Bricked Wildfire S

Hey Guys
Yesterday I wanted to upgrade my wildfire S
it had an Arabic Rom from HTC with Android 2.3.3
so i tried to flash the European Rom (RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe)
everything went OK then i noticed there is a newer version (RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989_signed.exe)
so i go on with RUU and the flashing went well
BUT
when the phone rebooted it didnt boot and the screen was black and flickering with some white lines
now i can't reflash any rom , can't using RUU .... etc
Can Any one help me please, i bought my phone one week ago i don't want to lose it

any thing i do to turn the phone on causing black screen with flickering grey and white

The same happened to me exactly! I got the ROM from the web (the filename was OK, but the content wasn't.) I went ahead with the flash, now I have a Wildfire S which upon power on produces the following symptoms:
a.) flashes the red LED and a white line at the bottom of the screen blinks, then turnes the screen off, and starts the process in a cycle until the battery is removed
b.) does NOT vibrate or allows me to enter the HBOOT menu (POWER and VOL Down button).
The phone is S-ON (I checked it in the HBOOT before updating the RUU Rom on the phone) but SIM free.
So far the solution I found is to send it off and it'll be taken apart and RE-ROMmed. (Search for fonefunshop - bloody forum doesn't allow me to insert link)

Keep me posted if you find anyhting else helpful.

I just encountered the same problem, but the strange thing is that the very same file worked fine on another WildFire S which I've just completed setting up CM7.2 on.
RUU used: RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989_signed.exe
Any luck finding out how it can be brought back to life?

Yea, that's fine and dandy if I could even get into HBOOT, no less fastboot... :/
From powered off state, turning it on, it immediately starts blinking as described earlier in this thread.

yeah..... well mine is back on s-on and when i boot it does a boot loop ( htc logo then turns off then htc logo again)
can some one tell me how to turn on usb debugging mode using pc....:crying:

What happens if you plug the USB into the PC and then quickly boot to hboot?
Also, since you have access to the Bootloader you should download a good copy of the rom. Remove the rom.zip from the ruu and then rename it to pg76img.zip and put it on your sdcard. Reboot to BootLoader and let it run the update.

Bricked HTC Desire

Hi guys,
My bro has been flashing roms quite oftenly, I dont know how he does it. I dont use a HTC Desire.
Today he came to me and told me to help him fix up because he couldnt boot to anything.
The phone stay on the White HTC Screen only.
After reading up XDA, I booted into fastboot (Back Button + Power) and tried to Flash HTC Bravo RUU for WEE_Asia.
I used to flash WinMo devices so I thought it should be any problem.
When flashing, everything was fine until towards the end an error saying the package is lost or incomplete. and the RUU updater just leaves me without any choice to revert or what. I didnt not get a screenshot as well.
Now the device is bricked. Power button, anything doesnt work at all, blank screen. yeah..
So any suggestions or tricks to unbrick it?
ADD: Is it this first case of a REAL BRICK HTC Desire? (because I see alot people posting about 'brick' devices but its just merely some software problem)
because as far as I know its quite impossible to brick a device, well and error during RUU update can brick the device, but the error appears in the end of the RUU so Im still kinda unsure what problem is it.

nope. no vibration at all.
Could it be a battery problem?
because I always see him charging daily and his battery always goes down till 40% or so even in airplane mode!
would it have been the battery problem that caused the RUU error?

doubt it if it only happened after trying ruu. if u were s-off then u cant just run a ruu anyway. this is prob what caused it. do u have a warranty?

Yes the device was S-off when I ran RUU.
Unfortunately, warranty was over last month..
So is this the case of broken bootloader?

I saw some relevant questions in this thread and decided this is the right place for my question. Here are the symptoms of what looks like my bricked HTC Desire It happened to me after I ran (RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783) RUU on my S-OFF phone:
- Take the battery in/out, press power button, just a quick vibrate and nothing happens
- Tried to boot in fastbood (Power button + Volume -) nothing happens
- Plug in the charger - LED is ON (orange)
- The msg on the PC app for RUU was that there was an err during the "upgrade", which was a downgrade attempt, caused by the fact that my phone software was not the right one for that RRU.. or smth like that. Suggesting I go and download the right version.
My question is... is my HTC Desire officially bricked or are we talking about some of those "soft bricks" you guys are referring to with hope for a restore.

take the battery out for a min then put back in then press & hold volume down + power. it should work if it vibrates and u have the orange led when plugged in.

Thx for the reply! Doesn't budge.
I kept the battery out for a few mins and held down the buttons for a while as well. Screen doesn't turn on. I'm guessing the vibration and LED are good signs?
I've been at it for a while. As far as I got looking for answers throughout the forum... I used ADB app on windows to run command "adb devices" and got a
HT-some-code/serial....................recovery.
So I'm guessing the phone is stuck in recovery. Wonder if I can turn S-ON and try to re-run RUU from this adb thingy.

Ok, I unbricked it For all people that will land here, my (USB) brick occured after running the wrong RUU on a S-OFF Desire.
I started down the list of HTC Desire shipped RUUs from the list of shipped RUU (can't post link) and the phone got back to its out-of-the box state after I hit the right one. Worked for me.

