being the noob I am I forgot to back up my ROM I have found a stock 2.17.401.2 ROM but I want my original ROM for voda-hutch witch is 2.17.862.2 is there a way to get there or not thanks

I have downloaded that file be four but being the noon I am I don't no what to do with it and concitering that it is only 111mb it seems a little to small to be a ROM or ruu is there a way to install or something thanks

To receive the OTA you need stock ROM. If you just installed SuperSU, that's fine.
To install OTA you need stock recovery.
wht ota ?? yes i have supersu and i can go to recovey but wht ota and nessary to have it ?

I think you already have the answer in this thread.
1:if u are on stock rom u will get it when it is avilebal in ur contry
2TA means (over the air update )
3:if u hit check fore update an u dont get any its because it is not yet fore ur contry

next time write a better title... however you can't get OTA updates if you're not on stock
im on RUU Stock and when i buy it was 4.0.4 and i rooted my device and im waiting the offical jb and i dodnt get it right now

I have the same problem I don't know what's wrong .
Do you need the stock recovery or the nandroid backup... The nand backup is already there on xda.. As for stock recovery, Pls pm me and I can send it via email. If you need to update the hboot you need to relock it

What I meant was the fix that's there on other custom roms...I don't have any fix for the j15 rom

Flashed ota by LlabTooFeR and yes it did the trick.

Quite a few people are having issues with updating to 4.2.2...I was on the latest Viper ROM before updating to 4.2.2 (stock)..these are the steps I followed:
1. Downloaded the stock rom from here http://d-h.st/y9S and placed the clockworkmod folder in the root of my device (here are the .img files: http://ul.to/7j745qvb
2. Booted into the fastboot and flashed the stock boot.img
3. Did fastboot erase cache
4. Booted into recovery (CWM), wiped the phone and restored the backup
5. Booted into fastboot, erased cache, and flashed stock recovery.img
6. Relocked the hboot via fastboot oem lock command
7. Rebooted device
8. Did software update
9. Profit, hit the thanks button!
The ota installed fine and my hboot is updated to 1.73..I really don't know why and how people are finding it difficult to update! Oh yeah, I forget step 0 - make sure you are on CID__J15
