I have been seeing some posts that water go inside the headphone jack, causing "Headphone plugged-in" issue.
Well, you can get "Pressy", a physical button that plug in your headphone jack and allows you to create customize physical button action, with "extra" benefit of covering your headphone jack from water damage.
I am not affiliated with Pressy, just want to share the news...

soooo I wonder if it will think headphones are plugged in and if that is the case how can you make phone calls with that thing inserted?
This looks like a better substitute:

I think it has different voltage so the phone know this is not a headphone?
I used to have the Square headphone card reader and when plugged in, my old Galaxy Note didn't think there is a headphone inserted..
For the "alternative" you mentioned, Pressy is better suited if you want additional functionality, like button interaction and not just for display purpose.

I think everyone got the wrong impression on Pressy. It is an active device, not a passive cover. It comes with an app that you can use to customize Pressy to react to certain button presses.
If you just want to cover the headphone jack, then yeah the link below will be sufficient. If you want gadget, then it's different story.
Oh, and I bought Thermodo since the S4A does not have a thermometer sensor. Now you all know I am crazy about gadget!

About an hour later, fiddle with headphone jacks, blow and clean with cotton buds, playing music then unplugging etc. What finally worked was simply calling the iPhone from another phone. The ringtone sounded, I answered and could hear through the earpiece again.:fingers-crossed:

This. There's no point buying it in order to keep water out of my jack (which I haven't had a problem with even after dunking in the sink) if the little device isn't water resistant itself.
It's a good idea, granted, and thanks for sharing. But I wouldn't want to use it without it being able to take the same punishment as the phone. Considering that the Active has a bunch of hardware buttons, this also makes me wonder if I can do something like this when the screen is off ith the home button after disabling wake lock...

Like the title says, I'm using this one right now:

Everything works as it should, but the sound quality when listing to music sounds like a cheap 1.99 pair of headphones. I am an audiophile when it comes to sound quality especially with headphones, this particular pair is unbearable.
Can anyone recommend a pair for under $50 that has quality sound? I really like the convenience of the inline mic and the call button. It works well with Vlingo too.
I too would like confirmation on which headsets work for our phones. My previous phone (Epic 4G) would not work with several different headphones with mic. More specifically the buttons did not behave as you would want them to. For example: music controls, volume controls, voice control, etc. I have tried Bose headphones(AE2i and Quietcomfort 3) and earphones(MIE2i), Klipsch S4i, and several skullcandies. None of the inline buttons worked for the Epic 4G and I'm afraid these iDevice headphones will not work for my E4GT as well.
Instead of making a new thread, let me just ask here:
Is there anyway to hack/mod or phones to recognize the inline buttons? I'm not familiar with how an iDevice interprets these commands, so it may be completely out of the question, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Those do look nice though. The thing is, like the Body Glove ones they use words like "premium" and "high quality" and a big WTF/Facepalm when you actually get to use them. I don't want to get suckered again so I want to get some recommended ones.
Ya know, maybe of I could just find the cord with a mic and button with the 3.5mm jack I can put my own headphones on that would be a great option too, I'd need a confirmation that it works with our phones though.
So i tried using three different headphones with two almost new s2s (mine and my gfs), it seems that none of the headphones can get solid connections with either phones, they either have to be kept at a certain angle/position or need to pressed down to actually hear sound.
Can anyone confirm this? Does the headphone jack get best compatibility with samsung products only? Not that I use my phone to listen to music but this is pretty irritating.

Look for a right angle connector or adapter. It is best for things like phones to prevent damage to the jack.
I have a in-ear headphone from HP with the inline mic... I don't have the problem with audio cutting out. I do have problem with the mic volume sounding faint at other end. I need another headphone/mic unit. Any suggestions welcome. No BT - I need in ear for noise reduction and also listening to podcasts.
None of my headphones can go in all the way, theres always a bit of the metal outside. I tried it with both t989 that I have access to. I don't think it's just my machine.. anyone verify?

You might have gotten something stuck inside your jack.
My plugs insert all the way...
are you using a case?
I thought i was having a problem with my porta pros, then when I tried them without my case on I could see it wasn't in all the way.
It took quite a bit of force to snap it in the rest of the way then it worked just fine.

i use skullcandy with inline and they work flawlessly with and without cases.
I saw this yesterday when I pulled into a parking lot. I wanted to get right up to their window and take a better picture but I didn't want them to be watching me from the restaraunt and think I was plotting a break in with their vehicle.
It might be hard to see with all the reflections, but it is a vent phone holder WITH A CORDED PHONE RECEIVER! I have never seen anything like this before.

Probably for better reception. I've never seen one that big though.
I suspect that it's either one of those Bluetooth handsets that looks like an old phone, only this one has a cord on it, or, more likely, one of those old phone looking handsets that plugs into the headset jack of the phone.
Walmart sells the latter for about $7.

hows the sound clarity?
Sennheiser just announced @Ces a new line up of products, including MM 30G designed specifically for Samsung Galaxy phones. No more cheap ebay imitations or dealing with low sound quality of bundled earbuds
http://en-us.sennheiser.com/mm-30g
These one should have fully featured volume up/down and multifunction button for play/pause/call/GoogleNow. Also should have an enhanced bass sound and passive noise isolation.
A detailed review to follow once I get my hands on it
Wow. A quantum leap for Android headsets. I also looks like they've placed the controls/mic on a "ear plug cable" near one of the earplugs instead of placing it before the two cables split up?
"Price on request?" Is it that steep?

The mic built into in-line remote which is on one of the cables after the y-splitter, very typical for these types of headsets. You want to keep mic closer to your mouth so it picks up less noise. Placing it before the cable split will be too low, and you will have to lift it up and bring closer to your face every time you make a call.
Regarding the price, I'm sure it will be on par with other MM30 models. They probably don't have it listed officially yet (not even listed on amazon or anywhere else) because it was just announced at CES show today.

Senns guys told me it will be up for sale after CES, since for now it was just announced. My guess it will be the same as other MM30 models they offer, so you can look up how much it sells for on Amazon.

Edit: The controller of the Soul S Cable looks a lot like the Lunashops Android cable with remote, but in white.

I have a set of custom Samsung in-ears with oversized drivers and a bass reflex port. It's comparable to the Apple EarPods in termss of bass, and produces crystal clear sound overall, with the addition of the Android compatible in-line remote and mic!
Oh yes, and please change 'headphones' in the title to either 'IEM' or 'earphones'. At first I thought Sennheiser actually made Andorid compatible supra-aurals or circumaurals. Remember, earphones go in the ear, and headphones go over the head.

Hi. thanks for the reply, so your's it's the same? Yeh, mine works fine too. I guess it's a design choice. Thanks again!
Mine seems to be the same. My phone also seems to give off a horrible buzzing noise when plugging into my car aux, so I am curious if my headphone jack is defective or if they really decided to not shield the aux cable signal.
Yeah I checked another unit today and they are all like this. I use Bluetooth in the car so I don't know. But tomorrow I will test that and let you know.
Also, the jack seems to be a little "mushy" and easy to remove... there's not real "click" when you plug your headphone... Did someone note that ?

I think its to do with the way how the phone curves and so the headphone jack bonds with the body of the phone and not with the screen panel also i find that with my old head phones that have some of the copper worn off the end it tends to slowly wiggle it self out while with my more newer pair that has the copper coating present it works with a click still
I do however have a problem with the earphones that they give you im not sure if its to do with the update on the 02/08/18 but it cuts out and ill then have to unplug and plug the headphones back and it tends to make a really loud click i think its with the earphones and not the device its self.