I tried running the command "adb devices" when my bricked Desire is connected on my PC (pressed down the two buttons as well before connecting it) but it says "List of devices attached" without any serial you said that there was.
I don't know how does the "recovery" on bricked phone works. I did my test: remove and reinsert battery and connect phone. LED comes out. (means it isn't permanently bricked) press down "volume down" and "power" buttons and LED switched off. Tells me that recovery must have been booted.
Any suggestions? :crying:

Okay I followed the RUU method (post just above this). I remembered which RUU I am supposed to install (technically RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_TR_1.30.184.3_Radio_32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09_release_139001_signed.exe). Unfortunately I received the ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR, which is sad. hurr
Before this bricking incident happened, I did an update to get android v. 2.3.4. Then I want to revert back its hboot from 1.02 to 0.9x using this method. Somehow, after the third step I still have S-OFF, HBOOT 6.93.1002, which is frustrating. That's where I went to alpharev and tried my luck. Nothing gets the advantage. I found another topic which then I found this rooting topic. That's where I began dumb and installing the RUU I want to install (which is the asia version, since my phone's RUU should be from Asia).
And that's how I got my phone bricked.

DUDE IT SAYS WRONG IMAGE

Htc desire hd white screen problem

I have just baught my htc off ebay 3 days ago it is only 4 moths old and when i received it i tryed to update to 2.3 gingerbread through the phone not connected to the pc, and i left it on the white scren thinking it was working. i left it on charge whilst i slept i woke in the morning and its still like that?! the only way i can turn it off is pullin the battery once i turn it on i can get to the hboot menu all fine there no succes recovering, factory reset nothing so i left for wile with no battery still problem it only vibrates ONCE when i switch it on if that helps any advice on this? i have no idea was s-on/off is or RUU so please speak english to me

Is it rooted? If so, AAHK or HTCDEV? Is it S-OFF? Is there a custom ROM on it? Have you updated your HTC drivers using AAHK specifically? What did you do to get it in that state?

the mobile is rooted using AAHK, S-OFF i used jelly time 22 and it was working good i tried to update another rom and thats when i get this problem it get stuck when I installed the 2nd Rom

So, what is the problem? flash a recovery if you don't have it and reflash a rom. Don't use the Hack Kit is not for you if you are already S-OFF.
Use the guide in my signature to guide yourself.

[Q] Desire HD root falitrue

Hey! A'm new here (noob) and i have got some problem with my HTC Desire HD.
I tried to root my phone but unfortunately I failed.
I don't know why but it looks like my phone is briked... I cant run system. I tried go to hboot... it worked but i cant recovery and run factory reset.
Its strange but in hboot screen it writes me S-OFF so its look like my phone is rooted.
So when I try to run my phone (normal) HTC logo shows but it slowly turning from white screen with logo into dark. The same effect is when a try schoose recovery or factory reset.
Please help and sorry for my bad english.

So far, you did half of what you did wrong. this subject has been discussed in these forums over and over, so instead of opening a new thread you need to search and read. Factory reset should never be pressed as it deletes the usb debugging drivers, but you probably missed that part.
If you are S-OFF then flash a recovery from fastboot and then a custom rom..or flash a RUU you like. Use the guide in my signature to find out how.

Yes I know this thread is spam but my problem looks diffrent than normal. Bricked android phones got logo showed all the time but my phone after 5 - 7 seconds is turning into black but device is still working.
The problem is that i have really no idea how to do now. When I rooted it how can I install custom ROM?

you don't need root to flash a custom rom. You need S-OFF and a custom recovery. Read the guide.
Fade to black screen means that your PC connectivity failed way through the process and should have been run again from that screen as stated in the manual.

So, what I have to do now? My phone is rooted and what now? But i think I damaged software in my phone because i cant recovery system.

You are not rooted (you need a ROM to be rooted). You are S-OFF with no custom recovery. There is a section in glevitan's guide explicitly for this very issue.

I don't think you're listening the advice above.....
Have you got a recovery installed? Can you boot into it? If you haven't, flash one in hboot.

All the other told you...but I guess you are not very used to hacking HTC devices...if you don't mind, I can do it for you via teamviewer...just let me know. I have a couple of hours left in the office, so let me know.

to day he put phone to charge. and it restart and dont open. It is coming HTC logo and 7-8 vibrations and black screen. It stuck in black screen. It is not opening. What can be problem, how can we fix it. Thanks very much

select wipe/ factory reset,
select wipe all partitions except sd card.........
flash one stable rom [gb will be good] ..............:victory::victory:
if that doesnt work glevitan will come for the help.........
hes an expert in resolving the recovery and boot loops..............
[ it will be good if u change the title to CANT ENTER RECOVERY OR CANT ENTER BOOT LOADER].........

i didnt do anything, i just power on phone and it makes 7 vibrates and black screen. Can you explane what is messed bootloader? can it fix or motherboard must change or what? Can we fix it?
and do you know how can bootloader crashed? because after normal work he put it to charge, after charge it do like this!

A messed boot loader happens when you flash a Froyo RUU on a ROM shipped with Gingerbread. It was fixable, but with the retirement of AAHK and attn1's servers I'm not sire if it still is.

Can you get into the boot loader? If so, load a hboot image into hboot by renaming the zip to PD98IMG.zip and placing it into the root of your SD card, then put the SD back into your phone then hold volume down and power

If he has a messed bootloader and flashes a RUU, he will probably brick his device...quoting attn1:
"...Because mercifully, your miserable dumbass life will end before you see that RUU finish flashing. Your hboot is in super slo-mo, and all the sand that’s passed through all the hourglasses since the dawn of time itself will not amount to how long it will take a full RUU to complete flashing. Neotanker, is the phone booting at all? even after 25 mins? can you access hboot after waiting about 20 mins? if you can access to hboot you might be able to fix it (I can help you) but if you don't get hboot then you are probably done!
