Ok, So here's the story. My Fiancee and I had our phones get water damage. Both were soaked on a wet table that had drinks being served on it. My phone was mostly protected as it had a good otterbox on it. hers only had a small silicone case. Mine is ok after a night drying out though on closer inspection of the inside, I'm glad I let it dry for the night. Hers on the other hand wouldn't boot up. I let it dry for another 24-48 hours. Took it apart and there was some major water damage to the board. Ok, no prob. Alcohol swabs to the inside and cleaned all up. Boots up but no screen. Take it apart and clean again. Swap my phone's board with her's and the screen will turn on with my board in there. Ok so its not the screen. Cleaned her board again, and removed the sim and microsd plate, cleaned behind there. But I noticed there were a few, I'm not sure what they are (mabye resistors) they were burn out/crumbled on cleaning. F' me, Right? Anyways, re assemble. Power on, YAY the screen works. Boots up to main screen AWESOME! play with it a min, POWER OFF. WTF!?! Ok no prob just a dead battery. Swap with my phones battery. Powers up... On main Screen BAM, POWER OFF, EFFF. Ok plug it in. Boots up, powers off till I'm Sure battery is dead. Plug it in to a 1A. nothing 2.1A Powers on but dosen't stay on. once off it will not go to Battery Screen. Just power up and then off. I don't mind wiping if it is a Software issue but I would like is the photos off before I wipe. Any thoughts if I can get into it. One thing I did notice is that the computer didn't detect when it was plugged in. So I coulden't get photos off. She/I want the photos off BEFORE we wipe. Any thoughts?
TL;DR Powers on for a min but will not stay on. will not charge. Can boot into recovery mode. Rooted and unlocked, OS 4.0.4 w/ telus.

My epic sat turned off all day today with a charged battery. Upon returning home from work, i attempted to turn it on, and nothing would happen. When plugging in the charger, the screen lights up and shows "charged" 100%. If i attempt to turn it on, it shows the samsung screen then shuts off and returns to the battery charging screen, and will "loop" that a few times, showing 100%, then turn off, start back up to the charging screen again, loop.
I can get into download mode, and also recovery.
I odin'd the stock EC05 rom, but when it goes to reboot after loading, it goes back to the charging screen again.
If i remove the USB Cable from the charger or a PC supplying power aat any time the phone goes completely dead, as if there is no battery installed. I have tried 3 other batteries as well.
Any Ideas?
UPDATE: I figured out what it was, one of the battery pins was bent inwards too far. Bending it back is very risky, as it broke when I did, there was however enough left that I could bend it outwards to make contact with the battery terminal. They are very brittle.
Do you have TEP? (Total Equipment Protection) if so take that puppy in and have em fix it just make sure your unrooted and don't mention anything of like manner and you should be fine.

Overnight while my AT&T Galaxy s3 was charging, a near by bag with water leaked and got all over my phone. I got up in the morning and realized what had happened and the phone still worked. Later today my phone said no service because of no sim card. Opened the cover, and noticed a little water on the battery and sim card so I cleaned that up, still did not recognize the sim card. So thought no bid deal I'll get a new sim card, about an hour later the phone shut down and would not boot. Battery now apears to be completely dead, has a red mark on the water indicator. The phone however is still white. I can boot it up pluged into a power source, then when it gets to the colored cirlces falling down it just dies. Whent into recover mode, did a reset to factor and still does the same thing, will boot and then just die right after it displays the circles falling down and then goes into download mode. Is it maybe just the battery, wont boot without a good battery? any ideas would be appreciated
You're supposed to leave the phone to dry for a few days instead of trying to use it.
Take the phone apart. Remove battery, sim, and microsd.
Place parts in bag of rice or silica gel packets.
Leave phone for 4 or so days to dry.
Put back together and turn on.
You used the phone after it was wet. You might have already done permanent damage.

Short story...this weekend I had my Gnex about 2 feet from a hot tub and was periodically changing songs on it, getting drops of water on the screen and sometimes wiping it off with a towel. Fast forward to an hour after leaving the hot tub (with a fully functioning phone) and my battery dies during a phone call. I plug in the phone (powered off) and a few hours later turn it on to see the screen black/white fuzzy like a tv without reception. I restart but see the same. I pull the battery and shove it in rice for a day... the phone vibrates upon powering up but now nothing at all shows on the screen. I dismantled the phone today and saw the water sensor attached near the charging port is pink. Any thoughts on how I can salvage the phone? My computer recognizes the Gnex but the folder appears completely blank. This phone has been through much worse, I can't believe small droplets on the screen did this. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I accidentally spilled about a teaspoon or two of water onto the screen of the GS3. I guess water seeped between the screen causing the phone to power off. I took the battery out and let it dry for two days, but it's still not powering on. What happens when I insert the battery and hit the power button is that I get a vibration, the splash screen of the rom comes up and then the phone powers off.
Plugging the phone into a wall outlet or computer without the battery I get a vibration, the red LED light comes on for a second and then powers off. The computer won't recognize the phone. Is this phone toast?

Should have disassembled it and put the parts in a bowl/bag of rice.

Stop trying to power it on (it only makes things worse) and do what Aerowinder said, take it apart and let it sit in rice. After two days put it back together and see if there's any improvement. If the phone does the same thing after sitting in rice, you may want to try a different battery if you have one or can get a hold of one.

So, the other day I accidentally dropped my Zenfone. When I picked it up, it had been shut down. I couldn't boot it up anymore after the drop. After like maybe 1 hour I opened the phone up and reattached the battery wire. Then I got it working. But then the problem was that the phone got really hot, even when I wasn't using it.
I waited until the battery was completely dead and then tried to recharge. And now the problem is that the phone won't charge at all. It still gets really hot. When I plug the charging cable in, it just vibrates, shows that it is charging, but then just after 20seconds it stops.
And now I'm asking, what should I do? I also tried to disassemble everything and then assemble everything back again, but with no luck.
