[Q] How to swiftly change keyboards?! - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I'm in need of 2 different keyboards and 1 of them refuse to give out a way to swiftly change to the other one.
So before I just solved it buy holding on the text space and then I got the option "Input method" and could easily change there.
But with my S4 mini, it doesn't work to do it in that manner anymore.
So I was wondering if anyone had a great solution to it?
Thanks in advance!

When the keyboard is visible, there is a keyboard icon in the status bar. If you show the notification area, you can tap on the 'Select input method' notification and change the input method from the dialog.
Not as fast as your previous method, but it should work.

[Q] Change input method?

Is there an easier way to change the input method? Coming from a Droid INC I could hold down in any text field and change input method (swiftkey x to standard keyboard). It appears that the only way to change input methods on the SGN is to go through the setting screen which is about 5 steps to swap keyboards.
When you are in a active text input area, pull/drop down the notification bar
Ah Ha!! Good tip! Thank you

[Q] Way to easily change the keyboard?

Hey there,
I was used to changing the keyboard easily by long-pressing any text-input possible screen area and then selecting the desired keyboard.
Now I have to go all the way to the settings and change the default keyboard to the one i want to use at the time.
Is there any way to change this in a smoother way?
Cheers

Some keyboards support long pressing space (i think), other way is to select a text field and then pull down notification bar and select the "select input method" there.
/Edit:
Stock Keyboard support longpressing space, SwiftKey X does not

[Q] Switch keyboard

Hi all,
Im sorry this is a very stupid question but I can't figure out how to change from htc keyboard to any other.
I mean, I've downloaded a couple of keyboards from the market, ticked "on" on the desired keyboard in language and keyboards settings but I can't disable the default keyboard and so have no way to use the others..
What am I missing ?
Thanks for your answer

Okay I'm sorry I just managed to change keyboard..
The option to switch input was available in the settings of the new installed keyboard.
Not available in every keyboards though.

I guess you always have the option to change it in:
Settings - Language and keyboard
Whenever you open the keyboard to type, you will see a small 'keys' icon on the top left corner of the status bar. Pull the status bar down and select to change it.

changing input method on the fly

Is there anyway to change inputs methods on the fly so to speak? in my galaxy and galaxy s2 a long press would being up a menu and u would be able 2 change the input method by that but i have noticed that on the gs3 it doesnt give you that option. am i just missing something in the settings? the main reason i ask is b/c i manly use swype but sometimes with longer messages ill use the better keyboard and its kind of a hassle 2 have 2 go into settings and change it back and forth. thank you
I'm on stock S3 and also mainly using swype. I've noticed that while the swype keyboard is open, you can change the input method by pulling down on the notification bar. It's not as convenient as simply holding a button but since you're already texting and the keyboard is open, it's only an extra step to access on the fly.

thank you for that info, sewhuy! Adding that it indeed is there in the notification area no matter what your default keyboard is. I'm now doing this to change between SwiftKey and LastPass.....it's things like this that i hope they really focus on and improve in key lime pie .....long press in the text box indeed would be the best solution.
This Rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748818
has the mod that allows you to change input methods on the fly...
The rom is awesome, please check it out!

Samsung Keyboard

Hi,
the samsung keyboard is great, it has great prediction and response and speed.
however, the only thing that makes me switch to another keyboard, is that it does not automatically select the predicted word by pressing the space bar. you have to tap on the corrected predicted word to inset, otherwise it will insert exactly what you typed (even if misspelled)
so my question is, can i somehow enable auto selecting the predicted word by pressing space bar?
thanks
Prob not...personally I don't like Samsung keyboard...I use ultra keyboard instead...tons of customizations

it is missing the xt9 option
its weird because every other keyboard has it, and also its there in all samsung keyboards in other phones (s2, s3...)
