I recently installed a new version of my Cyanognemod, requiring me to flash a new ROM and wipe my data. No biggie.
When flashing, I set to make a backup. But now, I want to see if I can get the pictures taken with the camera (DCIM folder) from the backup. I assume that that is in there, but I don't want to restore completely because it would be my old version of Android/Cyanogenmod. I can see the files data there in my file manager, but it's all in .tar files.
CWM doesn't backup that portion of your SDCARD. You probably have a 0 folder on your internal. Check there for the DCIM folder.

I delete mine by using a file manager then go to the nandroid folder and delete the old nandroids also I backup ALL my nandroids on my pc then delete them

Go into nandroid folder then into the next folder H something, in that folder will be all your nands named by date. Just delete which ever ones you don't need either via some root explorer app or Pc usb.

Go to the sd card > open nandroid folder > open HT... > select the backup and delete it.

I have just recently rooted my intl' S3. I also did a nandroid backup to the phone twice and its taking up quite a bit of space. I have tried to locate the nandroid folder from what you posted and cannot find the nandroid folder. I am using astro folder right now but maybe switching to my file app later if this does not work. thanks in advance!

The folder should be named whatever recovery you are using. If you're using ClockworkMod, it may say 'clockworkmod' or 'cwm'. If you're using TWRP recovery, it should say 'twrp'. The backup files will be in that folder.

Fln is correct, in that it'll be named whatever recovery you're using. Probably cwm, listed under clockworkmod, unless you explicitly changed to twrp. Just make sure you look on the device sdcard for the backups.

I have looked into these folders and found nothing. I have used File manager and Astro File with no luck finding this folder. I went back into the Samsung tool kit to see if it will allow me to delete those files on the phone put no luck there either. thanks again for your assistance.

thanks but I still cannot find the back up. I have used the samsung tool kit to create the nandroid back ups but now I dont know how to find it to delete. in the toolkit it does not provide an option to delete back ups from the phone unless I maybe misunderstanding the option available. i have installed rom manager and there i can create nandroid backups by going into the recovery page. I cannot flash roms because of the space limitations. I want to delete these back ups on the phone and just leave it on the computer so that i can start flashing roms thru rom manager.
I do not have an external SD card because its still in the mail. Thanks for all your help!

I just went into the CWM recovery mode and located the 2 nandroid backups I created but still could not delete any of them. All my file explorers does not have any nandroid folders and the CWM folder is still empty. Am I missing a particular setting that is not allowing me to see the backups?

What file explorer are you using? I prefer es file explorer [free], make sure you set the root settings to r/w, for giggles. It should be listed as internal sd card or sdcard01, probably the prior; I forget what its called on tw. Just verify for clockworkmod folder, and should list your device id, and the backups inside.

You are the MAN teh roxxorz, adjusted the root settings for es file explorer and was able to free up 4gb of space (nandroid BU) Thank you so much! Now I do not have to unroot, do a factory wipe just to delete excess backups!!
Dumb question
Every time I flash ROM. All files move to /0. Whenever I restore my backup. It keeps file not found. I had to move clockworkmod directory out of /0 to root.
Is this normal?

I am assuming that you came from an android 4.2 ROM, the same thing happened to me when I did so. I had to flash back to any 4.1 rom then manually move all files out of the 0 folder. I STRONGLY recommend that you use odin not mobile odin (its possible, I did it but it's a pain in the ass since recovery will be lost you will be in a boot loop etc etc) so back up your stuff if youre leaving that 4.2 rom go to stock rooted rom then flash what ever you want it is the safest way that I recommend. oh and yeah once back on 4.1 you can move all obb files back to android folder and what not. must move your stuff back to original way or else things like mobile odin and recovery wont find them so easily if at all.
The creation of /0 folders is to support the multiple user accounts on JB 4.2. In order to prevent the creation of endless /0 folders with each flash, update your recovery. I am not sure what version of CWM that is as I use TWRP, but doing so will eliminate the creation of additional /0 folders. You can use a file explorer to move things from your buried /0/0/0 folders into their appropriate locations.
Yeah once I move clockworkmod folder to root and went to CWM to restore my backup then move all files from /0 to root. Its the pain in the ass!!! I like stock ROM. I tried other ROMs and didn't like it.

