This is really bizarre to me...when I'm on 4G, it randomly hangs up if and seemingly only if I have μTorrent running while also having AndChat connected to a server (4G icon will stay lit showing data transfer despite there being none, and apps will take their sweet time to timeout instead of giving "no network connection" errors). Toggling airplane mode on/off gets my connection back, but the same thing happens after 15-30mins. μTorrent on its own seems to work fine and I can use other programs at the same time (e.g. youtube) without issues...just not irc.
It's not really a big deal, I'm just curious what would cause it. Currently running GB27 kernel/modem.

Any torrent app uses a huge amount of bandwidth. It will hog most if it and disable most apps from connecting correctly.

Yep... Basically do everything you need to do before you start downloading torrents.

your mp3 player.
That's strange. I didn't use it. I rebooted it and it stopped. =|

Well I can't say that I know this, but just the name would suggest to me that it is related to the DLNA features of the phone.
if your Wifi is constantly ON and you have a home Wifi network with a Windows 7 or any DNLA device thats constantly on then its detecting Media Server and is connecting to it, that media servier pops up in my PS3 all the time even if i did not set my PC to share files with anything else
That might explain it but I've never set up dlna to work with anything I have. Fortunately it stopped running after I did a reboot. It's sad though how much of a cpu hog it really is even when it's not connected to anything

If I start my DLNA app and then "back out" of it, after a bit I'll get a message saying that it's running and consuming power and do I want to shut it down. I know the Task Manager has to be used sparingly, but I've set DLNA as one of my few apps to kill when the screen times out.

I was looking for a way to force lte so I installed notification toggle and added the 4g button to status bar. Didn't do what I wanted, but when hitting the 4g toggle it brings me to this screen. Tried setting the preferred network type to lte only and toggling the radio but still had 3g as soon the radio turned back on. IBM want able to get to this screen any other way though. Anybody know anything about it or what the other options in there do?

Idk anything about your question but your first picture you may want to take down it has your IMEI number and phone number in it.

I can't say with enough certainty what you should/shouldn't change there.
But I would recommend you blackout your personal info before posting screen shots.
ie: IMEI,Phone #,etc
Not saying any xda members would be malicious, but that info can be seen by more than xda.

You can force LTE but there are some down sides.

renember this option? turn off all the data usage and make the phone only conectable to the internet by wifi (to avoid spending money from my sim card as I don't have, here in portugal, a plan who gives me free MB of internet)
where is it in android 4.2?

2-finger pull down the notification bar and Press the Center icon that says who your wireless provider is and that screen should come up.

Or simply go to settings and tap data usage the same way you always did?
i would do that if I had found the button to do that...but i've discovered the problem, my SIM Card wasn't correctly inserted so the phone didnt recognize it
I never saw this before. .
Connected to my wifi at work, and I got a picture message from my daughter... then the 3g and wifi were on at the same time.

Anyone...??
Sent from my big A $$ Galaxy Note 2.
The pxt message comes through 3G that's why both your wifi and 3g are on at the same time.

3g is always running in the background when wifi is on but it will only notify you that its being used when you need that particular service. From what I understand voice calls are also placed through the 3g service but defaults to 2g when there strength of your 3g is not good enough.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Cheers,
Evil.
^ That's my understanding if it as well.
Not all carriers will make the phone show data activity indicator when receiving mms, but I think it's very common.

If you mean what I'm showing in my picture, then don't worry. Your data isn't being used along with your WiFi and this is a known phenomenon (I mean, it's obviously happening to me too). No one has really been able to figure out exactly why it happens (to my knowledge).

I get it, too. Happens a couple times a week around the same time in the evenings. Doesn't seem to affect my data usage.
The AT&T visual voice mail app does this when you use it. It seems to always get its data from the cell network even when wifi is available. It's possible that other AT&T apps do likewise.

This isn't the cause because I've had Visual Voicemail disabled since updating to 5.1.1.