I need to clear up some internal storage, and I need to know which folders are safe to be removed (a lot of old apps still have their data there, but they are not named well, so I do not know which files will screw up my phone or stock functionality if deleted).
Use stock my files if you want to do it individually and better back up all and format internal itself.

When I run out of internal I look at the clockwork folder, download folder, and goo manager folder when I've been using it. But that's if you've been downloading ROMs, etc. I download a ROM or two daily. You can fill up even with the 32s fast

So as of recently TWRP will not read the current files in my storage on my OG. I download new files and reboot recovery to flash, IE kernel, and TWRP still shows old files and not new ones. I've gone through and deleted old files and left only the new ones in the sdcard directory but TWRP still reads only old files. I'm using root explorer to delete/ move files, i have flashed the recovery about five times through GooManager, and have even flashed an older TWRP in fastboot. I'm stuck... any input??
What ROM are you on?

It will recognize the 0 folder as your SD card. You can either move all the files out of 0 copy to sdcard and delete 0, or just move stuff that you want to flash into the 0 folder. I did the latter because every time I flash aosp the 0 folder returns.
I looked for the 0 folder, but found nothing. But it did seem to happen shortly after flashed cm. Must be it I guess I'll have to format storage.

You could try and sideload a rom with ADB to the directory that TWRP is reading from.
If you use Root Explorer and go to root(mount R/W), you can access your 'new' backups under data/media/TWRP. This is where I found all of my back ups after flashing a new ROM. This seems to be default storage for back ups, at least for me, so I copied my original stock back up form my 'sdcard' partition and brought it to the new location. That way I have an original configuration in both places; cover all the bases that way. Hopes this helps others......:good:
BTW - I am running EOS right now; not sure if this will be the case for every ROM flashed.......
I was side loading an app from my phone to my tablet, incompatible in market. Well when I tried to copy the obb into the obb folder on my tablet it said access restricted... can't get it to copy even with root explorer.

I noticed something similar to this as well. I used TiBu to restore the SwiftKey app and settings from my 1st Gen N7. After restoring it, the English language pack wouldn't download. After Googling around, they recommended deleting languagepacks.json from the sdcard/Android/files/com.whatever directory and even with root access and Root Explorer I wasn't able to delete the file. I had to do it through TWRP and even that didn't solve the issue. I had to format internal storage to solve my issue. Needless to say, I've been much more careful about using TiBu since then.

I got it working with a different file manager, but I am still unable to copy the Titanium backup folder to my computer via usb, or airdroid. Weird thing is I cannot even use a zip app to zip it up then move the zip.

I actually ran into a similar issue on my N7v1 last night. I wanted to copy over all my apps and settings, so I attempted to copy the various files in my Titanium Backup backup folder. I tried using adb pull, but it failed to copy over any of the apks. The other files (properties, etc.) copied, but not the applications. This seemed very weird. Then things got weirder.
I looked at the ownership/permissions/etc. and they were all identical. I had read/write access to everything. So I tried tar'ing them all up on the device, as root, to copy over one big archive. No dice. Even tar couldn't read the files. I tried coping them to another directory, but that failed too. I could only move or delete them - not copy/read/etc.
I assumed maybe something was wrong with the backups, so I deleted them all and redid the TiBu backup. Problem persisted even on these new files I just made.
It reminded me of an issue I had with TWRP when Android changed around the file system location of the sdcard. When that happened, I couldn't access my nandroid backups either, or even delete them. I actually had to make a flashable zip to get rid of them.
So I had an idea. My current TiBu backup location was "/sdcard/TitaniumBackup". The /sdcard directory points to "/storage/emulated/0/". So I deleted all the backup files again, changed the TiBu backup location to the latter and ran the backup process again.
Voila. I could now read/copy/everything all the files in that same directory, albeit with a different path.
Anyway, I thought I would share this because it sounds like a similar issue. Try using the full path and not the /sdcard shortcut and see if that works.
